When the world stands defenseless against the dark, When banshees bring about the apocalypse of the rich and famous, And death cults harbor millennia-old revenge, Send me. John Hunter isn't bad at this whole monster hunting thing. Along with Shannon and Evan, he's even formed his own company, Hunters for Hire. But events will soon turn deadly as Hunters for Hire is contracted to solve a case so twisted and mysterious, it'll make every conspiracy theory you've heard of sound like just another episode of Golden Girls . On top of that, a rival monster-hunting faction is about to make their debut, and these guys are good - too good. Will they take up all the best-paying jobs leaving John to go back to Top Ramen and pickles?
I'm Jonathan, a husband, father, and writer. I write because that's what I was born to do and I love doing it. Because of the support from awesome people like you, I get to do it full-time.
Book 2 in the sensational Hunters For Hire series, by Jonathan Yanez, is Town Lore, starring John Hunter, his vampire room-mate Evan, plus Jonny's neighbor Shannon - a supernatural (beings) hunter!
Jonny forms Hunters For Hire with Shannon and Evan and signs up with Mrs Grundy's Court. A hostage-rescue situation, becomes more convoluted and dangerous the longer it takes to unravel.
Without a doubt, Town Lore will captivate and thrill you throughout, so get your copy right now!
3.25 Stars. The second installment in the Hunters for Hire series follows Jonny, Shannon, and Evan as they begin turning their monster-hunting adventures into an actual business. As they take on new jobs and face new supernatural threats, they also encounter new allies, rivals, and plenty of unexpected complications along the way.
This was another fun read. One of the things I enjoy most about this series is the cast of characters. Jonny continues to be easy to root for, and the friendship between him, Shannon, and Evan remains the heart of the story. Their banter and loyalty to one another make even the quieter moments enjoyable.
I also liked the addition of the new characters. Expanding the world beyond the core trio helped make the story feel bigger and gave the series room to grow. The alliance with another hunting team added an interesting dynamic, especially since not everyone automatically trusts each other. It was fun watching the groups learn to work together while still maintaining a little friendly rivalry.
Of course, Jonny finding himself interested in one of the hunters on the other team added another layer to the story. The attraction between them was obvious, and it certainly seemed like the feeling was mutual. I'm interested to see where that relationship goes in future books and whether monster hunting leaves much room for romance.
While this book didn't completely reinvent the formula from the first novel, it didn't need to. It delivered exactly what I was looking for: humor, action, supernatural creatures, and a cast of characters that are enjoyable to spend time with.
Town Lore was a fun and entertaining follow-up to The Suck. The series continues to build its world while keeping the lighthearted tone that made me enjoy the first book so much. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where the Hunters for Hire crew goes next.
What is our pretty easy reading? Nothing difficult anyone who doesn’t have a vast vocabulary should have no problem with these say they’re written it maybe a fifth grade level but ultimately they’re a nice easy read but they kind of make me feel like it’s so like a light version of the Dresden files. Maybe they get better as they go. They said they’re not bad not bad stories at all just not in depth not no deep thinking required no real puzzles to solve kind of almost like adult Nancy Drew or Hardy boys with a little bit of Scooby-Doo thrown in, but for adult as there is some adult references in content, this is only book 2 we shall see
Jonathan's humor and creativity make this series one of the most enjoyable ones I have read in a very long time. The characters are realistic and relatable, yet completely unique. They are incredibly well developed and fully loveable (or hate-able, depending lol). I got pulled in and invested very quickly. I enjoyed Jonathan's writing so much, that I branched out to read genres I don't typically read, so I could consume more of his books. I am so happy that I did!
Welcome to the world of hunting, everything and anything going bump in the night!
In this 2nd book of the series, we find the crews loyalties being tested, new members joining, rabbit holes to fall down and hang on tight, things really do go bump in the night. Start on book 1, introduce yourself to the fun and then, read this!! A seriously fun read!!
Wow. This book is beyond what I expected. Suspensful, exciting developments, old friends and new too. Read the first book before this. Too much of the concept will be missed otherwise. Thank You Jonathan Yanez!
Each book in this series gets better. My favorite character right now is Elwood. Not much was said about him. Maybe more later. Frankie is great. A great bunch of characters fighting all types. Keep the great books coming Jonathan. To bad I can't give it 10 stars because I would
Wow! Just WOW! Mr Yanez might have sucked my brain out with this book. Some of the things I could guess, and did,,,but so many more were beyond my ability to imagine. Well done sir, well done.
Johnny has encounters with other worldly, supernatural, angelic beings, hellhounds, and what have you. Mystery gets deeper - who and what and the intentions if everyone are being explored. Great series. Highly recommend. Hunters for Hire #2 Town Lore
Good book nice pace with plenty of humor 😀 only thing I hate is that the mc is so wimpy and kinda simple minded you just have to remember he was a really big nerd with alot of problems growing up and a lame of the highest order. He drags All of his trauma into his adulthood 😢 so that's not sexy and makes me want to punch the mc in the throat alot. But the story is done so well that it it can be overlooked
I have to say, the second book in this series really was good. The addition of the more hunters and other characters has made this plot so much better. I really enjoyed this one and am looking forward to book three.
The Hunters for Hire company is just getting started. The core trio need help. Love the new Administrator who seems to have her own magic to get things done. It’s such a good series. I hadn’t read Yanez’s books before but am hooked now.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat. Johnny is growing so fast. And then there is all the ominous foreshadowing! This girl has to go to work and this makes it so hard to leave!!!
I have to say that Jonathan Yanze has captured a true meaning of a hero in this second book. Action and adventure is overwhelming to me within the pages.
I totally love this series! The new characters brought in are great! We also get the original ones getting better and better!! I'm on to the next one!!
