Bullard’s barely aware of his surroundings, as he slowly emerges from a coma and months of slow healing. He recognizes the general area but not the facilities or the woman attending him. Neither does he remember exactly what happened.
Leia, a gifted surgeon in her own right, hadn’t expected this giant of a man to wash up in the shallows by her beach, nor to call on every trick she’s ever learned to keep him alive. Her instincts tell her to take a leave, to keep him hidden, even as she struggles to answer his questions. The longer he’s with her, the more she realizes how hard it could be to let him go. But he has turned the corner and is healing quickly.
Only the real world intrudes faster than expected, as one of Bullard’s team shows up on her beach, bringing others, who’d been watching and waiting for the team to find Bullard for them—and now swoop in for the kill …

Finally, Bullard is found and alive! He has been found by the lovely Leia.
I love the progression of this series. All the twists and turns, mysteries and murders have kept me anxiously reading each installment. The mystery has ramped up nicely and now Bullard is awake his realization of having been out of reality for quite some time makes this a unique turning point in the series.
Bullard is still needing to heal, strengthen and remember the events that put him on this paradise of an island with a very beautiful care giver. Leia literally saved him from the ocean and nursed him back to the health he experiences now. Day by day, Bullard remembers more of what his life is and the people that live in it.
It was pure enjoyment reading about how Leia managed to find Bullard floating in the ocean while she was fishing. She took him back to her hut and nursed him. They have become close as well as both needing to know what happened to Bullard and realize danger is near and must keep a sharp eye to make sure no one sneaks up on them.
We will soon learn who is behind the attacks on Bullard and his team as well as who is the traitor to Leia. I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it! An exciting and mysterious journey with the added bonus of love! I loved it!
“you’re insecure, and I understand that. Now it’s my job to make you feel confident in yourself and in the two of us.” - Bullard
I need Bullard in my life. I love him. He's so romantic, protective and will do anything for anyone he cares about. It's hard not to love and adore this man.
As for the story. This one is Bullard's story, throughout this series this one is what I've been waiting for, yup Bullard is alive, after being blown up he's survived, although I kinda guessed it, but still I'm happy he's alive and found love and ready for revenge. After getting injured for so long he's ready to punish the one who's responsible for all of these attacks. This is the climax of the series. It might be predictable for me and ended too fast and too short for my liking, but I still love all the action and love that second case and the camaraderie of the team and cute sweet love between Bullard and Leia. Full action story, sweet romance, and loveable characters, definitely recommended for everyone who's looking for a fast-paced romantic suspense read.
No plot spoilers There is a kidnap in the plotline There are some errors, mixed tense etc and a couple of plot holes but as it is the 8th book and the culmination of the series (apart from book 9) I would expect the author possibly forgot about odd things in the plotline. It's not an issue, but since I read the series back to back certain things do remain in the memory long enough to stand out. I guessed the bad guy by book two, but since the subsequent books held one fast paced event after another the convoluted plotline tries to pull attention away by introducing new baddies in every book. It became quite complicated at one point. Regardless, most of the series had little to do with the question of who was after Bullard and more about the love interest. That's another thing, everyone says 'interesting' every five minutes, even the baddies. Seriously, someone needs to go through the series and count them all. If they were audio books you could make a drinking game out of it. The author seems to have little awareness of other countries and cultures, treating South Africa much like the U.S. Even to the point of comparing the legal system. Supposedly the compound is just outside Johannesburg, but the author totally ignores the abject poverty within the township, the people scavenging on rubbish tips, the shanty towns where people struggle to survive and the unrelenting gang warfare killing so many young men not to mention the exploitation of females. There are no descriptors of the country whatsoever. The country is a black majority but everyone has 'regular ' white names. I do think there is a certain element of racism in the series, with every character white, even the bad guys - and that's a plot device often used in the industry. The same could be said for homophobia, no LGBTQ rainbow nation for the author. It's all a bit 'golly gosh and pass the gin' The characterisation isn't the strongest, with every lead character interchangeable with the previous book, except for the name change that is. Same with the female leads. I read the series because once I start I like to finish but by book four I really didn't care much how the series ended. There is one light sex scene (what does the author have against using condoms? Not a single sex scene in the whole series included protection against nasties or birth control) Would I recommend the series, maybe to aunt Sylvie at the church book club, but if you are looking for romance with intrigue and an engrossing plotline that reflects reality I would advise looking elsewhere.
