You know how sometimes the second book in a trilogy is considered the “slow” book? It’s one that backs up the first book and sets the stage for the third book, but over all, nothing major happens?
Yeah. PREY is NOT that kind of second book.
Make no mistake - it definitely builds on everything that happened in SANCTUM (Blackwater Pack #1) and the ending definitely sets the stage for what is sure to be an incredible finale in LEGACY (Blackwater Pack #3). But there is a lot that happens and a lot that is revealed within these 550+ pages. I promise you will stay engaged and involved and hang on every word that is written.
PREY picks up at the beginning of Skye’s second semester at Granite Peak Academy - or GPA - the boarding school for shifters. There is immediately a different ambiance to the book. Girls are still missing, and we’re just waiting to see what the next move will be from the evil packs of Norwood and Long Mesa. The action and suspense begins almost immediately and as new revelations come to light, that suspenseful feeling only grows until the explosive ending.
Our heroine, Skye Markham, grows by leaps and bounds in this book. She’s still healing from the abuse she endured in the Long Mesa pack, but she’s also discovering an inner strength and bravery she never realized she had. A lot of that is thanks to her mate, Remy Holt. Their relationship might be new and it might seem utterly perfect, but thankfully it’s not. They still have to rely on good, old fashioned things like conversation and trust and honesty to ensure their relationship’s survival. And those things don’t always come easy or naturally. Remy is fallible, and thank goodness for that. Characters that seem too perfect and usually completely unbelievable. It was refreshing to see Remy mess up from time to time.
PREY takes us from GPA, back to Blackwater, and then to the shifter summit where events culminate as Skye and Remy come face to face with her former tormentors from Norwood and Long Mesa. These poor kiddos can’t seem to find a quiet moment together as it seems there’s one drama after another followed by more than one revelation that rocks all of them to their cores. We do get to catch up with Larkin and Rhodes, and seeing them together after their novella, BROKEN, is so satisfying. And that ending... well, it’s a doozy.
PREY exhibits no signs of second book syndrome, but rather builds on the excitement and anticipation that was built in SANCTUM. And now I can’t wait for LEGACY!
Absolutely nothing interesting happened until the 80% mark. Nothing.
The heroine was still being coddled by the pack. The hero was there doing some unknown hero thing. It was just meh. It wasn't as interesting as I hope it would be, as the ending of the last book promised.
Give me more than an explosion, dear author. Something that would change these people's world.
“Skye, you’re the strongest person I’ve ever met. If you need my support you have it. Always, I love you and I’ll be with you every step of the way. But your strength is your own.”
There were no words to explain just how excited I was to get my hands on Prey. I’ve never been a big lover of wolf shifter books but then I read Sanctum and fell head over heels in love with this story and Hannah’s writing and honestly, I’m just utterly obsessed. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Prey and I loved every single second of it.
Prey picks up right where Sanctum left off with Skye and her Mom safe at Blackwater, but nothing is going to stay that way with Skye’s uncle dying to get them back. Prey is one twist and turn after another. Right from the start I was completely thrown back into this incredible world and I was so emotionally invested. I can’t even tell you the utter panic I went through reading this book. The whole thing is just one ball of anxiety than gets worse and worse as you go on. I swear I almost had a breakdown throughout this book.
This book is pure gold! I can promise you, you will not see what’s coming, coming. You think you’ve got it all figured out just for Hannah to throw you a curveball and you’re left with your mouth gaping thinking… what the hell is going on?! Hannah has made her way up there as one of my favourite auto-buy authors. It doesn’t matter what this woman writes, I know I will love it just because of the name on the cover.
I was left utterly reeling and dying for more. Prey was stunning, perfect and utterly fear-inducing. While reading this book you’re going to suffer… but you love the characters so much that you don’t really mind all that much. If you haven’t read this series yet… what are you waiting for? It’s absolutely amazing! I can’t put into words just how obsessed and in love with this series I am. It’s a must-read for everyone, even if you don’t usually like shifter books… I don’t but I absolutely adore Blackwater Pack! I can’t wait to get my hands on Legacy… is it April yet? Until then I’m living in Blackwater… and I never want to leave!
“I choose you, Remy. Now, yesterday, tomorrow and every single day I’m alive.”
