War at the Ice-Cream Store was another fabulous storybook by Cheryl DaVeiga and Dave Gibson. This book features characters at the ice cream store with Bully Vanilli who is the most popular flavour of ice cream. He loves to be a big bully and rule the Ice-cream roost, he acts like the King of the store and the best in the world. His favorite target though is poor Mustachio Pistachio, he is the least favorite flavour of ice cream and is always the target of King Bully Vanilli. What happens though when all the other flavours and toppings of ice cream decide enough is enough and revolt again the Vanilla ice cream? Soon he will realize that without the others, he is just another plain ice-cream flavour and that he needs to be nice to others to be happy and that being a bully is not the way to be, but being a friend indeed is the way to go. I loved this book as it was a very cute read and the humour in this one was very quick-witted and used lots of ice-cream/desert-related puns. War at the Ice-Cream Store was a very good picture book read and suitable for ages 3-6 years old.

War at the Ice Cream Store Mustachio Pistachio vs Bully Vanilli (Frank Tl Frogg and Friends) by Cheryl DaVeiga and Dave Gibson is a fun, funny story that takes place in an ice cream story with a whole lot of flavors of ice cream. The story is kinda silly as each of the ice cream flavors communicate with each other. Each flavor got along well except Bulli Vanilli because he thinks he’s the best of them and he is so rude and picks on Mustachio Pistachio really a lot. The ice cream flavors soon gets tired of hearing Bulli Vanilli always being negative and bullying everyone else, especially their friend Mustachio Pistachio so they decide to teach him a lesson and give Bulli Vanilli a taste of his own actions.

This is a very cute story and very clever way of teaching children valuable lessons. I love the story and all of the cute ice cream flavors. We need books to teach children the consequences of bullying and that it is do wrong and hurtful to others. My only problem with this story is, I’m not so sure it is right teaching kids to bully someone who is bullying others. It’s like trying to teach a wrong with a wrong. I would read the book to children but stress it is not the right thing to do to Bully anyone for any reason. There is also an interactive multimedia version, which includeds videos that I think would be wonderful. I didn’t get to read it but strongly encourage you to read this copy of the book. This book would be great anywhere kids will be, whether it be a classroom, daycare or the many places our kids are.

There are three illustrators with this book. Sarah Krogman, Dave Gibson and Jay Petsko really do a fabulous job with the illustrations. The book cover is awesome and the characters as well as every picture is so vividly beautiful that children everywhere will be wanting to read this book when they see it. The inside, each page tells the story so wonderfully. This really is a beautiful book.

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

War at the Ice Cream Store delighted me. I can't wait to read it with my grandchildren.

The story revolves around Bully Vanilli picking on Mustachio Pistachio when the ice cream store is closed. None of Mustachio's friends are brave enough to stand up to the bully alone. But, when they team up, they teach the bully what it's like to be on the receiving end of the terror.

I love the inclusion and messages in this story. Yes, it's meant for young children but everyone needs reminding of these lessons.

The illustrations by Sarah Krogman, Dave Gibson, and Jay Petsko are vibrant and help accentuate the moral of the story.

I can't wait to read more books in this series. I highly recommend War at the Ice Cream Store to anyone that reads with children. A copy should be in every home, daycare, and school library.

This is such a fun and delightful book to read. I know my niece will really enjoy this story. She is 5 and learning to read. There are not many large words which is great. So, she will have an easier time reading this book.

All the rhyming and puns were great. The illustrations really came alive as well. Yet, this book is not just a fun one but helps to teach a valuable lesson to not be a bully. One that everyone can really learn from not just children. We may be all different but together we can be friends. War at the Ice Cream Store is a sweet treat of a read!

I...am so confused. The big message for young kids on how to handle a bully is to have several people beat up the bully to the point of being broken? I had to double check that they weren't' making this as a comedic picture book that was actually aimed at adults. But nope, it's for kids.

Although War at the Ice Cream Store: Mustachio Pistachio vs Bully Vanilli is designed for kids, I can unabashedly say I enjoyed it tremendously! It’s just so much fun. There are creative and tasty characters with amusing names, colorful illustrations, and a meaningful message of acceptance and kindness. What’s not to love.

