An anthology of poems which author, Charlie, has been writing for the past 7 years. The creative journey serves as a reminder to the power of perseverance in an increasingly immediate world. The poems within ClockWorm delve deep into a variety of topics. Love, death and equine insurance is all fair game. This is Charlie's breakout anthology and it is believed that she is going to be someone to remember.
I mainly read this because of some random youtu.be video where someone turned their WhatsApp conversations into a poetry book for funsies and because of the fact that they are a writer and wanted to publish a book one day. This honestly receives the friend of the year award. I honestly read this because I wanted to be part of that joke and to be honest I could I not read and buy this book after that video. It was one big mood. It's obviously not the greatest literature ever but it really was fun to read and like fun for what it was. But without much further ado here are some of my favourite sections of the book: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Covid I thought I had Covid on Monday night but it turns out I was just hot.
Boyfriend I may have accidentally got a new boyfriend I’m very very up for this
Drunk I am awake but think I might still be drunk Well this turned out well
Life Questions I didn’t want to be too early lol but will that be too late?
Best I cannot wait for this Don’t mess with the best because the best don’t mess ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So overall fun for what it was and I have no regrets of buying & reading this book. However, I do have one complaint, which is that this book could have been put together a lot better. The editing and format of the ebook weren't the greatest. It really could have used some improvements based on the design and the way the text/poems were presented. Also, a lot of the titles were repetitive as in numerous poems have the exact same name, which I found annoying as hell too.
Amazing book, the poems are the best of all poems and you feel a spark of joy and love and excitement when you read each poem in the book and you feel incredibly motivated, all of a sudden everything feels so meaningful that you can see the sun in a dark room
Beautiful poetry. Char Lie really captures the voice of our generation. I especially liked the poem about Covid, it's very refreshing to see a poet not afraid to shine a critical light on current issues.
Can't wait for the poet's next work. I expect they have a long and stellar career ahead of them. I am fully certain that they will make the New York Times bestseller lists no matter what they do. People will want to hear more.
Finest poetry book for those folks who'd rather be nibbled to death by ducks than read poetry
Clock Worm has been the finest book of poetry I've read in under 5 minutes! Completely brilliant, horse insurance is a thing? Who knew? Waiting impatiently for the next book. Don't disappoint and be a one trick pony! With or without insurance. A must read, it's witty and the backstory is truly the sweetest thing I've ever heard of any friend doing.
Wonderful poetry. Almost as if it was a collection of messages between two very close friends. As a writer, would totally write poetry like this on the fly. 10/10 recommend, if only for the lols.
An instant classic. Clock Worm is a poetry collection that rivals the work of Dickinson, Cummings and Whitman. The poems are quick and to the point, yet inspire reflection and introspection. It took me two days to finish, and I found myself laying awake in bed thinking about the evocative, stunning prose showcased here. To anyone who has hesitated to read it at this point, take this as your sign to pick it up. You won't regret it. 5/5.
I started making up a fake story. Charlie is a girl who accidentally got a boyfriend but somehow is the queen of balance. She got pregnant. The boyfriend's other girlfriend isn't happy about that. And then she lost the baby and started doing meth. Also her horse is dead.
Jesus wears a suit of armour and a cowboy hat.
Also what happened to Mark. WHERE IS MARK?!? Who is Max? Who are Will and Lucy??
So Beautiful, each word has a natural and vulnerable feel - almost like they have been taken straight from messages. Highly recommend to any literature lover, not just poets, anyone should read this when they have the chance.
This felt like having a close friend who will text you anything that's on their mind and sometimes it makes sense to you and most of the time it doesn't and you almost never know what to respond but that doesn't matter because you love each other anyways.