Wow really wanted to like this book but I don’t know how it went downhill so fast from book one! Seriously my face was basically like 🙄😒😑😓🤬🤦🏻♀️ most of the time. There’s so much dumb in this book like all of the characters had a lobotomy or something I wanted the scream and pull my hair out. And pretty much guessed Daniel/dmitri is skye’s bro as soon as he showed up so no twist there whatsoever 🤷🏻♀️ Don’t know if I’m gonna read the last book at this point. “Don’t be deliberately stupid, princess,” he told me. “It’s not a good look.” Um ya that pretty much sums up this book smh 🤦🏻♀️
Rant on all of the issues I have with this book: Katy is starting to get really annoying like theres a difference between not giving up on ur SO vs being stupid and endangering everyone else. Just reinforces the negative gender stereotypes that women can’t control their emotions and can’t think rationally 🙄 same with skye and tate to a lesser degree and they all really need to stop this stupid toxic feminism bs The make out scenes r repetitive without going anywhere or adding anything to the story or relationship development and I don’t think I buy any guy who would keep turning down sex. They’re gratuitous and frankly I was just bored And what they have their own private jet but not a lawyer who could prep skye for the testimony!? Lemme guess daniel is skyes half bro Stop with the “tate and I” etc when it should be tate and me! How does a professional writer and editor not know this!? It’s gawk at tate and me not tate and I because it’s at me not at I! And it’s from whom not from who! Gosh she can’t even get the pronouns right And if gabe, remy and linden can be present during the testimony for one hearing then why can’t gabe and remy be present for the other!? Makes no sense?? And if remy and gabe r being questioned separately then why r skye and linden being questioned together!? And of course they had to go to the club and skye had to go on her own right? 🙄 and preston just went through all that trouble to get to the club, haul skye out, just for a little chat and give her all that pertinent info!? Why didn’t he just kidnap her?? So what he just happened to know someone in the club security? Or he planted someone there weeks in advance just on the off chance that skye would go there!? And she didn’t even wanna stay to discuss the implications of what preston said with gabe and remy after briefing him? Seriously the girls in the book need to make up their minds whether they’re “strong women” or damsels in distress that need to be coddled. Really don’t know if this author is trying to perpetuate negative gender prejudice or toxic feminism and neither is good The whole inquest is a joke. The whole summit and council are a farce. So they have no pack law lawyers!? And gabe and remy and her mom and everyone else just conveniently forgot to mention the claiming mark!? He’s all like post feminist and shit but when it counted he kept crucial info and choice from her!? How on earth did they think linden wouldn’t bring it up!? Were they born yesterday!? How naive could they have been!? Ya consummating the bond because of the inquest isn’t the best reason but what’s the alternative!? Letting skye be humiliated and discredited in the meeting, which is exactly what happened, or worse got all four of them shipped back to long mesa!? And even after the fight he was still like no we’re not doing this to prove a point to linden and the council like was he fucking serious!? What the hell was he waiting for the second coming of christ!? how many times was he going to ask if she was sure!? She’s basically been asking him the whole book! Is he fucking deaf and blind!? Does anyone have a brain around here!? Luke was stupid to take the bait and lose control and skye is even stupider to even consider visiting tate alone at lindens cabin when a three yr old can c it’s a trap and suicide mission not a fucking INVITATION! How the fuck is that the right call!? I can’t with all the stupid in this book. How is throwing herself into the clutches of linden with tate going to help anything!? And now suddenly she’s like what do u mean let me!? Is she serious!? She can’t just cherry pick when she’s a “strong woman” and no one can tell her what to do and when she can hides and lets the guys take care of biz when it’s convenient for her! The whole tate custody plot turned out to be a pointless non starter after all that fuss. It was way too easy to get her back and what they were just letting skye visit with nothing planned?? Why is this subplot even in there!? I don’t think platitude means what the author thinks it means Ok we really don’t need paragraph after paragraph describing how skye is feeling. Shes nervous and anxious we get it alright!? Can we just get to the fucking point!? But of course linden isn’t gonna do anything stupid when the council goes to investigate long mesa so it’s all moot isn’t it? And what was the point of him accusing blackwater of kidnapping when he knew they could easily prove they didn’t? I thought he’d have something else up his sleeve but nope. This entire plot line is pointless and if they planned on bombing everyone why bother doing that!? Why is skye just opening doors without knowing who it is!? Why can’t daniel just let skye call remy on the phone and just say they need to talk without giving any details!? Like all the characters r dumb and dumber! Gosh can skye just use her head for once!? Whys she only suspecting daniel but refuses to hear any evidence that elias is sus too!? Why is she in denial and refuses to listen to anything when the stakes are this high!? Gotta say preston’s right that she really is dumb. And can she just focus on what’s actually important and urgent right now!? And stop asking non time sensitive questions and actually do something! Ffs! Ok can dmitri stop saying he’ll explain and just explain already!?

