He has a reputation for being a grump wolf. But when his mate arrives in town with her adorable son, he’ll do whatever it takes to make her stay.
After a devastating tragedy left him orphaned, white wolf shifter, Logan, was adopted by Valerie and raised in Wishing Moon Bay, a town like no other. Most of the inhabitants have supernatural powers. Shifters live alongside witches and vampires, usually without any trouble. But when Logan’s mate ends up in town—not an easy feat for a non-magical person—trouble soon follows. With the help of his adopted brothers, Logan promises to keep them safe. Whatever the cost.
Newly dumped and divorced, Penny is traveling to her sister’s house when her car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. Only it’s not the middle of nowhere. A road sign to a town she’s never heard of, and is not on any map, looms out of the darkness. As her car makes sounds no car should ever make, she has no choice. Penny makes a life-changing decision and drives toward Wishing Moon Bay. Soon, Penny is caught up in otherworldly danger. Her shock at learning the supernatural is just plain natural in Wishing Moon Bay soon disappears as she falls for Logan, the man who says he’s her mate. But even the grumpy white wolf shifter might not be able to save Penny from the danger that stalks her.
And then there’s the weird feeling that she’s visited Wishing Moon Bay before…
Harmony Raines loves to write romance filled with magic and love. Her men are usually not so alpha, but they know how to treat their fated mates, or alien lovers well.

Just my way of saying thank you for giving my books a try.
In general, the dialogue was pretty flat and boring, and a lot of it could have been summarized instead to move the pace along. Additionally, I found the 8yo kid Milo's dialogue to be a little bit unbelievable and not suited for his age - I'm not sure if it was the sentence structure or concepts that threw me off, but he spoke like a much older boy.
Overall, there was a lot of telling rather than showing which made for rather dry narration. The MC Logan's adopted mother and siblings were announced and described in a very unexciting manner, and I didn't really get any specific personalities from them. I also wasn't a fan of the internal dialogue from Logan's wolf. I am more used to emotional simple dialogue if any, and Logan's wolf seemed more analytical and logical than he was when trying to get the FMC Penny to stick around!
I found a few editing errors that really annoyed me as well. In one scene, Penny took away a warlock's soup urgently because there was something wrong with it. In the scene, there was some dialogue mentioning that there was something extra in it that was offensive to dragons, and the staff suspected it was tampered with, but the exact details weren't revealed until at least 3 chapters later and they reviewed the incident to clarify that it was a mouse had been found in the soup. It definitely was not mentioned in the original scene - I searched the text and reread it multiple times to make sure.
Ultimately, I just generally didn't care for the plot or the romance. Much of the angst between the couple seemed to repeatedly be whether or not Logan could convince Penny to stay in the supernatural town instead of leaving. The pivotal plot point for all the mystery and action also revolved around whether or not Penny had left on her own without telling Logan. The villain and their motivations were also severely undeveloped, and I started skimming pretty heavily after 55% of the book. The final intimate scene was also rather cringy to me and the details could have been skipped over.
While I do love the concept of an adopted family of different animal shifters, I don't think this author's books are a good fit for me, so I'm passing on the rest.
Annoying weak heroine, writing is clunky, and plot errors.
It started off so well but so many questions unanswered.
Penny and her son Milo, are going to live with her sister. After her husband left them in loads of debt, she has no choice but to go to live with her sister. On the way there, their car starts to misbehave and she pulls into Wishing Moon Bay, that isn’t listed on the map.
When they get to the town they go to stay at the hotel that Logan’s adopted mum owns. Logan a wolf shifter quickly realises that she’s his mate, but she’s human and doesn’t know about shifters. They don’t know it yet, but Penny is in danger.
Penny is annoying. She can’t trust Logan, she can trust Logan, she needs to go to her sisters, she needs to stay there. Just make a frigging decision!!! Then there’s the annoying way that she babies her son. Milo tells her he can’t wait for it to snow, so he can build a snowman and have a snowball fight. Penny instantly tells him he’ll be wet and cold, and get wet feet! So what??? That’s just a part of snow!! 😡😡😡 Then there are the unanswered questions. Penny felt like she had been in the town before, had she? Penny gravitates towards a talisman necklace, does she have powers? It hints about her mum knowing about magic, but never tells us if she was a witch. Then there’s the ludicrous danger. Which I won’t spoil. But it’s silly, and doesn’t make sense.