Frank (a lucky frog) narrates this charming tale that takes place at a Main Street ice cream store called The Frozen Frogg. King Bully Vanilli is a cold-hearted bully, targeting poor little Mustachio Pistachio. But the other frozen snacks, toppings, and ice cream accessories take a stand, refusing to back down until Bully learns his lesson!

I love the light-hearted but meaningful message that deals with the hurtful act of bullying. Frank and his friends put on quite a show in this tale and sprinkled it with wit and puns. And the interactive video book and website treats are cool added bonuses.

Funny, punny, and a little bit nutty, this book is a win!

The first book in this children’s picture book series, covers a classic children’s book theme, bullying. Which I think is classic for a reason. It’s so important to teach young minds how you should treat others, and not treat others, from an early age. The plotline is good, with all the flavours and condiments rallying together to defend poor Mustachio Pistachio from Bully Vanilli (love the names for all the characters in these books). Loved all the puns, especially the shoutout to us lactose intolerant people 😎 Great to see the fun facts at the end! Most of the kids I’ve read to over my years as a teacher, are highly interested in hearing about real facts concerning the story. Perfect time to ask questions, and get young minds more engaged.

War at the Ice Cream Store Offers Great Messages to Young Readers. The authors use talking ice cream and sundae/dessert toppings and ingredients to present some serious messages about bullying--and empathy. As the various ice cream store "residents" endure long-term bullying from Bully Vanilli--they realize that they are stronger together in dealing with his abusive tactics. War at the Ice Cream Store is a fun book that uses unique characters and a fantasy setting to help children understand and learn to cope with some real-world issues.

War at the Ice Cream Store Serves Up Fun Word Play and Illustrations. It is difficult for even adults to hold back smiles at some of the "punny" wordplays at play in the book. From the character names to the dialogue and action scenes--the authors bring a lot to each page. The illustrations fit each character perfectly--and fill the pages with interest for young readers.

Would I Recommend War at the Ice Cream Store? This story is a unique way to open the door to discuss bullying with children. As the characters stand up to their bully--it is the perfect introduction to real-world, classroom/playground bullies and coping methods. I love children's books that are also fun for grown-ups to read! I would recommend it to families with younger elementary-aged students--or for classroom or community storytimes. I look forward to sharing more from this series as it grows!

I received a copy of this book from the author or publisher for use in a blog review. All opinions are my own.

The War at the Ice Cream Store is a clever book with a very important message for children.

Bulli Vanilli ice cream can be quite a bully with the other flavours in the ice cream store, especially with Mustachio Pistachio (who unfortunately does not seem to be the most popular flavour in the store). Bulli Vanilli is actually quite mean and my heart was a bit sore for the other flavours. But what happens when others stand up to Bulli Vanilli? And try to teach this bully that it isn’t nice to treat others that way, we are each special and unique in our own way.

This is an adorable, well written, catchy book for children that teaches a very important lesson. Bulli Vanilli doesn’t realize how hurtful his comments are and it isn’t until the others teach Bulli Vanilli that words hurt, does it click that what Bulli was doing was wrong. Every person (and in this case dessert) brings something special to the world and when we include and respect everyone, the world is a better place.

We loved the way the book was written, it was fun and catchy which helps to gain the interest of young children and makes it easier for them to understand this important message. The illustrations were fun and really help to bring the story to life. It is a definite must read book that your child will love to read over and over.

War at the Ice Cream Store was a cute play on words, with some good themes, and a quirky cast of characters.

I loved the title of this book (hence the reason I read it) and it did have a cute ice cream war filled with sugar clones, storm scoopers, and pieces of reese’s. I also liked the imaginative character renditions and the authors creative storyline. It was interesting and something I can see kids liking for the farfetchedness found within The Frozen Frogg. The book also points you to a website with more character interactions, songs, and a flip book which I thought was a nice touch.

