Wolves are natural born hunters…but this time, we’re the prey.
I never expected to find a second mate. When my first mate didn’t immediately kill him, I was hopeful—only to have those hopes dashed when their packs turned against us. We were deemed unnatural. A threat. Something to be destroyed.
Now we’re on the run with nowhere to hide.
As if that’s not enough, my old alpha’s obsession with me hasn’t ended. News of my unusual relationship must have reached him by now, but I know he won’t give up.
I need to figure out what having more than one mate means. The fates don’t do that kind of thing lightly, so it’s up to the three of us to find out why we were chosen.
An oracle is our only hope, a wise woman who can help us, but only if we can get to her before either of the packs find us. And, hopefully, without me mating with any more wolves on the way...

USA Today bestselling author Helen Scott spends her time alternating between fantasy and reality. She likes to think she’d be sorted into Hufflepuff and would have been a Physical Kid from Brakebills. Her days are fueled by tea and cuddles from her four-legged kids and amazing husband in their home in the Chicago suburbs.
When not reading or writing, Helen can be found baking, enjoying a walk in the woods, crafting, or playing video games. She’s a lover of sushi and K-Dramas and is convinced there is magic in the world if you know where to look.
Whether paranormal or contemporary, Helen loves writing sassy, kick-butt heroines and drool-worthy love interests. She's the author of the House of Wolves and Magic series, the Cerberus series, and the Of Demons and Dragons series.
Just no. How old are they? Were they born yesterday with all the stupid decisions they make? It was just painful to read and i can't continue this series.
Her Fated Mates is the second book in the House of Wolves and Magic series, it was filled with mystery and magic. I loved every second of it. Helen Scott has completely won me over with this book that is filled with sexy alpha wolf shifters, a tough-as-nails female lead who can handle herself in a fight, and non-stop action.
The story pickups right where Her Dark Moon left off, with Nina, Micah, and Roman running from Roman's and Micah's old pack only to learn that Nina's old pack is still hunting her down. One pack is stuck in a negative way of thinking no one could or should have more than one mate, who is so disapproving they are willing to hunt down members of their own pack to make them pay for something that isn't under their control and this is the pack that is supposed to be good ones, better than Nina's old pack but I'm not so sure. Not to mention Nina's old pack who is lead by Jax want her for what seems to be very dark reasons and they are a pack who treats woman as worthless objects and are willing to do anything to anyone to get what or in this case who they want.
Things aren't looking good, there are very few places to run but when they do get a chance to rest the bond between Nina, Roman and Micah steadily grows. The bond is not only growing stronger but changing everyone for the better. Nina who isn't used to relying on anyone is willing to lean on her mates (only when necessary and it's like pulling teeth but still she does), Roman who is all hard alpha male has gotten a softer side and Micah has gained a warmness that he didn't have before. They each care for each other, while Nina is in love with the guys and they each love her but Roman and Micah have gained a brother through this relationship. If Nina thought that she was only getting two mates she is so wrong, a third mate is introduced, and while introductions were rocky (and let's face it, they always are for Nina) things turn out great. I like Nina's new addition, he seems to click with the other guys fairly easily, he bonds to Nina rather quickly and rounds out the group like he's always been there.
My favorite quote: "For a long time, I’d known I had a little crazy in me, but for the last few years, or rather, ever since I’d first felt the violent impulses stir within me, I’d blocked them out. Pushed them down. I did everything I could to be a normal, kind-hearted woman, but sometimes… sometimes, you needed to flip the bitch switch and show them just how crazy you could be."
The anticipation, the tension, the sexual energy, action, mystery, and magic are just some of the reasons why I loved Her Fated Mates. Scott has done such a great job with the characters, I love Nina and her guys and am totally rooting for them. Then there is this crazy plot that I have no idea where it's going, everything was a surprise and it's great. Scott has a compelling storyline with not only a little wolf mythology but there is a certain scene that hints at a much bigger and juicier plot coming and I for one cannot wait. Nina and her guys jump out of the frying pan and into the fire, and it looks like only the Oracle has the answers they need. Up next is Her Shadowed Wolves and I am stoked.
