Paranormal Misfits #6

My Fair Queen: Allies of the Fae Realm

Rate this book
It's not every day an obscure orphan girl becomes a fae queen.

Crysta and her companions have found the diadem and stone, but just when it looks like the tide has finally shifted in their favor, Crysta is sucked into Terise's sleeping curse with no way of escape and nowhere to hide from Titania's ruthless attacks.

And now she is permanently bonded...to the wrong fated mate.

Jareth is not only heartbroken at the loss of his fated mate bond, his mating frenzy is in overdrive, preventing him from functioning. He and Kheelan must overcome their differences if they hope to free Crysta, but they are faced with more setbacks as Titania takes faerie captives by the hundreds, building her army and growing her powers.

And the diadem, the key to Moridan and Titania's undoing?

Tainted by Titania's curse.

But a cursed relic isn't the only surprise the wicked queen has in store for Crysta. The battle for control over the minds and hearts of the fae is one Titania intends to win by any means necessary.

Can Crysta and Jareth unite the Unseelie and Seelie Courts before Titania and Moridan destroy the Fae Realm?

"Sometimes you find the perfect fantasy world and you want to crawl inside of it and live there. Surrounded by magic, mystery, and psychological messes. This is by far one of the most intriguing, breathtakingly haunting worlds I've ever come across. I love it!!" - Kallie, Amazon Reviewer

I began writing short stories for family and friends when I was thirteen years old. My vivid imagination and love of mysteries and romances eventually led me to following my own dreams of becoming a published author. I also do some book review work on the side for SDE Magazine.

I'm a huge fan of The Mindy Project, Hugh Jackman, and binge eating any and all things chocolate. Who isn't, am I right?

As a mother of four awesome kids I'm usually playing beauty salon with my daughters (my four-year-old shaved my arm one time while I was helping another daughter with her homework. Yep. That happened) getting my fanny kicked in Mario Kart by my snarky little son, and making out with my deliciously handsome looking Latin lover, aka, my hubby.

Oh my heavens!!! I can't believe this series is over. This book has been one that myself and friends have been anticipating. We all may have squealed in delight when we found out there was a release date. Woohoo!!! And it was definitely power packed from the opening pages. So good!!!

This book did not disappoint. The author definitely threw in lots of ups and downs, twists and turns and much, much more. Oh my! I loved being able to reconnect with all of the characters that I've come to love in this series. But be warned, there is definitely heartache involved as well. But Crysta is well, Crysta, and she loves fiercely and cares deeply for her friends and those she meets. She is just this awesome, powerhouse kind of character. I love waiting to see what she is going to surprise us (the other characters and me) with next.

I loved how everything finished up and came full circle to give a satisfying and healing conclusion to this series. I may have shed a few tears. *shrugs unabashedly* I never expected the journey I went on with this series when I opened up book #1. But it was delightful and intense and just awesome! Haha!

If you are a fantasy fan, seriously, don't wait any longer to read this series or this author's other books. Just go read them!

Content: This book did have swear words scattered throughout the book. There are moments of peril, violence and death due to the nature of a character trying to take over the realm this story is set in. The book is fantasy so there is the use of magic. There are several sexual innuendos throughout as well. The author does talk about sex between the characters as it being special and sacred and reserved for marriage. At the end of the book the couple does consummate their marriage. It is written tastefully and fades out. If you read my review for the first book I talk more in depth about why the author wrote aspects of the book like she did. Go read it if you’re interested. I’m pretty conservative on what I read and like clean reads. Throughout this whole series we’re watching this main character, Crysta, come to trust and learn what a healthy relationship is. The author takes her healing and experiences from being sexually molested as a child to hopefully bring awareness and strength and understanding for those who have been victims. I really thought she did a good job of advocating through the way she wrote Crysta’s character. And she really showed a healthy relationship and the need for healing. Anyway go read my review for the first book in the series for more info if you’re interested.

I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

It has been a while waiting for My Fair Queen and I missed the characters and the story. Sadly, since it was some time I had difficulty remembering certain aspects and therefore difficulty following along sometimes. As a whole however I am very happy with the conclusion.

I am less happy with the start of the story. It wasn’t anything apparent wrong, I just didn’t find anything keeping me invested. It was sort of … I don’t know. Not messy, but I didn’t feel like the plot or the characters had any sort of clear cut plan going on. There were a lot of discussions and then just ending up winging it most of the battles and struggles they faced. The discussions as well, especially those about magic was so into detail and almost like scientific explanations about how the magic worked that it, well, lost it’s beautiful magic. The good kind of magic is supposed to be mysterious and without explanation. Otherwise it isn’t really magic anymore.