Concerns

I think the idea behind this book was very much needed, however, it was not necessarily executed in an easy-to-understand way. The writing is not something most younger kids would be able to pronounce/read easily (and at times the font added to that). Also, while I am an avid reader of all things illustrated it felt like some of the images in this book were from clip art and pasted in. Not a cohesive look to the pages.

Overall, I give this book 3.5 stars out of 5. For the cute puns, creative storyline, and the theme of the story.

I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you Cheryl DaVeiga and iRead Book Tours. I'm excited to be a part of this tour.

This is the third book of this series I have read and I continue to be impressed with the illustrations and colorful pages contained within this book! The characters are well developed and the premise of using ice cream flavors to teach children the importance of not being a bully. Children also learn how teaming up with their friends to counteract the bully's behavior is a positive way to respond. I truly enjoyed how the book used rhymes and puns to make their point. This book also teaches the empathy and how important it is when supporting a friend through this experience.

As with my previous review, the accompanying workbook is also a lot of fun and engaging. It offers a mix of coloring, puzzles, and games. I could see this book being a regular part of your young readers life because it’s aesthetically pleasing with elements that stick with you. I’m not sure I’m going to be able to let this one go and I look forward to reading more!

Wow, this was an absolutely wonderful book! I think I enjoyed reading it just as much as my kids, and it is definitely one that we can read over and over and continue to enjoy! We are big fans of ice cream in this house, and the wonderfully fun character names had us laughing!

Not only was this book full of fun that had us giggling and soaking in the cute images, it also had a great message that every child should read. There is a bullying storyline that really shows children the hurtful nature of it. I really liked how the other ice cream friends/flavors come to the rescue and stand up for Mustachio Pistachio when King Bully Vanilli targets him!

The story is filled with such interesting character names that coincide with ice cream flavors, and the illustrations brought them to life! They were bright, full of color and done wonderfully!

Overall, this is an absolutely wonderful children's story! There is even an interactive video book and a website that helps to bring the whole story to life!

This is such a fun book! Kids will enjoy seeing the colorful illustrations of the different characters that are actually ice cream flavors, with amusing and crazy names. Mustachio Pistachio and Bully Vanilli are both residents at the Frozen Frogg Ice Cream Store, but they certainly aren't friends. In fact, Bully isn't a friend to any of the others at the store because he constantly brags about being the most popular, and he is especially mean to Mustachio. A war erupts at the ice cream store, and Bully Vanilli is taught a valuable lesson after he "gets licked".

War at the Ice Cream Store: Mustachio Pistachio vs Bully Vanilli is a great way to teach about kindness and acceptance, and it offers parents a chance to discuss bullying with their children. This is the first book with Frank TL "The Lucky" Frogg and I look forward to the other life lessons he has in store!

I received a copy of this book from the authors via iRead Book Tours. There was no obligation for a favorable review. These are my own opinions.

This is a great book on "bullying" and "working together" for pre-school age children
Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2021
Train your toddler/pre-schooler about the unpopular "bully" with this comical children's story, War at the Ice Cream Store. This is a new approach to teach a child from a very young age that bullying is a bad thing and working together in kindness is a good thing.
The book is very colorfully illustrated by Dave Gibson, Sarah Krogman, and Jay Petsko. The cartoon characters are amusingly animated on each page, with a variety of bright colors. it is sure to capture each very young child's attention.
It is a little silly, but along with the book is a set of stickers the child can stick on himself/herself to portray one of the characters.
There is also a website address children can go to with music and puppets portraying the adventures.
This is a terrific book for Summer Reading Programs.

War at the Ice Cream Store: Mustachio Pistachio vs Bully Vanilli. This adorable children’s book teaches a very valuable lesson about bullying.

Bully Vanilli was the vanilla ice cream in The Frozen Frogg ice cream store. He was the most popular ice cream flavor and didn’t let anyone forget about it. He bragged about himself non-stop. He started bullying Mustachio Pistachio because he was the least-popular flavor.
One night he pushed Mustachio Pistachio out of the freezer and onto the ground to melt. The other ice cream flavors, cones, and sprinkles agreed to stop working with vanilla and soon he was all alone.

