Nothing makes me work harder than when my future husband tells me, “Prove your worth.”
Luke hired me as his publicist so his pro football team owner will see that he’s indispensable to the organization. When a defamatory headline hits newsstands, it’s up to me to show the world what a Prince Charming he truly is.
My solution? A marriage of convenience. It’ll get his boss off his back and quiet the slanderous voices.
Luke is adamant that this is nothing more than a business transaction, but I still feel the heat from the single night we spent together when we were strangers.
Now I just have to figure out how not to fall in love with my fiancé.
LONG GAME is the second book in the VEGAS ACES series. This series must be read in order.
Home Game (Book 1) Long Game (Book 2) Fair Game (Book 3) Waiting Game (Book 4) End Game (Book 5)
Lisa Suzanne is an Amazon Top Ten Bestselling author of swoon-worthy superstar heroes, emotional roller coasters, and all the angst. She resides in Arizona with her husband and two kids. When she's not chasing her kids, she can be found working on her latest romance book or watching reruns of Friends.
I read Home Game in one sitting, but I literally devoured Long Game….. please tell me it’s the 18th today!!!!!! Lisa Suzanne most definitely managed to awaken our imagination and pull me into Ellie Nolan and Luke Dalton's story from the very first chapters. But I have to admit that I am even more intrigued with this second story from the Vegas Aces series. A half-truth uttered in a moment of recklessness is just the beginning of an avalanche of negative reactions that are increasingly damaging the reputation and the dreams of our wonderful hero. Ellie, as his public relations representative, has a very effective solution, which further complicates the relations between the two of them. A marriage of convenience – what can go wrong? Nothing at all, if we forget their sizzling chemistry How to resist when the proximity unites you while some stupid beliefs separate you When the business agreement is the fulfillment of some dreams, if only he was brave enough to take one more step? With her interesting writing style, well-thought-out dialogues, and imaginatively depicted scenes, the author succeeds with this second part to keep the interest of the readers until the very end. And just when we think that some things are finally clearer and more understandable, there is another end with such a cliffhanger, which makes us want the third part to come out as soon as possible. Ellie Nolan and Luke Dalton as characters in this part get enough depth to offer us a new perspective on the whole situation, but they also keep enough mystery to make us look forward to the continuation of the next part of their story. The plot itself, which may have seemed somewhat meaningless in the first part, here gains layering and weight, with enough elements to keep the reader's attention to the maximum. The chemistry between the main characters, as well as the angst, are absolutely perfectly balanced. The addition of new supporting characters adds a dash of freshness to the story, increasing its complexity and appeal. If you are looking for a story that has the power to take you into a world of intertwined relationships and incredible chemistry, with numerous twists and tuns that will keep you on the edge of your seat then this is an excellent choice. Grab Home Game now, cancel all obligations and get ready for an amazing ride that will leave you begging for one more page.
Long Game is the second book in the Vegas Aces series by Lisa Suzanne. In this one we get more of Ellie Nolan and Luke Dalton's story, which picks up right where Home Game left off.
When a defamatory story is released, Luke hires Ellie as his public relations manager to help clean up his image. Since everyone already thinks they're engaged, she suggests they marry, hoping that this will stop all of the negative press. As much as she wishes the relationship was real, Luke insists that she is off-limits because she's his best friend's little sister. This marriage is strictly a business arrangement that's to take place in Hawaii during his family's annual vacation. But when she meets the family things take an interesting turn, and we are once again left with a cliffhanger that will leave you begging for more.
Lisa gave me a best friend's little sister romance. She gave me all of the angst. She gave me a sexy football star to fall in love with. She gave me all of the feels. She has upped the ante, and there is no holding her back. This book ticked off all of my boxes and more. Five stars for Luke, Ellie and Long Game!
Ellie and Luke’s relationship is kicked up a notch. The pressure to polish up Luke’s image is hitting a high as more people need to have a piece of this football star. Ellie finds the deeper she cracks Luke’s walls, the more feelings come into play. The story is progressing with deeper lies to save Luke’s reputation happen, and Ellie begins to endear herself to the reader. She’s no longer a fun girl in our eyes but someone who could be hurt byhelping a friends. Wishes for this reader? Luke’s POV. He is so closed off I've not developed an investment yet. Entertaining story, and getting a little bit more engaged in the charcters with each installment.