So many plot errors that I can’t write them down as I’m too confused. 😂😂
I liked the concept of this book (adopted shifter brothers of different races) much more then I liked the actual book. I also liked how the wolf and the man communicated and that the wolf wasn’t this aggressive animal with no intelligence. This had the automatic love at first sight, mated plot. Which I’ve never loved. Add to that she’s a human who knows nothing about magic and you get a very strained plot line. By that I mean in one breathe she found out about shifters and magic and in the next she calmly agreed to move to a town. Wow a dude just turned into a wolf, cool let’s move here…. Then there was the dialogue, it felt so stilted and lengthy, unnatural and formal
“If I am going to survive in this world, then I need a crash course on what to be aware of. Since I am just a human.”
Very formal. It also felt like more then half of what I read was long winded dialogue, which got boring rather fast. Then it started taking about his past and how at 1 years old his parents were killed and an actual wolf pack adopted this unchanged 1 year old baby. Nope I was over it.
Insta-love relationship was a bit much. The constant insecurity of Logan is just overwhelming and makes the insta love seem ridiculous. Of course you’re scared she left or will leave or whatever — you don’t know her!
And the villain was manufactured and the plot involving the villain was underdeveloped.
Also she does not use contractions. So all the dialogue sounds weird especially when coming from the kid.
The relationship between the boys and their mom was super adorable.
The White Wolf of Wishing Moon Bay begins a new series, The Bond of Brothers (Wishing Moon Bay) with a story that quickly captured my heart and my need to know more about these people who live in and are drawn to the coastal, magical town of Wishing Moon Bay – a place that appears on no map and the entrance is hidden from human eyes until the right people need to see the way in.
Now, I’m a huge fan of this author’s Bear Bluff/Bear Creek world (and the spin-offs as well) so it was a fun experience to see where we’d be going in this brand new world that is not connected in any way. And I can tell you that I’m hooked on this world from the very first book. It’s imaginative, intriguing, funny, snarky, and sexy as well as populated with interesting people that I want to know more about in time.
Logan’s background is interesting and unique, but it has also made him somewhat of a lone wolf even among his brothers and friends. He has no burning need to find his mate if one even exists for him. But he also has no doubt that his mate has found him when Penny and her adorable son find their way into Wishing Moon Bay in a car that definitely needs some help. Now comes the challenge of letting Penny and Milo know what he is, just how filled with magical beings the town is and fighting the danger that is felt but unseen for now.
Penny has had her life upended when her husband dumped her for another woman. Suddenly she’s on her own with no job, no money, and no home. She’d been on the way to stay with her sister for a while when her car suddenly had death rattles and the signs for a small town that she had never seen before guided her to Wishing Moon Bay. Now this small town and its residents are opening their lives to her in a way that she’s not too comfortable with just yet. Everyone has an angle, right? She just has to keep focused and get back on the road – or she would if the hotel manager wasn’t so attractive, attentive, and determined to care for her and her son.
I loved The White Wolf of Wishing Moon Bay. It’s fresh, an entirely new world to explore and new people to fall for… or dislike, depending on their actions. Just about any and all paranormal beings will be introduced as the series continues – some that gave me a good chuckle when they appeared, too. I had fun here, and I can see another world that I will easily become caught up in with The Bond of Brothers.
There are brothers to be introduced, secondary characters that I’m waiting for their stories to be told, definitely bad guys and danger, giggles that surprised me, sizzling chemistry that entices, and a whole new world to explore. If you love Harmony Raines’ work then you’ll want to get started on this new series… right now. I’m hooked and I believe it won’t take long before you are, too.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
This is an OK shifter romance, with a likable couple -- but it seemed a little slow to me. I'm not sure why, because it wasn't especially long, but maybe it needed more showing and less telling. I also wanted a little more backstory on both Logan and Penny. It gets 3 stars from me.
The couple does fall in instalove, which is typical for shifter romances. There are sex scenes, but they are not overly explicit.
I liked Logan, but I wanted more explanation on why he was considered grumpy. I get that it was supposed to be because of his early years living with wolves, but I wondered why he still hadn't gotten over his dislike of people after so many years.
I did think that Penny would have had a harder time accepting the whole shifter and fated mates thing. She wasn't a shifter, and was still dealing with a painful divorce -- so I think she would have had a hard time believing that she was already in love again.
One problem I have with all of this author's series is that there is so long between books. Lots of times I have to go back and reread some of the earlier books in a series, simply because it has been so long that I don't remember all the characters. That is frustrating. I know that this author writes lots of books -- but I wish she would concentrate on one series at a time, so that the books could be published closer together. For that reason, I made a point of not starting this series until I thought it was complete.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
A brand new series and world by Harmony Raines, yay!
