Hangry: adjective—feeling irritable or irrationally angry as a result of being hungry.
Sometimes, Crockett felt that in her soul.

And, of course, the one time that she’s being ‘irrationally angry’ would be the time that the hottest guy on the continent walked into her place of business dressed in prison orange.

She should’ve been afraid.

She should’ve taken one look at him and walked the other way.

But, she didn’t.

Crockett Archer, better known as a doormat extraordinaire, didn’t walk away from the people she knew needed her. She’d never been able to do it with a father that didn’t love her, and she wouldn’t be able to do it with a man that didn’t think he deserved a chance at love.

One look is all it takes for Zach Caruso to know that Crockett could be his.

All he would have to do is snap his fingers, and she’d fall right into the palm of his hand.

Which is why Zach turns around and walks far, far away.

He tries not to look back.

He tries to leave her be.

But then he sees how she’s treated by the people that are supposed to love her, and all cognitive thoughts seem to flee his rational brain.

One second, he’s running in the opposite direction. The next, he’s playing her knight in dingy armor.

God help her.

First of all, that cover... 😍😍

Second... I've been anticipating Zach's story ever since he shoved that piece of glass in that bully's heart. I've loved him for a while. And to finally see him get his happy ending made my day!

After killing the guy who almost killed his girl, Zach was tried and convicted and sent to prison. Thanks to Lynn, he got out early and he was trying to put the pieces of his life back together. First stop, a real meal. And that's where Crockett comes in.

Crockett was a doormat. Poor girl had only one ally, her grandfather. Her father hated her and did everything he could, along with her stepmother, to make her life miserable. And while her siblings didn't participate, they didn't dissuade the abuse either. And Crockett just took it... until Zach.

Amidst zany family shenanigans, the banter between friends, the appearance of Cleo and Rue (his parents from Life to my Flight), and the pop up of Ford and Ashe, I found love. Not that I was surprised, since I love everything Lani Lynn Vale puts out. Zach was a wonder!

Crockett has been treated poorly for most of her life. For a long time she kept her hurt hidden but Zach is not one to stand for abuse. He calls out those who have been mistreating her and gives her confidence that changes her life.

I remember being really curious when I read on a previous book about that Zach did to get himself put in jail. He is protective and willing to cross whatever lime needs crossing to achieve this. He has good chemistry with Crockett even as he initially resists.

The plot was a little bit of a stretch of the imagination but quite entertaining. The LLV formula and distinct writing was felt consistently throughout the book. Can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Honestly ,I really can't rate this any higher and I really enjoy this author's books .
I was looking forward to Zach's book and this was a let down for me.
Why is it when you get your hot little hands on a fav author's book with characters you want to read about ,and the book just fails for you as a reader?The heroine had so much hate from her family that I am surprised that they did not arrange for her to be kidnapped by space pirates and sold into intergalactic slavery.Everything happened to her ! It was getting to be a bit much with all the misdeeds done to her.Then there was all the" running "sections...did I really need to read on what it takes to be a runner..a few paragraphs would have done well enough.
I loved the hero and his family..they are the OG of the Dixie Wardens and I loved that series.Great seeing appearances by some of the past characters especially Dixie.
I will continue to read and I know that not every book will appeal to me ,but LLV has a " hook" that is addicting.

One of the best things about getting closer to the end of this series is getting to know the characters better before we get to their books. So, I was really excited that we were finally getting Crockett and Zach's story. It feels like we have seen a little bit more of each of them every book and I loved them as much as I thought I would.

Crockett was a bit of a door mat when it came to her family. I was a little nervous that it might carry over to her relationship with Zach. Which was a rookie mistake since the heroines have been great and the heroes have been awesome.

Zach started off a little shaky trying to deny his feelings for Crockett. But once he decided to go for it, he was 110% invested. And he was caring and protective. The sex scenes were hot, and their relationship was perfect to watch unfold.

I'm so looking forward to the next book, but we are getting so close to the end I wish it could last forever.

