I usually don't post reviews, but I was really disappointed by this book. I was really excited to read the series, but since reading this first one I don't think I'm going to continue on. The writing is childish and all over the place. During the points where there was a plot, it was sloppy and not well formed and so was the smut. With the summary of the book, I was really hoping for a good romance read and I'm kinda disappointed.

Terrible story telling

I had read books from Jamila Jasper before but reading this book I would not be reading book 2 or 3, because this is so stupidly written (I'm not saying the author is stupid) but the whole story its self. Yes I did finished reading it because I wanted to see if it would have gotten any better page after page but unfortunately it didn't, and I'm glad that I didn't have to purchase it , 😏

This is my first book by Jamila Jasper. She is a really prolific writer and seems to write across genres. Well, I am not sure how I missed the Jasper experience but I intend to make up for lost time, starting with the two other books coming in this series. Stavros is the enforcer for his Greek mafia family. We encounter him while he is trying to retrieve his sister from a human trafficking situation. However, before he gets his sister back he decides to rescue another young woman, Fallon. Fallon is less than pleased. She is not sure if she has traded one bad situation for another....at least in her current situation she has been relatively untouched. The story is told completely from the POV of Stavros and what a story he has to tell. His family is so dysfunctional that it is hard to imagine living within their care and remaining even a little bit sane; Stavros is hanging by thread to his sanity and his humanity. His father is a drunkard, his grandmother is an abusive, murderous crone, his two sisters just seem angry and sad, finally his two brothers are attractively flawed (but scary) and next in line for stories. I can’t wait to see how Ms. Jasper shares their voices. Stavros saved Fallon as an act of kindness but can’t help but feel drawn to her beauty and strength . In a funny twist, she was a psychiatric nurse in her former life....something this family really needs. The dialogue is funny and the antics of this family as they navigate mafia life and FAMILY life make for an exciting story. The extremely twisted relationships need intervention....I totally, totally enjoyed this ride.

I'm done with this one! What a wild ride writing this book was... I didn't want to leave you on the edge of your seat too much for Book #2 so there are some bonus chapters at the end of the book.

Here's the book description:

He purchases her foolishly, impulsively... guided only by his unyielding lust.

Stavros never wanted to hurt her.

He meant to set her free...

But Fallon’s freedom comes with a steep price.

Stavros loves hard. Too hard.

Reading this story was like watching a reality tv show about my crazy Greek mafia family. It had all the characters. There was the matriarch psycho abusive ruler of the family - grandmother Yiayia and her dimwitted follow whatever his mother say son. His children - Loukas who is believed to be the Henry the VII of the family with dysfunctional children of his own. Helen the kidnapped into sex trafficking nervous but tough chain smoker. Gelanous the narcissist who likes being liked by his followers and Stavros the killer and his conscious, Fallon.
This story is told from Stavros POV which is okay because being in his head is quite the joy ride. Also seeing how he reacts or how he feels about those who are around him is just an added bonus. This story is full of tongue in cheek humor. There are some cringe worthy moments in the story that are not to be taken lightly.. Some things that happen are later explained for clarification, yet the essence of it is not taken lightly. All in all this was an enjoyable read.

A big mess. This book honestly wasn't written by Jamila (it's not possible). was written by a horny teenager about some drugging effect. The mob part is so disorganized and messed up that it's frustrating to read. There were some cool and cool moments. A few more moments are not enough to save an entire book from so many disasters. Maybe and just maybe if she had classified the book as a comedy she could pass. But she did the huge advertisement for a dark book to make a caricatured, bumbling mafia bordering on the ridiculous. Sad, just sad.

Stravos and Fallon are great I enjoyed watching how they grew and changed and stood up for each other. I love this book I love how Fallon helped Stravos learned he did not have to be who Yia Yia wanted him to be and how Fallon finally stood up to her.

***WARNING*** Ms Jasper has written a VERY Dark Mafia Romance here

She totally let the voices inside her head write their story and they had a crazy one to tell. WoW! Even with all the outrageous Mafia stuff happening, this is a very fascinating love story between Stavros and Fallon. I was drawn in on page one, left the real world behind, and dove into the Aegean Sea. I had a chilly, invigorating, swim with those two and I don’t regret it! I remain a fan of Ms Jamila Jasper. I look forward to the next novel in this Series.

Dnf. I’m not gonna say too much because I picked it as a hate read so I knew from the beginning I was gonna dislike it.

Some people are into this and love that for you. But I like my mmc’s to not be fantasizing about raping the fmc (or anyone really).

Terrible, awful, grammatical errors, long winded, skip this one, it is that bad, Do yourself a favor and find another book to read! Horrible subject matter, horrible characters and I can get into just about anything but this book here is the PITS!!

Terrible, awful, grammatical and punctuation errors, had to make some up as I went, scrolled through the rest of the book because it was so terrible. Awful characters, none were likable at all, this was absolutely trash! I had to comment on this atrocity of a book!

