Investigator Mitch Spencer is quite unprepared for what he finds when he rescues Molly from the abandoned house where she’s been taken. Within 24 hours, he’s lost his heart to this tiny young woman. She’s so determined to appear tough, but he can see through that tough exterior to what’s inside. And he knows she’s scared. After her past, she knows she’s afraid to trust anyone, anymore. And he knows she’s not out of danger. Yet.
This has been a truly splendid read filled trepidation and adventure Molly Andrews finds herself being abutted after she has been drugged, fortunately she is rescued by Highway Patrol Officer Mitch who is an investigator, he is hardworking and he works hard and diligently to ensure that he manages to get her the help she needs. Not only has she been heavily drugged but also because she is a diabetic if he had not have had her treated by the hospital, she could easily have lost her life.
As he gains the trust of Molly who is now actually living with him now, he has found out all he can to ensure that she is looking after herself properly and he ensures that everything she can eat or drink so that her disease is kept under control, it may be chronic however Mitch believes that good monitoring and care of both the body and mind will ensure she continues to do well. Mitch is a loving and caring male that ensures that she knows her boundaries and when she fails to care for herself will punish her as and when needed, she knows that this is an important part of Mitch showing his dominant character and also his love and need to care for her. This is a wonderful story and I loved the relationship between Mitch and Molly and I am sure like me you will be totally captivated by this book, without a doubt. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
I absolutely LOVED the story, the mystery, suspense, danger, angst, unknown, and the romantic suspense between Mitch Spencer and Molly Andrews. The story kept the pages turning as this edge-of-your-seat drama unfolds. Mitch is enamored with Molly, her stubbornness, determination, and strength—and she needs his dominance and control.
Molly Anderson loves her job, but sometimes, there aren't enough hours in a day, and she once again is working past closing—but this night leads to her being attacked and abducted. Fate intervenes, law enforcement is called in, and Mitch is one of the officers to find and rescue her, but her life is still in jeopardy as her blood sugar crashes. Mitch is there for her, not just as a law enforcement officer, to get her statement, but as a man attracted to a woman.
The story will bring out lots of valuable information about type one diabetes, how it affects an individual, and how things can alter it. For Molly, she must stay ahead of her situation, but she has the propensity to get so involved in her work, she is missing meals. That is until Mitch enters her life, he starts learning about her diabetes, her numbers, and how to help.
The story has mystery and suspense as the state police have been following the leads of missing women. All seem to have certain similar character traits, small fame, blond hair, and blue eyes—and Molly fits that description. As Mitch is assigned to keeping her safe, the one thing that isn't guarded is his or her heart during the assignment. As a dominant, he knows she is submissive, and he is hoping she is willing to consent to a relationship founded on D/s.
The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly with this sordid tale. Someone is kidnapping young women, so far, the police haven't found them, and someone has targeted Molly. Molly and Mitch's relationship is getting stronger, but each has had a past that haunts them. Will they be able to let go of the past and find happiness in the future? Will Mitch be able to keep her safe, or will her disobedience bring danger to her—again?
"He wanted her forever—for his lover, his friend, his wife. There was no doubt of it. He'd only known her a few weeks, but he wanted her for life."
I love the way Ms. Tessa Carr spins a story, capturing the reader, and holds them hostage as the pages turn. The story has a great cast of characters, plenty of interactions, tense situations, angst-filled moments, and a steamy romance. As a series junkie, I look forward to the next book in this new series.
When Molly Andrews is abducted, it’s Mitch Spencer, an investigator with the highway patrol, who gets to her just in time. Not only has Molly been drugged, but she’s diabetic and barely hanging on. As Molly stabilizes in the hospital, she tries to resist the determined investigator’s help, but Mitch is attracted to her and isn’t going anywhere. Mitch also senses something sinister in the attack on Molly and he’s vigilant about protecting her from the unknown threat.
Slowly he gains the feisty young woman’s trust, learning more about the chronic disease she lives with and how to care for her. Molly adjusts to Mitch’s discipline and the boundaries he places around her and begins to thrive under his loving attention. But she’s not safe yet, and Mitch will be called to her rescue once again.
Molly and Mitch’s romance is sweet and steamy, the plot moves along without a lot of contrived angst, and the HEA delivers a perfect ending.

I am late in turning in my review of this spectacular book by Ms. Carr. This reader couldn’t book the down once I opened to page one. Faces in Shadow is one of those clever books that starts off with a bang and keeps moving right along with well developed characters. Molly Andrews is a divorcee with diabetes, who happens to be drugged and kidnapped. Mitch Miller is an investigator for the Highway Patrol who happens to find Molly and rescues her from a horrible situation. Unfortunately, Molly is in need of medical care. Mitch makes sure she receives the help she needs and also continues to make sure she takes care of herself. There is a wonderful relationship between the two characters. This story is full of action, twists and turns, and intrigue. This is an all night read, because you want to know what happens next.