Zach surprised me, yeah I knew he was a good guy before but the way he goes to bat for Crockett floored me. He's a little grumpy, gruff but he's also the sweetest guy ever, Crockett has won the lotto in family (not😒) I wanted to pack em up (except for her grandfather Murphy of course) and tie em up and give them a whooping for life. I'm so heated over how her family treats her but you know what? Zach made up for it, he treats her like a queen, Gen Pop is an amazing book, you will laugh a lot and smile with these characters. Great read author Lani Lynn Vale, you did it again

ZACH
Six months ago

Zach is released from prison, courtesy of Lynn, the mayor. His first stop after his release is a hamburger, a late-night chance meeting, a man newly released from prisoner, he was attracted to Crockett from the moment he saw her, captivated by the beauty of her eyes. Believing himself to be unworthy, he steers clear . . . until he witnesses how miserably everyone in her life, treats her.

Zach is Dixie Warden second generation. Cleo and Rue’s (Light To My Flight) son. He sacrificed everything when he killed a man in the name of love, his career as a Gynaecologist, his freedom, his life, only to have his then girlfriend Juniper end things.

Crockett Archer was referenced in previous Souls Chapel books. She has been the black sheep of her family since her mother’s death. A highly trained chef, she’d spent her time as a chef in a popular restaurant in Nashville, and knew her way around a kitchen.

Her mother died and her father remarried, Melody, the spawn of Satan. She’s treated despicably by her father, his wife, her half-siblings and her siblings. They neither seem to notice or to care. Crockett notably has the fortitude of a saint dealing with such undeserving relatives. Melody even encouraged her stalker to lurk in dark shadows.

Six months later, he’s working for Lynn and getting acclimated. Murphy is Crockett’s grandfather, Danny and Nora are her brother and sister, Belinda is about to marry Danny, she’s not particularly approachable. Her best friend Six is married to Lynn. Her father is spineless, her stepmother Melody, a vile, wicked creature and her younger half-sister Rockett is spoilt and evil.

“He’s at your sister’s track meet,” my stepmother replied.
“He’s what?”
“He’s at her track meet,” she repeated. “Why?”
Do you want to know how many track meets my father came to of mine?
Zero.
I’d been a near Olympic medalist in high school.
In fact, I’d gone as far as to try out for the Olympic team.
I’d made it, too.
Except, when I realized even that hadn’t impressed my father, I’d quit.
She essentially cut off her nose to spoil her face.

She invites him to accompany her to her brother’s wedding, but he refuses.
“Hey, Zach?”
“Do you want to go to a wedding with me?”
“Is that woman going to be there?” (meaning Melody)
“Then hell no, I do not want to go to a wedding with you.”
I’d done everything that I could to get a date over the years. I was just too awkward. And there I went, putting myself out there because I’d thought I felt a connection, and he’d shot me down.
Obviously that connection was all in my stupid head.
I couldn’t even get a date from a man that pitied me.
Crockett, used to rejection, having had it all of her life, doesn’t find Zach’s reaction surprising as she’s always been ignored and mistreated.

Her father went into the store during lunch rush, he thought it would be a good idea to see her while she was too busy to interact. That would ease his conscience on ignoring her since his wife resented her getting any attention.
“Why is he the way he is?”
“Why is it just Crockett, though? I mean, there aren’t any reasons for this. And from what she’s told me, as well as you, they don’t get the same treatment. What is it about Crockett that spawns this kind of anger?”
Before I could open my mouth and reply to anything more that he had to say, a car pulled up, and my heart rate started to race.
“You okay?” Murphy asked.
Juniper, the woman who I once thought was the love of my life, had been doing this to me since I’d gotten out of prison.
She’d drive by my place, idle in her car, and then leave before ever getting out.
At some point in the last six months, when Crockett came into the picture, I’d stopped caring about Juniper. I’d stopped thinking about her all day every day.