I wanted to enjoy this but Fallon was annoying! She didn’t act like a girl who was kidnapped and sold into sex trafficking (this could’ve been elaborated later later in the book but I DNF). And even if Fallon’s personality was supposed to just be bravado out her putting on a brave face it still seemed fake and unrealistic for the situation to me. Especially the way that she and Stavros got together. You’re afraid he’s going to rape you so you volunteer to have sex with him??? Then continue to masturbate under his direction? Just an all around “no” for me unfortunately.

TW: too many consent issues. On page killing, abuse, SA. DNF @ 58%. Wtf was this. There are NO redeeming qualities to this hero’s. He is just sick in the head. This story is definitely NOT for me. I don’t even think he likes Fallon. This relationship dynamic is not it either. I’m surprised I let myself real this far.

This story is beautifully written about a mafia family . Stavros the main character in the book went to auction to get his sister helen back and while Stavros is waiting to see his sister on stage Fallon shows up and Stavros fell for her in a instant . Stavros like everything see about Fallon and bought her with no Hesitation . Fallon is a fire cracker who dislike Stavros at firat when she thought he was going to rape her . Fallon kick him beat him she did all things to him and Stavros still would'nt lay a hand on her even though Stavros threatened to kill her but he wasn't serious . When Stavros grandma needs someone killed she goes to Stavros because she know that he will get the job done . Stavros grandma is evil she abuse Stavros since he was little and he will do anything to be on Yiayia side . And everytime Stavros will kill someone he hear voices in his head for every person he has killed . When he is with Fallon the voices stop .
Fallon makes Stavros a good person .She do things to him that nobody have ever done for him . Fallon have also falling for Stavros . This story is hilarious, drama , dark all in one . I can't wait to read the next book job well done Jamila .

Stavros & Falon

Being bought, so that your life can be spared? How would you react to such a situation, fight, run, crumble, bide your time?

Falon embodies every emotion I could only imaging one may go through in a life changing situation such as human trafficking. As much as I enjoyed the writing, the idea of human trafficking is scary and having a savior such as Stavros brings hope that some people are possibly saved from those situations.

While I did enjoy the character growth and storyline, I did find certain sayings and comments to be over used. This could be a personal problem but the constant mentioning of the family being all deadly and powerful was more of an eye roll and a get off of your high horse thought. But I can figure, that if you are in a powerful family, you more than likely may have that thought process, so the comments are justified just not a comment I wanted to constantly read.

As this is the intro to the series, I am interested to see how everyone else's lives will be interchanging with all of the action, growth, love, hate, danger and suspicion around each corner. Excited to start book 2!

I had a super long review before I finished it. And I gotta rewrite the entire thing. Again.

Anyway!

This is like cotton candy for my brain. Nothing gain nothing lost. It's neither godawful enough to snark about but it's not super good either.

It's ok. And that's fine.

It had some issues that a good beta reader or editor could've solved. (repeated word usaged. Keeping things consistent with some numbers. How the dialogue was a bit weird towards the end? It got rushed and a bit weird there. )

Fallon and Stavros were alright when they weren't rehashing the same arguments or accusations.

In fact, there's a lot of repetition about Stavros being the monster of the family (It got boring. Fast.)

I did get Super bored towards the end.

The Sex was.. ok, I guess. It felt very vanilla though. Which is fine. I just wasn't very interested.

overall, it's Ok.

Time filling sort of thing.

It was nice to see Fallon tell the grandma off though. That was fun.

When I saw this was a Greek mafia book I was estatic to read. I feel like most mafia books are either Russian or italian. So this is my first book that I read where there is a Greek mafia.

The plot was good and some of the characters were alright. The only thing that I didn’t like was how it was Starvos point of view the entire time. I thought after a couple of pages maybe it would switch to fallons pov but it didn’t. This is my first time reading a book that didn’t have dual pov and I really didn’t like that. I wanted to see more of what Fallon felt and what was going on her pov.

The smut was 10/10 but I felt like Fallon and starvos relationship was rushed. Like they got together at the end and that was just kind of it. I mean their relationship was definitely not perfect in the begging but I wish they would’ve worked on falling in love more.

There was just some gaps in the book that I didn’t like or felt like served purpose.

Togetherness

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down. It had so many layers. Stavros and Fallon was a great couple. I was interested in how the two of them would come together. The family didn’t trust anyone not even each other. It had you wondering if this family would be able to come together as a family. I was impressed the way mental illness was highlighted and how it showed the root cause affected Stavros. It was interesting that everyone knew his problem but no one cared. I loved that she saw how killing people was costing him his humanity. She saw that it began with the matriarch. It was funny how he thought he was in control of everything but in fact it was her. You wanted to know how they were going to come together and make it work because of all that they went through. Best of all those love scenes described were smoking hot. I don’t smoke cigarettes but after each one I needed one.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Thank you Jamila

Too far from reality to be plausible
I found the Pagonis family fun but quite unbelievable. A mafia family is a business. His family are all nutjobs and do virtually no work. Drunk, he Impulsively buys Fallon, a black American female at an auction. Then his troubles really start as he finds she eases the voices and hallucinations he has from being repeatedly hit in the head by his pyschopath YiaYia who runs the family business. He starts breaking the rules and getting a conscious which I find unlikely, especially since he is the family executioner. A killer with decades of experience developing a conscious and going against his families code coz of a slave wouldn't last long at all.
Also on the downside Stavros goes on about his enormous 11" Greek **** way too many times.