Keep in mind as you read on, this book is not a standalone but part of a bigger series, Vegas Aces.
After finishing Long Game, the second book in this multi- trope winner by one of the reigning queens of angst, Lisa Suzanne, I am a somewhat tongued tied and speechless at the turn of events that have been happening here!
The plot is definitely thickening and adding yet more layers of mystery as Ellie throws herself into her brother's best friend and star receiver of the Vegas Aces, Luke's transformation as an Insta-worthy star while both his ex wife and his ex girlfriend try to 'X' Ellie out of the picture. While she and Luke are getting closer, they've also tangled themselves up in a sticky web of their own making...so, the big question continues to be-will it lead them to happiness or heartbreak???
There are so many boxes checked here for romance lovers, so if you are a fan of any of these scenarios, you're going to love this Vegas Aces series.
- Hot football player, best friend's forbidden, adorable sister and temptingly sexy brother's best friend...can I just say yum-meee??? Wait, I'll give you just one more little tease, the best one yet- fake fiancee...one of my favorites!
Start at the beginning with Home Game so you can catch up quickly since each book will release close to each other...bing, bam, boom! Plan on parking your butt in the comfiest chair you can find and get ready to cheer on team Ellie and Luke as they try to find their happily ever after.
I was provided with a complimentary version of this book and having read it, this is my honest review of it.
The adventure of Luke and Ellie continues. These two are so fun to read about. They keep digging a bigger whole for themselves and watching them go through it is funny, exciting and I can’t wait to see where their journey takes them next.
Lisa started bringing in the angst in this second installment. My heart is already hurting for Ellie because damn the girl is already getting hurt but this fake plot they came up with to help Luke. She gave us all the unrequited love vibes in this one and I’m honestly a little afraid of what she’ll throw at these two next because boy the way this book ended left me with so many questions and doubts. I hope that mess won’t happen but I can already feel like Luke’s brother is gonna continue being an issue and cause trouble for these two. And they are already have so much on their plate, so many people to look out for, yikes.
I’m excited to see what happens next. If they go through with the next phase of their plan and if they do - Man, I can’t to see what Ellie’s brother’s reaction will be ahah. Lisa has already started leaving us a few bread crumbs in regard’s to Luke’s main issue. My mind is already reeling with possible outcomes and I hope I’m right and that Luke will be free of at least one of his problems.
Once again, Lisa brings us an entertaining story that reels you in until you finish the whole damn book. Long Game is a really fast, fun, sexy read with a touch of angst and lots of drama. I already can’t wait for more of these two!
➳ARC kindly provided by the author, in exchange for an honest review.
This book definitely could have been joined with the first, and it did kind of go off the rails a bit, but I was still invested? I'm trying to think of a good comparison for why I felt like I needed to keep reading and I can only come up with that it gave me the same feeling I get while watching reality TV. It's kind of messy, you definitely don't like everyone, but you really need to know what happens. And this isn't a bad thing!
I like Luke, even if he is wishy-washy on what he wants and is being kind of unfair, and I'm definitely concerned about Ellie because she's a tiny bit delusional, but as I said in my review of the first book, Luke is complex and layered, and we start to really see that in this story. I can't wait to see more of Luke's history in the next few books, and I know the cliffhanger probably isn't as bad as it's made out to be (and if it is I'm going to have a major problem with this series in general). Bring on book #3!!
{Many thanks to Wildfire Marketing for my review copy!}
Don't you hate when you start a series and the first book is fantastic, but then the subsequent books kinda let you down?
You don't have to worry about that scenario, because this second book keeps that momentum going. This book hit my e-reader Friday and as soon as I logged off from telework, I immediately dove in and didn't surface again till I finished reading, and all I can say is that I'm glad each book is releasing every two weeks, because I cannot wait to see what's going to happen next.
Things are changing for Ellie and Luke, but those changes aren't necessarily good ones, at least where Luke is concerned in regards to his personal life. The idea of marriage might be a saving grace, or it could be nothing more than a Hail Mary, especially as there's the potential for feelings to get all mixed up in the shenanigans. Now I just have to practice being patient until the next book to see where the road takes Luke and Ellie.