“Crockett didn’t tell me that she had a boyfriend,” Nora said, sounding upset about it.
“You don’t strike me as the type to know much about your sister’s life,” I admitted. “Do you know that she has a stalker? Do you know that your stepmother treats her like absolute shit? Did you know that she broke down on the side of the road the other day and was there for over an hour because she had nobody to call to come get her?”
“I’m trying to say that you and your brother live in your own little bubble and have no earthly idea what it’s like for Crockett, from what I understand, Murphy is your grandfather, too, right? Then why aren’t y’all there helping with his store? Why did Crockett have to give up her career to do that? Why didn’t y’all volunteer to help? Why is she working her ass off right now? Why is she the sole caretaker for your grandfather? Why is your little sister named so close to Crockett? Why do y’all allow her father to treat her like dirt and not stick up for her?”

Back to Zach and Crockett. Crockett’s hurt acceptance at their mistreatment, at her brother's wedding … Melody shows up wearing a white dress to outshine the bride. Zach and Crockett prevent her from entering, she then changes into a backup, the exact dress worn by the mother of the bride.
“It’s the same dress as the mother of the bride, you did send it to her, right? Showed her Nadine’s dress as an example on what to wear?”
Nora tossed her head back and groaned. “Yes.”

Murphy always tried to shelter and defend Crockett, not her brother and not her sister. After Zach enters the picture, he becomes the real hero. Crockett's family are repugnant human beings.
“You’re just a no-good piece of trash is what you are,” Melody said. “I knew from the beginning that you were going to ruin this family. That was why I had your dad cast you aside. That was why when your mother died, I fought so hard to get into his life because I knew that, if left to your own devices, you’d ruin this family. And God, you were so whiny! Always begging for every little scrap that we would give you. My God, you were an embarrassment from the very beginning. The day you moved out was the best day of my life.”

Her little sister had texted her announcing that she was ‘taking a mental break’ from her because she was ‘exhausting her’, her other two siblings had gone out on a lunch date without her and also without inviting her to join them.
“Danny and Nora have lunch once a week without Crockett, I heard that from Murphy.”
Belinda sat down hard on the chair next to me.
“She never has time to meet…” Belinda started.
“She takes a lunch every single day for a couple of hours. Closes the store down to do it if she doesn’t have someone to cover that shift. Twelve to two. When a normal person would take lunch,” I pointed out.
“What did Crockett do wrong? Why does everyone hate her?”
“I…I don’t know. I didn’t realize that anything was wrong.”
Just then, the group taking photos broke apart, and the two sisters separated to head to where I assumed was the bathroom. Danny came over to where his wife was standing and wrapped her up in his arms.
I wasn’t sure what to think of Danny just yet.
The same went for Nora.
I just couldn’t find it in my heart to like a person that willingly allowed their sister to be treated like crap from a family member.
(To make matters worse, when she’d confronted them, they acted innocently, as though her being upset that they never invited her was new to them).
The most inconsiderate, insensitive siblings.

Melody made cookies laced with Ipecac to induce vomiting.
“You just fed her cookies that induced vomiting. How much did you give her?”
Melody looked positively green now. “I… it was a very small dose. I made sure it was safe.”
In all the time that Melody was being questioned about her antics, not once had Crockett’s father spoken up in defense of her. No, he looked bored. Disconnected.
“You are no longer welcome at the store, you are no longer welcome within fifty feet of her. If I find out that you are within fifty feet of her, you will regret it. Don’t come knock on her door. Don’t walk past her house. Don’t talk to Danny to tell her something through him. Same goes for Nora. You are no longer welcome in her life.”
Murphy 2.0 narrowed his eyes. “You can’t tell me that I can’t see my own kid.”
“Is she your kid?” I challenged him.
“Yes!” he cried.
“Then why the f… haven’t you acted like it? Why is she telling me things that you and that horrid b*tch you call a wife have done to her over the years, and cries her f……’ eyes out after she does?”
Murphy 2.0 snapped his mouth shut.
“Out of everyone here, you know the only person that has shown her unconditional love? Her grandfather. What does that say about y’all?”