I had noticed it a bit in previous books, but it was so little that it didn’t really bother me. In this book though it became maddeningly apparent And that was how the characters put Crysta on a sky high pedestal. I get it, she’s the main heroine in the story destined to save everyone. It is however a bit too simplistic that the only emotions connected to her is either villainous hate or absolute adoration. For it to feel more realistic there needed to be some characters in between that were either neutral about her or only somewhat liked or disliked her. The fact that everyone adored her for her powers or her unending selflessness and empathy (while good, but a bit over the top) made her come across as a Mary Sue character and that is one of my absolute worst book pet peeves.

That aside though, what really helped this story through all that was the amazing climax and conclusion to the story. I was afraid of a too perfect ending where no sacrifices had to be made and everyone came out fine like it never happened. I’ve seen this kinds of endings way too much and they always become unrealistic and underwhelming. This story had the perfect ending due to it not trying to be perfect. There were losses and sacrifices and best of all, the villain wasn’t suddenly converted to a good guy miraculously. Instead it naturally at its high peak gave a very bittersweet and deserving ending to not only the villain but most characters.

For being a bit bittersweet it still had that happily ever after for our main couple that I had anticipated and hoped for from the start. It was just as I wanted it, if not more. Although, I wasn’t a big fan of the people watching going on throughout the book, due to the disruption to the story’s natural flow, I also got a bit of other potential couples stories to look forward to.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

And now the journey ends :(

Sure, there was some time between when I first devoured the other reads in the series and this, the final read. But what a journey. On it's own the final book would never be astounding, because this is when we say goodbye to characters who've meant so much to us. I wish some of my favs from before got a bit more time *cough* Nullan *cough*, and why were there more people for me to care about? But overall though, the folks who have been there from the start and had all these trials and tribulations got something akin to happiness. And really that's what we really want for people we've spent 6 books being besides. Look you're not going to be reading this one as a standalone, and you won't have jumped into the series at the end... and as such this read is about what the end of the journey is to you. And for me, while there was more I was hoping for, at the end of it I'm content with what the journey has given to Crysta, Jeareth and the gang. (Okay, okay mostly content because really what was that stuff with )

Fantasy lovers rejoice!
It’s been a long time coming but we’ll worth the wait. It started off with a bang and almost never let up. It was up to Crysta as the queen of Unseelie to save her people from the evil that Titania and Moridan had to throw at them. They hoped to use the diadem against them but that was becoming more of a challenge than they hoped and took some creativity to make it work. Some comedic interludes helped to alleviate all the seriousness as huge losses tore at Crysta’s heart. Many twists and turns led to the finale of a happily ever after. This was a well written story by Ms Anaya that I have been looking forward to reading for quite some time. I can easily recommend this book and this series for all fantasy lovers everywhere.

This book, this whole series took me on such an emotional roller coaster. I fell in love with the series and characters, personalities, just everything, especially the Dragons. I loved that the author threw in so much, but it worked. Crysta and all her friends. I laughed and was sad. I was surprised about so many revelations. I didn’t want to read it as fast as I did, but I couldn’t help it. I had to find out what happens next. I almost could not read fast enough and telling myself to slow down. I was on the edge of my seat. I am not disappointed at all that I bought the series or her previous series. I even loved Jareth’s brother even though I wanted to strangle him most times. I am pretty sure I will read this again down the road. I escaped to another world and it was amazing

As one of the people who pre-ordered long ago I was chomping on my nails waiting for this last book. So many ends, and bits, and lines to tie up. When I got the chance to pick up a copy a few days early - thank you very much C. J. - I pounced.

If you have read the previous books you know there is a tangle that includes several hearts. One resolution for a major point could have been the basic lover's sacrifice line. C. J. left that one standard drama queen trope in the dust. There the 'usual' was not where this went.

Get the book.

Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. Crysta and the two princes are still fighting to save everyone from the evil, reincarnated Titania. She is trying to destroy everyone and every realm. Future queen Crysta is still bonded to Kheelan, which was necessary to save her and another's lives. Jareth is frantic about it as he loves Crysta with everything he has. Can the bond be broken so Crysta and Jareth can be together? A diadem. A crown. Mind manipulation. Demons. Vampires. Fae. Little Chuck. What a brilliant ending to this fantastic series. Absolutely loved it.

Good

This was a long time coming, but was worth the wait. And the wait was very much understandable with everything going on in this crazy world. This was a good conclusion to this story, but there were some threads left open. I was hoping they could be told through Jareth and Crysta, but I’m sure however she tells the story, it will be done well. Good series.

Crysta is back and facing even more challenges in this last book of the series. The description sounds fairly straightforward, but don't that that fool you. The story is complex with multiple layers and nuances and the characters are just as detailed.

God, I can't even express how much I love Crysta. She is literally the perfect protagonist. The ending was everything I hoped for, except for one thing. Kheelan and Terise! I am praying that the author creates a series, or at least a book, about them.