Continuing on from book 1 with Nina (FMC), Roman & Micah still on the run trying to evade two packs. More secrets are uncovered, a new man enters Nina's life, backstabbing as well as plenty of steam, fast-paced tension and a some violence. Nina comes into her own more in this book. More so than book 1 where she now she has mates to protect and stand by. It made her a stronger character and i liked that side of her. Im loving reading this series and i cant wait for the next book now
We catch back up with Nina and her two mates as they flee for their lives. Hiding is their best option but it won't be easy. With a moments reprieve they find themselves lives against enemies whether they like it or not. Every time they think they are safe or even a second fate intervenes proving otherwise. Full of surprise twists and lots of action the story keeps you hooked from page one making for one fantastic read. I cannot wait to see what is next for this group. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
This is a good second book. It’s full of sexy wolves, mystery , magic, non stop action and a kick ass heroine that can certainly hold her own! There’s a few surprises and twists and turns and the relationships between Nina and her mates continues to grow and develop! I look forward to where the next book takes us!
HHer Fated Mates by Helen Scott is an awesome story that I have had the privilege to read and give my honest review on. This is book number two in this awesome series that I am so hooked on and can not wait to read the rest of this awesome series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about reverse harem, wolf shifters, dark and paranormal romance.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This second instalment was crazy and readers won’t expect everything that happens in this book. Nina faces her demons head on in this book with her two mates as they roy to sort out their relationship and the danger unfolding.
I couldn’t wait for the next instalment as the changes in this book was crazy and right up my alley. Nina has become quiet the lead in her own right and I do wonder how she going to survive things now
Action, intrigue, and more steam than a steam train Book one was good and book two doesn't disappoint! On the run with Two mates Nina and her guys now have two packs to hide from just because their bond in unnatural and doesn't fit within the order of things currently in their world. Things aren’t as they seem and more will be revealed i am sure as the series goes on. Does Nina make sum dumb decisions in this book as per comments on a couple of reviews - yes she does but she is under duress and lets face it and bring things down to a more realistic expectations - none of us makes rational decisions whilst under duress so i think it just adds to the storey. If there is this much heat with 2 mate and a 3rd new one just imagine how steamy it will be when the next two enter the storey - cant wait as loving this series.
DNF 56% Too many things don't make sense in this book: their behaviours, decisions, and personalities. The fact that they are all in love because of the mate bond even if they don't know each other is highly disturbing. They're just slaves of the fate and their hormones. (!!! spoiler !!!) The way the third mate suddenly changed his mind and moved from violent kidnapper to lover is unrealistic. And I don't speak about the constantly bad decisions they took... (`皿´#) I prefer not wasting my time any more with this serie. Sorry author.
I liked book 1 a lot but book 2 continues the cycle of putting the FMC, Nina, through the wringer. She really can't catch a break. Also, in book #1 I thought she made some bad decisions, like continuing her utterly predictable routine despite knowing that someone could easily find her and abduct her just by knowing her daily routine, and going home after being abducted and stalked by Jaxon despite being aware that he would most probably know where she lives. Well, in book #2 she makes more stupid decisions, no. 1 being moving closer and closer to a human holding a gun with silver bullets and trying to talk sense to the clearly terrified woman, instead of using her shifter speed to ambush the woman and grab the gun.
In book 2, Nina adds Blake to her harem, and I was thinking that statistically, which guy would be overjoyed to suddenly imprint and be mate-bound to a woman who had just beat the crap out of him?? Yet Blake is unfazed, nothing is mentioned about Nina's viciousness, and all is smoothed over and forgotten, just like that.
Roman starts looking less alpha--less strong and capable--because things keep falling apart and his leadership skills don't seem to be helping. Plus, he stands around arguing with Blake and Micah about what to do while Nina is dying from silver poisoning right in front of their eyes. I swear I wanted to roll my eyes, like FOCUS, you guys! Priorities!
Nina has ZERO ability to follow orders nor to do the smart thing. She loses her cool and goes for direct confrontation when the guys are trying to draw out information slowly. She puts herself in direct line of fire when a woman brandishes a gun with silver bullets. (I covered that already, I know.) She insists on getting involved in stuff when she's injured and then of course, because she's physically weak, she becomes the weak link and can't do anything to help herself, much less her mates, when they are surrounded by the enemy.
