Freedom in the Mountain Wind (Book 1)

The last epic journey before her life changes forever.

Susanna Wilkins will do anything to make her father’s final dream come true, including trek along the path Lewis and Clark explored into the untamed wilds of the Rocky Mountains. Every mile is more crucial now that lung cancer is stealing Pa’s last days faster than she can come to terms with losing him. The journey becomes harder than she ever expected, but paddling upriver through fierce rapids and fighting hungry grizzlies isn’t what terrifies her the most.

Beaver Tail endured more than he can stand from the women in his Blackfoot camp, but the last disaster gave him the final shove he needed to join this band of brothers searching for one of their group who’s gone missing. The last thing he expected was to find a white woman and her sick father stranded at the base of a massive waterfall. His plan is to help them carry their oversize canoe and supplies, then leave them to their strange mission. Yet, the more he learns about the pair, the more he realizes his life is about to be derailed—again.

Hope in the Mountain River (Book 2)

This epic journey is not at all what she expected.

Joel Vargas can’t believe he’s lost his older brother in the wilds of the Rocky Mountains after surviving their harrowing voyage across the Atlantic. And he can’t shake the feeling that Adam—his only living relative—is in dire trouble. No matter what the cost, he and his band of friends won’t stop until Adam is found. He’s not sure if two Indian women they meet on the way will be a help or hindrance.

After the devastating loss of her daughter and husband to a grizzly attack, Elan is desperate to find an escape from her grief. As she and her friend journey from their Nez Perce camp, through the mountains and toward the great river, a band of white men is the last thing she expects to find, especially as winter blows in full force.

When the dangers increase, accomplishing Joel’s mission becomes the only hope for all their survival. If the elements don’t consume them, Elan has a feeling life will never be the same for any of them.

Light in the Mountain Sky (Book 3)

This epic journey may seal her fate forever.

Determined to prove her worth, Meksem fiercely fought to earn her place among the warriors in her Nez Perce camp. When her half-sister is captured by an enemy tribe, she refuses to trust the rescue to anyone else. But her new friends insist on joining her mission, and she battles between relief and frustration at their presence. Especially the white man who peers at her as if he can see through the face of the warrior she struggles so hard to maintain.

Spaniard Adam Vargas thrives on adventure wherever his travels take him. He’s fallen in love with this Rocky Mountain wilderness, as well as the spotted horses the Nez Perce tribe raise. His fascination with this Indian maiden-turned-warrior catches him off guard though, including the way she seems to be fighting for more than her sister’s safe return.

Freedom in the Mountain Wind: It takes an unusually strong, brave young woman to accompany her father who is dying of lung cancer while he retraces the route of Lewis and Clark up the Missouri River in 1830! I admired Susanna Wilkins from the start! They started the trip with guides but they had all disappeared! Susanna's father was still determined to reach the mountains! As they neared the Great Falls, four men including an English speaking Indian and two Spaniards offer to help them. Beaver Tail was a hero as he continues helping the Wilkins on their treacherous trip and falling in love with Susanna even as Mr. Wilkins' health deteriorates! They faced injuries, a buffalo stampede and a forest fire! You will love reading Freedom in the Mountain Wind by Misty M. Beller!
Hope in the Mountain River: Hope in the Mountain River continues Joel's search for his brother, Adam! You will enjoy knowing the background from book 1 in the Call of the Rockies series but Hope in the Mountain River is also good as a stand alone book. Joel and his friends face dangers including gunshot wounds and ice on a river breaking in the Rockies as they climb upward during snow storms and cold temperatures! Elan, a Nez Perce widow, is an extremely strong character as she guides the group to Adam.
Light in the Mountain Sky: What better thing could you read about on a hot September day than snow! I met most of the characters in Light in the Mountain Sky in earlier books in this series and was glad to revisit them! Meksem is the female protagonist who can fight like a warrior and is determined to rescue her pregnant sister from the Blackhawks who have stolen her and two others from an Indian village! Adam is a man determined to not be a hindrance to Meksem's mission even though he is not fully recovered from a previous injury. There are many different characters including a Blackhawk warrior, a Nez Perce maiden, a Frenchman, and Spaniards as well as white men who work together. You will wonder if everyone will survive the trek in the snow covered Rocky Mountains. I enjoyed the part that the special spotted horse played in the book. I recommend Light in the Mountain Sky to others. I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.