Molly & Mitch first meet when Mitch rescues Molly after she had been abducted by a person unknown. Even though Molly is attracted to Mitch from the get go, she is fiercely independent as she is used to taking care of herself. After a harsh betrayal from her ex, she finds it hard to believe anyone will be interested in taking care of her, especially becouse she has diabetes. Mitch needs to watch over Molly because he knows she may still be in danger while the investigation for her abduction is going on, but he finds himself having deep feelings for her. More girls who look similar to Molly keep disappearing and the danger is closing on Molly... The book is a good mix of mystery, suspence and a love story. I enjoyed it very much and I'm looking forward to read the next installment in the series.
Molly felt she had been followed for a while and kicked herself for working late. Just as she was stepping into her car a cloth soaked in chloroform covered her nose and mouth and she's out cold.
She wakes up to find herself facedown tied spread eagled to an iron bed. A man with a mask covering his face and calling himself The Collector was systematically cutting off her clothes and leaving her naked.
Mitch is responding to a call that an unconscious woman was being hauled into a house. When they find her in the basement she's in bad shape. The EMTs say she's lucky to be alive as she's in a diabetic coma.
This is my first novel by Tessa Carr. I found the book to be well written and the storyline and characters are wonderful. Mitch is demanding and Molly is feisty. Highly recommend this book.

Miller rescues Molly after she has been drugged and kidnapped. She has diabetes and is crashing. Miller saves her and goes back to the hospital to interview her and also protect her. She is submissive and he is dominate, he learns about diabetes, ( the informative part) and makes sure she takes care of herself. There is also someone kidnapping women that fit her description, so he is really protective of her. They both have their own baggage from the past. Miller wants her to love, keep, and protect. This book has action and intrigue, it also hooked me from the very start. This is an edge of your seat read. I loved the Miller and Molly and how they interacted with each other. Fabulous book.

Mitch rescues Molly from an abduction. Molly is really stubborn, but Mitch is not willing to give up. She's an independent woman and does not know why Mitch is hanging around for his job. I loved the scene where she locked the door on Mitch and he raises his eyebrow. You get a little insight a bit at a time about Mitch, you can see where this relationship is going to go if he gets what he wants. "You're delightful and delicious and delicate." Loved those three descriptive words about Molly. A relatively short read, but it had the right amount of suspense, heat and wit.
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Mitch and Molly meet when he saved her life after being abducted. She is in bad shape, but he knew there was something special about her even then. He feels the pull to protect, care for and love this woman. Molly does not want to be dependent on anyone or a burden, but she cannot deny the chemistry between them. He plans to earn her trust and love her the entire way. This is a short romance with danger and drama. The characters were well written.

This book really took off from page one, then calmed down for a bit and sped back up towards the end. Mitch was such a protective sweetheart. I couldn't help but love his character. Molly was as stubborn and down to earth as can be and was a challenge for Mitch to keep up with. She definitely wasn't a weak woman.
The story really had it all. There was danger, suspense, romance, some added humor and a really good ending to their story.

I enjoyed this book. Molly is a young woman who is alone in life except for her best friend Jillian. She meets Mitch, a detective, when he rescues her from a kidnapper. The two of them feel an instant attraction and Molly loves how Mitch makes her a priority to him. There is a HEA for them once the mystery of who is taking young women that look like Molly. I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
When Mitch first meets Molly it's under dire circumstances and her rescue from a kidnapper in the nick of time nearly costs her life. This is when Mitch realizes that there's something intriguing and very special about this little spitfire. He also knows that she's still in danger and he just can't let that happen again. What follows is not only a great love story but an edge of the seat mystery that is so shocking you will never forget it.
This was my first book from this author and have to say am looking forward to reading more! This was a very enjoyable short read, great characters and storyline, I actually loved how their romance came together, how vulnerable and alone Molly was and how caring, strong and protective Mitch was, thought their story was lovely 😊

I love everything about this book, the cover is gorgeous and it is really well written, I cannot wait to read book 2 in the series.
Although it isn't a long read, it is really well written, a great storyline and characters you will love.
Molly is a sweet girl and Mitch is the hero. If you are looking for a quick read but an enjoyable one, then I do recommend you read Faces in Shadow, book 1 in the Shadows of Council Creek.
I enjoy a good mystery and since this book also had a great big dash of Hot Dominance, I was doubly sold. Well written, this story incudes an insulin dependent Heroine. This is something that Molly feels is a deal breaker. She refuses to give up her independence until Mitch can prove that he is the one for her. This was a delightful read and I look forward to more from Tessa.
Wow this was so good.edge of your seat i couln't put it down. this had some mystery some steamy sex, great characters of course a villan you wont see coming. i can not wait for more of this i love this author.

I absolutely LOVED the story, the mystery, suspense, danger, angst, unknown, and the romantic suspense between Mitch Spencer and Molly Andrews. Who is the kidnapper and will Mitch Spencer help her when it to late😉 Can’t spoil the fun of reading the this story 🥰
This was my first read from this author and I enjoyed it very much. Usually I can spot the villain a lot sooner but who I thought was the bad guy, was not.