We are finally getting very close to the conclusion of this series. At this time, I find myself consumed with my usual ambiguous feelings when I come to the end of a book that I love. In spite of my impatience to find out what has happened to Bullard, I still did not want the series to end. Bullard’s story is one of Dale Mayer’s most exciting series! It has lots of action, danger, intrigue and many nasty villains.
In this book, the reader finally finds out what has happened to Bullard. We find out that he is recovering after being severely injured in the airplane crash. He is being taken care of by Leia, a surgeon who ran away from the world when she was falsely accused of murdering a patient. For years, she has lived alone on this desert island, which is where she found Bullard after his plane crashed.
Bullard is currently working to regain his strength. His goal is to return to his life and his team. His plan is to find out who has been trying to kill him and his team members, and to eliminate them. Therefore, he asks Leia to get him a cell phone so he can gather his team together to help him search for the culprits.
However, Bullard wants Leia to leave “paradise” and go back home with him. He wants to clear her name and reputation so she can perform surgery again. Unfortunately, both Bullard’s and Leia’s lives are in great danger.
I was in tears when Bullard finally reunites with his team. The love and loyalty between these teammates is very unusual. The way they work together to keep Bullard and Leia safe from their enemies is very impressive to read..0
This book is filled with non-stop action and intrigue. The story will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Bullard is alive but he is barely aware of his surroundings and as he slowly emerges from a coma he starts to recognise the general area he is in but not the facilities nor the woman who is caring for him. Even worse, he can't remember exactly what happened. Leia is a gifted surgeon in her own right and she hadn't expected a man to wash up in the shallows by her beach nor call on every trick she had to keep him alive. Her instincts are to keep him hidden even as she struggles to answer his questions. The longer he is with her the more she realises it will be hard to let him go but he is getting well enough to leave soon. But the real world intrudes faster than she expected as one of Bullard's team shows up on her beach bringing others who had been watching and waiting so they can swoop in for the kill.
Finally in typical l fashion for Bullard, we get to make real progress on the search for him as well as the solution on who was targeting the team and him too. The recovery of Bullard was well described and you could feel his frustration as he started to recover. The action was suitably dramatic and it was great to finally work out who was behind all the drama and danger that the team has been put through. I loved Leia and her own troubles and personality which was woven into the story of Bullard and the team in a way to distract and delay everything. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.

Yae, Bullard is alive ! I love this series of books, even though they are all standalone stories this is the one that I have been waiting for. Bullard was the head of Bullard Securities, a team of hand picked ex military men who were like brothers. Bullard's plane was blasted out of the sky, Bullard disappeared into the ocean but his team never gave up hope that he was still alive. Months later Bullard opened his eyes and found himself on a tropical island, his body was battered and his memory poor, he was being tended by beautiful, serene Leia who was delighted to find him awake. When Bullard saw how broken his body had been it became obvious that Leia had medical experience but she was tight lipped about it. As the days passed Leia and Bullard were able to piece bits of his accident together and Bullard's memory began to return, Leia knew that very soon Bullard would leave her. What was Leia hiding ? Bullard knew that he had to return to his old life but could he leave Leia ? It became obvious that whoever had tried to wipe out Bullard's team was still on their tail but who was it and why ? all their lives were still in danger As Bullard and his team tried to make sense of what was happening romance blossomed between Leia and Bullard. Another great story from Dale Mayer and I look forward to the last book in the series.

If you are following this series you know that Dave is checking on reports of unidentified men to find Bullard dead or alive. He's on his way to a really good possibility on a push from Terkel. Unfortunately Quinn has also gotten a message from the boss who's been leading them on a wild goose chase around the world. He knows too.
This book opens showing Bullard waking although still a bit foggy and his memory isn't what it should be. Leia won't fill in details, she knows only time can bring things back. She's done the nearly impossible in keeping him alive, that he's healing so well is a tribute to her ability.
As Bullard gains his strength and memory, his feelings for Leia also increase. When he returns to his world he wants her with him. Leia has secrets too, some that she really doesn't want to come out.
Leia obliges his request for a phone and the first person he calls is Dave.
Little does Bullard know the forces that originally caused the plane to go down are waiting in the shadows and make their move as soon as Dave arrives. Not on Bullard directly but they take Leia.
It becomes a race to not only find Leia but also uncover the identity of the person behind it all.
Full of suspense, secrets, intrigue and some sizzle, you won't be able to put this book down.
Bullard is back from the dead. He has been healing slowly but his memories are still just out of reach. An angel named Leia saved him and when word gets out that he is alive, he and his team will do everything they can to save her and finally figure out who started this all. Leia's world is about to collide with Bullard's and she isn't quite sure she wants to live in his world and its ugliness. She had lived in that world until she came to her island five years ago. She craves the peace and tranquility of simple island life but it all comes crashing down.