Ford (Trance and Viddy from Kevlar To My Vest), one of his two childhood best friends, along with Ashe Trammel, now Ashe Spurlock. He hadn’t seen them since his release, not for their lack of trying. He just… needed a break from Kilgore. Kilgore being where it’d all gone down—me breaking his hippocratic oath, and the law, as well as committing a mortal sin.

Miss ‘I don’t get tickets’ and ‘I won’t get pulled over’ replayed in his mind as he watched in fascination as she put her car in park, and placed her hands on the steering wheel.
And I knew the moment that Ford saw her he’d know that she was mine.
I mean, the t-shirt she was wearing said ‘Dixie Wardens MC’ on it in big bold print.
The Dixie Wardens MC was the motorcycle club that my father had been a part of since he’d gotten out of the service over twenty years ago now. Ashe and Ford, like me, had been Dixie Wardens kids all born around the same time.
That t-shirt was in red, with black lettering on it. Once a year, all of us got together and all of the families chose a color so that we could all tell each other apart when we went to the Big Dixie Wardens reunion that happened between all the clubs in the fall every year.
Red had always been the Caruso color.

The truth is finally revealed after he throws more hateful words at her. Her father had an affair, and got a woman pregnant (Melody’s sister). That’s how they met. Her mother, when she found out about the baby—Crockett—made it a condition. Her father could only return if he found out a way to get to keep her. Melody helped him find a way for her to come home when she was born.

She raised Crockett as her own, but she was never the same. She hated your father. And your father hated you because you’re the reason that—his words not any of ours—his wife hated him. When she passed away, he had no other reason to be nice to you any longer.”
“And none of you thought to tell me?” I asked, voice broken.
Danny’s face fell, but it was Nora who said, “We didn’t think that it should matter. You’re our sister. Half or not. You’re our sister.”
“We didn’t realize that it was that bad,” Danny promised. “We just…”
“Didn’t notice when your sister was treated like a piece of trash while the rest of you were treated like gold, you didn’t think it was odd how you got every single thing you ever wanted? How you were given every chance to succeed? While I, on the other hand, had to do everything in my power just to climb up the rungs of a ladder that would lead me out of hell”?

Her father then tries to maul her over, leaving her for dead in a ditch. After her recovery she goes on to win a bronze medal at the Olympics, she’s married and three months pregnant.

LLV has a propensity for stereotyping ‘curvy’, flat-chested women as her heroines. That seems to be her preferred body-type.

Minor attempt at interference by OW/no cheating.

Hot Broody Alpha Guy Warning!!

Seems like we’ve been waiting or this story forever.
Zack Caruso takes one look at Crockett and is in love but doesn’t feel like he’s good enough for her.

“I’ve spent the better part of six months trying to stay away from you,” he told me. “The first day that I got out of prison and saw you? I wanted to claim you right then and there.

“I decided that I didn’t care anymore,” he told me. “I decided that I would make you forget that I’m a bad person.”

Crockett is the awesome hamburger lady. Her life has been anything but great.

People sit around on their phones, but when I pull out a book, I’m the one that’s anti-social. -Zach to Crockett

I can not get enough of this series. Dark and crazy good. It’s a slow burn but once they get together sparks fly.

Laric is next he’s another one I’ve been waiting for.

Crockett Archer has had a crush on Zach Caruso since she first saw him in her store/restaurant in his prison uniform. She knew who he was and why he had spent time in prison, but she didn't care. The only issue is Zach doesn't seem to be interested in her at all.

Zach has had his eye on Crockett but a bad breakup has him staying away. He has gotten to know Crockett a bit but what he finds out about her past though has him livid. He tried to stay away but everything about Crockett has Zach wanting to keep her by his side. Issues swirl around them while they are getting closer it is only a matter of time before it implodes, can they handle what is coming?

This was amazing, Zach was pure alpha male who radiates off the page. Loved Crockett, I have been intrigued with her character since the first book and her story is even more amazing then I thought. Terrific story, really surprised me how this one went.