Fallon: purchased but not bullied, loved

Great book. It was terrifying, riveting. At times I had to put it down because of the violence and YiaYia and her sociopathic tendencies. She would put cigarettes out on Stavros arm, hand, wherever. She even gave him several concussions. She was prejudice, did not like Fallon and told Stavros that he could play with her but there would be no babies to muddy the Pagonis bloodline. All of the kids, Helen, Loukas, Gal, Cass and Stavros had issues. Carlotta killed her father, Loukas, girlfriend named Matilda. No telling who messed her head up!
Stavros bought Fallon at an auction and fell in love with her. Now she’s pregnant and they’re getting married. This is a must read.

I- *sigh* I want you all to know that you’re all BIG liars on here.

This book was a regrettable waste of time.

From the outset, the writing was painfully childish and lacked the maturity and depth expected in contemporary romance novels. What made this book particularly troubling were the pervasive racist undertones that were both offensive and unnecessary.

As for the plot, calling it weak would be a compliment. It was nonexistent. The story was as compelling as watching paint dry, and the character motivations made zero sense. Honestly, I’ve seen more engaging storylines in a random 3-minute TikTok series.

In short, this book was a colossal waste of time. I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy.

SHE CHASED AWAY HIS DEMONS

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.

Fallon is a kidnapped American black woman who is bought at a slave auction by a mafia son, Stavros. She is proud, mouthy, and unbroken. This drives Stavros to want her, but he believes he is a monster because he hears and sees the people he has killed.

I like the way Fallon challenged him to free her and the dynamics she used to make him stop believing that he disgusted her. This story is a HFN with a hanging question in the end. A good story for dynamics, overcoming racism, and family dynamics – whether good or bad.

This is by far the best book I’ve read by Jamila Jasper.

The Pagonis, The Greek Family of killers

Stavros Pagonis is a rich Greek family killer, that hear the voice of the dead he killed, listen to his grandma. Stavros was at a auction to buy back his sister Helen Pagonis. Helen was kidnapped. But, Travels saw a black woman that was beautiful. Stavros wanted her to himself, her name Fallon Iverson. The called her Sapphire at the auction as a inside joke. This story has twist and turns you wouldn't believe, & this is incredibly interesting, exciting, and also psychological issues of a main character Stavros., and a kind, sweet, and feisty beautiful Fallon that healing to Stavros in ways. A beautiful interracial couple romance.

Stavros Pagonis is a thirty-something who is the second son of a mafia family and his family unfortunately is what you can only call dysfunctional. This is a story of Stavros in a fight for his life and he isn't sure what to make of his future. This book is definitely an interesting look into this mafia family while living in Greece and how they have to learn how to work together with the help of a young woman named Fallon Iverson to survive. Drama, suspense, violence, action-packed adventure, and explicit sex. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

What a wild read. The characters are just so out there but very entertaining. I think Stavros had good intentions with purchasing Fallon...who am I kidding I do not think he did. This is a gritty Greek Mafia story, it has all the good stuff that Mafia stories contain. Crazy family member, plot twists, drama, and steam, plenty of steam. I thought the characters were all wonderfully written and I could relate to many of them. The story flowed well and it kept me entertained. Great story and wonderful characters, and cannot wait for more.

This was quite the storyline. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this author. The story is complex, but keeps your interest as the reader tries to figure out what’s going to happen next. The family dynamics and drama makes for a page turner. The characters are likable one moment and hated the next. Spolier** With all the craziness, love does conquer all.

I have to say, this book is NOT for the week. It’s not as dark as you expect it to be, but it’s definitely worth the read.
I especially enjoyed the last few chapters of this book. I’m also looking forward to reading more from this “Family.”

Good book!

I enjoyed this book, feisty female lead, caught up in a human trafficking ring and Stavros who purchases her to keep her from her fate, not intending to fall in love.
He has his own set of problems, he's an assassin who hears voices of his victims , a member of a crime family who are psychopaths, especially his homicidal grandmother.
The story is well written, looking forward to book 2

If you're in denial about the "weird" stuff you like- this isn't for you.

While there are some traumatic themes and definitely some Stockholm Syndrome going on, the, character development and plot pace was pretty solid. Stories take us to many different places and I didn't find where I went soooo uncomfortable that I didn't want to keep reading. Looking forward to the next one.
