Ben Stiger, Legate of the Lost Thirteenth Legion, a nobleman from an infamous family, and born fighter, has defeated the enemy army before Lorium and raised the siege of the city. Mortally wounded and dying, the emperor has made Stiger his heir, but in name only. The senate and the church must confirm and anoint him. Will they want a Stiger on the throne? Or will they choose someone else?
Hundreds of miles away, the Cyphan Confederacy’s armies are marching along the coast, moving inexorably toward the capital, leaving a swath of destruction in their wake. To save the empire, Stiger must leave his army behind, travel to the capital, and confront his father, who is in command of the legions defending Mal’Zeel. Stiger must secure his throne, for it is his destiny and burden to bear. Another must not be allowed to claim the crown of wreaths and the curule chair. For should that come to pass, everything Stiger has worked toward will be lost, and darkness, like a shadowy veil, will forever fall over the world of Istros.
Stiger has finally accepted the mantle of Champion for his god, the High Father. He has come to accept being made emperor, a job he never wanted, and being seen by his men as gods blessed. But has he truly been blessed? Or has Stiger been cursed to a terrible destiny?
The final battle to save the empire and the world has begun!
Bestselling author Marc Edelheit has traveled the world, from Asia to Europe, at one point crossing the border at Check Point Charlie in Berlin toward the end of the Cold War.
Marc is the ultimate history fan and incorporates much of that passion into his work to bring greater realism to his fans. He is also an avid reader, devouring several books per week, ranging from history to science fiction and fantasy.
In this volume 6 everything gets even more complicated with even more enemies. As usual, Stiger faces incredible odds but perseveres. He has become more than the captain of the 85th company, more than the legate of the 13th legion and is now about to become more than an army commander. Another exciting story with new characters.
It is planned for the series to continue in The Tiger’s Fight, Book Seven of the Chronicles of an Imperial Legionary Officer series, due out in 2022.
"Once he secured his Throne." Says one an all through the day. It took a day but Stiger took the Crown of wreaths an the Curule Chair. It was a long bloody day an a few heads rolled an the palace is a mess an not with blood. The fight has just begun.
Stiger is starting to wrap a few things up, however there always seems to be more problems on the horizon. Very well written story that I enjoyed reading very much. Now to wait for the next installment.
Book 6 like it's predecessors is a enjoyable read, the MC Ben is still as dull and full of "honour" as ever but his companions and the lesser characters do give the book life, this chapter follows on from Ben being named emperor and he is seeking to consolidate his position and as you can imagine that is going to be complicated, the one thing that I find a bit confusing is that the authers description of the Empire and the life it's citizens endure make one wonder why anybody would feel it was worth fighting for,it comes across as a totally corrupt brutal regime where 80% are serfs/slaves and the top 5% are self serving arrogant idiots only interested in their self enrichment ( not unlike our leaders today),only the legion has any order and half its leadership is incompetent, still that's what makes to plot tick.
Just superb, as with all of Marc's writing. A story that pulls you from one page to the next. I particularly enjoyed the focus on Imperial politics. Now I will have to wiat for another sequel.
Another action-packed adventure with Stiger and his legions! So much makes sense now, and so many more questions. It was like being home again with old and new friends, and hardly a moment to breathe. As usual the time spent waiting for the next book will be interminable but, oh, so worth it!
Once again Marc has delivered an enthralling tale. And firmly ties the three series together into one. Although still eager for the missing chapters in "Tales" and " Karus". Now the unpleasant wait recomences til the next tales publish. Keep the great work coming.
I would give 10 stars if I could. Stiger once again manages to get himself in the middle of a big mess. He reconnected with his father and brother and must bring the empire back together so that they can fight the confederacy.
Steiger has been named successor to the emperor. Others try to take this form him but his sense of duty and purpose will not allow it. I like the action, humor, and love. Love of his wife, his empire, his men, his people. I feel like I am there with Steiger feeling his emotions. I look forward to the next book
Marc is a great story teller. This book is just as exciting and thought provoking as the first (and all) of the other books in the series. Having said that, I still have to ask, “What the hell did you do to Eli?” And who is the nerdy character you substituted for him?
I enjoyed this entire series. Superbly written, so many hints vast scale to the world and universe. Love the characters and the interaction, witty/fun.. Liking forward to each book that is coming. Well done. I recommend this series to Everton.
Well, I just couldn’t put this down. I did to go eat dinner but that was it. The non stop action and political intrigue is always intense and keeps me on the edge of my seat! Eli is EVERYTHING. I need much more from my sassy elf! No romance 🙌🏻🙌🏻 just brutal battles and badass warriors! Now, the very very long wait for the next book in this series 😩
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book continues with all the action and great characters from the previous books as well as some new additions. It is another great read. My only problem it that the next book does not come out until June - I don’t want to wait
We all knew that Ben's troubles were far from over. After the emperor named Stiger as his successor, a new batch of problems appear, and politics can be just as deadly as a battlefield. Several storylines converge here, and a lot of familiar faces emerge. There's just too much to unpack in a short review. Let me just say that if you are a fan of Ben Stiger, hold on to your shorts.
Finally we got to read the continuation of Stigers story. Purchased the book 12-14 hours ago and now it’s finished. It felt a bit short, but maybe also my own fault that I did not put the book aside for a day or so. Very good and required reading for all of us who follow Stigers path.
Once again .. Marc has done a great job ! So thankful for his writing, the story line is very good , with the advancement of stigers claim to the curren throne . Overall very happy with the purchase .. looking forward to the next parts of the series
Another solid entry in the series. It delivers all of the solid characters and narrative I’ve come to expect. It was entertaining from beginning to end. Can’t wait for the next one.
It's nice that humour is in a huge supply in this book. Finally meeting stigers father ,as well as having political intrigue the fore more in this book keeps the reader engaged to the end, and as always with this series makes the reader wanting more
An adventure rollercoaster - never knowing what the next turn of the page will bring. Roman Legions , magic, elves, gnomes, Orcs....all you could wish for.....and great characters in a great story too !
I have been a follower of the series for a long time now. This is one of my favorite books in the series. It was definitely worth the wait and I am ready for the next one in the series now! Great job Marc!
Another fantastic installment of the adventures of the Tiger and his band of unlikely heroes. Marc weaves a tale of fantasy, war and trials as the tiger struggles to gain control of his empire and defeat the forces aligned against him.
Possibly the best Stiger book yet. Some will disagree, obviously, but The Tiger's Imperium has plenty of good old fashioned Lectionary action but also continues to add in more of the richness and flavor that makes.MAE books one of my favorite universes to explore.
MAE has constructed a universe filled with loads of historically accurate portrayals of Roman fighting tactics, camp life, and tactical maneuvers as with glimpses into the glory that was Rome at the height of the Pax Romana. This is then blended with most of the elements of classical fantasy but with an additional twist as MAE has taken orcs, goblins, elves, dwarves, and others and enhanced them into so very much more than the strangely shaped humans and B-movie villains that is all to common in the genre. MAE has woven all these elements into several rather compelling tales following several players from multiple races, backgrounds and even worlds into a vivid and interconnected tapestry.
While The Tiger's Imperium is longer than most novels in the series, its pacing is brisk and I do not remember any point that felt slow.or.extraneous. I would NOT recommend The Tiger's Imperium as a place to jump in, (Stiger's Tigers is where you want to start) but it is an outstanding continuation of an excellent series.
