Justice in New Orleans has a new champion and she’s packing magic. Meet Cali, a not so average college student and her crew. Magic Street A mysterious stranger, a mild-mannered Dwarven bartender and the magical creature who’s adopted her. Cali had life all figured out till three revelations change everything. One. An escaped prisoner shows her the underbelly of her city. Two. She discovers the secret her murdered parents hid about her magic. Three. Two competing gangs target her and her friends. Is her band of magical outsiders enough to keep New Orleans safe? Just how weird can magic get in the old French Quarter? It’s up to Cali to keep the underground tensions from blowing up while she eludes the detective who’s got a suspicious eye on her. Mystical Alley Cali and her magical lizard, Fyre are caught in the crosshairs of two different sets of enemies. Can she get out from under one without upsetting them both? Probably not. Eyes are watching them, and not all of them human. Not to mention her trouble with renegade gangs and their random attacks. The city’s magical council is precious little help, leaving her to handle things on her own, as usual. Fyre has adopted her and decided to take certain matters into his own claws, creating chaos. Can the cops be far behind? Just a month ago her biggest challenge was not slapping annoying customers at the Drunken Dragons Tavern. Good times. And now her guardian gives her the weirdest birthday present of The knowledge that her parents left her a legacy, and it’s time for her to claim it. Bewitched Avenue More magic, more problems, more chances to get it right. Cali and her bonded dragon-lizard Fyre are stuck fighting members of a gang from Atlantis. Her parents left behind mysteries that could change her destiny. But figuring out what they mean is downright irritating. A win just means another battle. A loss could be deadly. What would you do? Tanyith’s off investigating his ex-girlfriend’s missing friend. Awkward much? It has to be done. The stakes are rising all around them. A new batch of drugs is tilting the battle between the Zatoras and the Atlanteans, ratcheting up the risk for everyone in New Orleans. Not to mention the danger that comes with an angry twelve-story high Kaiju. Secrets will be revealed, new threats will emerge. Will Cali finally cave to the pressure and visit the Gnomish magical library? The Scions of Magic Complete Series Boxed Set

I’m TR Cameron, science fiction author. I’ve been an avid consumer of the genre since I was six, I think, when I broke the seal on my Dad’s copies of the Asimov Foundation books. It’s been all downhill since then.
I have a day job that I love most days, and writing is pretty much my only consistent hobby. When I find time that’s not already filled with my wife, my daughter, my writing, my work, or dodging the affections of our clowder of cats, you can find me playing video games (currently Dishonored 2 – I’m a little behind the times on this one), watching things (Marvel movies, American Gods, Agents of Shield, Justified, The Expanse, Gotham), playing board games, or, naturally, reading.
My favorite authors in Sci-Fi are David Weber, Jean Johnson, John Scalzi, CJ Cherryh, and the giants: Asimov, Pohl, Bear, Heinlein, etc. I read a lot in other genres too, and am a big fan of Matthew Woodring Stover, Michael Anderle, Jim Butcher, and I could go on and on and on. If I had to choose one favorite, though, it would be Stephen R. Donaldson, whose Thomas Covenant series was transformative for me.
Probably my pie-in-the-sky dream for my writing career is that someone would make a movie or television show of my books and I could be a part of the production. Sure, unlikely, but a clowder-dodger can dream, right? My more practical dream is that I can keep writing and both entertaining and connecting with my readers for years and years to come.

Cali is 19 yr old matriarch of her royal house of Leblanc, in New Atlantis, an underwater city near New Orleans. She has friends and allies and lots of enemies. There is Atlantean gang in New Orleans who want her dead, a human gang who also want her dead, a less objective Empress of New Atlantis who had Cali’s parents killed, and several individuals who have their own agenda. This does not feel like the end of the story of Cali!
Captivating series of magicals and humans interacting in New Orleans and nearby New Atlantis
This series, true to form for any Cameron ,Carr and Anderle collaboration, features the usual suspects: people who wield magic, weapons magical and anti-magical, cute sidekick magical beings, plotting villains and opposing forces, a quest of some sort and kick-ass heroines and heroes. Oh, and don’t forget the humour and usual banter between main characters that make them appear all of a type.
What makes this series unique from the others these authors have produced is that the villains in this series are more nuanced. The series also has an open ending where follow-up adventures of several of the main characters could lead to new series. This storyline of these characters does not feel like it has reached the end yet. Of course, the reappearance of familiar and favourite characters from other series by these collaborators, especially Rogue Agents and Federal Agents, makes this world of Earth-Oriceran universe feel familiar and strengthens the impression that many more adventures of heroes combined lie in wait.
