A brilliant scientist. A coveted cure. A greedy pharmaceutical company. Throw an endangered frog into the mix. What could they possibly have in common? When amateur sleuth, Jane, and her private detective boyfriend Dominic go on a romantic vacation, everything goes wrong. Their personal relationship is under strain. To make things worse, Zora, Jane's strong-minded factotum joins the holidaymakers. Jane's sister-in-law is missing, and her depressed niece is attacked by a crocodile. Not only are there poisonous plants, but snakes and an ex-army killer to contend with. To top it off, there’s an endangered frog who lives at the summit. Everyone is hiking up Thornton Peak, but not all will return. Romance and mystery abound in the third part of the Murder Mystery series. Will Jane get her happily-ever-after? Will her scientist in-law survive to give the world a miracle cure? If you like amateur sleuths, great characters, and quirky humor, then you’ll love this suspenseful page-turner. But it today to take a tromp through the Australian rainforest!
Murder Mystery In Melbourne, #1 - Started slow but the story picked up after a few pages. The characters are good; Zora is my favorite with Nick a close second. The story lines are interesting and after a while I was immersed in the pages. 4*
Murder Mystery on the Murray, #2 - While a little wordy, this story is interesting. Good characters. Good story lines with a good blending of the old with the new. A cult of over thirty years in existence but with new bits to update cult life. 4*
Murder Mystery on Thornton Peak, #3 - I like this better than the second book, which still was a good story. Interesting and intense with the subject matter, scientific and political, and the variety of characters. Well written, although Jane and Marta got on my nerves most of the story, with a good blending of the old and new story lines. Russell is a fun, interesting character along with Zora, of course. 5*
Murder Mystery in Toorak, #4 - Well written. Plenty of good, realistic characters. Interesting story lines. While I had a feeling who the murderer was, but not the motive, this was an interesting and entertaining story. Good drama. Good humor. a couple of "oh, my gosh" surprises to add even more meat to the story. I appreciated that some of my favorites from the Bible were quoted throughout the story. There is plenty for non-Christians to enjoy: gays; transgenders; shack ups, etc. 5*
Crime In The Country - Hard to put down. An interesting, intriguing read with a variety of interesting characters and immersing story lines. Good range of emotions, and believable dialogues. A touch of romance and humor, too. Good pace from the beginning. 5*
Death and Diamonds, #2 - I absolutely enjoyed this book. Funny, filled with drama, bad luck, miracles and love, I could not put the book down, until my phone needing charging, but just to 50%. Good characters. Good story lines. Well written. If you enjoy the movies Hard Word and Dirty Deeds, you'll like this series. 5*
Killer in the Vineyard, #3 - This book is more intense than the previous books. Sylvie is hard at work getting into trouble and falling in love. Good characters. Well written story lines. A successful blending of the old with the new made this addition to the series an interesting, intriguing read with a bit of humor through out. 4*
Mob Wife - I read this after Crime In The Country but it did not matter. The introduction to a young Vince and how their life together started. The first pregnancy occurs here. There will be a 16-year gap between the ending of this story and the start of the next, but all is explained in CITC. Read this first, then CITC. 5*
When I started reading this book, I wasn't sure I could handle all the frog and science information! Science was definitely my least liked subject all the way through college! However, I started learning something and the story got so good I couldn't stop reading. I love the characters , Jane and Dominic, and absolutely loved the story line at the end of the book regarding them. I thought Jane was very brave to set out on the climb to Thornton Peak to rescue her sister in law. I never would physically have been able to endure that climb. Also, the descriptions of the dangerous plants and insects would have traumatized me. This book concentrated on Jane's sister in law's discovery of a new drug which could come from frog secretions. The Chinese were out to steal her idea which could lead to a much wanted weight loss drug. They will go to any lengths to keep her from patenting the drug. If you like mystery, romance, some tragedy, and comedy, you will love this volume in her mystery series! *I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
WOW, what a ride. A thieving collage, espionage-by China Operative- a socially awkward, but brilliant professor. She didn’t let the thief of her FR20 stop her. Her sister in law Jane comes to see her niece Willa is in a life threatening situation, her mom is MIA. Jane with her-boyfriend, lover, friend, oh so awkward- Dominic PI. Poor Gordon, he was another brilliant colleague died because of his Pink sleeping bag. Go to find missing Marta- and save her life, and help her get to get her study back on track… you will laugh at some of the zany character's. I will encourage you to read this series!
