*****

When a massive landslide in the Canary Islands sets off a megatsunami, the east coast of North America is square in its path. On a fishing trip off the coast of Maine, Reese Lavelle barely manages to make it to high ground when the wave hits. His only thought? Getting home to his wife and daughter in South Carolina.

Cami and Amber Lavelle barely escape the wave in Charleston, they retreat inland, watching the city as it's wiped out by the wave in one fell swoop. As those who survived slowly sink into madness and the country succumbs to chaos, Cami's goal is simple: survive at any cost.

[3,5 stars] I had to skip part five of the series, just too much disaster and catastrophies I guess. Besides everything turned so phony and predictable in parts. The fight between the the two “leading” women mad me roll my eyes. And what is this thing the author has with the different accents? They are mentioned from the first book on and it seems to be very important whether someone has a southern drawl or sounds like he or she’s from Maine. So I was just glad to get this series over with. But since I’ve read quite a few books where the world ends one way or another I must admit: this is one of the better series. It has it’s flaws but it is compelling to read.

A final book to keep you intrigued as always. A major landslide, losses and more. How will this all end. Gripping for sure, trying to figure out what happens next. Two spectacular writers together and hopefully for many more stories to come.

Awesome

Breakwater was an awesome end to a fantastic series. The idea that a chunk of the Canary Islands could break off and thereby send a disaster way over here is something I have read about before. More of as a factual disaster idea but to read a series such as this was right up my alley. This whole scenario did entirely possible and because of that, I could connect readily to this premise. There were times I saw how the authors took liberties with how much pain and injury a body can take but it was still a thrill ride from the very first page to the !last page. Well worth the read. Hats off to the authors for another fantastic thrill ride....

Breakwater - a review by Rosemary Kenny

The grande denouement of the amazing Broken Tide series, by Marcus Richardson and Mike Kraus, brings events to an unimaginable climax for the settlement of Bee's Landing, in Book 6, Breakwater.

Raider leaders Cisco and Jenkins have retreated and regrouped after attacking Bees Landing. In order to coerce new recruits, they kill their leaders, to make the rest submit. What is their next plot?

In Bees Landing, leader Cami Lavelle is recovering from injury and exhaustion. Everyone who's able, has to help with reconstruction, starting at Cami's house/their HQ. Who is Harriet ready to attack?

Reese Lavelle is with Jo, as they finally come ashore after fighting to survive following the mega-tsunami. They struggle cross-country, towards Bee's Landing, until the longed-for refuge and reunion is interrupted for one of them.
Who gets caught by Cisco? Who betrays Cisco?

What does the future holds for the survivors of the terrible events throughout the fantastic Broken Tide series by Mike Kraus and Justin Bell?
Can Bee's Landing overcome the loss of one of its strongest mentors and form a united community with elected officials and provisions of food, shelter and safety for everyone?
Are the Lavelle family reunited at last, surrounded by love and friends to support them?

To find out, get your copy of Breakwater (and the previous five riveting 5-star novels), in the Broken Tide adventure, that will haunt and thrill you for a long, thought-provoking time to come!

Amazing series!

Another winner from Mike Kraus, co-written with Marcus Richardson. There were spelling and grammatical errors, and missed out words but these did not detract from a brilliant story. Apocalyptic/post apocalyptic story that was not a repeat of previous stories - where DO you get so many good ideas, Mike? - with exciting story lines, believable characters and extremely good location descriotions. I have read the entire series in about 3 days, and only put tgem down to keep my granddaughter occupied!

I really enjoyed this series!

Talk about suspense. This really was a nail biter. Poor Reese who had struggled so long and against all odds makes it within a few miles from home and is captured by the very crazed man who had brought sheer hell down on his neighborhood. Then the ruthless and foolish HOA decide they are taking over. People really do lose their minds in a disaster. I liked the characters and the plot. It was scary and also realistic.

This was the final book in this very, very good series. The editing was generally good (pyschos instead of psychos, aside). We do finally get everyone together, which was fairly predictable. While the end conveniently and rather quickly tied up the storylines of Cisco and Harriet, it was overall satisfying and the last pages were on a positive note. Definitely this is a series that is worth reading.

And now the rebuilding begins.....

Even as they bury their dead and the threats posed by the deadly Cisco and Jenkins are eliminated....governments must be formed, people rehomed, food acquired in a new largely powerless unmechanized world, and hard work and violence dwell everywhere... But, there is hope and people pulling together in their efforts and with that, all things become possible.

Action plus!

Breakwater brings a number of lines together to a finish, pulls some apart and there’s a surprise or two. Brilliant battles showcase Cassie and her friends, neighbours and enemies. It kept me engrossed to the final page. Loved Jo, Marty and Damien. But it was tough because all the characters, good and bad, are exceptional.

Another great series that draws you into the plot.

This whole series was and is very well written. I felt like i was there with them throughout the troubles and the worst of times. I loved Marty, his death really hit me which is what any writer should accomplish. Please never stop writing. Thank you both for yet another great series.

One of the better TEOTWAWKI stories.

Mike Kraus (and company) always does a good job telling a tale, but this story, in my opinion, is one of the better ones. I really enjoyed reading it and getting to know the characters. Speaking of characters he also did a great job of character development. That doesn’t always happen in these stories. Great job, Mike!

Is this the last one?

Loved this series. Couldn't wait for this last one. I kept wondering what was happening with Reese and Jo, Cami, Flynt, Harriet, and the rest of Bee's Crossing. I enjoy most of the books I've read from Mike Kraus and his cowriters. Keep them coming.

A fitting ending to a fine story.

This story ended in a great climax, bringing the storyline to completion with feeling "rushed" as is the case in so many series. For more, read it yourself!

What a conclusion to this series even if I wanted some more closure on some of the characters. While there is considerable violence te majority would be expecting of this nature considering the of the setting.
