Well Johnathan did a great job in this and it had its funny parts, The problem with this book is substance and moving forward with the story and a adventure. This book is 90% dialog, most inner. Moving forward with the story? Not so much. Learning more about the world and how to get out? Not so much. Currently as I see it, and at the rate of a snail pace, getting back at the Space Elves is going to take about 100 books and that is being generous.

Alright, I read the first book and was actually looking forward to the sequel. It started fine, but I started noticing something that I took for sarcastic humour in the first book. The author seems to repeat a single sentence in so many different ways before moving on to the next sentence, its frustrating to get past. I had to drop the book past 60% , it's okay to emphasize a sentence dramatically to give grandeur. But doing it so often in almost all the scenes. It's just hard to swallow. I am sure all the readers will notice it if they pay attention to how all the sentences are described in the book. The book has a good story, but don't fill it with repeated sentences with different words but same meaning over and over just to make it more "detailed". It feels like filler words (adding pages to book) no progress in storyline by using so many fancy words. The story alone can keep the series growing more without this issue I mentioned. My review is one good example of what the author does, I am explaining in so many words just one single concept. That's how all the sentences are filled in this book.

DNF 40%.
This book has no story, it mostly consists of inner dialog of the MC and the rest is constantly describing the absurd, but unfunny situations that happen when the party battle their adversaries.
No story progress whatsoever, which is a shame, because the first book was enjoyable.
This one wasn't.

The Prince Has Been Outclassed

"The Prince Has Been Outclassed" by Matthew Howry is a delightful sequel that takes the hilarity of the first book to new heights. If you enjoyed the absurd and side-splitting humor of the first installment, you're in for a treat with this one.

Once again, we join our unlikely hero, Ben, as he stumbles through the zany and unpredictable world created by Howry. From the moment Ben is thrust back into this pants-less realm, the laughter doesn't stop. Howry's wit and humor are as sharp as ever, and his talent for crafting bizarre yet endearing characters shines through.

This time, Ben faces even more outrageous challenges, including a competition to become the new king, an encounter with a group of quirky wizards, and a mission to rescue a talking swordfish. The absurdity level is cranked up to eleven, and I found myself chuckling, giggling, and even guffawing throughout the entire book.

One of the strengths of "The Prince Has Been Outclassed" is its ability to surprise. Just when you think you've seen the most outrageous scenario possible, Howry introduces something even more absurd. It's a testament to the author's creativity and his willingness to push the boundaries of comedy.

Ben's character continues to evolve in this installment, and it's a joy to see him grow and adapt to the ever-strange challenges he faces. He remains the relatable and down-to-earth anchor in this world of chaos, making it easy for readers to connect with him.

As with the first book, the pacing is spot-on. Short, snappy chapters keep the story moving at a brisk pace, and the humor is well-timed. Howry's knack for punchlines and comedic timing ensures that you're never far from another laugh-out-loud moment.

While "The Prince Has Been Outclassed" is undoubtedly a comedy, it also offers some valuable life lessons beneath the humor. Themes of self-acceptance, the importance of friendship, and the idea that even the most unlikely heroes can make a difference are woven into the narrative, adding depth to the story.

In conclusion, "The Prince Has Been Outclassed" is a worthy follow-up to the first book in the series. Matthew Howry has once again delivered a hilarious and entertaining adventure that will have you in stitches from start to finish. If you're in the mood for a book that will make you laugh until your sides hurt, look no further. Ben's misadventures in this pants-less world are a riotous good time.

So... this got worse.

The problems with book one get highlighted here. Redundant sentences, repeating each line at least five times in slightly different ways making it seem like filler, repeated description of the same event, lack of planning or world building, lack of rules, lack of plot progression, lack of define characters.

To make matters worse the majority of the book consists of internal monologuing that gets boring and repetitive.

The lack of structure and established rules REALLY show here and hurt to the story. So much so the author felt the need to introduce a big bad just to keep things going... you know, instead of actually addressing the real problem. The system and the space elf? What happened to that?

Also Average Joe Ben had a personality change because "prince". Obviously we all change completely and are unrecognizable the minute we start a new job. Past experiences and personal traits? What's that? Obviously having him be a five year old screaming MINE then flip to a middle manager when the plots needs something more mature makes way more sense than character consistency.

Overall this was bad. The story is running on fumes and would have benefited from an established structure, goal and rules to help guide it along. It borderlines on unreadable.

These books are a lot of fun. This one was not as good as the first book. and the main story is still rather insane. But I enjoy these adventure stories that bring humor in. I've said before- its WAY easier to make people sad/mad/depressed, its a lot harder to make them laugh and smile. We go through our lives constantly being bombarded by negativity from media, social media, trolls etc. Books like these are fun ways to just sit back and have a laugh from a crazy adventure.

You're goal in life is to do anything you can enjoy your existence with the time you have on earth and the people on it. In the end, try to be remembered positively by people and not remembered as some asshole who made life difficult for everyone around them.

Read fun books and have a laugh from time to time! :)

The second book on the series is still fun, and amusing, yet the pace of the events (or action if you like) is getting slower. Don't get me wrong, it is a book well worth the time, but not as dynamic as the first book was, and as another reviewer I noticed said - we still don't know much about "The World". Hence only 4 stars on the story part.

Johnathan McClain continues with his wonderful and amazing job narrating the book. Honestly, listening to his performance, I would imagine even the dullest read will become a sheer entertainment. He is great.

And I am looking forward the third book in the series.

This book didn't quite resonate with me as much as the first one. The long descriptions had me wishing for a "skim" button on audible. The character growth was minimal, they haven't changed much from the first book, and the upgrades to the elemental are mostly a secret. I will defintely still be reading the next book in the series, but I'll take a break and try some other books first. Other than making every sentence sounds like a herald proclaiming some new law of the land, the narrator did a good job.

Book is 90% dialogue, descriptions, repeated descriptions, random pop culture comments, 4th wall breaking meh.

It's like those over-the-top TikToker or YouTubers in book format. Insufferable if you aren't a child.

Really enjoying this series. The audio book has an excellent narrator. He is making the voices of the characters fun and exciting. The author has made a bunch of interesting characters and their adventures are entertaining. The story moves along and I enjoy the descriptions the author gives us.

I found this book not as pacey as the first but I still enjoyed reading it. As most other reviewers have said - this book is more dialog than plot advancing but sets itself up nicely for the next book. Onto the final book!

Enjoying the group of characters and their interpersonal dynamic. The story is a bit meta, pretty absurd, and still very funny. Looking forward to the next book.

Nothing happens. Could have been a great book series, but too much repeating, too much inner dialogue, and worst of all he broke my progression rule number 1: Don’t make a massive random intervention in the progression. It makes me not care about the progression at all, because author can just do it to power mc whenever he wants. It’s comparable to breaking your own magic system.

It was stupid. Very stupid. Extremely stupid! Awesomely stupid! One of the best stupid things I've read this year.
And very funny. Well, it would be a different story if it was stupid but not funny.
The book was awesomely read by Johnathan McClain. Good job as usual.
Anywho. Books is great if you like silly stupid funny stuff, I'm reading it for the second time, just because the third book is finally out.
