As an Award Winning and International Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo Best Selling Author, I have always been an avid reader. I joke that I "cut my romance teeth" on the old historical romance books. I’ve written as a hobby for over 30 years. In 2014, I finally gave in to the characters in my head pleading for their story to be told. Thus, Emma's Home was created.
My first novel, Emma's Home became an Amazon Best Seller in 3 categories within the first month of publishing. Its success was followed by the rest of the Fairfield Series and then led into the Love's Series. From there I have continued with the romantic suspense Alvarez Security Series and now the Saints Protection & Investigation Series.
My books are filled with sweet romance and hot sex; mystery, suspense, real life characters and situations. My heroes are alphas, take charge men who love the strong, independent women they fall in love with. I worked as a counselor in a high school and have been involved in education for the past 30 years. I recently retired and now can spend more time devoted to my writing.
I have been married to a wonderfully patient man for 35 years and have 2 adult, very supportive daughters. When writing, my dog or one of my cats will usually be found in my lap!
Cobb is the latest installment in Maryann Jordan's Lighthouse security series and it did not disappoint. Jorge Cobb has gone home to New Mexico to attend his father's charity gala. It is there that he meets Josie, but a miscommunication ends their night before it can begin. Fast forward, Cobb is handed an assignment that will lead him back to New Mexico and Josie, where they continue to have their miscommunications. Eventually, they work things out and seeing their relationship unfold was awesome. As with all LSI stories, danger surrounds the heroine and I was hooked from the first page to the last page. Reading about Josie and her social work brings home the reality of what social workers do and I absolutely loved that it revolved around older people. I thought that Cobb's conversations with Tate and Bray were so sweet and I can't wait to get Bray's story. I received an authors copy and I have left an honest review.
Love this series! Lighthouse Security “Keeper” Jorge Cobb goes home to New Mexico to protect a senator’s daughter and help solve the mystery of a missing bookkeeper.
“His body was strong and handsome, but it was his quiet, inner strength that drew her to him.”
Cobb and Josie Rector got off on the wrong foot at their first meeting but it’s not long before they both realize that what they feel for each other isn’t just attraction.
“To him, this was not the gentle first kiss of two people just getting to know each other but the all-encompassing kiss of two halves fitting together.”
I really enjoyed the balance of swoony romance with mystery and suspense. -5 Stars-
This is book nine in The Lighthouse Security Investigations Series and it is Cobb and Josie's story and omg it is a must read. Cobb worked as part of The Lighthouse Security team and also came from a very wealthy background, while at his father's charity birthday party at a dinosaur museum he met Josie but things didn't go as planned when she said that he was not her type. Josie is a social worker and has a clinic where she provides and helps the elderly sometimes for free but when she is doing the accounts something doesn't add up and then the threats start arriving she new that she needed answers and help and that is where Cobb comes in to help. Cobb and Josie are so much alike and as they get closer there feelings for each other grows stronger but the danger is getting closer and Cobb needs to protect Josie with his life if possible. I love how they are together strong and yet vulnerable regardless of the situation and the chemistry between them is so hot that you can feel it sizzling of the pages and I couldn't put this book down as it was absolutely amazing and kept you on the edge of your seat wondering what else would happen next and it was so addictive and a real page and there are twists and turns along the way that keeps it really exciting and action packed. Maryann Jordan is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and that is why I definitely recommend you read this book, series and other books by her and you will definitely not be disappointed.
I Voluntarily Reviewed an Arc Copy of this Amazing Book.
This is Cobb and Josie's story and it is set mostly in New Mexico as Cobb first meets Josie at a gala held by his father. Their first meeting doesn't end well and assumptions were made. Fast forward a month or so and Cobb meets Josie again as she is being threatened when she noticed something hinky with the records her bookkeeper has been keeping. He disappears and the race begins to see who is threatening her.
Cobb is of mixed culture and his heritage is important to him. He is sensitive about it to a degree, and one misunderstanding with Josie causes him to question her feelings. She is insecure and can't understand why someone as handsome and well built as he is would be interested in her. She is a bit blunt and straightforward when she speaks. I liked her, she needs time and space to evaluate things and think through them. She thins before she leaps. Cobb gives that to her, he reads her well for the most part. They work. I love how these two relate to each other and have a strong sense of family. Ms. Jordan writes characters with depth and insecurities. She also writes in such as way that makes me want to visit the places she writes about. She sucks you into a story and holds you to the very end.