*Spoiler free Review* This is the second instalment in the Blackwater Pack trilogy, and it’s just as action-packed and addictive as the first! The book picks up soon after the first left off. However, there’s a secret (ish) book 1.5 that’s only 200 pages that features Rhodes and Larkin and their Christmas vacation love story. If you haven’t read that one, you’re going to want to go back and read it! It’s much shorter than the rest of the books in this series (which are all around 600 pages long), and as a result it’s a much faster burn. When I started reading Prey, I was confused because the will they, won’t they couple Rhodes and Larkin were suddenly together. That said, you don’t have to read Broken first, as all that happens in that book that you need to know is that our favourite beta and omega have found their happy for now. Okay, so back to reviewing this book. It’s so freaking good! It’s just as dark and gritty as the first. There are some shocking twists in the plot, including one twist that I saw coming, but that didn’t stop me from dreading it! All in all, this is a fabulous book that ends on an intense cliffhanger. Like with the first book, there’s an epilogue that literally gave me chills. So good! HEA? Content warnings:
This series was fantastic and ended just as strongly as it started. Remy and Sky are amazing strong characters and there is so much love between them and definitely 🔥.
The supporting characters have been strongly written and developed and the world building is amazing.
Pages: 512 My rating: 4 Read other books by this author in the future: yes MC: Skye, Remy SC: Katy, Maren, Larkin, Rhodes, Tate, Dante, Ryder,Micheal, Zoe, Gabe, Mallory, Dax, Sam, Zara, Bella Bad Guys Trace, Preston, Linden
I liked the second book a little better than the first book because it was fast past. No passages where I thought it could be shorter. The story and the plot were exiting and I am looking forward to the next book. The book ends with a cliffhanger. It was an unexpected ending, which I did not see coming.
Hannah McBride once again managed to shatter me into a million jagged and broke little pieces then slowly and methodically stitched it back together. With every small and large gesture from Remy, Katy, Larkin, Tate, Dante, Luke, Gabe, Mallory, Daniel, Dimitri and the rest of the gang! Hannah manages to put words together in the most beautiful way to inflict the most feels possible.
Prey is book 2 in the Blackwater pack series and continues the story of Skye Markham. An Omega wolf after she escapes her abusive pack and finds sanctuary with her mate Remy Holt and their family, their pack, at Granite Peak Academy and Blackwater. But the honeymoon is on pause because the epic asshats from her old pack, Long Mesa, want her back. It’s time for the summit and it’s definitely not gonna be pretty.
As much as I thought it would hurt; I knew nothing! I was not ready for the amount of joy and pain in this book! Hannah put so much heart and soul in these pages it’s a wonder she has anything left for Legacy! Official cry count for this one was 22 times. I cried 22 times reading this damn book!
*pls check the TW// for this book after the title page*
I cannot believe the ending! I am screaming! The audacity! Makes me love it more. There’s nothing I dislike about this series, I can’t help it. It had become a comfort reading for me at this point.
My favorite things are definitely the sex-positivity I get from the storyline, and although there’s a lot of YA tones to the writing and the characters (which makes sense since they are 18) I adore how mature it feels. Skye is still dealing with her traumas, and it feels like a very realistic way of healing, that includes her pace and reactions. She has some relapses but I love how she and Remy handle it. They are such loving and healthy werewolf couples. I adore the polygamy in this series too, Dante, Tate, and Ryder ♥️ I truly wish he had more of them (PLEASE?), and Katy and Miriam, I hope we get to see Miriam now. Not gonna lie, I missed Rhodes a whole lot, I just fell in love with him and it killed me that he wasn’t in this book.
