100% exactly what the book is - I love a good second chance romance - or second chance you didn't know you needed romance. Nick is freaking adorable, I mean, the description of him and his job and his glasses I honestly really drooled. I'll take me some Nick and wrap him up - he's funny and super smart, and good with his hands :P

Paige is a bit of an insecure individual, she's a Dr so you'd think she'd have everything figured out (IDK how long it takes to get that degree but I'm guessing it is a long journey) - she expresses the need for people these days to slow themselves down and evaluate themselves - and that was EPIC because it was extremely EXTREMELY relatable.

There was another character in here that I must mention and that's Kyle - what a WELL WRITTEN child character - normally I find kids written older than their age is supposed to be but this was superb.

The story was general contemporary - few quirks, mishaps, adorableness, and progressed well to the end.

Definitely definitely check this out if you're into (like it says) rom coms/contemporary books because it won't disappoint - one of my new fav authors

Other than the main characters hooking up before the end , this book is basically like reading a hallmark movie. I like hallmark movies , so that was fine with me.

Cute story and characters. Paige got a bit annoying at times , but nothing horrible. Definitely not a bad book, but nothing spectacular either probably won’t continue with the series.

I hope the author is a better doctor than she is a writer. This is not a hot & steamy book, much more prick tease lite. Extremely short on plot & too much mental sexual teasing. I will be avoiding this author in the future.

The first thing I would like to know is 'how do you wrap a towel around your body with one arm?' which Nick seems to do, as well as many other things that really are not feasible with one arm.
As to Paige, all I can say is "Doctor, heal thyself". Paige is in dire need of a shrink. She has numerous psychoses, though the story of her life really doesn't support her attaining them, particularly to the extent and severity of their effect on her. Having lost her mother while a young teenager and her father's inability to deal with that loss really doesn't seem to support so great an effect. She must have a very fragile psyche, to say the least.
That being said, the story itself would have been a good one without all of the psychological innuendos. A couple can dance around each other while leading up to a relationship, without the necessity of one of them having any psychological problems. It is a very normal occurrence and one that can be very cute, interesting, entertaining and makes for a good story. But, as it is, I think I will pass on this author's renderings.

I read all three books in this series. While I’ve now discovered that this author isn’t for me, out of the three books this one is the only one that I really didn’t have much of an issue with.

Because it’s the first in the series I was cool with the injured dude/woman taking care of him trope. When all three books share that, however it makes the next two seem redundant.

I also don’t like that there is so much build up and talking about sex (even using words that are on the extreme side to some people) yet the actual scenes are fade to black. While there is nothing wrong with clean romance, I found the mixture here to be odd.

I did really enjoy the character of Nick in this one. As far as the main couples in this series go, I did like the one here and the couple from book two.

This isn’t a bad read. If you like your romance sweet and semi-clean (explicit content, but fade to black on the actual sex) and are looking for an easy read, this might be what you’re looking for. While this author isn’t for me, it’s easy to see that she does have quite a following.

I was hoping for a quick chick lit read. But I just couldn’t pull myself to actually finish this. Lots of swears, lots of “inappropriate” thoughts in her head about the guy. I could tell where this was going and I didn’t want to go there. I need something better for my brain.

Turn the Paige is a fast-paced read with not a lot of angst. It is an all right read if you're looking for something low-key and non-dramatic.

I wrote this review as a part of Hidden Gem’s ARC review site. I gave my short review on Amazon and decided to write a longer review here. I’m sure you all know that I’m not at all a romance fan and very seldom read them. Sure, I read some YA romance books, but when it comes to adult romance, I just never saw the appeal and always felt like I was reading awful porn, or a Hallmark movie in writing. While I felt that way about this book, I rather enjoyed it.

The story begins with Paige who is a successful doctor and seems to have everything she needs. Key word there being, needs. After receiving some instructions from her late grandmother, Paige takes some time off from her job at the practice and stays at her grandmother’s house to not only take care of things there, but to also, according to her grandmother, take care of herself.