When he started feeling lonely he realized how it felt to be bullied. But, would he really change? Would the lesson cause Bully Vanilli to change his ways? Your children will understand this book and be able to realize that bullying hurts.
I was provided with a copy of the book. This is my honest review.

I chose to read this book after receiving a free copy. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

What an awesome book! War at the Ice Cream Store uses ice cream personified to teach about bullying. Bully Vanilli is the best selling ice cream, and he is always bullying Mustachio Pistachio who is the slowest seller. All of the other ice creams and toppings get behind Mustachio Pistachio, and they teach Bully Vanilli that they are all needed, or he is just plain old vanilla. He even learns to be nice to Mustachio Pistachio.

The illustrations are adorable and have vibrant colors. The text is fun to read, especially during the war. My two favorite lines: “The Reeses loaded their pieces,” and “The M&Ms started rapping.” Reading the book is just the beginning of the fun. The website FrankTLFroggandfriends.com has a lot more, even a narrated multimedia version!

I definitely recommend War at the Ice Cream Store, and I can’t wait to read with to my grandchildren.

⭐️BOOK REVIEW⭐️

This book was so great! The illustrations are cute, and with the rhymes and puns, the story is entertaining for both children and adults. It becomes handy if you’re trying to teach a child to read or learn to rhyme words particularly. It also teaches an important lesson about bullying, and that there’s power in numbers. No matter how scary, if someone is bullying, they can be overcome by numbers of people… for many are greater than one.

My 5 year old niece’s review:

“This book is 300 and a half stars!” 😂

Therefore, between the two of us, I’m rating this book a:

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 stars!

It also came with an activity book that includes activities like writing topics and tools, coloring, mazes, connect the dots, etc… so the reader can read and learn while playing at the same time!😄👍

And if that’s not enough, there’s a song video too!

You can buy the book through Amazon or BookBub! 🛍️

These two books are fun, rhyming picture books about ice cream that comes to life in the ice cream store!

In Mustachio Pistachio vs. Bully Vanilli, the vanilla ice cream is a bully because so many people love him. He particularly bullies the pistachio ice cream because he is the least favourite flavour. All of the ice cream flavors and toppings have to work together to defeat the bully.

In Rocky Road vs. The Sundae Storm, there is a storm inside the ice cream store, preventing anyone from getting ice cream on a hot summer day. The ice cream flavors have to figure out how to stop the storm so the store can reopen.

Both of these books made me laugh out loud. I think kids and their parents will love them! They’re both available now!

War at the Ice Cream: Mustachio Pistachio vs. Bully Vanilli and Rocky Road vs. The Sundae Storm are fun picture books!

War at the Ice Cream Story by Cheryl DaVeiga and Dave Gibson, Illustrated by Sarah Krogman, Dave Gibson, and Jay Petsko
Every night after the ice cream store closes, Bully Vanilli bullies all the other ice creams and toppings - especially Mustachio Pistachio. Bully Vanilli is the most popular flavor, and Mustachio Pistachio never gets chosen. One night, the other ice creams decide they've taken enough of Bully Vanilli's abuse, and there ensues a war of ice creams. This is such a silly children's book. This book is about standing up to bullies, even if they're bullying someone else.

If you want more Mustachio Pistachio and Bully Vanilli, there's an accompanying Activity Book as well! This was a Biff Bam Booza book that included a QR code where you can find a singalong song. Thank you so much to iReadBookTours and Cheryl DaVeiga for my copy!

Will the bully win in the end?? I mean, of course not. And even though it was expected, it’s always nice to see (despite the fact that I do agree pistachio is a disgusting flavor). Needless to say, this is another good children’s book that offers another lesson in kindness and compassion. Stories such as these are a wonderful way for teaching little ones how to be their best selves….mustache or not.

In the ice cream ring, our contestants are: Mustachio Pistachio vs. Bully Vanilli.

Vanilli thought he was the most popular ice cream of all. Everyone just loved the taste of him. Pistachio, however, was the loneliest flavor of all. In fact, Pistachio would often get bullied by Vanilli.

