'Deliciously silly, with hilarious catchphrases… a great cheer-up book' The Guardian'HILARIOUS! Proper laughs!' Pamela Butchart______________________________A laugh-out-loud young fiction series from bestselling author Joanna Nadin, perfect for fans of Horrid Henry.According to head teacher Mrs Bottomley-Blunt, 4B is the WORST CLASS IN THE WORLD. She says school is not about footling or fiddle-faddling or FUN. It is about LEARNING and it is high time 4B tried harder to EXCEL at it.But Stanley and Manjit didn't LITERALLY mean to flood the toilets when they should have been monitoring the playground. And they definitely didn't LITERALLY mean to bring a penguin home from the zoo on their school trip. These things just happened even though they had a FOOLPROOF plan to get away with them.
Joanna Nadin is an English author of juvenile fiction best known for the Rachel Riley series of teenage novels Based on Nadin's own childhood, the series follows the comedic narration of a 13-year-old girl.

As a child I buried myself in books both at home in Essex and at my grandparents’ houses in Cornwall, where I spent a large part of my time, and where many of my stories are now set. Books and later films were an escape not just from where I was but who I was, which, as I saw it, was pretty much a geek. They gave me the freedom to become someone else, from George in the Famous Five to Velvet Brown winning the Grand National to Baby dancing the Chachacha with Johnny Castle.
This is a brilliant and funny children’s audiobook. The class of 4B is the worst class in the world. The class always get in trouble at break time, but when the head teacher says that class 4B get to be playground monitors for the next week, can the class behave enough to actually do a good job?
I have never read or listened to any of The Worst Class in the World books before but I have enjoyed listening to this audio book so much! The story begins with a brief introduction to some of the characters and class of 4B are and why they are apparently, the worst class in the world. The story is narrated by one of the children in the class, Stanley, and we soon find out just how terrible the class is, with a group of characters who end up being very funny and silly when put in various situations. The story is split into two separate adventures, one about 4B being playground monitors and the other about a trip to the zoo.
The first story shows class 4B who usually are the ones reported for misbehaving in the playground, getting the chance to become playground monitors themselves for the next week. The way the class ends up arguing over who goes first, and later how they try to stay out of trouble is so funny. I love Stanley’s narration which is perfect in explaining what happens with various things being repeated over and over, like the name and description of the head teacher or certain students, which actually make it sound so funny and silly!
Both adventures of class 4B are good, and they both had me laughing out loud in certain places. The second story where the class are on a trip to the zoo was especially funny and I love what happens latter with a penguin and the school bus. The audiobook is just under an hour long and the after the two adventures of 4B as playground monitors and at the zoo, there are a further three chapters. One is Mrs Bottomley-Blunt’s school rules, the second chapter is also more of her school rules (there are a lot of them), and the third is a short fun quiz to see if you could be in the worst class in the world.
What made me enjoy this audio book so much is the narration by Sam Newton who does such a brilliant job of conveying all the silliness and the different characters in the book. The conversations between the different characters, as well as Stanley’s narration of what is happening wouldn’t have been so funny if it hadn’t been for the brilliant narrator and the many different voices that he put on. Overall I have really enjoyed this short audiobook and it’s made me keen to find out more books in the series. I’m not sure why it took me so long to listen to this book (I had it saved on my device for some time) but I’m definitely a fan of the series now and would love to read or hear more! 🙂 -Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for a free copy.
I thought this was a very funny, brilliantly written book.
At the beginning when they were going through the children in the class and a description of them I could definitely remember some people in my classes at primary school that were just like that! This definitely helps to imagine the child as you are reading the book (or listening too it like I did) as you can easily identify with the people in the book.
It is the kind of funny ,silly book that children just love.... who doesn't love the image of children trying to hide a penguin after a trip to a zoo ! For the audiobook it was very easy to listen to and easy for young listens to follow it through the story and the chapters. I also loved the accents for the different children so you could tell which one was talking. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone with young children who enjoy daft stories.
This is audio book is really good fun for primary aged children, I would say of aged 8 and under.
It is full of the innocent naughtiness that I remember enjoying as a child. There are lots of overflowing toilets and bossy teachers, and the narration captures all of this beautifully. The narrator is very skillful as they manage to relay the story without being preachy or patronising, but simply relaying the different voices with their very different nuances very successfully.
The writing is uncomplicated and clear, using language that should work with it's target audience.I think children will love the houmor.
I think children would love this audio book, and it is good enough to not annoy the adults in their company, infact I suspect those adults would secretly enjoy it!
The book is well written, easy to follow and the illustrations are perfect they add so much extra to the story and really bring the book to life.
I loved the mix of characters and all the naughty things that they got up too and the amount of trouble they caused – whether internationally or by accident as it was in most of the cases!
It is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended and a fun read – loved it!!
A fun book which Lower Key Stage 2 and year 2 would enjoy. It made me smile with the rules and the teacher that had so many reasons to leave the profession and go on to daredevil jobs he was no doubt incapable of. From the hilarious trip to the zoo and wands down the loo it is a laugh out loud book that children will enjoy. I was able to read it thanks to Netgallery.