Pretty cliche at first, right? Well, yeah, of course. Paige is a workaholic and has a giant sized guard door over heart that has an invisible key. She finds that her next door neighbor, Nick, is someone she does not like because of how his attitude was toward her when they were growing up. (Seriously, do not EVER put a snake in a girl’s locker! Just don’t!).

Well, let’s just say that after a bit of an accident (which was Nick’s fault for being perverted) Paige winds up helping Nick with a broken shoulder – not knowing that Nick could also be there to help her as well.

I identified with Paige on quite a number of levels. She is an active over thinker and while she doesn’t have issues with anxiety, she is also highly guarded and sees connecting to someone as a way only getting pain, not the good things. I can relate to that. The hamster wheel is constantly spinning in my head and sometimes it’s so difficult to shut the brain off and just get some peace and quiet.

It’s easy to focus on one thing like work to avoid anything of the sort. Nick challenges that for Paige, and not just in the sexual manner. Nick also has his own baggage from his childhood with an abusive father who is now in an assisted living home and was diagnosed with dementia.

Paige also talks to her grandmother, Nana. How? Well, she’s kind of dreaming these conversations with her grandmother, including when she’s smelling cinnamon rolls in the kitchen. A bit cheesy, but it didn’t take away from the story. I found it highly hilarious that Paige finds a pair of edible underwear in her grandmother’s drawer. Go Granny!!!

Nick was a character I rather enjoyed. No snakes, Nick! Bad Nick! Nick turns out to be one of those guys that does indeed pay attention when it comes to someone in his life. When he can predict the signs that Paige is going to overthink something, he can bring the subject up to her because he gives her that opportunity. You have no idea how much that is needed in a partner.

I love the way the story ended. To me, it was a good way to end the first book but also give you the curiosity of what could happen in the second book. My only thing is that I found it annoying with the overuse of the word ‘Crap’. Why do you use the word shit and fuck in some parts of the book (not over done which is what I like) but you over use this cheesy word? That was mostly whey it felt like I was reading a Hallmark movie.

The story wrapped up nicely. I loved what I learned about Nana (and wish I could learn more about the edible underwear) and my dear Paige…I love you and your overactive brain and I can appreciate everything you go through. And I was all for exploring a relationship with Nick.

I won’t give a star rating anymore because I believe that ratings don’t really make the story – if I said this was a good book and it being a romance, you know that it’s good. If you have that hamster who constantly runs the wheels in your head…Paige understands.

Reviewed at Can't Resist A Happy Ending

Turn the Paige is an interesting romance, one that could fall into several tropes mainly enemies-to lovers, and maybe high school crushes as well. There is definitely some animosity between Paige and Nick when she first arrives at her Grandmother’s house. Yet, in time we’ll get to understand the reasons behind those tensions.

I’m not a huge fan of first person point of view – I like to get in the heads of both people who make up a couple – but it worked very well for this story as much of what is happening is completely up to Paige to figure out and deal with her own issues.

I fell in love with Nana. And you will, too… even if she is a bit unorthodox. You’ll see. We get to meet Nick’s sister Sara and his nephew, Kyle as well as a good friend Ellie. I mention these ladies as it’s more than likely that we will see them again in this series… I know the next story Single by Design is Sara’s story, so Ellie is sure to follow at some point. All of the characters, main and secondary, were believable and realistic in their reactions to issues and situations.

There is some language, and sexy moments indicated but behind closed doors. Turn the Paige is all about one woman’s discovery of who exactly she really is at the core. She faces some challenges, some surprises, and unexpectedly finds love along the way. I enjoyed myself in this world and will definitely be following the series to see what happens next. I would recommend this one to any Rom-Com, Contemporary Romance readers or simply someone who loves a happy ending and two people connecting on that deeper, lifelong level.

I own a Kindle edition of Turn the Paige

I loved Turn the Paige by Roseanne Beck. I think the cover is fun and campy and fits this contemporary romance story well. I was quickly drawn into the story with Roseanne’s clean writing. I like the voice of this story, and the main character being a doctor is right up my alley.

