Navy Seal Killian Cooper has just spent the night with Bird Brewer. Killian had lost his wife to cancer several years earlier and for the first time feels as though he can start living again. Sadly, for them both, this was just a one-night stand ... but one neither of them would forget.

When Bird is kidnapped, Killian and a couple of his team of ex Navy Seals buddies who own a security business together are on the case. He doesn’t hesitate to pack his bags and travel to Louisiana to save her, but what he discovers there may be more deadly than he thinks.

Is there to be a happily-ever-after?

The plot is standard fare for Romantic Suspense. The main characters are terrific and relate to each other well. The secondary characters are a mix of who may have been seen in earlier books ... and those we can reasonable suspect will have their own books. There is a well balanced blend of romance and suspense. The writing itself is not what I expected. It's a little on the sophomoric side .. more to be of interest to high school girls dreaming of their future lives. However, for Valentine's Day. this is an entertaining read.

In celebration of Valentine's Day, I chose to read and review a Romantic Suspense. I chose this one for various reasons. My grandson is named Kyllian. I was once married to a Navy Seal. I have read this author before and enjoyed it.

Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this Romantic Suspense. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

This gripping narrative draws readers into an intricate web of action, suspense, and peril, where each twist uncovers deeper layers of complexity. The fast-paced storyline keeps you on the edge of your seat, as the tension escalates and the stakes reach alarming heights.

Amidst this chaos, she unexpectedly captures his attention in ways he never anticipated. When her life hangs in the balance, closer to danger than anyone could have foreseen, he is propelled into a whirlwind of emotions and determination, willing to risk everything to bring her to safety.

The protagonists are strong, charismatic alpha males, each with a steadfast heart of gold. These men throw themselves into the fray, fearlessly confronting threats to rescue those in need and to track down nefarious foes. Their deep bonds of brotherhood fuel their fierce loyalty, and once they fall in love, they become relentless guardians of their beloved and their comrades. Above all, this group exemplifies the true meaning of family, standing united against any challenge that comes their way.

I don't normally write reviews but this book was just too bad to not say anything. The punctuation was nearly non-existent and you had to keep going back to previous pages to figure out who was speaking. There was no flow to the story. I like books about Navy Seals but the author made these characters look like idiots. I'm glad I got this free because I would have returned it immediately after reading. The author needs to have better proofreading and editing before she releases any more books.

This book was so confunsing and had to many things happening. Their love was too fast by every standarts, it was lust, not love. She was so wrong from keeping Grace from him for a all year, he had a right to know his daugther, him being or not with another woman doesn't have anything to do with the baby. Bird was so annoying, gahhh, I just couldn't with her anymore. Killian wasn't much better. And the scenes, they are alm over the place

Awful...

Did a child write this? Characters have no depth, scenes jumped all over the place, many details were not there that should be, spelling was atrocious, punctuation was even worse.....how did this get published? Thank goodness it was free! Do not waste you time on this author.

Great body but needs cosmetic surgery

The story line too confusing. Beginning of story was pushed with too many details. I had to keep going back and forth to figure out who was who. Whole story line, plot and sequencing needs to be redone. Characters are good but again too confusing. One book should of been split up. I don’t know who is reading copy but they need help badly.

Too many tragedies

I did not finish this...the intro to the book was not compelling, in fact stretched belief. The hero went thru too many tragedies to be believed and that was before the book even started!! Advice for the author: pick one or two. Stolen child, orphan, dead wife, boat accident...all too many for the introduction.

I think I would have enjoyed the story line if I could have gotten past the poorly written and certainly not edited work. The plot had promise; the writing does not.

The premise of this plot sounds really good so I was excited to read this but I couldn’t get past the first few chapters. This was so bad, it ended up as a DNF, which is rare for me. The writing is rough, which I could power through for a good story but the entire first chapter is an info dump. We learn about the MC’s entire life in rapid succession yet completely devoid of any detail.

That includes life in an orphanage, a traumatic childhood boat explosion, being kidnapped and raised by strangers who pretend he’s their son, having a family of his own, losing his wife and being stuck on a deserted island for a year and rescued by his missing and kidnapper families (I think, but that's the point where I really began tuning out).

And it’s all written in bizarrely short, stilted sentences as though translated from some foreign tongue that doesn't translate to English very well. Everything about this is strange and nothing made sense.

Uneven start to series with promise

Sometimes it felt like I was reading stream of consciousness writing. I also felt like I picked up in the middle of the series even though this is book 1. Killian is a former SEAL and works with other SEALs in a security business. He is a widowed single father who meets Bird at a wedding. An immediate and strong attraction leads to a one night stand with predictable consequences. Bird knows he's not over his wife and doesn't tell him about their daughter. When he finds out, he wants to know his daughter and a chance to explore a relationship with her. Bird manages to find herself in several situations where she needs rescue even though she's fiercely independent. Their chemistry gives rise to sexy time and there's action too to save Bird an others. The supporting characters grabbed my interest so I'll keep reading.

What a whirlwind of a story. It's the story of Killian and Bird. When Bird is kidnapped, Killian and his team, ex Navy Seals buddies, get involved in the case. He doesn't even hesitate to pack his bags and travel to Louisiana to save her. But what he discovers there could be more deadly than he thinks. One terrifying event after another follow each other. Sometimes I thought, ahh the end is near, but then something happened again. A great book that I read with many exciting moments. I even read Killian's Epilogue, so I knew for sure how it ended. Pfff what a story.

Killian and Bird had a one night stand, but they didn’t stop thinking about each other.
When Bird is kidnapped Killian doesn’t hesitate to try and rescue her.
I really liked the story, although the trope isn’t new the way it’s written kept it very interesting. I loved the main characters and the secondary characters who we met in the other books. It’s a solid read and recommend it to romantic suspense lovers. I received this arc from the author and this review is my honest opinion.

What?

The story line was ridiculous. I wanted to like or even care about the characters but the way the story was written they seemed like children. It is like the author had 10 different possible storylines and decided to try and put them all in one story. Too much crazy for me.

Language

Searched for foul language, found the book is full of it. Did not read. Authors have too many word choices to use foul language. Just because z word seems popular, is no reason to use it.

Crime and romance

Each book needs editing. Threads are started and then dropped. Bird loses the baby but nothing more is said, no depression, nothing even mentioned? She gets married and moves on. The stories are left hanging more and more

This book started out very simple. Main characters Bird & Killian have you laughing and cursing. Do they ever get things the easy way ever? Than add on the whole band of ex seal men who make up the security team that Killian leads and you have so many amazing characters and stories. Enjoyed it!

This book was amazing. The love at first sight is every woman's dream and to have a deep love. The seals have an amazing friendship in the book and in real life. The mystery in the book along with everything else makes this a great book.

Hmm

I usually love military related books, but couldn't even finish the second chapter of this one. The grammatical errors are overwhelming and the writing is so simplistic and immature. Plot line is pushing ridiculous.

This book was a DNF for me. The story seemed jumbled to me with all these different terrible things and it just didn't appeal to me, though I have liked other of this author's stories. This one is not for me.

Umm

That was like reading a series of novellas. I would have appreciated it more if it had had a couple of adventures instead of all of them.
