One’s spirit-double is identical in appearance, so the legend goes, even down to the details of the dress. To see one's doppelganger is a sign one's death is imminent.Kayla lived with a friend who witnessed a gang attack on an elderly couple. Her friend agreed to testify. The police promised to protect her, but she died in Kayla’s arms. She blames the police for not keeping their promise. She longs to feel safe and secure again. Hoping a new town and a new business will bring her the peace she longs for, she moves to Stoneybrook, GA. to join an old college friend's medical illustration business. Right after her move to Stoneybrook, Kayla witnesses a drive-by shooting. During all the chaos a woman appears—a woman who, for all intents and purposes, could be Kayla's twin. The drive-by in Stoneybrook during the festival offers a witness who saw the shooters. Frustration grows when the witness won't cooperate. His investigation into the latest drive-by leads him to the startling discovery of clues to his own wife's murder. But Kayla is refusing to cooperate, and Jake is convinced she knows more than she's willing to reveal. Maybe if he can convince her to trust him, he can put his past to rest and have a future he never thought he deserved.
Acclaimed suspense author Shelly Knox has been a professional writer for nearly 30 years. She has published a number of short stories in Sun Magazine and was a regular contributor to True Story, True Confessions and True Romance.
Shelly’s first novel, Twin Deceptions, was re-released in December 2018; and her second novel, Death Wore White, was re-released in early 2019. Her next book, Betrayed, will be released October 15, 2019.
Shelly earned an MFA in Creative Writing from National University and an MBA in Healthcare Management from the University of Phoenix. She recently retired from a successful 35-year career with the Department of Veterans Affairs–Office of Research Oversight.
She currently lives in Georgia with her two Shelties, Izzie and Mia. She writes full-time, although she takes lots of breaks to play with and train her dogs in obedience and tricks.
