Barbara Gelb was an American author, playwright, and journalist. She, along with her husband Arthur Gelb, wrote three biographies of the Nobel laureate playwright Eugene O'Neill.
This book is kind of like "Dragnet" in book form. It's extremely straight forward and pretty dry. It gave a seemingly accurate account of what it was like to be a New York City policeman and detective in the early '70s.
This book is really horrible. If my father was not one of the detectives Ms. Gelb writes about, I would have never read past the first chapter, if that far.