I feel like I've been waiting for this one for a long time, since Zach killed the POS he went to jail for. I really didn't consider what he did a bad thing and I wanted him to be happy again. His place with the Revenants seems to be that place, but Crockett more so. I liked that he knew she was a gen when he first saw her, even if I hated how he ignored her. But when crap started to go down with her family Zach was there for her, I liked how he pointed out to certain members how shitty she was treated and by them ignoring it, they were part of the problem. With the exception of Murphy, they all were shit!

I really liked how this one ended, loved that Crockett went after a dream, that she and Zach built a family and that Zach's family by blood and the new one by choice were there for them both.

I've been waiting for H's story since he was sent to the prison. I liked the chemistry between H and h. The only thing I didn't like was the reason behind h's treatment from her family members. It's not persuasive.

Would you rather have your family treated you like a piece of sh*t all your life to the point it makes you feel like an unwanted person or for a man you have a thing for to reject and constantly push you away because the ex-love-of-his-life hurt him deeply after he killed someone for her.

Well don’t worry folks, this book will save you from making a hard decision ‘cause you can have it all here.

Right, so in this story :
Heroine - Crockett is a 28 yo woman who is NOT virgin, mind you, because she had sex ONCE.
Her stepmom is a b*tch. Her dad is also a b*tch - just in male version. Her siblings are not much better.
Drama, OW drama (H’s ex), OTT family drama.
Hero (Zach) straight-out rejects h when she asks him to come with her to the wedding as her date.
And as a decent human being that he is, he feels jealous because someone agreed to be her date.
Then just for sh*ts and giggle, the stepmom comes to the wedding dressing like a bride 😂 Aaaaaand our heroine accidentally ate the “bad cookies” that the stepmom made for the bride and ended up vomiting in the toilet. YIKES.

I start skimming after 49% mark so I don’t remember much what happened after. Oh yeah they fall in love and everybody live happily after ever...I hope 😌

Amazon / Apple / Nook / Kobo

Crockett takes one look at the hot, broody-looking guy who just walked into her store/restaurant, and wants him. Unfortunately, he disappears soon after he walks in. Fortunately, he starts coming back every so often for supplies and meals. Will he ever really take a good look at her and want her the way she wants him?

Zach knows he's not good enough, or good for, the gorgeous woman who runs the store/restaurant where he gets his supplies and meals. So he tries his best to keep her at arm's length. That can't possibly last, though, and it doesn't, because Zach cannot resist her any longer. Now he just needs to tell her how he really feels - before it's too late...

Damn but I love this series! It gets better with every couple, and I fall in love with them even more each time. Zach's story was probably the one I've been anticipating the most since he was introduced, and boy did he not disappoint. His life before he went to prison was a good one. He was a doctor with a girlfriend, then bam, it was all taken away. Now he's out and he's just left with all these feelings of insecurity, feelings of not being good, even though he's so far from bad. I think he's my favorite guy so far and the way he and the biggest, most loving heroine, Crockett, fall in love is just...wow. I just love them and wish they would have many more stories written about just them.

There are so many aspects to this book that I want to talk about ... I don't know where to begin.

OVERVIEW -

I loved Crockett and Zach's story hard however it was not without its emotional highs. When I tell you family drama is a real issue here... I ain't lying. Man their journey was CRAZY. Super sweet, very frustrating... all the sexual tension you could ever need and of course some crazy hilarious happenings. What a journey.

Crockett is a sweet, loving WAY to caring human who gets taken advantage of and taken for granted in every damn way possible. Not only is she a neglected daughter and sister. She is essentially a doormat for their verbal abuse, malice threats and shitty uncalled for attitudes. When I tell you I seen red and thought hellish thoughts.. that's no joke. I was setting up for a fisty fight with my damn phone.
That woman is an angel who sacrificed everything for the one person who didn't abandon her. She is kind, caring and as selfless as it gets and I not only loved her character, I wanted to wrap her in a protective bubble and nut punch every single person who hurt her.

