'You should release me, if not for simple decency, then because Peter will rescue me either way.’
Hook chuckled darkly. ‘I hope he will try.’
When Wendy is taken captive by the infamous Captain Hook and kept prisoner aboard his ship, there is little she can do but wait. The seas surrounding Neverland teem with danger and her only hope for liberation seems to be if Peter Pan flies to her rescue. But Wendy is not the sort of girl to remain idle long. After she wins the freedom to roam the ship at will, she turns her attention to the enigmatic pirate captain, of which she has heard so much and knows so little. With his dark eyes and flashing wits, it is not always easy to tell when Hook is being sincere and when he is manipulating her. But what it is about him that keeps drawing her in? Is there more to this villain than she first believed? And does she really know her handsome girlhood fantasy, that boy who will never grow up, as well as she thinks she does?
Lorelei Johnson is an Australian romance author, primarily writing Paranormal Romance and Fantasy Romance. She graduated from Flinders University, where she studied English Literature and Creative Writing before she discovered her degree was useless and she hated studying in an institution. She went into administrative work where she learnt just enough business sense to start publishing her own books.
Lorelei is fuelled by caffeine and sarcasm, priding herself as a true 90's kid. She labels her self-publishing as anti-establishment, but really she's just a chicken who decided to avoid the gatekeepers all together and enjoy the freedom to write whatever the heck she likes. Through her writing, she likes to explore the many facets of love and revel in a little magic and a little smut, of course.
Oh my goodness! Lorelei has done it again! Her writing is brilliant and so captivating. Hooked was HOT!
What a glorious spin on the tale, Peter Pan, and I was “Hooked” from the start. ( pun intended… lol!)
Sorry Peter, but it’s Team Hook for me. ;)
“You were brave enough to seek me out in the middle of the night… be brave enough to stay a little longer.”
(Insert, me fanning myself off) Yes! Maybe it’s my thing for pirates or maybe it’s the author’s talented ways of letting us readers get lost in the story and swooning over her heros. Or in this case, the villain. 🏴☠️🔥
This was my very first read by Lorelei and will definitely not be the last. If you enjoy a well-told tale, Lorelei's beautiful, evocative writing is just the thing. I was hooked from the very first page until the very end and I now want more. I absolutely loved your story, Lorelei, great job!
Don’t mind me ruining my childhood but living out my fantasies. I can’t believe how much story was packed into such a quick read. I loved this. The spice was fantastic and the ending was SO good. I couldn’t stop thinking about this one.
Is it bad that I've already read it three times? I'm just fascinated by this new take on the old tale of Peter Pan vs Hook. It's easy to forget that the cartoonish villain is actually a man, and Lorelei Johnson addresses this perfectly. We are presented with an attractive man, a man whose vendetta against Peter is at least understandable, and even easy to sympathise with. A man who knows what he's doing in the bedroom, too...
This retelling of Peter Pan is amazing. Captain Hook is incredible, I love him!
There's a definite underlying tone of growing from girl to woman in this book and a sense that it's okay to want more for yourself, to feel you are worthy of better.
The dynamic between Wendy and Peter, Peter and Hook, and Wendy and Hook are very well written and you get a really good sense and understanding of these three characters despite this being quite a short story.
Wendy has been taken captive by Captain Hook and is hoping Peter Pan will save her. But the longer she is aboard the ship, the more she realizes the villain isn't who she thought it was.
This novella was a great spin on the story of Peter Pan and Captain Hook. I loved how the villain had a real back story that made sense and was actually worthy of revenge. The scene that we get from the characters was really well done and I only wish there was more!