Murder on Thornton Peak was the first book by Victoria Kosky that I have read. Marla has developed a new drug which would revolutionize the pharmaceutical world. The problem is there are people around who would do anything to get their hands on the drug and have stolen the only vials of it that exist. After a slightly slow start, the story ramps up as Marla heads to Thornton Peak in search of the frogs that are an integral part of the drug, and her sister-in-law Jane searches for Marta because it appears she has disappeared. Lots of excitement ensues with a sprinkling of romance to make for an enjoyable read.
Some roads are filled with dips and speed bumps; some with mountain peaks. Jane and Marta face literal jungles and bombs themselves and in their friends and family circles.
Colleagues and loved ones who should have exhibited loyalty share deceptions and betrayals to extreme and lethal degrees
With a great deal of perseverance, determination and just plain gutting things out, these ladies do their best to hang on and to try to move ahead
Powerful stories of a whole lot of crazy, mixed with betrayal and some strong support and love in a few wacky and exceptional people

This is the first book I have read by Victoria Kosky but it won't be my last. This is the third book in this series but I will definitely go back and get the others.
The main character Jane goes on a vacation with her boyfriend. Naturally everything goes wrong. Jane's sister in law ends up missing and her niece is attacked by a crocodile. Jane's boyfriend is a PI so they start looking for her SIL. They are hiking in the rain forest in Australia and everything is out to get them. Deadly snakes, plants and a killer all have to be dealt with.

This was a fast paced and enjoyable book. Jane Christie and her boyfriend, Dominic, attempt to find her sister-in-law, Marta Hochstetter, a brilliant scientist, who disappeared from her home in Brisbane. Marta was the victim of thieves who stole her research information on a revolutionary product that could cure obesity. Can Jane and Dominic find Marta before something worse than the theft of her research happens to her? I highly recommend this book to other mystery readers. I received an ARC of this book, and the opinion expressed is strictly my own.
I loved this murder mystery. I think this is MS. Kosky's best book yet. The mystery, the quirky characters who give us a little chuckle, beautiful descriptive landscapes and the thrill of the chase are all combined to make this an action packed, suspense filled story the will have your heart pounding right to the last page. I would highly recommend it. I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review.
Murder on Thornton Peak: Laughter Never Gets Old (Mystery Books Book 3), my first read from author Victoria Kosky. December seemed to be my month for new authors and January looks to continue the trend. I prefer mystery and thrillers & this didn't disappoint. I was gifted a free copy and I'm voluntarily reviewing it because every good books need reviews. I look forward to more from this author and in this series since I've started it with book 3. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Excellent! Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2021 Loved this story! Jane and all the other characters are well written individuals. The setting plays a huge part in this story. The twists and turns and what’s around the next bend all kept me guessing to the end. I think this might be the best in this series so far (until I read the next one)! I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Jane sets off on a trek up Thornton Peak to rescue her sister-in-law with only the help of an unusual guide. Jane's missing sister-in-law may have discovered a new drug which enemies were trying to steal no matter what they had to do to keep her from filing a patent for the drug. The tension rises as the story line moves the reader further up Thornton Peak and its dangers. Will they survive? Will Jane find her missing sister-in-law?
This is the kind of book that hooks you and won’t let go. It is suspenseful, has lots of humour and gives you a fascinating glimpse into the world of peptide research and of the wildlife of the Daintree Rainforest. Although Jane, Dominic and Zora play a significant part, to me Marta was the heroine of the story. She had me laughing out loud with her down to earth thoughts and her reactions to Gus’s attempts to seduce her. I highly recommend this book.
Not quite up to previous stories the end was very predictable and there was a distinct lack of humour, except for Zora's Pidgin English. Hopefully this will be rectified in future stories
A pins and needles mystery with a side of romance. I couldn't put the book down as I wasn't sure what would happen next. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.
Science is not my forte, so I was a little apprehansive about reading this book. However, these parts of the book were simply explained, so you do not require a great understanding of science. I did not find the book humorous, but I did like the way the author wrote chapters from different perspectives, so the reader knows what is occuring from all aspects. I look forward to readng the next book