I was all prepared to find the story littered with medical inconsistencies and was pleasantly surprised with it was not. Working in the medical field myself for 18-years means finding a book with medical “correctness” in it is not as easy as it sounds. I think Roseanne did a great job with the main character, Paige. Then I read Roseanne’s bio and see she is a doctor. Kudos for having time to write!

All the characters in, Turn the Paige are well-done and feel like real people. Even the dead grandmother, Nana who makes appearances to guide Paige in learning how to sit still and find her center. When Paige goes home to take care of Nana’s last request, she discovers her grandmother has been busy including the town in her scheme to show Paige the one man for her lives right next door.

Nick is a good guy even though he tries to come off as a smart-ass. The two knew each other as children, and are thrown back together in a cute way when Nick breaks his arm. Roseanne sends them down the rabbit hole of love with great wit and humor.

This is a fun, light read with campy fun characters with flaws and real-life experiences. The romance is on the tame side and fits both the characters and the story. I enjoyed Turn the Paige very much.

This was the first book I have read by this author, but will not be the last. Her characters had a clear past, which effected their emotions and behaviors in obvious ways. They were also strong, independent, and determined, while also displaying a softness and vulnerability once the tough exterior was penetrated.

Paige was required to spend 2 weeks focusing on her recently deceased nana's goals for her life (Paige's life). Nick, a former nemesis from grade school, turned out to be her temporary neighbor. She ends up helping him when he breaks his arm falling off a ladder. During the 2 weeks, she discovers not only were Nick's childhood behaviors because of a crush he had on her, but also he had a difficult childhood. (She lost her mother, but his father was an abusive alcoholic.)

Nick helps Paige start to work through the areas that her nana's was concerned about. Intamicy is one key area for her, and while Paige can eventually let go physically, emotionally releasing is a whole other matter. Will Paige shut down the progress she made only to fall short of her nana's true meaning of intamicy? Will she return home, once again hurting Nick as his sister feared?

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest, unbias review.

Thank you, Ms. Beck

This is a really great read. The characters are interesting, 3 dimensional. They seem real, as if I wouldnt be surprised to be working with Paige (if I hadn't had to retire from nursing) in a clinic or in a hospital. I can see having a neighbir like Nick, & his sister & her boy seem as real to me when I am reading as do the many children with whom I've interacted as a teacher, nurse, & real or honorary godparent. It is rare to see characters with that much depth.
And they have a sense of humor. I laughed at some of the dialog one minute, then commiserated with the fatherless kid & the overworked doctor & the sometimes frazzled mom the next page.
Most of all, & the reason I am thanking the author in the tittle if my review is this: Even when a character is getting intimate, THERE ARE NO VIVID DESCRIPTIOONS OF EVERY ASPECT OF THE ACT. THANKS, MS. BECK, FOR REFERRING TO SOMETHING HERE & THERE & LEAVING THE REST TO OUR IMAGINATIONS. IT IS SUCH A RELIEF! SO NICE TO BW THOUGHT OF, BY A SECULAR ROMANCE BOOK AUTHOR, AS INTELLIGENT ENOUGH TO FILL IN THE BLANKS.
MS. BECK, YOU FLAT OUT ROCK!

A refreshing and unexpected romance with a tinge of the supernatural thrown in, which I thoroughly enjoyed. After reading so many sizzling romances with nearly moment-by-moment sex, it was great to focus on the couple and the development of their relationship. The relationship was even more interesting because of their long-ago history and misunderstandings. Kudos to the author for excellent pacing and believability as we went along for the ride.

Speaking of "the ride" ... It's kind of nice to pick up a good romance that doesn't shove explicit sex in the reader's face. But there's also a delicate balance, especially if the couple do the deed like Paige and Nick. I don't want trite remarks from either the H or h afterward when the author lets us back in the bedroom. What I would like is a nice transition to bring us back, specifically the emotions of what's taken place behind closed doors. This was the biggest fail and lost opportunity, IMHO.

