Risking her life to save her homeland, Shabon, a princess from the Nine-Headed Dragon Archipelago, joins Souma's side in hopes of stopping an impending war. But with a fleet already en route to the hostile archipelago under his orders, Souma sets out to infiltrate the islands before they arrive. As he gathers information within the enemy territory, he finds that the real threat isn't their naval fleet, but a massive creature in their waters that defies all common sense...?!
What strategy will Souma come up with to handle these two encroaching threats?!
Find out in the thirteenth volume of the revolutionary administrative fantasy series!
Some skirmish that could have been dealt with in a chapter or two turns into volume 13 of this light novel. It is 15% less writing than the rest of the volumes and deals with the problem of "pirates" from the 9 headed Archipelago "union", that create conflict in the western ocean below the Friedonia Kingdom oceans. As I said, with derision and the naval fleet this problem could have been solved in volume 8, when Souma and his ministers discovered the problem of over-fishing and not respecting the boundaries coming from the 9 islands (at least 9 different interests, everybody seeking their personal benefit) and a general chaos there. It's silly to think that a total pushover like Souma, the Friedonia King, feels offended by Shabon's comparison of Roroa Amidonia and herself. If Souma cannot see how both territories suffer from the same circumstances and Roroa "gave herself" to Souma in exchange for the well being of Amidonia, then both the author and main character Souma are fools. Author writes that Roroa was a capable woman (in economics, commerce and diplomacy) while Lady Shabon has no skills. But this is highly utilitarian and exploitative point of view to take. Because, then it means that Souma got "offended" because Lady Shabon has no skills that he can exploit and take advantage of. If Roroa was really courageous and daring as the prime minister described, she would have stopped the war, the invasion and her dad from all of the conflict. Because she did not, it caused the Amidonian Kingdom to be no more. Then the actual conflict with the Godzilla like monster was a total let down. Again, if they would have taken care of it in volume 8, then there wouldn't have been any problems. The volumes are getting smaller, the story is so flat that it is starting to turn back. I don't think I can read any more volumes... 3
Souma is visited by a foreign princess. After her proposal, well after her second attempt at her proposal, Souma is going to the 9 Headed Archipelago Union. But what seems to be another War might be something else. He is going to battle a Kaiju. The people of the Archipelago Union are very independent. They really have a hard time following one leader or one concept. Souma is running through a slippery slope but he has good ideas and wishes for the best of both nations.
This book was amazing the plot twists I really thought soma was going to really go to war with nine dragon region but to then team up with them take down the monster than form an Alliance and start to make the worlds largest sea fleet also while making maritime laws to protect trade routes looking forward to the next book in the series
We're finally going to the often mentionned Nine-Headed-Dragon Islands! Battles and action are usually not the best point of this author, but you can just *feel* how much fun he had writing a kaiju battle at sea. Not always the best executed story on some points, but definitely one I had the most pleasure reading in this series.
King Souma's brain is in gear as he comes up with an elaborate plan involving sea going nations. But first an enormous monster must be dealt with. I like the action, humor, political intrigue, and romance. I look forward to the next book.
It's more of what I like about this series. There's not a whole lot of depth but when you're looking for the continued adventure of king Souma your sure to have a fun ride.
One of the better parts of a good series. We get a bit if research, a bit of plotting and a large naval battle. I really enjoyed reading the book and looking forward to the next part.
This was a quick read. There was a lot of action in this one as well as political intrigue of course thrown in. I enjoyed the interactions of the characters and how they solved their problems. I am enjoying this series.