Zach is his father's son. Like a whole damn replica. He's been through a real rough time in the name of love and came out the other side with a big fat nothing to show for it. Well, to him anyway but those that love him know who he is and understand exactly what he sacrificed for a woman who wasn't worth shit. The man is everything you'd want in a partner... protective, loving and oh so sexy it really is a sin. He's very much the silent stoic type of guy who isn't the best at articulating his feelings at first which shows when he resists the pull for a whole minute with Crockett. But when he lets those walls down that man is the only thing you'd ever need at your back. Oh and let's just say he puts every person who hurt his woman in there place in the best ways and I was here for it.

Their journey was tough because not only did they have outside drama spewing from every direction but they also had that unsure tentative approach where it took a minute for Zach to get his head out of his ass and show up for his woman the way she deserved. He made up for his hesitation ten fold though.
These two had crazy chemistry but also a real sweet connection that felt so natural between them. They bickered and bantered, they flirted and got up to some real naughty shenanigans and they just seemed to get eachother in all the right ways.

Lani never fails to give us well rounded stories with great morish characters and hard hitting topics that really push emotional boundaries.
Gen Pop came in with a bang and didn't slow there. I absolutely loved getting to see old and very much loved faces like Cheyenne my OG. Cleo and Rue my sweethearts and of course Dixienormus our beloved golden oldie. Talk about an epic line up and that's not even going into out naughty boys from Souls and their crazy loving females who never fail to have me crying with laughter. It's safe to say there was not a dull moment in Gen Pop and I was living for it. This series as a whole its my favourite yet aside from free. I love the darker side to these characters but the fact the stories still hold that element of humour and sass along with all the saucy shenanigans makes it the perfect cocktail for me as a reader.

