Faith Martin is a pen name of English author Jacquie Walton, who is best known for her popular detective series, starring Detective Inspector Hillary Greene.
I've finished one loved series and am near the end of another so I was really happy to discover these books. I liked everything about this series so far - the setting, a simpler time perhaps because there were clear expectations about roles; the characters, one a 19 year old at the start of her career as the only woman at her station, fighting an uphill battle to gain respect as a competent officer & at the other end her mentor, a man who finished one career due to a debilitating illness and is struggling to maintain a second career as a coroner despite physical issues. I also liked the mysteries themselves. They kept me interested without getting too bogged down in details. I'm looking forward to following this pair along. I only hope there are many more books in this series.
Decided to try a Faith Martin book for the first time and wasn't disappointed. Love Clement Ryder & Trudy Loveday. They work well together feeding off each other's strengths and instincts. Was able to figure out the culprit in Fatal Mistake before they did, aha. Really like how Ms. Martin builds and describes her characters, making them come alive to the reader. Started book 4, immediately after finishing #3. I find the book hard to put down. The stories are compelling and interesting.
Faith Martin is one of my favourite authors and I am so delighted to have discovered this wonderful series. Ryder and Loveday are an unlikely pair who compliment each other perfectly. The storylines are unique and thoroughly entertaining. I recommend you give them a go and then you will too will be hooked. ++++++++++++
Faith Martin has become my favourite author. Thanks to my beloved Kindle, I have binged on her books during the Xmas holidays. Just finished #3, and have just started #4. But for the fact that I work, I'd probably stay up all night, trying to figure out who did it. So far, I've been totally unsuccessful, but the unlikely pair of Dr Ryder and probationary WPC Loveday totally engage the reader in their thought processes, which lead to the right outcome.
The Ryder and Loveday stories are enjoyable, and you can’t help but root for Trudy Loveday as she fights for respect as a police constable in early 1960s England. The third book ended in a cliffhanger, which annoys me. I will continue the series and hope for more definitive answers.
