Liars Island #4

Betrayal Bend

Rate this book
Sometimes a good life is not enough…

Shay Adler and her husband, Cam, run the Brew Love Coffee Company on Liar’s Island. A gorgeous couple with sunshine smiles and a perfect marriage.

But behind Shay’s smile lies unrest. She loves the husband she met in high school, but sometimes she feels trapped. Trapped by the island, trapped by her marriage and providing stability to her younger sister, and trapped by the whole ‘good’ ethos that underpins their company.

The tourists provide a distraction. They come, stay a short while, and leave again, and that leaves Shay with opportunities. Ones where she can not be such a good girl.

But on Liar’s Island you can trust no one... so Shay’s betrayal might not stay secret for long.

When I started reading Betrayal Bend, I didn't realize it was a novella. I knew it was a domestic thriller and that it's part of a standalone series, but I expected a full-length novel. And here's where I tell you that Andrea M Long took less than a hundred pages and still managed to mess with my mind. Now, that's saying something because I read enough in the genre that I typically see twists coming and expect them. There was a twist or two that I may have expected, but I get the feeling that this author did that on purpose to set it up, get the reader all comfortable, and hit us with the big one because I so didn't expect that - Nope, I'm not going to elaborate. You'll have to check this one out to see what I mean, and I'm pretty sure you won't regret it.

This lovely little nouvelle is the start of a new series by this author. This story definitely isn’t how it seems and as we enter the word of Liars Island we find everyone has secrets and everyone lies and are good at it. Shay and Cam own the coffee shop and seem to have the perfect marriage but Shay seems to think she crave more excitement. She has been through a lot and has dark moments and running seems to ease the darkness. All Cam wants to do is to help her but she feels hemmed in. Just when you think you have everything sussed a few spanner’s are thrown into the works and I can tell you the last one I really didnt see coming and It surprised the hell out of me. Packed full of twists and turns this easy read will leave you wanting more.

I expected a totally different story, I think. I'm not sure what i expected, but it wasn't quite this. There was nothing wrong with the story, i just expected more suspense, crime, drama...instead we got a long term couples mid-life crisis kind of thing. I didn't really like Cam, but his intentions were there. Shay just come across as a little lost puppy. I didn't see that ending coming, it shows you can't read a person by their sweet personality. It had a couple of hot scenes, but all in all it wa s a quick romance with a twist.

Once again Andrea M. Long has shown me how brilliant she is at writing storylines that contain something unexpected. I’m currently sitting here with my ‘I didn’t see that coming’ expression which is one of my favourites to wear!

Betrayal Bend is a fabulous short story that had me hooked from page one. I absolutely love Cam and Shay. They are wonderful individuals and you can see how much they love each other. However, life for Shay hasn’t always been easy and I do understand the reasons for their actions.

You’ll love this story of that I’m certain! This is my first taste of the A Liars Island Suspense series and I’m looking forward to reading the other thrillers that have and will be released by different authors.

I’m completely thrown after reading this one. Andrea took us on a journey full of hidden secrets. I enjoyed being able to read a short novella with suspense of not knowing where the characters were going to go. The names for this place fits perfectly with how the characters act. I didn’t see a lot of the things that Andrea wrote coming. I was surprised. It was really well written. This book was thrilling and I am glad I got the chance to read it. I do recommend if you like suspense books!

Liars Island is an idyllic community. Shay and Cam settled here for the quieter lifestyle. They opened a coffee shop that is a hub in the community. But Shay has a secret. Every year, her thoughts are dark and twisted as she struggles with her grip on life as she struggles with the loss of her mother. There is real fear that she is like her parents, not knowing which one she is more like and dreading being like either. Cam is the supportive and loving husband but some days, that is almost suffocating to Shay. How will she handle these conflicting emotions? Is their marriage really happy? I loved this unexpected and beautifully twisted journey. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Betrayal Bend by Andie M Long a twisted five-star read. This is a stand-alone in a liar’s island suspense series and I will not be able to stop myself going back and picking up the others as I need to know more about the inhabitants of Liars Island. As always, this author has you on tenterhooks and second guessing everything, then just as you think you have cracked it, boom rug pulled, and the story is revealed. Gripping isn’t the word for this one, Shay is a complex character, and I will be honest I didn’t always like her, but the more you get to know the more you understand her. Which liar will keep their secrets from you until the end? Now I am off to check the others out.