• certain things did concern me for a second but the plot and characters dissolved the issues for me. I guess for me, certain events ended up making sense as we get more perspectives. One of my favorite things about this book is how as I read it, even if something bothers me, whatever issue is fixed as I continue to read. The author is very sensitive to the plot and sensitive events happening and described in this book.
The plot twist at the end????? Out of nowhere, I did not expect this at all, I am a little excited to meet her father (curiosity killed the cat? I guess not). I was a bit confused regarding the surprising element but I’m truly excited for this new world-building.
Cannot wait for book three and more Remy POV, pls, the last sentence of the epilogue just, wow Remy, get it.
From the moment that I met Skye, I loved her. She is a survivor. Strong and determine, she just makes me so proud. Then there is Remy. Oh Remy. True north. He is one of my very favorite book boyfriends. And he is perfect for Skye.
Yes, these characters are amazing. They are real to me. Friends that I can't wait to catch up with. And boy do I want to catch-up with them after I finished Prey. I need more. More Skye and Remy. More Lark and Rhodes. More Tate, Dante and Ryder (yes 3). More of so many secondary characters.
This is such an amazing paranormal shifter series. Shifters are my favorite, it's true. But I dare you to start this series and not become addicted. It's just that good. The story is amazing. That ending was brutal. I need more. I may never want to leave this group of friends. Updates on their lives will always interest me. It's just that good.
Great characters, great writing, great story telling all this make this a must read series. I highly recommend Prey but make sure you have read Sanctum first. So good.
This book was brilliant, as was Sanctum, but I am SO not okay now. I devoured Prey in one day because I was entirely unable to put the book down. Now I suffer from a major book hangover. But I am super glad I found this series and am looking forward to the release of Legacy. (In fact, to placate my frayed nerves, I might have to reread and reread this book until then.)
Okay.. I don't think I've ever taken so many breaks in one book and in the best way possible.. Seriously though.. It was an emotional roller coaster this book was..There's a very small time jump between Sanctum and Prey and so many questions from Sanctum were answered in this but there were just as many if not more questions raised in here.. Skye was as strong as ever and in one particular scene there were tears streaming down my face without me even realizing so in awe with her fierceness and bravery..Remy.. well.. Remy is Remy.. that is, perfect in all ways that count..he did annoy me a few times in this book, which I thought was impossible but that made him all the more real.. And hey! Give him a break.. Its gotta be exhausting being so swoony all the time..if you already read Sanctum I don't think you have to read my review get Prey.. But if you did not yet read Sanctum, go grab this awesomeness now!
In Prey, we jump in where Sanctum left us. Skye’s back at GPA, wanting so bad to live a life where her past doesn’t catch up to her, but preparing herself, just in case it does.
Remy I felt we didn’t see much of him in Prey, always the busy attentive alpha.
Skye really grows in leaps and bounds in this book, faces her fears, her head held high with her mate by her side.
Love a book that doesn’t centre around the main characters love life, and having a great storyline doesn’t hurt either.
Albeit the story I found at times could be a little slow, it wasn’t to an extent that I was bored. The last half of the book is really where it becomes a real page turner, setting the scene for Book 3.
This book knocked my socks off. I wasn’t expecting the turns. It was much steamier than the first book but I’m going to have to text my family that there will be no laundry or cooking for the next couple of days. I am now hooked on the series.
Wow wow Hannah’s book in this series just gets better and better, prey is the second book in the Blackwater pack series, I was so excited to get my hands on this book, and then when I was given the opportunity to read the arc book of prey and I couldn't wait to dive back into my favourite shifter’s series.
Prey was so engrossing I was so anxious on what was going to happen on each page I turned and also couldn’t read it quick enough to find out as soon as possible, but at the same time I couldn’t stop reading this spine-tinkling read.
Skye is a strong and awe-inspiring attitude no matter what she been going through, she fights for what she wants no matter the constituencies to keep her loves ones and her new pack safe. Skye faces new challenges in prey that will have you on the edge of your seat at every page turn.
Remy oh Remy how I love him so much he is so heart-stopplingly mind blowing, the protection and the perfect mate he is when with skye. He will risk anything for his girl and his pack, everything he did just turned my heart to goo, and love him so much more.