Now.... I really need Catori's story!!! I have a feeling she's going to drive Laric up the wall!!!I can't wait.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A book that I was so looking forward to !! Already because I loved Crockett in the previous books and then because Zach !!! Zach for whom my heart had broken in the book Nobody Knows and I wanted so much to know what he would become ... And I loved it !!
(As usual with LLV's books, I hadn't made the connection with his last name, so I was thrilled to see his parents (Cleo and Rue from Life to my Flight) and friends (Ford !!))
This might be one of my favorite books in the series because there's so much angst from the first few pages (CROCKETT'S FAMILY !! Every time I thought they were awful, they were doing something even more horrible three pages later !! My heart broke so much for Crockett every time) and I LOVED how Zach forces himself to stay away from her only to end up giving in and supporting her and love her exactly as she deserved !!
(even if personally, I would have preferred that she let go of her brother and sister who certainly weren't that horrible but who clearly didn't deserve her !)
The end was super cute with the Olympics and the surprise announcement =)
Again, I would have liked a more developed plot but it bothered me less than with the other books !
In short, one of my favorite books in this series that devours far too quickly ><
We are so loving this series, the characters are just totally awesome and a lot of fun. Fell instantly in love with Zach his brutishness was mesmerizing and his grumpiness we found sexy. Talk about tall dark and dangerous that had a sweet side, we loved it. The chemistry he had with Crockett was off the charts. We loved how protective her became of Crockett and how easily he fell in love with her in no time at all. This couple together were smoking hot and boy did they sizzle.
Crockett was a character that surprised me as she was so different from what I had imagined her to be but, in the end, we loved all things Crockett she was an amazing person. Talk about coming from a school of hard knocks, they just kept coming for her. Without giving away much of the story, the only thing to say is that Crockett had the family from hell and only Murphy was her saving grace.
The story was emotional, funny, sexy, hot, funny, and we loved that Crockett took a chance on the ex-con one look at Zach, and she was already falling head over heels on love. In the end, Zach was the best thing to grace her store, and he got the girl of his dreams who wanted nothing more for her to pursue her dreams. This couple were perfect for one another my heart broke for something's she endured but, what we loved about her the most is that she spilled a few tears then brush them off and got right back to life once again, and we loved how the bad stuff never really changed who she was on the inside she may have been a little beaten down but, never truly broken, and she turned out to be one of my favorite characters in this series and will become an unforgettable one.
I swear I'm addicted to this author's novels! They are just so easy to read and you never quite know what you're gonna get!
"He entered my every waking and sleeping thought with his piercing eyes and his sexy mouth."
Crockett Archer works hard at grandfather's diner and convenience store, while also keeping an eye on him. It's attraction at first sight from the moment Zach Caruso walks into the diner in his orange prison garb - on both sides. Unfortunately, for the next six months, he tries to keep away from her - even rebuffing her invitation to a family wedding as her date. However, when he gets a wakeup call that his feelings are deeper than he realises, he's done keeping his distance.
"I had a thing for her. I had a really big thing for her. She was what I thought about in the morning when I woke up, and the last thing I thought about when I went to bed."
I loved these two so much. They were hot and tender. Zach made me swoon with his protectiveness over Crockett. I loved how he stuck up for her and made her family aware of how badly they treated her. Crockett was made of stern stuff - she was resilient and caring - but also had a very soft centre. My heart hurt for the way she was mistreated, but I loved how Zach and his family adopted her into their fold. I really enjoyed the conclusion. Looking forward to the next book in this series!
I wanted Crockett’s story since the first book when we met her. And I was not disappointed 😊
Crockett had a terrible family. I mean okay her brother and sister wasn’t so bad but for the mere fact that they didn’t stand up for her at all, sucked big time.
Crockett Archer went to culinary school and now she is working in her grandfather’s store on the grill side of the store. Her grandfather is the only one who cares about her and is always there for her. Her mother died and her father remarried and for some reason seems like he hates her. So Crockett has had to go without a lot of things for a long time. But she survives. This is also where she meets Zach Caruso 😊
Zach is freshly out of prison and goes into Crockett’s store to get a burger. But he also gets infatuated with the girl behind the counter. However Zach doesn’t think that getting involved with her is a good idea so he walks away. But he cant seem to help himself especially when he sees how horrible her family is to her. So what does he do… He plays the HERO 😊 ♥
This one was such an amazing story. Had me a bit teary eyed. But also I loved the suspense and the drama surrounding Crockett’s family. And that ending was exactly what I wanted for her father and stepmother. I loved that we got to see some of the Dixie Warden’s. Whenever I come across the original MC in a story it makes me want to go back and re-read them all 😊 All in all awesome story. I can’t wait for Laric’s story 😊 ♥
Crockett Archer & Zach Caruso
I've probably said or thought this a 100 times, but my favorite thing about reading Lani's work is the fact that she continues to create story's for generations of her original characters and the secondary characters. It always makes me feel connected to the characters I'm reading about.