Secrets

It seems that everyone has secrets in this book. Those secrets change everyone’s lives. I can’t wait to read something else from this author.

A wonderfully sinful quick read for an evening. Shay and Cam are in their early 20’s, living with her teenage sister, and running a successful coffee shop. It seems Shay needs a bit more in her life and is unwilling to ask for it. She craves more control over her life. I like Shay and Cam, although it seems their maturity and actions should put them a bit older. At times it seems their relationship is like any old married couple, although only together for a few years. For such a short read the character development was strong and I was completely surprised by the ending. Let’s just say Betrayal Road is the perfect name for this story. I was the recipient of an early copy and wrote this review voluntarily.

Utterly blown away by this novella! This is a standalone story set in the Liars Island world. Shay and Cam live on Liars Island with Shay’s sister Becca. The Island is exactly as named its full of liars.

I went through so many emotions with Shay- I hated her a lot but I also felt sorry for her. I wanted to knock some sense into Cam but I also felt sorry for him too. As i got further into the story i thought I had it all pegged - i was wrong! So wrong! What a total shocking twisted plot! I’m blown away and speechless! This was a must read of epic proportions and my favourite book of the year so far! I just wish it was a full length novel! I’m looking forward to reading more standalones in this series and seeing what else goes on in the island.

Five stars from me!

Whew! There's enough betrayal here to destroy lives. It would be almost impossible to describe even one lie without serving a review of spoilers. Suffice to say that there are lies, sex for hire, murder. That's just brushing the surface. It all works because you only learn about the characters and their histories as the author wants you to know.
There are some vague backgrounds that don't explain why all the main characters do what they do, but I don't suppose all these loose ends could be tied up.
Great read, totally engrossing. The sort of book that sucks you in and just forces you to stay up way too late trying to figure out what's going on and, just when you think you know, you find out you knew almost nothing.
I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Betrayal Bend is a standalone in the A Liar’s Island Suspense series. All the books are written by different authors and tell the stories of the residents of the idyllic community of Liars Island. The island where nothing is as it seems, full of secrets and deceptions. Everyone pretends life is perfect and they gloss over parts of their lives like it never happened.

Andrea M Long certainly knows how to write a great psychological thriller and she doesn’t disappoint with this excellent novella. It is a very twisted tale about Shay, her husband Cameron and her sister Becca. They moved to Liars Island and opened the Brew Love coffee house. Life has never been easy for Shay but she is happily married and loves Cam, however, she has a secret just like everyone else on the island. Every year on the anniversary of losing her mother she falls into a dark place, struggles with life and feels trapped. She is worried she will turn out like her parents which also messes with her mind.

The author keeps you guessing as more secrets are revealed and I definitely did not see all the twists and turns which pleased me immensely. For a short story it is surprising how much you find out about the characters which really helps to understand their actions ,whether you agree with them or not. It was great how their love for each other shines through to lighten the darkness.

“Here we go, Shay, saddle up, get ready to ride the love. The brew love.”

It was certainly a case of a love-hate relationship for me because one minute my sympathy / annoyance was with Cam and the next with Shay. I think I had as many conflicting emotions as they did by the final revelation. Loved how the names of places on the island reflect both the story and how the residents act. Looking forward to investigating the other books especially if they are as good as this one. Go grab a copy and see if you can work it all out !! Welcome to Liars Island… a stand-alone series of interconnected, novella length domestic thrillers set in the picture-perfect community of Liars Island. Here, nothing is quite as it seems. On this island, families and friendships are more than meets the eye … secrets, deceptions, and jealousies threaten to ruin everything these influential people have built. But it isn’t only the rich that live here … and power comes in all shapes and sizes. Everyone here is a liar … just how far would you go to get what you want?

