This book could be boring.
You do need to have an interest in Monasteries of Norfolk - the historical aspect or the religious aspect.
If I wasn't it lockdown I would have looked through this sporadically as I came across these places out and about. However with lockdown I wanted to get out without going any where and this has formed a few evenings of research with this book as the background. I have used it to find places I have never heard of and certainly will have missed. Using google maps and further google searches were required I have fund many locations and further reading materials. I now have along list of places to visit and explore and walk upon the ground in place of many who have travelled the monastic road before.
The book has its discrepancies. The question will be is that because nearly 40 years after being published the land of Norfolk has drastically changed in places - especially more urban. Or is it incorrect information. I would err on this side that its 'history's' fast and ever changing pace.
Well written and informative, if this is your cup of tea then I would highly recommend it.
For me it has left me wishing to dig deeper and further into both the local monastic landscape of medieval Britain alongside working hard on the last missing pieces that I haven't been able to find on google maps.