This was an exciting conclusion to the end of this storyline. Well, not quite the end as there is one more. Leia is a great match for Bullard. I hoped that Bullard would have his own happy ending. He just needed to let go of Ice and let himself be loved. Leia did that. All of Ms. Mayer's heroines are strong, independent women. They can hold their own against the strong alpha men that they love. I have enjoyed this series as the books are exciting, action-packed, and are all centered around a mystery. I hope that will see more of Bullard and his team in future books.
(4.5) I have never been a huge fan of Bullard, I couldn't quite get a handle on him. This book made me fall in love with him. Big Bad Bullard showing softness and seeing some of the goodness life can offer. It was a nice change of pace to start on the idyllic island. We get to know Leia, and Bullard. Dave is the first one to find out Bullard is alive and when each of the team members meet up with Bullard, it's an emotional party. Things happen ( I try not to do spoilers - sorry) that have to do with Leia's past. Both stories meld together and provide plenty of suspense! We do get a resolution to Bullards plane explosion and yes.... I was right! The way that was handled was unexpected. Leia thinks her past has been handled thanks to Bullard and the team, but we find out at the end there are unexpected questions that lead to another book, yeah!!! We also see a wedding , or two, or three, or four or more in the planning. Bullards Beauty was a exciting, entertaining and still brought resolution. Thank you for the arc! I freely share my thoughts and opinions.
This is the 8th book in the Bullard Battle series. Bullard is the owner of a security company based in Africa. He went missing after the plane he was on blew up over the ocean. Leia is out fishing when she discovers Bullard floating caught in weeds. Being a surgeon, she was capable of nursing Bullard back to life on the South Pacific Island that she escaped to. The book starts off a little slow following Bullard’s recovery, but once Bullard had recovered the action starts and does not stop. Bullard borrowed a phone and contacted his team. This leads to a series of events which put Leia’s life in danger. Once Leia is out of danger, the team returns to their base in Africa. It is there that Bullard’s suspicions are confirmed and the person behind the plan to kill Bullard and his team is identified. Once the threat is removed, the book ends with Bullard’s happily ever after. I cannot wait to read the next book about their wedding back on the island.

Solid 4.5 star It's finally time to learn what happened to Bullard after the plane blew up and boy is he one lucky guy for where he found himself, not only is he alive and healing but Leia who saved him has also sheltered him from the outside world due to the way she has chosen to live. As things slowly start to come back to Bullard his attraction and wanting to know more about Leia builds as well, but danger doesn't stay away for long and while working out who is behind trying to wipe out Bullard and his team they need to help Leia. We get to see the team working together not only to get Bullard home safe but with Bullard reevaluating life he wants to ensure Leia is not only safe from her past but also home with him. I had an idea of who I thought it was after some of the hints in the last book, but yet I still was shocked when it was finally revealed and they were confronted as this betrayal cuts like a knife.

Finally we get to see what happened to Bullard, where he’s been, how he is and who he is with. The months haven’t been easy for Bullard, busted bones, memory loss, no strength, surgeries and and angel nursing him back to health, being by his side day and night. Leia found Bullard floating in the ocean while fishing, scooped him up and brought him back to her island where she is all alone and away from civilization. It’s been years since she has operated but she was Bullard’s only chance and now months later, he’s finally able to do much more on his own. His memory is slowly coming together and when he figures out who he really is, he is ready to hunt the person responsible….but will Leia leave her island paradise and join him. A great read with suspense, betrayal, some steam and great characters. I loved Bullard and how he didn’t cheapen his love for Ice and was able to find Leia, a woman just for him. I liked the no drama and how everyone is altogether by the end with a welcoming reunion with all. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Bullard’s Beauty by Dale Mayer Bullard’s Battle Series Book Eight Bullard’s brain and body were both broken. Had been for a while now. But, after what must have been months, pieces of his life were slowly falling into place. He was on an island with a beautiful woman who’d been taking care of him. Now, he was finally getting some strength back and stronger memories. He was alive. Leia had left the real world five years ago. Then, she’d been fine with her piece of the island. Enjoying the peace and calm of the beautiful Pacific island. Now, as her patient was quickly recovering…both physically and mentally…she realized that when he left, she’d miss him. Leia had been hiding, but when word got out that Bullard had been found…her past followed in the wake. She thought that five years was long enough to be forgotten. But she was wrong. What a great story. I’d been looking forward to reading Bullard’s story after the plane crash finally. **Sensual content and language https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
I happened to read this out of sequence by accident. The audio was a borrow from Hoopla, so I figured I would find out what happened to Bullard.