Eighteen authors came together to write eighteen stand-alone short story’s. I read five out of the eighteen. You’d think eventually someone from another story would meet each other since these story’s are interconnected. This island has everything and the authors made good use of all it has to offer. I’m still waiting for one of the characters from one of the story’s to interact with each other.
This anthology is a great way to introduce readers to new authors. Five out of the eighteen story’s were available for free so I took the opportunity to download those five in the hopes of finding a new writing voice. Each cover design is stunning.

Shay has the perfect life, Perfect husband, perfect home, and perfect business. Even with as perfect as her life seems something is still missing. Cameron her husband is Mr. five year plan man. He’s been a great provider, a good husband, and good father figure for her younger sister. But Shay’s in a rut feeling down with responsibility and obligation. For one moment she wants to let loose and be reckless.
When the tourists show up fresh from the ferry Shay strikes a conversation with one of the men. Something about talking with a stranger who she won’t see again excites her.

This one has a completely different vibe from the others I read. I love a good forbidden romance and with Shay battling dark thoughts this story was uniquely different from the other four I read. Where this one lacked in suspense it made up for with the unexpected twists and turns.
Shay set out to answer the call of darkness. Feeling trapped and ready to unleash some pent-up frustration Shay sets out to quench her fantasies with a stranger. In the beginning I wasn’t sure where the story was headed but it paid off in the end.

Woooahhh

What just happened… I’m currently sat thinking whattt
How?? I didn’t expect or see that coming. Not at all

Liars Island, you can’t trust anyone

Betrayal Bend follows Cam
And Shay and what a beautiful life they’ve built for themselves… they have plans for their future and the love they have for each other shines through so well in this story.

Shay, not having the best starts in life or growing up
Has had heartache after heartache. Just her and her sister Becca, then Cam steals her heart and they get married. Though they married young they are perfect for each other. The love they have for each other is clear to see.

They all hide secrets which I didn’t expect to see in this story which left me shocked and my mind absolutely blown… what an excellent read this was

Go give this one a read

WOWZERS!!! I NEVER SAW IT ENDING LIKE THAT!😲

Finally another good book in this crazy series. The level of suspense was amazing, but the final twists came one after the other giving me whiplash! The ending was spectacular, and for someone who usually figures it out before the end, I was very happily surprised, oh and totally shocked!!! I'd give it 10/10 if I could. I definitely recommend this book, but be aware it is most definitely an adult read. Excited to be on to the next...😁

Betrayal Bend is part of the Liar Island Suspense series and is full of secrets, betrayal, lies, suspense, and unexpected twists that pulled me into the story. The writing is well done and had me reading nonstop to find out how Shay and Cam's story would end. I have read a few of the books in this series so far and I am loving the mysterious island and all the interesting characters that live there. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Twisted story!

WOW! I am completely blown away! I had no idea that this lovely, sweet story was going to take me one hell of a twisted ride. I was completely hooked from the start and utterly shocked by the end. With so many secrets, I never knew what was going to happen when I turned the page.

I love every second of this twisted story.

Things may appear perfect from the outside but not all is well in the household; when a wife craves something more...

This thriller definitely had twists and turns and surprises – really enjoyable.

Great plot, characters and writing style; first-person and fast-paced, perfect.

A fab little Novella introducing Liars Island & a few of it's residents.

It started off as a cosy small town read & then slipped into a much darker arena (no spoilers).
Definitely not where I thought the book was heading at the beginning at all, which is always good to have twists & turns in a book.

This novella is intriguing, it keeps you guessing at where the story is going and delves into slightly darker, unexpected themes 👀

The characters all annoyed me for the whole book 😂 I could understand where they were coming from but god they were whiny about it.

I don’t think this is a thriller or suspense novella though really, it didn’t read anything like that until maybe 70% in.