I couldn't figure out why they had to go to Jaxon's pack lands and find a way to get Blake out of there. The agreement was that Blake would basically be there undercover and he would get away and get to them when he could. But for some reason, Roman and Micah think he needs "rescuing" and then after that Nina thinks she has to go rescue them.
I was just so annoyed at the bad decisions they kept making. They knew the mate house was compromised when the bugs were planted, but instead of getting out of dodge they stay there because they want to confront the guy and get information, all the while remaining sitting ducks for the pack. They KNOW they're outnumbered by the pack and being hunted by TWO packs and still they stay put even when they know the place has been compromised. Just like after they knew the cabin had been compromised, they continued staying there, too!
I am reading book #3 but if they continue being so dumb and TSTL, that's it! And all these "I love you"s with Roman and Micah were like... what??? You barely met them and know nothing about them, just mainly had hot sex with them! I know there's the mate bond which allows you to sense each other's emotions and creates that connection, but that's still very different from love. She said herself that if the bond is forced, then there are people who are mated but who don't love each other and then the relationship devolves into bitterness. So it's not a given that they'd fall in love, and I really didn't believe it.
Her Fated Mates is book two in Helen Scott’s House of Wolves and Magic series. While things pick up where book one left off with Nina, Roman, and Micah being on the run for Fate bringing them together and making them now a triad, this book isn’t really what I was expecting. Things do get interesting in this book, but I was a bit disappointed with the overall pace and at times, even the thought processes of some of the characters as well. I devoured the first book in this series, but it seems that book two loses its path a bit. With Nina and her mates on the run I was expecting things to be a bit more fast-paced. They’re being hunted by not one but two packs. One for daring to be different (something obviously totally out of their control) and another pack because the alpha, Jax, is crazy and has his own secret agenda…something that they really need to find out. The pace of this book is really slow at times which is disappointing for me. This author usually never fails to grab my attention and keep me engaged, but I struggled a bit with this book. From the cover of this book I knew that Nina was going to acquire another mate, the question simply arose…who and when? I will admit I got a little impatient with that element, but it does happen in a timely manner so don’t worry. LOL! There is quite a bit of steamy/sexy time in this book. I get it. They’re all newly bonded/mated and this is part of the territory regardless of the fact that they should really try to keep it in their pants since danger is literally looming all around them. This book has some engaging moments that managed to pull me back in, but then it slips away at others sometimes simply because I just get annoyed with the characters. I’ll admit that my eyebrows raised more than once when Nina suggests or does things that really, for me, show that she’s not really thinking things through. She suggests she go to Jax as a “prisoner” to pretend she was caught. Obviously…she wasn’t thinking the whole thing through otherwise that would have never been a voiced suggestion…it’d have been a thought train that was allowed to simply depart and never be voiced. She escalates one situation that results in more issues as well. Since she can’t shift she’s basically a stronger than average human. I like that for the most part she can hold her own, but I don’t fully agree with her constantly wanting to act like she can take care of herself all the time. She needs help and since she has her mates now…she should be willing to take all the help she can get until she can shift again. This book was not my favorite of the series and I felt that it wasn’t as good as the first. I’m choosing to rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. It’s a little too much of Nina feeling like she has to “prove” herself when it’s not necessary at all. It’s a bit too rehashed how she’s been on her own and taken care of herself for all these years. I’m hopeful that the next book will have a better pace and be more engaging.
I'm really frustrated - I enjoyed the first book but Nina drove me mad in this book!
Too much repetitive internal dialogue much of which I ended up skipping just to get to the end of the book. It left me with mental whiplash; one minute she can't handle being outside at night (with her mates) because she isn't safe, and the next minute she's ditching them whilst they sleep and running miles at night by herself through deserted woodland with a killer on the loose.