You are lucky in reading these books I had to wait months for the next one, you get them all in one place. Misty M. Beller is a master of storytelling and will draw you in with her descriptions of the locale.

FREEDOM IN THE MOUNTAIN WIND
Fantastic
Misty M. Beller just keeps writing better and better stories. I fell in love with Susanna and Beaver Tail. Susanna’s devotion to her father and getting him west to the mountains. What is there not to love about Beaver Tail, Caleb, French and Joel? Kind frontiersmen willing delay their journey to help Wilkins achieve his goal of getting to the mountains. The author gives us wonderful characters, story line and beautiful descriptions of the land. She has turned me into a reader of her descriptions of the land and environment. I can feel the cold, hear the waterfalls and see the magnificent mountains. I highly recommend this book.

HOPE IN THE MOUNTAIN RIVER
WOW, WOW, WOW
I have read all the books in this and her other series and Misty M. Beller continues to impress me. Her characters are strong and interesting. Her story line compels you to keep reading, and reading and reading, forget sleeping. I’ve mentioned in previous reviews I’ve mentioned that I normally have a hard time with stories with detailed descriptions. Ms. Beller had changed my mind on that. Her descriptions take you to winter in the mountains. You will feel like you need to look for a blanket to curl up in. The only problem with finishing this book is how long it will be to the next one. Enjoy.

LIGHT IN THE MOUNTAIN SKY
Misty M. Beller always touches my heart and senses. I can see the land where this story occurs. I have previously learned to keep tissues handy when reading these books and this one was no exception.

Three friends seek God's will for there lives and find His love

In Book 1 Beaver Tail a young half English, half Blackfoot brave feels the white man's God call on his life. The call is even stronger after he and his friends interrupt the search for Joel's brother Adam to help Susanna and her father follow a portion of Lewis and Clark's journey west.
Susanna's father is dying from consumption and together they chose to go west a see the wild western land Lewis and Clark wrote about in their Journal's a when Susanna's father notices the attraction between his daughter and Beaver Tail he has one concern, Beaver Tail doesn't have a relationship with Jesus as his Savior. Would BT be willing to convince Susanna and her father that he has the relationship because of his love for the kind and beautiful Susanna or would it be better for him to continue the journey he and his friends were on to find Joel's brother Adam?

Adventure into the great unknown.

This series has made me think hard about God's love for us and his way of always seeing the good in us. The travelers in the vast mountains and the weary travelers meeting danger at every corner had me gripping my fingers tight around my device that I read on. It brought so many emotions to the surface. I invite you to experience what I did while reading this series. Only one thing I would advise this bestselling author is.. please make the scenes shorter. Sometimes I wanted the travelers to hurry up. LOL. It was amazing!

Read book one. I guess I have it two stars, because I finished it. But the two sequels will most likely remain unopened. Maybe I’ve read too much Christian romance/historical fiction, but this to me, just seemed like one cheesy cliche after the next. I’m
not saying “Beaver Tail” couldn’t possibly be a real American Indian name, but to me, it sounded like a name someone who had never met a Native American, might make up. I just had a really hard time with this.
There was a bit of unexpected action, that kept me reading, but overall, all 100% expected.

The Call of the Rockies series is one that I've been waiting to read. I wasn't disappointed! Misty is a master at describing the surroundings of her books in the context of the era in which she writes. I love the vividness of the wilderness settings and the strong characters that forged the unsettled West. Each love story had its own obstacles but they were faced head on and love prevailed. This is one author whose books I will always be looking forward to reading.

Excellent. Action packed, heart in your throat, yet so full of heart, spirit, and faith. Love these books. You have to suspend disbelief as they survive clearly unsurvivable injuries and situations, but that’s what life is like as a Christian. We just move from one miracle to another with our hearts in our throats and prayers on our lips. But why, oh why, didn’t someone put hobbles on that damn horse?

Excellent series.

Each book is an adventure that takes the reader into new territory and the friendships carry through all 3 books. Each book leads to a new story line but continues forward to the next one. Each main character has found the God of the white man. Very inspirational.

Three wonderful Misty Beller books. I enjoyed reading them one after the other. These stories are action packed with a lot of hardship for the characters. I loved reading about the loyalty and love they had for their friends . It was fun to read about the love blossoming between the main characters. An enjoyable read. Glad there are more of these books in the series.