Oh boy, here we go! I had a feeling that Ms. Suzanne would have some twists and turns in this installment of Vegas Aces and I was correct! This was a really fast read because the plot really moves along quite nicely and just when you think you'll take a break, she throws you a curve and you can't put it down. This installment gave me more insight into Luke's personality and I'm guessing each new installment will do the same. I'm finding that I'm becoming more invested in the characters because I'm talking to them and telling them what they should and shouldn't do! Pretty big cliffhanger at the end of this one so saying I'm anxious for the next installment is an understatement!
"So Long Game ended with a cliffhanger that just about made me want to pull out my hair. Luke and Ellie’s story now seems to have more questions than answers at this stage. Then there is the angst. Oh the angst!!! My heart is breaking for Ellie. She is falling hard for Luke, but apart from a few whispered words he gives her absolutely nothing back. NOTHING!?$# There are three more installments to come yet and honestly I don’t think I can be quietly patient waiting for them. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book." ~Sharon
Ellie and Luke's story continues in Book 2. We learn so much more about Luke and his past as we watch Ellie fall deeper into the rabbit hole. As the ruse continues with the Dalton family vacation in Hawaii, Ellie gets a front row seat into the rivalry between Luke and his brother Jack and the Danton family dynamic. Lines get blurred and both Luke and Ellie are second guessing themselves and the path they have set out. Another fast consuming read. I cannot wait for Fair Game to see where this story take us. ~Cindy
First things first...all Lisa’s series will leave you with your jaw left on the floor after each book. 😮 Good news is you will always be left wanting/needing more. 🤤 This series is doing just that. 🥰
The hardest part of being in a fake relationship is hiding behind your feelings. Now those feelings are starting to eat at Luke and Ellie whether they want to admit it or not. I guess this where you use the term “It’s Complicated”. 🤷🏻♀️ Feelings are pushed away to make this deal work, but enter Luke’s family and hot brother Jake...where will this lead?? OMG I can’t wait!!
5 Stars! ... I wanted to throw my iPad across the room!
OMG ... I love cliff-hangers ... and I hate them because I want to read the next book right away. And I know that every book in this series is going to be a cliff-hanger because that's Lisa's MO. Good thing there's not a lot of time between books.
Luke and Ellie's story picks up right where "Home Game" left off. I LOVE Luke and Ellie but there were times when I wanted to shake Luke and say "wake up, you have a great girl right in front of you ... get over yourself already". I also wanted to shake Ellie and say "he's so stubborn and he's not going to change his mind, so hightail it away from him and save yourself a lot of heartache". You know it's a good book when you're swearing at fictional characters ... lol. Then there's Luke's family ... his parents and brother are pieces of work, the only one that has a heart is his sister. I can't wait for the next book.
I received an early copy courtesy of the author in exchange for a honest review.
Diving deeper into Ellie's and Luke's story, as the two get closer and keep trying to fight the simmering attraction between them, Long Game introduces an array of side characters that make you fall even more in love with the hero.
What are you doing to me, Lisa Suzanne? How many love triangles can you possibly tease us about in one story?
This series has made me increasingly anxious to know what will happen to these characters. While Ellie is living with Luke, she convinces him to work as his PR, while he needs to deal with a defamatory headline. The solution for both is a fake marriage, to try to get Luke's ex-girlfriend and ex-wife to leave him alone, but his rules remain the same, a fake marriage and no kind of romantic relationship between them. While Ellie has to deal with her new job and the feelings that arise, she also needs to prepare to meet her future husband's family. And what a surprise when she finally meets them! I loved the story and I hope to learn a little more about this dynamic of Luke's family. I highly recommend the reading.
Long Game (Vegas Aces #2) by Lisa Suzanne is part two of a contemporary sports romance series and ends with a cliffhanger. It's told entirely from the first person perspective of the female main character, Ellie Nolan.
This book picks up where the previous one ended. Luke's exes have released a story about him, and the media has run wild with it. Ellie is living with him as his roommate and handling his PR. Since the world already thinks she and Luke are engaged, they agree to get married, hoping this will stop all the speculation and negative press, putting a more positive spin on his image.
