Do monsters deserve love? I wish...

I learned the hard way that my words have the power to become reality, and it became something I only use in my darkest moments of desperation. It made me a monster, an abomination, which was why I kept to myself. If I didn’t talk to anyone, I couldn’t hurt them, right?

Then he came into my life.

Embry was my opposite in every way, the light to my darkness. From the moment we met, he pushed the nightmares away, seeing the person beneath. The panic, the fear, the pain.

Is it possible I’m not the monster I’ve always thought I was?

With secrets and surprises lurking behind every shadow, my world was not meant for Embry’s sunshine, but I’m selfish enough to want it anyway.

Will my selfishness cost him his life or will it save mine?

This is a Paranormal MM Romance, intended for readers 18 and up. Triggers include abuse, neglect, and violence.

I felt a connection to Caden from the prologue alone and it only grew stronger for him as we learn bits of his past. My heart ached for him. In comes Embry, and I swooned so freaking hard! Their relationship is so sweet it hurts my teeth, despite the darker elements of the story. The story quickly ramped up with paranormal elements that kept me wholly interested in what was going to happen. It ended on a doozy of a cliffhanger so I'm feeling rather frantic for book two!

Interesting

This is a very interesting story and I def wanted to love it but there was something missing. I didn't really feelthe connection b/w the 2Mc's. For someone who is so reliant on someone else to be his anchor and light I thought I'd feel a stronger connection b/w the two. There was also some things I just didn't understand. At the beginning no one pays and attention to Vade as he's a loner but then girls are asking him out and groping him? Another part is where Cade hates the dark and yet at one point the darkness settled/calmed him? And I'm sorry if you have guys following you and trying to kidnap you would you really let your boufriend go work for crap pay as a barista when you have money?
And why would you tell someone you favetimed once your secrets or take photos of your magic.
Overall interesting concept but I can take it or leave it for the next book in the series.

Utterly absorbed

Fantastic start to a new series.
Set in the future after a massive war and in a fictional city, Caden struggles to keep his growing powers under control fearing that he is the monster his father claimed.
Although both MC's are young, they are technically adults and therefore there are adult situations. Caden comes from a frankly horrible home where he was abused and some of that is on page or discussed.
Embry was a perfect balance to Cade. Additional characters such as Cade's aunt, Kora, and Ian and Chase added extra layers to the story preventing it being stuck on Cade and Embry's growing relationship or Cade's ptsd and anxiety.
That cliffhanger though!

This one pulled me in from the very first words. I fell in love with Caden and his story and the pieces of him that he wrapped tightly around himself and saw as unlovable. Enter Embry and his smiles and way of bringing lightness to Caden’s dark. They provide a sort of balance to one another. It isn’t long before they are friends and reaching for the possibility of more. Caden’s going to have to open up about his past and the secrets he’s hiding though and learn to trust and lean on others... Even more than just Embry. After what these two go through together and the ending, I’m dying for the second part of this duet!!

I absolutely fell in love with this story!
MM, senior year High School, PNR, Demigods, special powers and great world building.

Caden and Embry are freaking adorable together. Embry is super protective and jealous towards Caden, he just wants to see him happy. He is the light to Cade’s darkness.
Caden is a loner, his powers scare him and leave him not wanting to interact with people and hurt them. He is also possessive and protective of Embry.

Caden’s past is full of trauma and heartache and causes panic attacks. He has PTSD and nightmares die to his past but Embry is able help him through his panic attacks and with telling his Aunt.

I’m super excited for book 2.

This story is very unique. Its about Caden and Embry and they meet each other in school. Caden is very shy and has a tragic past and Embry is a breath of fresh air. I feel that this first book did alot of world building and then at the end it was like wow, thats happening? It definitley banged out at the end. I cant wait to find out about what Caden truly is capable of and who are the good guys and bad guys. I will be excited to see where this one goes.

Caden's journey is to find himself is truly heartbreaking and something no one should ever have to endear. Thankfully, Embry is right there to help pull him from the shadows and his dark past to help him grow into the person he's becoming. The first book in their journey is a bit slow in build-up, but necessary for us to understand what Caden has been through. I can't wait to see what awaits them and their new friends.

Wow 🤩

I really loved the uniqueness of this story
Caden struggled so much with accepting himself for being gay and for his powers.
He thought he was a monster but then embry comes along and shows him that he isn’t a monster that he is perfect the way he is.
And holy shit that ending!! I can’t wait for the next book

Brilliant

I really enjoyed the build up of the storyline and how the MC's relationship developed naturally. The paranormal thread woven through the story gradually emerged, taking a more central role as the story progressed. The ending has me desperate to dive into the next book, it can't come soon enough.

this story is amazing. Caden story is heartbreaking and redeeming. Embry comes in and things to heat up. There is a paranormal aspect and it makes this story even better. This story is based in the future which just makes it so much better.
