This book is kind of like "Dragnet" in book form. It's extremely straight forward and pretty dry. It gave a seemingly accurate account of what it was like to be a New York City policeman and detective in the early '70s.

This book is really horrible.
If my father was not one of the detectives Ms. Gelb writes about, I would have never read past the first chapter, if that far.