Cobb certainly didn’t expect to be assigned a mission involving the woman he met under the Triceratops at his father’s birthday gala however he wasn’t exactly disappointed about it either. Josie has discovered discrepancies in the finances at the clinic she runs and after the disappearance of her accountant and some threatening notes her father hires LSI to investigate. She is surprised when the man she met at the governor’s gala shows up as the investigator her father hires. I enjoyed the progression of the relationship between Cobb and Josie, while there was also a good mystery with the investigation of her finances and the disappearance of her accountant. Of course Ms Jordan always has some good twists and turns in her stories as well as some good action along with the romance. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be one of the first to read another one of your amazing stories Ms Jordan.
It's a struggle to pick a favorite series by Maryann Jordan but the LSI series is definitely one of the best by her (seriously every single series rocks!). Absolutely love how it is run from a decommissioned lighthouse and you can actually picture it in your mind as it is described to you in the book. I'm reading Cobb and quite a few of the other LSI men make appearances and now and I am going to start over and re-read every book in this series. This was another great book in a really great series!! I must have a HEA in the books I read and I get that everything single time with this author
I dont want to spoil this amazing book for anyone who hasnt read it so i'll try not to give amything away. But i loved this story the way they met and how simple words can be missunderstood so badly always astaunds me. But Cobb was a great character and He realy deserved the happy ending he got, and the h was so likeable i realy enjoyed that she was low drama and very sensible it worked the couple dynamic was perfect they klicked in ways i often miss they had pull intrest and attracktion. So if you love a good story full of action with a great couple that just work together this is the Book for you. Enjoy i sure did.
I received an advanced copy of this book to read and review. I have to say Maryann has again impressed with her ability to draw a reader into a story and ensure that they fall in love with the characters. I loved Cobb's story and Josie is a perfect match for him. The book is a true love story with a happy ever after. There is plenty of suspense to keep you turning the pages, I also loved that I didn'tguess who the bad guys were. I loved that the other Keepers made appearances throughout the plot. Thank you Maryann Jordan for another great read and a superb addition to the Lighthouse series.
I received this book as an arc , and I want to thank Maryann Jordan for sending it to me ! I am in love with this series but this book was incredible! I could not put it down ... the characters were great , interactions between them believable.... and the mystery kept me wondering what was coming on the next page . Usually I can figure out the “bad” guys , not so easy with this book . Love Love Love
I truly loved reading this book! It's captivating, moving & suspenseful. Great characters & romance, makes it the perfect read. Cobb & Josie's chance meeting at the Gala, did not go as he had planned. A few months later, Josie is receiving threats. She needed protection. In walked the last person she ever expected to see again. I enjoyed everything about it! Jorge (Cobb) & Josie, steal your heart from the very first pages to the last. Can't wait for Book 10! PAGE-TURNER!!
Wow! Each book gets better and better! I have no idea who my favorite is anymore! Josie is a social worker with older people that have no one else. Cobb is a Keeper and was at a family function when he saw something sparkle from afar. Fate had her hand in everything and brought them two back together in an unhappy situation. Josie needs helps and Jorge is coming to the rescue.
This is another amazing addition to this series! Josie and Jorje were fabulous characters trying to navigate their relationship, while surrounded by elements of danger. I love how these books flow so nicely, and always have a HEA!
Jorge Cobb is one of the Lighthouse Keepers but comes from a different background, his father is Governor of his state so attending political functions is normal for him if not his cup of tea. He is attracted to a woman, Josie, he meets at his father’s birthday fund raiser but is shot down. He is pleasantly surprised to discover some time later that she is his mission to protect when she discovers discrepancies in her office finances. They quickly realise their mutual attraction as she is a state senator’s daughter and have similar backgrounds. Maryann draws us in with her usual expertise and things do not always go entirely to plan. Romantic suspense at its best. I really enjoyed this book that I received as an ARC in return for an honest review, the keepers really are just that.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Based in the land of enchantment (New Mexico, my birth place), Maryann Jordan weaves the story of love, courage, family and deception. She tells a story you find yourself pulled into and experience the beauty of the state and the lives of her characters. As expected a truly beautiful story added to this wonderful world of Lighthouse Security Investigations.