Otherwise, this sweet gem will be worth a re-read sometime in the future. I enjoyed it that much.

This was just what the doctor ordered. After reading several highly emotional stories lately, this was the perfect break. This was sweet and funny, a little bit angst-y with a whole lot of love. Paige is a driven doctor who, thanks to the help of her now-deceased grandmother, is about to be put through a midlife crisis a little early. Nick was her schoolyard nemesis, now he’s Nana’s neighbor. Has the one-time bad boy grown up to be a good man? And can Paige untangle all the decisions that have brought her to this place and figure out how to be happy again? I love stories that look at life with a slightly twisted sense of humor, because it matches my own. This book made me laugh so hard, I can’t wait to read more about these characters.

3.5 bumped to 4 Stars.

What do you get in Turn the Paige? Well, let’s see…there a super smart doctor who overthinks everything and who is just a tad insecure (OK, really insecure) when it comes to her personal life. You’ll get a sexy sweet nerdy neighbor, who said doctor doesn’t remember, but who was the annoying boy from her childhood who terrorized her with snakes. Then just for fun, you get said doctor’s Nana who comes back to life to goad her into all sorts of things she’d never do on her own. What does it all add up to? Well, a whole lotta fun, of course.

If you’re overworked and stressed and just need a light read that’s pure entertainment check out Turn the Paige. You’ll enjoy joining Paige on her journey of self-discovery.

Does Nana succeed?
I love it when have the opportunity to read an author’s first published work, and this time was certainly a success. The characters were terrific, especially Nana, even though she is Paige’s deceased grandmother. Nana’s next-door neighbor Nick is someone Paige never would have associated with in her “normal” life. Paige herself is a stressed and overworked doctor who is confused about her future. Definitely an original twist to a “love story”. Looking forward to her next book.

Ahh...so sweet!
This was a funny, sweet and easy read perfect for a relaxing downtime. It was well written and had me laughing out loud and the clever and witty banter. While the heroin eventually overcomes her issues to commit to a relationship, that is where the story ends. I don't know whether the author is planning to continue with their story in subsequent books in the series; however I thought that this book could have benefited from an epilogue.

I must say, I wasn't totally thrilled with this book.

The blurb seemed more attractive when I got the book—it gave me the hope that it might be a different story, a unique story. The beginning was very good, very humourous and well narrated. It captured my attention for a long time.

But that lasted only about a quarter of the book. After that, the narration was still great, but that narration went on to the typical kind of story I dreaded reading.

I'm sure the author is good at her stories, but this book, "Turn the Paige", just ain't for me. I had to let it go halfway.

I received an advance reader copy of this book. It sounded interesting as I work in the medical field, but I got so much more than I’d bargained for! I highly recommend this sweet and only a little spicy book for anyone who loves a good romance. It also has the unexpected bonus of making me review my life and how hard I’m working! This book hits all the notes perfectly and I can’t wait to read more from this author

Turn the Paige

Cute and funny sort of second chance/enemies to lover romance. Nick and Paige new each other as kids, then Paige's family moved away. Nick tormented her back then. Now, she is back in town fulfilling wishes from her grandmother that passed away. The comedy ensues from there. Not laugh out loud funny, but will make you smile a lot! Nick is perfect book boyfriend, Paige is sweet but neurotic, but it works.

We all need a NaNa

Paige comes back home after her NaNa passes away. She's left a cryptic note for Paige to work on something's in her life. Nick is the hunky next door neighbor, who also happens to be the boy who tormented her in school before she moved away.
I read the second book first and had to come back and read the first, I'm glad I did.
I recommend reading both books, I look forward to Ellie's story.

Turn the Paige

In this first book of the series Love Hurts you get to know Paige and Nick. She has been so focused on her career in medicine she forgot to live. But after the death of her beloved nana she has been charged to reevaluate her life. Her mama's ghost is there to nudge her in the right direction. And with a little help from her school bully next door. This was a fun read about second chances and how to really make your life worth living.