Skye and Remy relationship goes multiple steps up in prey which is so amazing and thrilling to see, Every time there together it is just so beautiful it makes me so happy. We find out a lot of new deep, dark and surprising secrets that has you so astounded and like omg what!! I did not see that coming . We also met some new faces and some new packs.
Overall this was a incredible read and I can’t tell you how much I loved this book, its exciting, action packed and thrilling. It will have you screaming at the book all the way through . A phenomenal and incredible second book Hannah McBride and I cant wait to read the third book legacy. A absolutely howling of a rollercoaster of emotion and a beautifully written journey. Recommend reading Sanctum the first book in the series, and Broken the 1.5 book before reading prey go and buy it now you wont regret it.
This book is absolutely incredible! I waited to read it until I had time off work because I knew that I wouldn’t want to stop reading once I started. And oh boy, was I right. I sat down and read this book in one day. Now I did take breaks because there were times when I just had to put the book down and sit there for a few minutes because I was cussing so much. Have you ever actually yelled at a book? If not, be prepared, because you probably will with this one.
Prey picks up where Sanctum and Broken leave off so if you haven’t already read those then turn back now. Skye and her mom Addie are safely in Blackwater and enjoying some well deserved down time. Skye, Remy and the rest return to Granite Peak Academy for what will be the last semester for the seniors in the group. Almost half the packs had withdrawn from the school after the events in Sanctum so those left are hopeful that it will be a relativity uneventful semester. However, almost immediately female shifters begin disappearing causing the packs to decide to close the school. Things continue to go down hill when Skye’s uncle Linden petitions the council to return Skye, her mom Addie, her aunt Zara, and her cousin Bella back to Long Mesa. This means that Skye ends up attending the Summit so that she can testify as to what life is really like in the Long Mesa pack. Half of the book takes place at the Summit so you can just imagine all of the things that happen and the secrets that are revealed. I’m not going to go into anything else that happens because SPOILERS! If you want to know, you’re just going to have to read the book!
Skye’s character development from when we first meet her in Sanctum is truly something to behold. She is fiercely brave and protective of her pack, her friends, and of course of Remy. Speaking of Remy, *sigh*, I love him soooo much! He’s so incredibly supportive of Skye. He’s there for her through all of the tears and pain of having to relive her past in Long Mesa and he shows her that none of that changes how he sees her or feels about her. I love these two together and I loved seeing the relationship and the bond progress. That’s not to say that they don’t have some issues, because they absolutely do. There are roadblocks thrown in front of them on multiple occasions and they fight about things just like an other couple does. But they always work it out and it’s always them against the world.
I could probably keep going for hours about this book because I loved it so much. It made me laugh, cry, yell, cuss, and there were definitely some times where I needed a fan, because oh boy was it hot! Hannah has made her way onto my small list of authors that is an auto buy for me. If she writes something I’m going to read it!
While I did not enjoy it as much as I did Sanctum, Prey was still an amazing read full of unexpected twists and turns.
It picks up after the events of Sanctum and Broken. After enjoying the break with her mom, Skye and the rest of the gang are back at the academy, but it is not long before female shifters start to disappear and the academy is forced to close.
After enduring years of abuse by her old pack, Long Mesa, Skye has found a place she can call home along with her mom, aunt and cousin. She is also now happily mated to Remy Holt, son of the Alpha of the Blackwater Pack. However, her happiness is threatened by her uncle who petitions the council to have Skye and her family returned back to his pack. This forced Skye to attend the Summit and explain in great detail what kind of abuse she and her family had to endure at the hands of Long Mesa.
The plot is very interesting, with good portion of it taking place at the Summit. It's honestly crazy the stuff Skye's uncle came up with and I honestly wanted to chuck my kindle across the room. I was so enraged. I hate to stop reading at some parts because I was just too damn angry to continue. I honestly wanted to reach between the pages and strangle Skye's uncle with my bare hands. He had good few aces up his sleeve, each being a desperate attempt to get his hands on his female shifters. Just when you think that Skye might be free of his pack, he comes up with another lie to tell. It was very frustrating.
I absolutely loved Skye and Remy's relationship. I love how patient and understanding Remy was and that he didn't push Skye into doing something she wasn't ready for. I also loved how determined Skye was to get over what happened to her so she can be the best mate she can be for Remy. I really admire her strength.