Despite memories of the one-night stand they enjoyed before they officially met and learned they were to become roommates, Luke and Ellie are still fighting the electric chemistry that crackles between them. Ellie's more than willing to turn their fake engagement into something real, but Luke is adamant that she's off limits because she's his best friend's sister. Their marriage arrangement is strictly business, and the next item on their agenda is Luke's annual family vacation. This year it's in Hawaii. What will happen when Luke introduces Ellie to his family? Things couldn't possibly get more complicated, could they?
I loved the second installment in Ellie and Luke's story! This series is totally tropetastic and I'm completely hooked! Book one started out this sports romance with best friend's sibling and forced proximity meets fake engagement. Book two ups the ante by turning the fake engagement into a marriage of convenience, and it teases about a potential love triangle in the upcoming installments. Luke's brother Jack is definitely trouble, and I can't wait to read what happens next. Lisa Suzanne, these cliffhangers are killing me, but I love them! This series is so much fun, and I want the rest of the books - like yesterday - so I can devour them!
This is a series of five short books -- each ending on a cliffy until the fifth where readers score with an ending that completes the series. I wasn't aware of the short and cliffy presentation until I got into the series. The fun and games and characters made me stick around. Yes, it was a bit frustrating and even annoying but it is what it is and I was completely taken in by the characters and storyline. So, I'm not going to grumble much. I needed something light and fun and that's just what I found even with a bit of angst. What would a romance be without a little angst? And I also am a major fan of sports-related romance and football especially.
This series started in March and finished the middle of April so wasn't a bad wait in between books. These five books featured Luke Dalton and Ellie Nolan. Luke's older brother Jack Dalton will be the featured quarterback in Season 2 of the Vegas Aces -The Quarterback series. I've already read it and was completely pulled into Jack's story as well.
Overall, fun to read and a break from heavier reads I've found myself addicted to lately. One review for all five of these books.
Book 1 Home Game had me screaching at my kindle with the cliff hanger so i really could not wait to dive into this continuation !!! Holy Moly Snow Balls!!! After her amazing one night stand with Luke, Ellie is now not only his room mate but also his publicist and his fake fiance!! Problem is she wishes it was all real and finding it difficult to control her emotions. Well i know how she feels, because my emotions were hard to control too, this couple have me all kinds of heated up !!! Luke is the deep silent type and Ellie is a girl with her heart on her sleeve!! The chemistry between these two is beyond smouldering hot and they are both setting my emotions off in spades. They are obviously perfect for each other !! But Luke is in denial! They have a heap to deal with on the media side of Lukes life, Celebrity scandals, family issues and a wedding to navigate !! Whilst maintaining their work relationship, their fake engagement and their growing attachment to each other, you can't help but to fall in love with them!! I loved every minute of this, never a dull moment and i literally cannot wait for the next part becuse honestly i'm more that screaching at my kindle now with how this one finished i'm yelling NO NO NO NO Ellie !!! Books like this are why i love this author, she gets you all wrapped up and invested and always leave you not Wanting more but NEEDING IT !!!
Oh Me oh my Ellie, what have you gotten yourself into now? (I'm thinking what her mother would say lol). This is nothing but business right? I mean, Ellie knows how to do her job, and do it well. The whole marriage thing, well it's only to save his reputation right? But Ellie, as much as she'd like to think she is this worldly, independent woman, still has a heart, and when that part of her catches feelings, what will she do? Luke has secrets and suddenly she realizes how very little she really does know about the man she is thinking of saying yes to. Will she be able to go through with it after what she learns and how she is made to feel? (no worries, I don't know yet either but it promises to be quite a ride)
So...I'm on the second book in the series and I'm so in love with Ellie and Luke. I just wish the man would get his head out of his ... And see what is right in front of him.
Ok...now where is the next book in the series? I don't want to wait a few more weeks for it. I want that NOW!
This entire book had me on the edge of my seat! I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. The storyline is all consuming! It's like I NEED to know what happens next. I need answers ... And that ending .. it should be illegal for an author to let me hanging like Lisa Suzanne did with that twist and the implications! My heart is racing and I'm literally screaming at Ellie!