Cobb, a member of Lighthouse Security Investigations and son to the governor of New Mexico, returns to New Mexico to attend his dad’s birthday gala. While there, he spots a beautiful woman standing alone in the shadows. He approaches her, asks for a dance, then invites her to go for drinks. She doesn’t fall for his “moves” and tells him he’s not her type. Not knowing what she meant by “type”. Cobb abruptly leaves. Feelings are hurt, words are misunderstood, and assumptions are made. While he believes he doesn’t stand a chance with her, she’s never far from his mind.
Josie, a social worker at a low income clinic, loves her job. She truly believes she can make a difference in people’s lives. Although the clinic is in a rough part of town, she enjoys working with everyone else employed at the clinic. Josie also helps with the clinic’s financials and often attends benefits offering donations to the clinic. It’s after one of the galas that she notices something wrong with the books. She’s not an accountant, but knows these corporations are “fishy”. While researching, contacting the donating businesses, she stumbles into trouble. The accountant also goes missing and she starts receiving threats. Josie’s dad, the senator of New Mexico, calls in LSI for security and a bodyguard. Cobb is assigned the job as he is familiar with the area and knows the politics surrounding the mess. Little did Josie know that “not her type” Cobb would be the bodyguard and more, that she never knew she needed.
Excellent, suspenseful, with a twist at the end that kept you guessing. I did not figure out the “bad” guy until the very end! Great twist!!! I loved Josie and Cobb together. I loved that she rented because she wasn’t sure New Mexico felt like home and that New Mexico was Cobb’s hometown, but wasn’t his home. Very profound. I enjoyed going with Josie as she made home visits and felt as though I was right there with her. The homes and areas that social workers, home health nurses, etc have to go to are dangerous. People as a whole, take this for granted. These gracious workers are vital to our growing elderly population. Kudos to Maryann Jordan for shedding light into their daily work. I also loved that Cobb wanted to be appreciated for who he was and became, not whom he was related to. LOVED, loved, loved this story! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
This is book 9 in the Lighthouse Security Investigations series and it can absolutely be read as a standalone. In this one we get Jorge "Cobb" and Josie. These two initially meet at a fundraiser and are definitely attracted to each other. But Josie turns him down when she thinks he just wants a one night stand. Months later, Lighthouse Security is hired by a senator to protect his daughter from threats she is receiving while working as a social worker. He not only has the experience to find out who is actually making the threats but can keep her safe as well. Once he actually gets to know her, he realizes that what he initially thought of her is not accurate. But not only that, he knows she is the woman for him. Now he not only has to keep her safe but to convince her that he is her man.
I absolutely loved this book! Not only was I drawn in right from the start but the whole story just kept me reading right to the end. Josie wasn't what I was expecting at all. I honestly have always thought that those who were raised in certain circles were just naturally outgoing and kinda snooty. I never would have expected them to have the strength of character that she has nor would I have expected them to be shy or not want any limelight. And I loved that about her. Cobb has some issues due to his own childhood but it's nothing to do with his family, just with how others treat him. And I completely understand his issues even if I don't agree with him not fully questioning his own reaction to what he perceives as racism and bias. I loved how once he realizes that he is wrong, he apologizes. And not only that, he shows that he is a good man in so many different ways. These two compliment each other in ways that I wasn't expecting, but I loved. The story itself had me all over the place on who the bad guy was! And when I thought I had it figured out, you just had to throw a monkey wrench into my thoughts LOL! Throw in some great side characters and I was hooked and didn't want it to end! I can't wait for Bray's story but I also wouldn't mind seeing a story for a certain senator's aide!