Zach is the son of Rue and Cleo (also if you go on her site you can get the family tree). Of course we've known Crockett since the beginning of this series.
I love that one of the first things Murphy said about her to Zach, was that she gets hangry. That just cracked me up. I would have never guessed in a million years that Crockett has had to endure everything she's been through in her life.
She is enamored with Zach from the beginning, and he with her, but neither of them act on it initially. When she finally gets the nerve to ask him to attend an event with her and he turns her down, I felt the heartbreak.
When they finally get their crap together and give things a go, things get pretty hot from there.
Besides the hotness of their encounters, I loved how they were honest with each other about their lives, and that Zach was there to have her back when it came to those that treated her badly.
Plus, we got to see more of Six. That chick could kick ass on her own.
I’ve been eager for Zach’s story since he appeared in Ford and Ashe’s story, Maybe Swearing Will Help. This title is the is the sixth addition to the Souls Chapel Revenants series, and I highly recommend reading the books in order.
Crockett is kind and compassionate, but it’s her downfall as her family walk all over her, abusing her at any opportunity. Despite their actions she’s resilient, strong, sassy and completely endearing.
Zach is a former doctor who has just been released from prison, he’s a stoic, protective, loving, and sexy alpha.
The banter between this pair is witty, flirtatious, and fun, but also antagonistic at times. The sexual tension between this pair oozes from the page. Much like all of Lani Lynn Vale’s books, there were plenty of laugh out loud moments, blended with drama in this sweet, slow burn romance.
I adored the cameos from previous characters that have appeared in various books and series’ but in particular Cleo and Rue, Zach’s parents who’s story was told in Life to My Flight.
I look forward to the next addition to this engaging and entertaining series.
Shoot-outs, affairs, tractor sex, fake a** exes, coyotes, wet & wild volleyball, lots of chest hair, a “stepmother from hell”, a lovable heroine, a dreamy Hero… This book had a lil’ bit of everything!
Crockett… Talk about a craptastic family this girl had, sans Murphy. The secrets, the lies, the inconsiderate actions, the loveless childhood… I can’t even imagine! It hurt my heart when she talked badly about herself/put herself down because I loved her. When she was flippin’ burgers, when she was running marathons (OMG, how did she do what she did in the epilogue?!), when she had barn sex, her girl bonding with Six… *Insert heart eye & heart emojis here* Her family definitely got what they deserved, thank gods. But admittedly, I’m surprised with how things ended with Rockett…
Zach… Man, the way this guy defended Crockett was total #swooncity! (FINALLY! I was thinking every single same question he asked her siblings!!) I truly want him to have all the things. (Minus any run-ins with Juniper in the future.) The pleasure of delivering all of the Souls Chapel babies (giving Crockett a bajillion of them of course), a wide variety of t-shirts saying who owns his heart, a buzz cutter, more visits with his extended Kilgore family… I really liked seeing this guy smile & as long as he makes Crockett happy, he’s golden in my eyes.
Juniper… So we finally found out what makes you tick… *cha-ching* Goodbye & good riddance to you, you Fakey McFakerson/stalker.
So excited for the next book in the series, Inmate of the Month, featuring Laric & Catori. Laric, I can’t wait to get more banter between you & Lynn & to see who your real d*ck parent is! Let the drama begin!!
P.S. I’m still having fun picturing the interactions that’ll happen in Bruno & Belle’s story! #ohthepossibilities
⭐⭐⭐Zach And Crockett⭐⭐⭐
Zach surprised me, yeah I knew he was a good guy before but the way he goes to bat for Crockett floored me. He's a little grumpy, gruff but he's also the sweetest guy ever, Crockett has won the lotto in family (not😒) I wanted to pack em up (except for her grandfather Murphy of course) and tie em up and give them a whooping for life. I'm so heated over how her family treats her but you know what? Zach made up for it, he treats her like a queen, Gen Pop is an amazing book, you will laugh a lot and smile with these characters. Great read author Lani Lynn Vale, you did it again 💫💫💫
Gen Pop is Book 6 of Lani Lynn Vale’s Souls Revenants MC and is Crockett and Zach’s love story. I am a huge fan of this series and the latest installment had me on the edge of my seat.
As with all of LLV’s books you get the full reading experience - hot, buff men in sweatpants, sassy and spirited females, intrigue, a little bit of drama and sexy naked times. Gen Pop did not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Crockett and Zach fall in love and get their sweet happily ever after.
Gen Pop gets the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!
Oh my goodness! This series just keeps getting better and better! Crockett and Zach are just amazing and they're even more amazing together. The chemistry was off the charts but Zach is not looking for a relationship after what happened that led him imprisoned.
However, seeing how Crockett's family treats her just makes him want to protect her. Don't even get me with her family. I was near murderous with how they treated her. And I loved that Zach is always there for her and he has no filter, so whenever he threatens them it felt so good. They don't deserve her. She's so strong and sweet and definitely softens Zach a little bit more.
I loved Zach and Crockett's story. And I loved that the previous characters are also present in their story. I can't wait for the next book in this series.
“Marry me,” I ordered. It was not a request, and she knew it. “When?” she rasped, a small smile gracing those perfect lips. No, ‘yes!’ no ‘oh my God!’ Just cool, calm, and collected Crockett. Even after everything that she’d just gone through.
Zach & Crockett's book was worth the wait, and the Spurlock & Caruso cameos were a fun addition too. I did find Crockett's family dynamic annoying at times in over shadowing the other story lines in the book, and at other points just plain ridiculous.