The "I'm a strong independent woman" bit was so over the top; one mate jokes that he prefers her without a bra under her t-shirt in a situation where she can't wear one due to a) not having one and b) her current injury. Her internal dialogue is a self-righteous rant about not changing herself for her mate. At no point did he say "you should give up wearing a bra forever". Note also, that her alpha mates certainly change themselves for her - they throw away any common sense!!
Then there was the control freak behaviour; she out cold having been shot with a silver bullet but furious that her mates made a decision without her. They did it to save her life but she'd probably rather have died than let them think for themselves. These are three Alphas we are talking about, not pathetic blokes who can't manage a decision between them. I hate it when the big strong Alphas are emasculated by a domineering control freak woman.
But, by far the most challenging for me was her stupidity and selfishness; think of the worst action she could take in every situation and it's what she does, dragging the others in with her and then somehow passing off the blame with her never-ending internal dialogue. The strong alpha heroes are so in love with her they can't use common sense, reasoning or compromise. No (!) they just stupidly follow (even though their internal dialogue knows it's going to end in disaster) where the idiot leads because they love her so much.
Although I have enjoyed the storyline, my frustration levels can't take another installment of Nina and her Alphas, so I won't be reading the next book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
We continue to follow Nina and her mates Roman, Micah, and (now a third) Blake as they run from their packs who definitely won't accept them, will feel they are a bad omen or unnatural in the shifter world. Jaxon and his pack (of which Blake is/was a member of) are at the front of the effort to locate and capture Nina. He still believes that Nina is his, that he was meant to be her Fated Mate/develop the mate bond with her even though it didn't happen naturally nor did it work when he tried to force it upon her with the aid of a potion concocted by a witch (or magic user equivalent in this universe). In this story we learn that Jax (and the alphas before him) were taking information from an Oracle who told each of them to keep Nina close, to keep her in the pack because of some unknown reason which Nina and her mates vow to find out. Nina especially wants to know why this Oracle has deemed it necessary to ruin her life in this way, to ensure that she would always be running, always battling. After a few near misses that include betrayal from a friend, silver poisoning, torture, and a fire, the fated mates decide that their best bet is to keep running and keep running as far and as fast as possible. With no one left to assist them, they are now on their own.
This one is good, but it definitely isn't as captivating as the first book was which doesn't mean that I won't read the rest of the series! It just means that this (like every series) is a bit weaker. It's still a solid story that goes pretty fast and is very sexy in parts! The way to look at this particular installment is to look at it as a way to get to know the characters a little more and to set up what I hope the author will get to in the next book (i.e. more information on why Nina has three mates and why the alphas of her old pack wanted to find her and keep her with them). I'm going to be honest, I'm not 100% a fan of Nina and I don't see what makes her so special yet. I do, however, like Roman, Micah, and Blake so I'm hoping that things will be better explaining and soon because I want to be more of a Nina fan!
Well the decision making definitely didn't get better
Honestly the storyline for this series is fantastic. If it were just based on the storyline aspect, I'd definitely be much more in love with this series. There's unfortunately some major issues though. I can't stand the fmc. On paper so to speak, she's just my kind of gritty that makes her incredibly interesting. The problem is, she makes decisions like an adhd child. Not to mention, for shifters on the run... they sure didn't run. Like at all. My life in danger? My loved ones under threat? We can live on the streets darling, we cool. These shifters... Yea no. It's... mind boggling and beyond annoying. None of the decisions make sense and spoiler alert here but... wtf decision making went into going onto Jax's pack lands? She's hurt and obviously out of her mind. Does the mate bond make people stupid? Cuz that's the only thing I can think. As an elder wolf, Roman at the very least should've made better decisions not just... well I want her to be happy..
It's not that this series doesn't have promise. It's just that there's so many books out there where the main characters actually make appropriate decisions and the story still moves forward without having to put themselves in needless danger. Just like in horror movies... you leave. You don't go looking. That's how people die!
When you're on the run and being hunted by 2 wolf packs, what do you do? A) stop ogling each other, make a decision without spending 2 hours discussing every nuance and possible problem that could arise, hunker down somewhere that isn't affiliated in any way, shape or form, and use the money one of your mates has at their disposal Or B) paw at each other constantly, put yourself in stupid situations where you know you're going to lose but do it because "you can take care of yourself", pretend like you know how to hide, hunt and take care of yourself when you really don't, and let your mates be seriously hurt because of your own idiocy?
