Starting a new school is never easy, especially when you’re Paige Gray. Paige is afraid that she won’t fit in; she’s clumsy to the core and a worry wart to boot. Thankfully the school has a running club. Running is the one thing that Paige excels in. She wants to be the best at it but is she good enough to win the athletic trials for a place at the prestigious Southern Athletics Competition? Can Paige overcome her bumbling ways to build friendships and to prove her worth?
I was very kindly sent this book by the author herself in exchange for an honest review. I read this with my girls a little bit each night and I think it was perfect for my nearly 10 year old but my 7 year old was a bit too young and it didn’t hold her attention just as much. We loved reading about Paige’s journey into secondary school, making new friends and finding her passion. It had great talking points around the topic of bullies and opened up lots of chat. I think this is the perfect book to read for an older child ready to make the transition to secondary school. We had a few giggles and it really gave me a few reminders of the awkwardness we experience at that stage in our school life.
Loved this story - as usual with Natalie Sammons the characters shine out - fun to read for children 9 and up - on their own or with an adult- to give a great insight into the challenges of secondary school from a young girls perspective.
Told with humour and positivity, with a really satisfying ending that left me smiling and wanting to know what happens next in the life of Paige and her friends...
Great read for all but especially appreciated by grandchild starting secondary school. All about an individual learning about her own strengths and dealing with new and challenging situations.