I recommend that readers read the various series written by these authors in chronological order of publication, because each consecutive series is so much more enjoyable when one is familiar with what adventures went before. It gives readers a clearer insight into characters and more enjoyment in recalling each character’s unique quirks and characteristics. It only takes the mention of a name, and readers would be able to recall their past, their background and enjoy their involvement in these new adventures.
Having read the series as it first came out, this re-read was both fun and deeply rewarding. It's so cool to read some of Cameron's earlier stuff and reflect on just how MUCH his writing has changed and improved. Given that this series sets a fairly high bar, that's saying quite a lot indeed.
It's excitement and sneaky plots galore, all wrapped up in a great storyline that hokds it all together. There are a few inconsistencies in the narrative as a whole, but given that even the author, himself, is occasionally surprised by things his characters do, it's pretty darn forgivable. So buy it, pick it up and prepare to be addicted!
Good characters, good story, entertaining. Fights, usually multiple in each individual book, a rotten empress, a house that falls, a house that rises anew. I liked the Draksa, Fyre's growth, the interaction with the precursor series, which I'm co-reading at the same time. Calista is a good, engaging lead character, and is blessed with loyal companions and friends. All 3 authors have teamed up and done a good job of synergy. Thanks for sharing skills, helping others, M.A., M.C. and TR C.
A fun series and aimed at the teen young adult market. The fight scenes were written by a man although maybe girls/women are getting better at imagining the mayhem to the body that fighting like this causes. The characters were not fully fleshed out and the book to me seems more like a comic, rather than a fantasy series. Too many episodes too quickly, as if a story had to be written each month. Having said all that it was readable.
The hole idea was great but it ended up with too many characters and just streamlined one fight onto the next and training for the next.End was very poor was clearly heading for a showdown with the empress, only for it not arising even though she was in the start of the final battle. To then just go back to her Thorn.Think if your a young teenager it might have been more gripping. But for me was a bore from book four to end
Really good series and final book to tie it all together
This was a really fun series. The characters were great, there was a ton of action and even a good bit of adventure. The universe is a blast to read about and other than being hard to put down to go sleep on time, I recommend it completely.
This series is lots of fun and well written.I found the characters to be defined nicely, though not always in depth. The emphasis is on the action. There was a little more violence and more conflict then I prefer, however it was easy to skip over the lengthy descriptions to the results and move on. . I suspect the author is a martial arts fan if not a student.
I waited until I finished the series to write a review. I suppose technically each of the books can be read as a stand alone, I don’t recommend doing that. The plot arc more or less demands reading the books in sequence if you want to understand what is going on.
So, another LMBPN series is finished. I really enjoy books in the Oriceran Universe. They seem to all have great characters and awesome stories. I've pretty much read them all and have not come across any bad books. Pick them up and read them all!!!!! You will not be disappointed!!!!!
I hadn't read these stories before , but I'm so glad I finally did. This was an amazing set of tales. The MC's totally made the story . The action was non stop and the plots and twists kept me reading. Thanks for a great read.
From the very beginning of this boxed set, I couldn’t put it down the story just flowed through from the first page to last page of the last book. I would highly recommend this boxed set for its storyline and the way of execution.
I thoroughly enjoyed the entire series. The imagination of the author(s) knows no bounds. I especially enjoyed Cali’s interactions with her Draksa Fyre!!! I would recommend this series!!!
This was a really good series. Tons of action and I see several spin-off series. I like to essentially disappear into whatever book in reading and this series did not disappoint. I'm kinda sad it's over.
Just finished this series and enjoyed reading all eight books. The story is action packed and keeps you anticipating more. The author also leaves the ending open in such a way that another adventure can continue from this one.
Scions of Magic is full of fantastic characters, crazy adventures and well written battles. The journey Cali goes on and the friends she picks up on the way is great fun. I highly recommend you take the time to enjoy the journey.
I love reading books on magic and Fantasy action. They take me away from my everyday life and let me relax and for my mind to go into the world of fantasy and make believe. I true loved these books and would tell all my friend's about them.
This one is set in New Orleans but it's still part of the Oricean Universe. Cali's family came from New Atlantis and were murdered in New Orleans. Now some gangs are after Cali. Cali interacts with Diana and her team as well.