Honestly, this was a bit boring. After Bullard's entire team being attacked, I expected more action and suspense. Both Bullard and Leia literally saw people watching them, and they took no precautionary actions.
Bullard had been blown out of the sky. Leia had run for her life. Both of them were hiding out. BUT, neither of them gave any thought to being careful on this island.
I kept waiting for Mr. Security expert to do something. I'm glad I didn't hold my breath for it. Tbh, I didn't care much for Leia's character at all.
I listened to the audiobook and the one good thing was that it was narrated by one of the better narrators in this series.
I obviously missed another book because when the true culprit was exposed, I didn't know why what happened had happened to cause the need for another and revenge.
A quick jump over the ocean should be easy but its not. For Bullard it changes everything. With his memory loss and his body fighting to get better, Bullard realise he is a very lucky man. Leia has left behind her life in the city and her career as a doctor, moves to an island for the nice easy slow past is very glad for it when she finds an injured man on her island. Putting her skills to work Leia saves Bullard. Over time Billard starts to remember but is waiting to heal more first. When able to remember, Bullard contacts his team to start working out what went wrong. Hearing all the trial and events his team has had, Bullard talks Leia into to coming back, face her past and asks her to move in with Bullard. When Bullard makes it home is when the events change and we get all the answers. Love this series.
Bullard is alive but he was severely injured in the plane explosion. Leia is a heart surgeon who left the world behind for a little peace and quite on an isolated island. Leia finds Bullard in the ocean and does what she can to save his life and fix his injuries. Bullard's team is looking for him and they finally find him but Leia is kidnapped shortly after Dave finds Bullard. Bullard has to protect Leia, she is his and he can not imagine his life without her. Once Leia is rescued she tells Bullard her story and why she left the world behind. Leia's past is coming for her and it will take everything Bullard has to keep her safe. Bullard has a very good idea who is after him and his team, he hopes he's wrong because this person spends time with him and his team. I love this book, the story had me from page one and the characters are amazing.
After the explosion Bullard was grievously wounded but fate played a part when he was rescued by Leia. He has spent this time trying to heal both physically and emotionally, but he knows that the time has come for justice to be served however Leia has come to mean so much to him and he doesn’t know if he can face a future without her.
Leia is a surgeon who was forced to turn her back on her medical career and is living her life in seclusion. She has been helping him heal but when he reunites with his team rather than bringing safety it only escalates the threat as they find themselves fighting for their lives and each other.
We finally have all the answers that we have been search for as they take us on a suspenseful journey where we not only get to witness the camaraderie between the team but the deepening love between Bullard and Leia.
I never doubted he was alive though obviously injured, nobody could survive that plane without some. This starts nice and calm in a beautiful setting but don't get lulled into a false security he still has people after him and the team looking as well, so risks are high. Leia is lovely, kind and strong, even though her past sent her to this beautiful place. But pasts don't always stay there, sometimes they clash with the now. The calm doesn't last then is action all the way to the finishing line, there are yet more twists and turns before a tense climax. Glad to know my guess was spot on. I look forward to the next book because it isn't quite all over yet, so that was a surprise. Started 19/10/21 Finished 20/10/21
After his plane exploded, Bullard has holes in his memory and his body needs healing. Leia, rescued him from the ocean and brought him back to the remote South Pacific Island to heal. Leia has secrets from her past which she starts to slowly share with Bullard as he remember his life. When Bullard gets into contact with the outside world, it puts both of their lives in danger. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I love that there are two mysteries to be solved in this. We learn who is behind the attacks on Bullard and his team and who is behind the danger to Leia. I love how Leia is a good match for Bullard. She is strong and independent. This is a very suspenseful book.
Leave it to Bullard to find beauty and a peaceful desert island. Of course, it's not quite that simple or the story would be dull at best. It seems as though everyone is hunting someone and for more than one reason. The bad guys are vicious and evil. The good guys are honest, trustworthy and strong. So the hunted involves more than one and the suspects are many. The hero is getting stronger and comes with support. The heroine is strong, capable, has a history. This is a most interesting story involving huts, boats, kidnapping and guns. Kept me reading well into the night. It looks like this tale, although having a very satisfying ending, will go on a bit and I'm delighted. Can't wait to read the rest!