A new book in Maryann Jordan's wonderful Lighthouse Security Investigations series is a must read for me. Each book wraps you up in its secure arms and lets you lie back and enjoy the unfolding of an excellent romantic suspense story and Cobb is no exception! Gorgeous Jorge Cobb comes from a wealthy, multi-racial political background, he loves his family but found his true home in Maine as a Keeper for LSI. Visiting his family in New Mexico for his father's birthday charity gala Cobb meets Josie underneath the bones of a dinosaur, their spark of attraction stubbles over miscommunication and they go their separate ways. Fast forward a couple of months and social worker Josie discovers some discrepancies in her clinics accounts, when her bookkeeper disappears and the threats start Josie knows she needs help and turns to her father who brings in LSI and specifically Cobb to investigate and keep Josie safe. After a couple of bumps the couple sort out their communication problems and both being pretty pragmatic characters by nature don't try to fight their undeniable attraction. They make a great couple who draw strength from each other and it was lovely watching their relationship grow and the chemistry sizzle. Can LSI solve the case and can Cobb keep Josie safe? There is plenty of suspense in this story to keep you guessing, Ms Jordan tantalises us with a number of suspects. Add a dose of action and of course the pleasure of old friends and you have an entertaining, engaging and oh so enjoyable story that I thoroughly recommend. I received an arc from the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
As this book opens Jorge Cobb is attending his father's birthday gala, he's staying off to the side after doing the requisite mingling. When he spots a women in a silvery blue gown alone at the fringes he introduces himself as only Jorge, and asks her to dance. Josie also omits her last name and accepts the dance but not the invitation to leave the gala.
Back in Maine with the Keepers, Cobb is surprised to hear his father has contacted Mace. Apparently a friend of his, State Senator John Rector is in need of their services. Rector's daughter has been receiving threats and he's very concerned for her safety. She's a social worker in Las Cruces, New Mexico and discovered something odd with her clinic's charity donations. As Mace goes over the issues and why Cobb is perfect for the mission, Josh sends a photo of the daughter. This time Cobb is more than a little surprised, the woman he'd be protecting is none other than the elusive Josie from his father's gala.
While Cobb's reaction was amusing, Josie's is downright funny. She's been informed that the easiest way for her protection to be around her is if they pretend to be dating. Of course Cobb isn't giving her a heads up on this first meeting.
The nature of Josie's job doesn't make things easy but Cobb adjusts and the investigations begins smoothly.
While some things are easy to follow others are deeply hidden. The suspense ramps up as does the heat both in the investigation and the relationship between Cobb and Josie.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series!
This is a review for the newest addition to the Lighthouse Keepers series and the story of Cobb and Josie. They first meet at a fancy fundraiser and Cobb doesn’t put his best foot forward. He ends up giving Josie what she thinks is a cheesy pick up line and she shuts him down cold. He later has regret and so does she. Neither of them is able to forget the other. Josie begins to receive threats at her company and becomes frightened enough to contact her father who arranges protection for her. Protection comes in the form of the Keepers, and specifically Cobb since he is from New Mexico and knows the area. Imagine their surprise when they meet back up! Josie and Cobb have to spend a lot of time together and they grow closer every day. While it is a fast moving timeline, it feels like an organically developed love story. Cobb is strong in his feelings and never wavers. Josie is slower to fall but only because she is fighting it due to her belief that he is too good for her.
This is a wonderful story of true love with great characters, a suspenseful mystery and a strong emotional pull. It is always great to catch up with the other Keepers and their women. Love the Keepers and their series and for some reason this story had amazing imagery that made me want to visit Maine! While it is not necessary to read previous stories to enjoy this one, I would still recommend it so that you can fall in love with Cobb’s friends! I always look forward to new Maryann Jordan stories and can’t wait to see who’s up next!
Jorge Cobb works for Lighthouse Security Investigations. He is a Keepers. "The keepers of the light in a dark world. Trying to keep others safe." Josie is a social worker and runs a not for profit clinic for the elderly. When she notices some unusual donations made on behalf of the clinic, she takes a closer look at the accounts. This sets in motion a sting of events she never imagined. After her accountant goes missing and she begins to receive threats, her father hires LSI to keep her safe. Cobb is tasked with keeping her safe and investigating what is happening at the clinic. Cobb and Josie are both children of politicians just trying to make their own way in the world without being in the spotlight.
There is so much I love about this book!! Jordan creates strong well written characters with depth and courage. Exciting edge of your seat action. Although there is definitely some corruption and nefarious things going on, there are politicians with morals who care more about their family and what is right than power and money. Aside from the danger, money laundering, kidnapping, and other criminal activity in this book, common threads throughout are integrity, loyalty, family and justice. I definitely recommend this book as well as anything written by this author.
I received a review copy of this book from the author. I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jorge Cobb was raised in affluent diplomatic and political circles but he chose a different path of service to his country, first as a Navy Seal, then in Special Ops for the CIA where he met Mace Hanover When Mace founded Lighthouse Security Investigations, Cobb was recruited as a LSI Keeper. With his family background, military training and multicultural heritage he could easily slide into different roles necessary with the job. In other words, Cobb was a chameleon.
