’Tis the season for treachery when Castleton Manor, a grand literary retreat located in Lighthouse Bay, Massachusetts, hosts a long overdue family reunion. The family has been estranged for decades, ever since a rift developed between two elderly sisters. Librarian Faith Newberry hopes their stay at the upscale mansion will help heal old wounds and give them another reason to celebrate. But Faith’s hopes are dashed when one of the sisters meets an untimely demise.
Even though the atmosphere is frightful, the reunion continues as planned, and everyone is required to stay. As Faith and her friends in the Candle House Book Club take the reins in solving the mystery, they uncover bitter rivalries and shocking secrets. It’s hard to discern who is naughty and who is nice when there are no dead giveaways, only humbug.

While I enjoyed the mystery in this story, I was instantly put off by the name dump within the first few pages. It made it a bit harder to keep track of who was who. And while the story was quick paced and therefore a quick read, I feel it lacked the depth of charcater you find in most cozy mysteries.
Very cute easy read, very relaxing for the holidays. While it does involve a murder and some violence, I would say it’s suitable for young readers (probably age 10 and up) as well.