The h of this book is B. I found myself getting constantly frustrated with her lack of self preservation skills. She'd put herself into a dangerous situation, then cry when one of her mates gets hurt, and thinks yelling at them will help? Like??? You were the cause of this problem?? The plot line is pretty decent, but the constant dumb errors the h makes doesn't help in any way.
Nina and her two mates are on the run, but dangers and betrayal are everywhere. They learn the hard way there is no one to trust, especially if they are hunted by more than one pack. Nevertheless, the bond is strong, and only grows stronger with every challenge faced, and addition of another mate does not harm the already existing triad at all.. Better than book one, I could connect with the characters more, even though it was not perfect yet. I liked Blake as the newest addition, as well as the situation that led to him joining the group. There are some seriously hot scenes included, as well as scenes where the danger is totally obvious and screaming into the characters' faces that this is a bad idea... yet still they do it for the sake of the mate bond. The ending creates a great opening to the next book, and if the tension will escalate further the way it did in this book, I will enjoy the next one even better.
We pick up basically where we left off in the first book, with Nina and her mates on the run from 2 packs now. The alpha of her former pack is still obsessed with having her as a mate and it seems like they are surrounded by enemies, but there is some good that comes of it all when Nina meets her third mate. It may have been a rocky introduction, but he meshes well with them all and seems like a great character. While Nina frustrated me at times, I also had to remember that she is still learning how to integrate her independent personality with the fact that she has 3 not 1 mate and learning how to communicate with everyone is a work in progress. I did enjoy this read, it was well paced, has a great storyline and unique, diverse characters. I will definitely be reading the next installment!
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.
Nina, Roman, and Micah are on the run from Jaxon of Nina’s old pack and from members of Roman and Micah’s pack. Jax wants to make Nina into a babymaking machine to strengthen his pack and Roman and Marcus’s old pack wants to destroy them because they think of Nina as an abomination – no one should have more than one mate. Dealing with Jax’s pack has Nina learning about an oracle. She also acquires another mate, this one from Jax’s pack, Blake.
The acceptance of each mate by the other seems different from what had happened with multiple mate couples, the males killed each other. This doesn’t seem to be the case with Nina’s men. Come read for attempted murder, betrayal, and fighting for survival.
Nina's story continues and oh boy this gets crazy. So if you thought the first one had a lot of action well, this one may have a bit more. So we know that not only is Nina's old pack looking for her so is Romans. One of her attackers however, is also a mate. So let's meet Blake. Nina has been on the run for a long time and she does not trust easily. We also learn that there is an oracle who knows a lot about Nina. It is why Jax is after her. She wants to know why she has three mates. Before she finds out more information, the action comes again. There is a betrayal that occurs and how will that be handled. I mean will she ever get a break. I definitely liked this one more than the first book only because we get a little more information. We still end on a cliffy and now we really have to wait to find out if she will get to meet the oracle.
With no one to trust, Nina, a female wolf shifter, and her mates Roman and Micah, are on the run from two packs now because the multiple mates situation is too strange for the others to accept. They should probably hide, but there seems to be no place safe to go.
Nina is afraid that her old alpha’s obsession with her hasn’t ended; she knows he won’t give up. They need to figure out the purpose for having multiple mates. What does it mean? What are they supposed to accomplish? They must have some sort of purpose or the fates would not allow this. An oracle is the only hope of getting an answer, but they must get to her before they are captured.
This story is full of twists and turns and fills the reader with a sense of urgency to keep eagerly reading and find out the answers. Grab your copy and see if they can keep one step ahead of the packs chasing them.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "HER FATED MATE'S" Helen Scott did a great job writing this unique, mysterious, interesting, entertaining, suspense filled drama, with danger, magic, threats, twists that have you glued to your seat. Nina, Roman & Micha two packs after them her alpha Jax is obsessed with her he wants her for his own nefarious reason women in her old pack are treated like their worthless her mates pack don't agree with more than one mate. The Oracle has answered Nina & her mates need not only that there's a third mate Blake from her old look pack that enters the picture will he fit into the mix that's already working. I definitely recommend to get this book so we'll worth the read will they get the answers they need in the next book I so am looking forward to reading "HER SHADOW WOLVES"
I love this series with a passion. An FMC who is at odds with what feels like the entire world just because she has more mates than usual!