While attending a political fundraiser with his family, he was fascinated by a young woman named Josie. Cue misunderstandings; Josie thought he was just hitting on her for a one night stand while Cobb thought he was being turned down because of his multicultural looks. The night didn’t end well and then Cobb was assigned as protection detail for a young woman (Josie) who was being threatened after discovering accounting discrepancies at her job.
It’s a race against time to pull in LSI resources, find the source of the threats and keep Josie safe. As for the misunderstandings between Cobb and Josie, you have to read the book. Maryann Jordan has a way with words that kept me reading!
I received an ARC of this book, but my review is voluntary.
I can’t get enough of the Lighthouse Keepers and their stories, not one has been a disappointment and this author just keeps hitting it out of the ball park with amazing characters. Josie is a social worker and finds an anomaly in her bookkeeping, and then starts to receive threats. She enlists the help of her dad, a Senator, who knows the Governor and his son, Jorge Cobb, who happens to be a Lighthouse Keeper. Cobb gets the assignment and is surprised to see that Josie is the woman he met at his dad’s extravagant birthday party months ago and the woman he can’t get out of his head. Their first meet wasn’t all that great but now he has a chance to redo their initial meeting and hopefully get to the bottom of the threats. It was said a couple of times in the book “easy and perfect” and YES....YES it was. I LOVE the no drama, no o/w, no misunderstandings etc that derail a couple. I LOVE the communication, honesty and no hiding or running away from the feelings....easy and perfect. An amazing read with steam...ahem the steam....suspense....great characters....lust to love....no drama....and an ending that had me smiling from ear to ear....LOVE the Keeper series!! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
I absolutely love the LSI guys and ever book as it comes out becomes my latest favourite which is always a sign of great writing as far as I am concerned
Jorge Cobb is the perfect operative with his mixed heritage he can blend into any environment and he has used that is entire military career first as a Seal then as a CIA operative but now he is one of the Keepers at LSI. He returns to New Mexico to attend a political/birthday function for his father the governor There he spies a woman who draws his attention Josie thinks he is just hitting on her and turns him down he misunderstands and thinks she is turning him down because of his mixed blood. They go their separate ways but Cobb can't forget the woman from that night. Months later he is given a assignment in New Mexico to protect a senators daughter who has found discrepancies in her charities finances and it is non other than Josie Soon they both realise the error they made on the night of the function and the passion flares between them but can they have a future when danger is closing in it will take the help of LSI to keep Cobbs woman safe and give them a future
We are back with the talented men and women of Lighthouse Security and this time the story belongs Jorge Cobb. Cobb is the son of the governor of New Mexico and has travel from Maine to his parents’ state to attend his father’s birthday party. There he met a mysterious woman. A woman he suspects he insulted and even a couple of months later, still thinks of her. When a mission is assigned to him, he is shocked to discovers the woman from the party, the one he couldn’t forget, is his new mission. Josie Rector, a social worker in charge of a clinic and the daughter of the senator from New Mexico, has been getting threatening messages. When they meet again, it’s obvious the attraction is mutual, but keeping Josie safe is Cobb’s/Jorge’s top priority. In this action packed, whodunit romance, we get a chance to visit with some of the characters from previous stories. Something this reader always enjoys. Once again, the story was engaging, and the characters well developed. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Maryann Jordan wrote a gem in Cobb. Jorge Cobb is the grandson of a former governor of New Mexico and son of the current governor of New Mexico. But when he turned 18 he eagerly joined the Navy and is now a Keeper with LSI. While back in NM at a charity event for his Dad’s birthday he catches glimpse of a beautiful woman, he asks her to dance and they introduce each other by first names only. Josie eventually shoots him down saying he is not her type and they go their separate ways. A little while after being back in Maine they get a call from Senator Rector that his daughter needs protection and investigation where she works as a social worker. As Mace tells Cobb about it, he sees the picture of Josephine Rector, and it’s his Josie. He immediately accepts and heads to NM. There are many twists and turns in this book from Cobb & Josie’s misunderstanding each other, to who is behind everything going on with the threats Josie is getting. Everything is not as it seems. I couldn’t put it down until I got to the end! Amazing book.