“You’re green and nutty. Who would want to order you anyway?”

Then we get a SPLAT and a MELT. Uh-oh, we got a war going on.

This was an adorable and funny story. The illustrations were plain, simple, and colorful. I especially liked the interactive text and the clever puns.

“The milkshake declared: this is the last straw!”

It goes to show that Vanilli without the toppings was just plain vanilla. Guess, in the end, he got licked.

A fun and clever read! It’s a good teaching tool about bully intolerance and working together.

What a funny and cute way to approach the topic of bullying and especially how it affects everyone. Some major back talk was going on between Vanilli and Mustachio Pistachio. Bully Vanilli just wouldn't back off and some of the other flavors had had enough. Not only them but the toppings too!

All the frozen treats had something to add and chaos assumed until Vanilli learned his lesson. I read this with my 10 year old son and the story, rhyming, puns, and fun illustrations gave us both a chuckle. This was a very inventive way to teach a child that bullying is wrong.

I read this one with my 10 year old, just like Rocket Red and The Prickly Problem. This was her favorite by far, and while she thoroughly enjoyed it, she also says that the accompanying activity book that came along with it “should get 5 stars too!”

This was both adorable and serious at times. It told an important tale about bullying and friendship, from several angles. I absolutely loved Mustachio Pistachio, but my daughter’s favorite character was Hot Fudge. You gotta read the story to find out why! 😝

The illustrations in all of these books are beyond phenomenal and truly unique. I would absolutely read more Children’s books from Biff Bam Booza and Cheryl DaVeiga.

What a joyous pleasure War at the Ice Cream Store was too read! The story has a important message which is to always be kind to everyone and don't exclude anyone. It is portrayed in the plot of Bully Vanilli who is a big bully because he is the most popular flavour and he loves to pick on Mustachio Pistachio who is the least favourite. When it comes to a head the others all come together and say Bully Vanilli is nothing on his own. Bully Vanilli realises the error of his ways and learns that it is much better to be nice not mean. The illustrations are funny and I couldn't help but smile. I love the names of the ice creams and the book is a fun way to express too children the importance of being kind hearted!

War at the Ice Cream Store is the cutest way to teach kids about bullying. The author did a wonderful job of bringing these characters to life for little ones and the illustrations are perfectly done as well... Little ones will enjoy learning how Mustachio Pistachio and his "flavorite" friends teach Bully Vanilla about kindness and acceptance.

What a war-derful ice cream story! Deliciously silly and punny, this book is perfect for any certified "scoopaholic." Filled with a cast of ice cream flavors, it serves Bully Vanilli a taste of his own mis'cone'duct while teaching lessons in kindness, friendship, and humility. The artwork is a treat for the eyes and the clever wordplay will leave your mouth watering with sweetness and chillness. This book should be in every home, library, classroom, or even ice cream shop because it's chaotically fun (in the best way) to read!

The central message of this adorable book is anti-bullying. The engaging story and illustrations are sure to have your child giggling. (“The Reeses loaded their pieces.”) In the end General Custard declares Lucky Fork a Bully Free(ze) Zone.

The book also provides a link to more online fun: videos of cute songs (Nashville-style) and an interactive flip book.

This book put a smile on my face all the way through it. Perfect for all families with young children.

What a cute story!

It rhymes and it has some cute puns, but most important is the lesson it teaches.

There is no room for bullies even in an ice cream store! Such a good lesson for kids that they need to be kind and take a stand against a bully. It can also teach that kids need to not be a bully. We are all different and that's ok! We like different things and that's ok!

The illustrations are so fun and I really think that helps kids to visualize and internalize it better!

Vanilla thinks he is the greatest flavor in the world. He bullies Pistachio over it. The others ice creams and toppings get together to show Vanilla how wrong he it.

I liked how the others came to Pistachio's side readying to defend him as they listed how they all helped make Vanilla the greatest of the flavors. They pound him and pelt him. They show him the errors of his thoughts. Vanilla had to see where they were right. I liked when Vanilla admitted that it was the toppings that made him. I appreciated his apology.

I look forward to more from this author.