There are few characters that grated on my nerves a little bit, one of them being Katy. She acted really immature in this one. I completely understand that what she's going through must be tough as hell, but instead of acting like a brat about it, she could have been a bit more rational and actually help out instead of causing more problems. I also wasn't big fan of Skye's mom in this book. Don't get me wrong, I admire the hell out of the lady and it's obvious where Skye gets her strength from, but I didn't like how she kept secrets from Skye that also impacted her. She was being really selfish, not wanting to disclose some information that Skye absolutely deserved to know.
I expected a way worse cliffhanger, but even the one has made me feel anxious. I can't wait to read the next book. Quite the bomb was dropped in the end and I cannot wait to get the full story behind that particular revelation.
Prey by Hannah McBride was...whew, I'm not sure where to begin because this felt like multiple plots in one book because SO MUCH happened.
From relationship growth, truths and lies, thrilling action, steamy encounters, and so many emotions, this story was a whirlwind of...everything.
I'm almost at a loss for words because there's so much to focus on. Skye and Remy fought a lot. A LOT. Both tried to protect the other without communicating and while that got exasperating over time, they also manage to be adults and talk out each of their problems. THAT made all the arguments okay. Those two characters are written so carefully it's unreal. All I'll say is this is the type of story you'll pick up on more details the more you read it. And Remy? Le swoon. He was an honest MMC. He made mistakes but owned up to them. He was fiercely protective and alpha, but he gave Skye the right to choose her own path. He walked a fine line and he did it so well that I just wanted to hug him.
And the plot? Y'all. So much happened. This book felt long but I devoured it. I both wanted it to keep going and end. And that ending? 😳 I'm both dying to know what happens next and eager to FINALLY start piecing everything together.
Look, am I having a great time? Yes. Do I think it deserves to be as highly rated as it is? Absolutely not. Definitely needs line edits but it’s a fun little werewolf story (also very dark but the romance is sweet)
CW: kidnapping, SA, bullying, abuse of power, sexism, death, mass killing, trauma, stalking
I enjoyed this one much more readily than the first! Book 1 traumas served more of a purpose here in taking down the abusive system, rather than feeling senseless the way they did in book 1. This book gave a much clearer picture of where the plot is heading and more secrets were revealed to get us closer to the books truths. I’m very excited to see where the last book will land!
I still can't believe that this is Hannah McBrides second release. I love these books so much. Prey was even better than Sanctum, and I absolutely loved the first book!
The story jumps right back into where things left off in Sanctum. I really loved where the author took the story in this book. There are hints of where the story is leading, but there were some things that I did not see coming.
Prey definitely manages to get your emotions going. The tension and action ratchets up a bit in book two. I was glued to the pages needing to keep reading, yet at the same time never wanting it to end.
I love Remy and Skye. These two together just make my heart so full. The steam level definitely intensifies in Prey. Whereas Sanctum had some sexual tension, we do get some sexy times in Prey, which we all know I'm here for!
Emotions were high in this book and I am very much in need of book two, pronto! The end of the book leaves you wanting more, but for me it just made me even more excited to find out where book three will take us. It is technically a cliffhanger, but in my opinion it's not a bad one, it just leaves you excited for what's to come next.
These books are seriously becoming one of my top favorite PNR series. I love Hannah Mcbrides writing and her storytelling. I am very excited for book three and to see where she will take this story next. Absolutely loved Prey and it is in my Top Twenty of 2020.
If you love Paranormal Romance at all, you 100% need to read this series.
**ARC received in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**
This just goes on and on and on. 200 pages in and all that’s happened are more girls going missing. Time to move along. Also, there are some weird logic flaws and I noticed this with the first book (like Katy couldn’t fly with a broken leg but she could ride in a car for seven hours???). In this one, a car is faster than them shifting and running? And if they know Long Mesa and Norwood have connections to a facility, why hasn’t anyone mentioned following them like they did for half a hot second in the first book (or beginning of this one; honestly, I can’t even remember because it’s felt like forever just getting through 200 pages)? At 40%, this eventually happens they FINALLY bring up connections that absolutely could’ve been made so much earlier. Sigh.
