How do you know when you’ve met the one? For some, it's love at first sight. But things don't always work like that. Sometimes people take time getting to know one another before sparks begin to fly. And people can even fall in love with someone they once considered their enemy.
I, Tara Castro, could for instance, get all caught up in the magic of finding a secret room and fall madly in love with someone who I initially despised. It could be possible for me to find a soulmate in someone I once thought was heartless.
I wouldn't expect to do that, but stranger things have happened.
Brooke St. James is a USA Today bestselling author and Amazon Kindle All-Star. She writes contemporary romance novels with Christian and inspirational themes and happy endings. She was born and raised in south Louisiana but has had the opportunity to travel and live throughout the U.S. An avid reader, writer, audio book addict, and fan of all things artistic, Brooke constantly has her hands in some creative activity. She's currently back home in Louisiana enjoying life with her husband, children, and two lazy dogs.
Tara and Trey are two young adults who get off to a rough start with a meet-not-so-cute, as Trey tactlessly & insensitively announces his plans to raise the rents on his building to Tara - who rents her apartment from him & who's meeting him to discuss renting his store front for the business she's been hoping to open.
Trey is right, and even Tara has to acknowledge it, but that doesn't make it any easier to like him, no matter how good-looking he might be.
As Trey begins fixing the the building up, he finds its longheld secrets - that he doesn't want to share with anyone - except, to his and her surprise, Tara.
All he has to do is survive Tara's overly protective former boxing champion dad, lol
It's a fun story, and the relationship development is very natural & believable. I love Brooke's stories because they always leave me with a smile on my heart!
This is the best yet from the Bank Street Stories series by Brooke St. James. It follows the love story of Tara, Tess and Billy Castro's daughter.
Tara,A ballerina, wants to open a dance studio and art gallery on the first floor of her apartment building in place of a closed jewelry store. She's blindsided by the news that the landlord is planning to double the rent on all the apartments and on the first floor of her apartment building, shattering her dreams. She's also shocked to discover that the evil landlord, Trey Harper, is seriously handsome and agrees to her request to raise her apartment rent gradually, something he doesn't do for the other tenants. When she asks why, he explains that he likes her. The feeling is mutual.
The title fits the book's content... A concern I've had about other books in the series. Trey discovers a secret room between his new apartment and her longtime one during renovation to improve the building and raise the rent. That room becomes Tara and Grey's trysting spot for stolen kisses.
Tess and Billy both warn Trey about Tara's innocence and grill him about his relationship with God. Billy goes so far as to mention Jesus Christ, A step further than the generic "God talks" in previous books. I like that the heroine's parents make that their first question to a prospective suitor for their daughter!
Secret Rooms and Stolen Kisses is a taste moving, fun read and very satisfying. Highly recommended!
I have been reading Brooke St James since her earliest books came out way back in like 2015. Every book since then is an immediate download and read, and I am always glad I did.
Her latest books start with the love story of the parents, and continue with the love story of the kids. I love the background this gives the later books in the series, and the continuation of the first books characters.
This book follows Tara, the child of the first book’s characters, and her love interest Trey. I love to read how Bank Street has grown, and yet remained the same, and how Billy and Tess’a family has grown. I especially loved to read how Billy treats his little girl’s love interest.
🤓 Final thoughts: read them all, and thank me later 🧼 Squeaky Clean: extremely mild language, steamy kisses
Brooke St. James has drawn her characters with great finesse. Tara is Tess and Easy Billy Castro's daughter. Trey is the heir to the building of his great grandmother. They definitely clash the first time they meet. He's talking about raising her rent to almost double. Anyhow there's attraction, but Tara's ballet done for Trey alone in the secret room shows their chemistry. Yet her dad is so protective that he's a little rough when he's showing Trey h o w to box. Read this; it's really fun.
I love how Brooke St. James writes. Her multi-generational series are priceless because we get to fall in love with a generation and then see how they live while falling in love with their children. This is such a sweet story. This secret room is a fun but Tara and Trey stole the show! I always drop what I'm reading on release day because it's so refreshing to read clean good romance with interesting plots and lovable characters!! 5 stars.
I've always been fascinated by secret rooms and finding mysteries and hidden things in architecture. So fun. Good addition to the series. Clean romance, good chemistry, though Trey is a bit of a jerk at first he definitely improves on acquaintance. Tara is a little naive but adorable. Great story that brings me back to when I was a teenager. Recommended, especially if you like the other books in the series.
Lovely little book. I ended up reading it in one sitting. Another great story by this author. I love the secret room! I liked seeing how Billy, being a boxer, treated a man interested in his daughter. Lots of sparing at the gym! Rating: PG, clean, sweet
Once in a life time romance full of fun, mystery, and love. The mix of ballet and boxing, such fun. This is a sweet romance full of clean new love for the young and young at heart.
I love Brooke St James writing because of the good clean language and Christian lines here and there. The stories are interesting and I love having an author I can count on for a good read
You know Billy the # 1 Boxer. Tess the beautiful inside and out Painter. I can’t even describe this book. It will make you laugh out loud, hold your breath and then thinking Really. Enjoy.