It's been a while coming, while we anxiously wait for news on Bullard. Why he hasn't contacted his team in all this time. Injuries, amnesia and surgery kept him mostly unconscious and unaware of who he was. His saviour, Leia is a trained surgeon enjoying her time in isolation on a tranquil island due to a past disaster. Finding Bullard on the beach and tending to him for weeks he finally is stronger in body and mind as his memories return. Contacting the outside world could bring rescue or danger to their location. When Leia is affected by these circumstances it's a race to find out if it's her past or his...or is it both? I loved all the action and danger and did not see the end twist coming. Great story.
Bullard is alive, maybe still had a long recovery ahead but is alive. Leia, who found Bullard and basically gave him his life back is happy he is progressing but not happy with the thought that he will leave as soon as possible. As he begins a long journey back to finding his life physically he also had to find his life in his scrambled brain. Leia would reward Bullard with pieces of her information when would remember something of his, but she'd never tell him why she on this island when it was obvious she was a skilled doctor. Trouble finds them about the same time as his crew does. Now they need to finds missing important person and continue to solve the puzzle of who is trying to take out Bullards team!
Bullard is being nursed back to health by Leia on a remote island and he isn't aware of many things as he suffered a head injury (as well as physical injuries). Under Leia's care, he is recovering nicely. Can he get his memory back before those searching to do him harm find him? What about Leia? Why is such a talented individual living in such a remote location and can she be trusted? Read and find out!
I really enjoyed this book in the series and am looking forward to the next one. While this is a stand alone novel, the books really need to be read in series order to understand the background of the story.
Bullard wakes up from his coma on a small island with multiple broken bones, had brain surgery and is very weak. Finds out that the woman who rescued him from the ocean after the plane exploded did the surgeries and has been nursing him back to health, She was a well known heart surgeon who was railroaded out of her job so she left the U.S. and bought the island As Bullard ia leaving to return home he asks Leia to come with him but finds that she has been kidnapped by his enemies. Now Bullard and his crew have to go on the hunt to find her.

Yay, we finally gets some answers. Specifically, what happened to Bullard after the plane exploded, who has been taking care of him, and who is behind Bullard and his men having attempts made on their lives. We also learn what happened to send Leia to a remote island to live. This story is full of suspense as danger is brought to the island and it unknown for sure whether some people can be trusted. Then there's the love that has developed between Bullard and Leia, and their struggle to make decisions that will either keep them together or tear them apart. It does end with one question remaining and I can't wait for the finale.
This action packed suspense filled thriller will have you on the edge of your seats and the characters are captivating. Bullard wakes up on a island in the middle of the Caribbean. His memory is hazy. But the beautiful woman has been taking care of him for a longtime. Her name is Leia. She tells him that he needs to heal and his memory will come back when his body is ready be patient. There is danger coming an he's got to get ready the best he can he needs a phone to call his team. There are so many twists an turns to this story you will be riveted til the very last page and leave you begging for more.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.
Wow - what a great read with nonstop action, suspense and some answers on who attacked Bullard and his team. I was totally engrossed as soon as I started reading and I couldn't put this nail-biter down and wasn't ready for it to end when I got there. I loved the heartwarming romance between Bullard who wakes up on an island in the South Pacific and Leia who nursed him back to health. This has been one of my favorite series and I am sad it's coming to an end but can't wait to see what happens next. I received an advance reader copy of Bullard's Beauty from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This is the jaw dropping answer to the big mystery. We find out where Bullard has been and who is behind the attacks on his team. I really liked Leia. She is a very interesting character and a great match for Bullard. I love seeing him be able to move past Ice finally. Then there are the threats against Leia. This strong alpha guy has a lot to defend. The romance is sweet. The mysteries full of suspense and shocks. I'm so glad there is one more book. I'm not quite ready to say goodbye to these characters. I also hope there's a HEA for Dave.

We get to find out what has been going on in the months since the plane crash that injured several of his team mates.
We also get to meet the 'beauty' who has been nursing him back to health. Leia, a gifted surgeon who has been hiding out on her very own tropical island, nursing her own wounds. It doesn't take long for the news of Bullard's survival to reach the ears of his enemies. The resulting showdown reveals the true extent of his betrayal. Leaving Bullard and Leia to finally find their happily ever after.
AHH! It is 12:22 AM and I just finished this book. I absolutely loved it! Just when I think Dale Mayer has written her best, she goes and writes a book so much more than that. Intrigue, suspense and romantic. What more could you ask for. This was a great heart pounding read, that was well written and had memorable characters, that made the story just come alive. It drew me in at the beginning and had me so captivated, that I just couldn’t stop reading it once I started. I would definitely be happy to re