Also, why the hell is no one, and I meant no one other than Katy and Larkin or Tate mentioning it only once, recommending therapy more for all this trauma?! Like what the hell??? So many of the adults should be like “let’s get you to see someone to work through all the trauma that keeps getting mentioned and then basically is just like eh it happened but everything is fine.” That in and of itself makes me want to knock off another star.
And you know what? I dropped it down a star anyway. The claiming drama was so stupid. SO STUPID.
And why not plant a recording device to catch Linden and others saying all this crap?! Like hello. Does no one have a phone to get proof of literally anything?! They finally do it but why did it take 84% of the book to get them thinking through anything even remotely logical?! These characters are just such idiots!! Going to the lion’s den because “Tate’s alone.” Nope. Idiotic. It’s just this type of decision making constantly.
3,5* Ax!
Just reread. I absolutely love this series. I never finished the third book so i’m excited to get to it. Skye is a great main character with a lot of growth and I love her relationship with Remy. Remy is swoooooooon. I hope they aren’t separated for long in book three lol.
3.5 for me. Five stars for Remy with that boss ending! Three stars for how irritating it all was.
This seemed faster than the first book. Not much happened in comparison. The main focus was the Summit and the drama there, and it showed. Skye had a lot to deal with. And there was a lot of reaffirmation about her not being a victim, but a survivor. I’m not sure why it bugged me when that’s all I heard from this book, but it did. Does. Still does just thinking about it.
I think the author did an amazing job at the trauma and the recounting of rapes and abuse. I don’t know why Skye didn’t tell them about her cause for leaving, which very well would have further pushed along things. It was a damn dog on a human female. I’m sure even that accusation would wipe the smiles off the Alphas’ faces.
I was on edge a lot with how they thought bringing the girls with them would keep them safe, but then would leave them in the cottage. Like… where’s the bodyguards. Even they said they couldn’t risk anything. It wouldn’t cost the bad guys anything to steal the girls and dip out.
It was very disappointing to see Remy and Addison do what they did. It’s not right. And I didn’t take it the way I should’ve because while I understand their fear, it still went unanswered why they did it except “I was scared”. Which… complicates things.
I liked the drama surrounding the mysterious mating bond. I liked the Summit. Things were long winded. Exciting. Annoying with the repetitiveness. Sad. Heartbreaking. There was a lot going on. The bad guy seemed too obvious so I hope it’s just a stupid plot twist. I love the intro to the new people coming up. And I look forward to seeing what comes next.
It's amazing how quickly you can fall in love with someone's writing. Hannah McBride is a genius, not only her world building is fabulous but her writing style sucks you in.
You love, hate, laugh and suffer along with her characters. I can't even count the amount of times I had to put the book down because I was either bawling my eyes out or my anxiety was through the roof, just by wondering what was going to happen.
Thank God the next book is just around the corner cause I can't stop thinking about everything that happened and those last few pages just about killed me.
I adore Skye, she has overcome so much, there's nothing and no one that can take her down. She has learned to fight for herself and loves the woman she has become. Yes she still has issues, but won't let them pull her down.
Rem is perfect for Skye and even though he messed some things up, it was never intentional. He loves Skye with everything he is and is willing to do whatever it takes so she can be safe.
This books was super hard to read, It broke my heart in more ways than one. It talks about survival and trauma, abuse, mental health. It talks about having the courage to tell your story and not letting fear hinder you.
It's a beautiful gut wrenching story that almost killed me in the last few chapters.
I am NOT ok I wish Legacy came out today, april 16th can't come fast enough.
Ok, hear me out.. I ALMOST, almost didn't download this series because of some of the negative reviews..But the cover was amazing and the blurb seem interesting! I finished all the books, sans legacy ( obviously ) in less than 24 hours!
Both books were THAT good...
So I'm not necessarily here to leave a "review " per say I am here to tell anyone who rates this series low because it's too "Graphic" pull your GOT DAMN big girl (or guy , because I'm all for equality) panties up and have a seat some where in the nose bleed section!!
Seriously this was such an amazing read .. I am salvation at the mouth waiting for Legacy to come out..
The author made it all to easy to fall in love with the characters, shoot I felt like I was apart of the family, hey Auntie!!
If you want to go on a journey this book is for you . If you want to be a baby and complain because there's some MINOR graphic parts this book is not for you... Neither is the TV.. alot of Podcast and a majority of the music played ... Better yet just stay away from people all together... !