"No, no, no, no, no Ellie! Don't do it!"
I'm not sure how much more my heart, or Ellie's, can take!
Amidst the drama that unfolds, there are ROTFLOL moments too! I lay down a challenge.. go ahead and read this book, and when you get to the Cornhole discussion, tell me you don't laugh your a$$ off! 😅😅😅🍆🌽
Lisa Suzanne continues to reign as 👑 #queenofcliffies 👑 And I don't know about you, but I CAN NOT WAIT for book 3!!
Book two getting to the thick of things now with Luke and Ellie not liking Luke’s family and there is more secrets to unfold so I’m moving on to book 3 this book is 4⭐️ as it has me hooked to find out want happens
Luke and Ellie are finding a way to navigate their new living arrangement. It may be working out better than either one of them imagined. Luke may be reluctant to share, but Ellie is seeing some of the man beneath his mask. Ellie is a firecracker and determined to give Luke what he needs before he even realizes he needs it. She may not have her life totally together, but she sure knows how to spotlight others. As they head to a tropical location, they may be turning their attention on each other and saving some of those “picture perfect” moments for themselves...
This story continues with Luke and Ellie. I think Ellie is a little immature and has her head turned easily. She’s had a crush on Luke for awhile. I don’t think she realizes how hard it is going to be to keep her feelings out of what the two planned. I know pretending to be his fiancée is her way of helping him since he has helped her so much. But Luke is so private, I feel she has to pull things out of him. His family is something else. I did like his little sister. There are things going on between Luke and his brother Jack that are not clear yet. I just hope Ellie knows what she is doing. I can’t wait for the next book! I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
This is book two in the Vegas Aces series. This is not a standalone read but a continuous story of Luke and Ellie. Lisa is a spider that is building an incredible, complicated and meticulous web of a storyline with this series. It is simply amazing and I fall right into it each time I pick up a book. Ellie is invited to the annual Dalton family vacation after attending family dinner, she is left wondering what the heck she is marrying into. The plot is stirring, family secrets are being hinted at but not exposed, yet. I cannot wait for book three. Amazing, must read, enjoy!
The only thing I hate more than cliffhangers are Lisa’s cliffhangers.
This book left us yet again on an epic one. One that has you internally screaming at Ellie and hoping she’s a good one.
In book two of five we learn quite a bit more about Luke but in small meaningful snippets. We learn a bit more about his family and his past and with that information our heart breaks for him.
Books 3-5 can’t come fast enough but I know they are worth the wait. We are just lucky they are coming out mere weeks apart.
2.75 ⭐ This girl is the most Gen X/Millenial young person I have ever read about; you can definitely tell she was written by a 40 something year old woman. Yet here I am... Continuing the series.
Oh My Word!!!! First off, this is not a stand alone, Luke and Ellie, is Luke the prince she’s been waiting for? Is Ellie the woman who can break through his defenses,(even if she doesn’t know a thing about football)? What’s the real story between Luke and his brother Jack? I need these questions answered!! Ellie needs these answers.....I need the next book!!!!!! I’m dying here!!!!! Awesome read!!!
This is the second book in the Vegas Aces series. Lisa has written another outstanding book for this new series which takes off where book one "Home Game's" cliff hanger ends. Luke and Ellie's relationship journey continues with ups and downs, ins and outs, twists and turns and once again we are left hanging. I wanted to shake Ellie sometimes and throttle Luke sometimes. But they are characters to love and destined for each other. I can not wait for book three!
There are so many questions after this part of the series, I don't even know which answers i want more too. Luke and Ellie seem to be the perfect couple, but he's still holding back from her. As we learn a few more pieces of past Luke, I can't help but feel bad for the poor guy. He can have Ellie and a perfect life, but his past has shown him to stay completely guarded. I can not wait for the next read in this series, I loved the cliffy at the end.
Another fantastic book in The Vegas Aces series! I loved it! The plot thickens as you go along in this story and twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat! What are Luke and Ellie going to do? Their story keeps getting bigger. Will they be able to keep it going? The ending had me yelling NO!!! I can’t wait for Fair Game to see what happens next! It can’t get here fast enough!