The emotional intelligence of the characters is refreshing and honestly quite lovely! The guys are amazing and are all unique, so they bring something different to the table, which is enjoyable because carbon-copy personalities are no fun!
Of course, there are those steamy scenes we all love! The plot is not just all romance and steam though! It has a depth that makes it interesting and although some questions were answered, many remain. There are so many things I need to know, and hopefully, all will be answered by the end!
I am really looking forward to where this is heading and cannot wait for the next release.
Helen Scott is killing me with this book! She gave so many easter eggs of what is to come with this series while having me on the edge of my seat the whole time! Nina isn't done fighting in this world and she will do anything she can to stay out of Jax's clutches and now she is being hunted by not just one pack but two! The men get put through danger and then we get an interesting little twist with a hint of more to come with Nina. There is plenty of steam in this book and I could not get enough of the story. I was drawn in by everything that is happening with Nina and how everyone wants her for some reason yet it is still unknown but Nina is special. You cannot trust anyone though and Nina and the men learn that in a hard way. I am dying to find out what happens next in this series!
I enjoyed the first book. I like the male characters, but the female character is too dumb for me in this book. She consistently does stupid things that put her and her mates in danger. The plot in this one is lacking for me. They are running from 2 packs, one of her mates is rich and has a nice car, why are they on foot and without resources? I understand adding the extra mate, but the story does not really go anywhere and ends on a cliffhanger. Helen Scott usually writes what I consider entertaining romantic stories. This is an ok story, but not up to her usual standards, The female needs to get her act together before she gets herself and her mates killed.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
3.5 stars This book continues Nina's story of trying to evade Jax, but now she has two mates tagging along. We still don't know exactly why Jax wants Nina so much, its clear its for more than just believing she's his mate. I've got to say that between them they make some really bizarre and dangerous decisions considering they're trying to avoid a whole pack of wolves intent on finding Nina and returning her to their alpha. Nina is a little frustrating, for someone who is hiding, she does like to stay extremely close to her enemy. I did enjoy the take on the wolves way of life and I can see how it will get interesting once they can track down the Oracle. I loved the introduction of Blake, he was a great addition to the team.
Okay, so people aren't happy and Nina and the guys are on the run. Who would expect betrayal at the hands of friends? Nina, obviously. While sad for Roman and Micah that it happened, it's hard to be too upset since fate also brings Blake.
Trying to find somewhere safe and to get answers to the life that's quickly spiraling past out of control to mindless, Nina and the guys are moving forward. Of course life has a mind of its own and all four are reeling.
Helen Scott gives answers and leaves readers panting for more. Her Fated Mates and the House of Wolves and Magic series are seriously fast-paced and full of all the action and adventure you could want when dealing with shifters and their society.
I enjoyed this sequel and found myself ready to fling the book across the room, or phone, by the end of it as I really am impatient to see what happens next. There was a lot going on in this work and it really is needed to read the first in this series or nothing is really going to make sense. I enjoyed the multiple point of view, as it gave me an idea on how the other characters were coping with the situation they were in. The plot was full of twists and turns and you were never quite sure who you could trust. I enjoyed this work overall and I can’t wait to see what happens in the sequel.
I give this a four out of five stars.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So after the first book was okay I thought to give this one a chance.
It was faster paced than the first book. However I think that is where my compliments end.
This book was about 50% sex. Yes you read that right. I was 50% into the book before we got the story really moving along. However the second half of the book the story really did not move at all. We more questions but not a single answer to the questions the MC had.
Speaking of her I am not in love. I feel like she says the words of being a sting women but is not really one. I do really like Roman. I am interested in his back story but after 2 books he does not have one. Micah seems sweet but we don’t have his back story either. I just wish this book was more about the characters than sex.
