An ambitious woman. A dysfunctional family. A workplace sexual assault. Will Sophia overcome the odds or will she be broken?

Sophia is a hardnose, no-nonsense career woman. She doesn’t have time for the idiots in her life: her work colleagues, her parents, her brother – especially her stupid brother. She needs to escape.

When she is promised a coveted promotion at work, her world is about to open up, and it is her chance to finally escape the family who have long held her back. But there’s no such thing as a free lunch and her boss knew just how she can repay him.

At a conference. In his hotel room. Alone.

Pushed around by the firm to which she has dedicated her working life and encumbered by her brother, Sophia’s journey challenges her to reconnect with those around her and tests her all-too-human limits.

I am an author with a passion for stories about the human spirit overcoming adversity. BROKEN is my new novel, written during weekends, after work, during family holidays, and generally whenever I had a bit of time and was not sleeping.

I have been lucky to work around the world for my day job. However no matter where I am, I still call Australia home, having migrated to Sydney when I was a toddler with my six brothers and sisters.

When not ‘doing time’ behind my office desk, I enjoy travelling, films, swimming, fitness, and tennis – having coached my children when they were younger.

I hope you have a chance to check out BROKEN. And if you have, please let me know what you think about it. Have a great day.

Broken is a novel that questions the role of women, familial expectations and personal resilience in a deeply engaging read. Sophia, the protagonist, is described as a 'no-nonsense' woman who strives to climb the corporate ladder. However, her subjection to a toxic work and family environment hinders her drive and progress. This book is a trajectory to the raw and conspicuous experiences of millions of women who have confronted gender-based discrimination and violence.

The plot was compelling yet provocative. I often found myself shocked reading about Sophia's harsh predicaments. The characters each had their own unique personality which complemented the story well. Overall, Broken was an astonishingly captivating read that powerfully reverberated modern themes that require the attention of society.

Loved his writing style! SPOILERS!!!!!!!!

I read this book since it was suggested for book club. It wasn't the book the group chose but I saw it was free on kindle unlimited so I read it when I was finished with the other one.

I read conflicting reviews so I decided to see for myself.

First of all this was 1000 times better than the book club's choice.

I was so engrossed in the story. It was very well written and thought out.

I did see a ridiculous review stating that the R word was used and according to that ridiculous human they didn't even read the book, in my opinion that review shouldn't even be allowed as by that person's own admission they don't even know anything about the book. To that person I say "context is everything and you should actually read the book" The word is not just thrown around.

(SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)The word is used by the father who left his family because of his son's limitations, by her POS boss to mock her, and only used in a real sense. We all live in reality, and here in reality those situations of horrible people or even people caught up in the struggle of having to change everything about their life for someone else that they will always be bound to may use that word or think it in a moment of frustration and then regret it. I myself hate the word but it needed to be included in this storyline to make it real. And this book made this life of Sophia's seem so very real.

Her dad broke my heart more than I expected. When he went over to Lewis's job to defend his "baby boy" I found myself getting attached and thinking we would get an amazing redemption story for him as well. Lewis was so well written and I loved all of his solutions to problems that showed he is smarter than anyone gives him credit for. After the incident with his dad I was afraid he would freeze up in that final climax of the story and the end would be one final tragedy.

This book is part tragedy part redemption story. I love how Lewis and Sophia's relationship evolves. I also love that this story was so well written I couldn't guess what would happen a lot of the time, which made the entirety of this writing all the more satisfying.

the book was great, a little slow moving. so slow that the author left off the last chapter, I read the whole book waiting to see the ending, and it wasn't there, very frustrating, after watching the main character struggle her way thru life, it would have been nice to have some closure and a happy ending. this is why we read, to bring enjoyment, at the end of this book, I said WTF.

Could be true

The beginning half of the story was slow. But the second half made up for it. Interesting storyline. Two threads...workplace sexual abuse and family struggles with autism and death.

A very strong read about willpower, strength, hopes, struggles, and emotion. A family situation that many face and many don't understand or know about what it might be like in these shoes.

Worth reading

Good book worth reading. All the other books out there nowadays are some form of detective whodunnit book. This is welcome breath of fresh air.

A Book by a Male Author. Sophie is a ambitious woman in a dysfunctional family. She is a no nonsense career women with no time in her life for idiots. Sophie had some harsh people to deal with. I enjoyed the character of Lewis. He is smarter than people give him credit for. Well worth the read.

Broken is a story about an ambitious woman, Sophia, trying to climb the corporate ladder so she can finally move out of the family home and not have to deal with her autistic brother and her parents who, she feels, have neglected her in favour of her brother. But when she turns down her boss’ sexual advances, she finds herself pitted up against the corporate juggernaut, forcing her to redevelop relationships with those around her.

Broken has good writing, compelling characters and a well thought out plot. I read the book in less than 3 days, repeatedly finding myself turning page after page as I just needed to know what happened at the end.