Wow! This story is so different from Bear Creek and Bear Bluff, etc. This is a whole new world 🌎! Here there are shifters, but there are also witches, warlocks and possibly vampires (but I haven't seen any of those yet)! Logan is a wolf shifter who is helping his adopted mother with her inn. Penny is driving to be with her sister after a dreadful divorce leaves her with nothing to take care of her son. Her car breaks down right before this strange little town that she has never seen before, even though she has driven the road many times! Milo is an adorable addition to the story. The inn has many visitors of a magical nature. The town only allows those in who belong there! I want to go visit Wishing Moon Bay myself!
The pace is very fast and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful. The storyline is character oriented with one slightly steamy scene near the end and some action. The characters are vivid and endearing. I totally enjoyed this introduction and look forward to seeing what happens next! Enjoy!
I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was a great start to a new series. I just would’ve wished we got more growth of Logan and Penny’s relationship because due to Penny’s past she has major of trust issues where men are concerned thanks to her ex-husband leaving her and Milo for another women but still thought her and Logan are great together and loved how he showed his softer side with Penny and Milo. I really loved Milo he’s awesome. I wonder if Penny and therefore Milo end up being completely not human considering the protection talisman from the attic called to him and when he gave it to Penny she thought that it felt familiar somehow. I loved getting to meet all of Logan’s adoptive brothers apart from Dario the Bay Horse Shifter and I’m really looking forward to them meeting their fated mates as the series continues. I’m looking forward to getting to know Penny’s sister Helena and Dario next. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
Enjoyable romance with a wolf shifter finally finding his mate! There are some unique twists to add to this adventure. It appears that the town of Wishing Moon Bay protects itself from outsiders. However when a potential mate drives near by suddenly signs leading to the town appear. Penny is driving with her son to her sister's home after losing every possession as well as surviving a divorce with her husband. Her car starts malfunctioning. Then she sees signs showing the nearby town of Wishing Moon Bay. She follows the signs hoping to find a car repair shop. She is stranded as her car cannot be reviewed until the next day. She is given directions to a hotel. She meets Logan who has nearly given up on ever finding his mate! Can he convince her that she is his one and only mate? A very enjoyable story with A few difficulties tossed in to entertain us all.
This book is the first on a series about the magical community of shifters (of all kinds), ordinary humans, witches and warlocks. A special stone found in the sand, when toss in the bay during the wishing moon,, grants the wish.
Penny and her son, Milo, developed car problems as the passed Wishing Moon Bay. Logan is a wolf shifter and adopted son of the owner of the hotel. He is also Penny's mate. Can he convince her he is her forever?
The cast of characters are enchanting mixture of funny, intriguing, and sezy. The fast paced vivid scenes with a mystery gives this story life. I like the realistic but hidden approach to the magical seemly ordinary community.
Highly recommended for readers looking for something different.
A sweet romance between a wolf shifter and a human, single mother.
When Penny finds Wishing Moon Bay, it’s just in time for her car to break down. Wolf shifter Logan, knows that Penny is his mate the instant he sets eyes on her, now he has to try and make sure she sticks around! Penny has been through a lot recently, and Wishing Moon Bay might have a lot to offer her, but she doesn’t know anything about the magical side of the town!
This was an enjoyable, and quite sweet paranormal romance, with a silver fox (well he’s a white wolf, but in his forties). It’s an entertaining story, with intriguing side characters, and likeable main characters. There are times Penny seems a little wushu-washy, but it makes sense considering what she has dealt with.
Title: The White Wolf of Wishing Moon Bay (The Bond of Brothers, #1) POV(s): Dual—Third Person Interconnected Series: Yes Standalone: Yes Cliffhanger: No HEA: Genre(s): Contemporary Paranormal Romance Triggers: N/A Tags/Tropes: ❖ Divorced-Single-Mom ❖ Fast-Burn ❖ Fated-Mates ❖ Heroine-in-Danger ❖ Poor-Struggling-Heroine ❖ Small-Town (Magic Community) ❖ Wolf-Shifter-Hero-Human-Heroine
This is a part of a very large place where Paranormals of all kinds live together sheltered from the outside world by an ancient witch spell of concealment.
Penny is a human and Logan a wolf shifter. She stumbles upon the way in to the bay when her car starts to breakdown on her way to her sister’s home. She knows the car won’t make the hours left to Heleana’s so she follows the sign that has the promise of help in a mile or 2. As soon as she enters the magic border Logan senses his fated mate has arrived.
When Penny sees some of the town she thinks she has been there before. When her son Milo sees a dolphin shift into a man on the beach, Logan has to tell her what he is and what she means to him. Penny is drawn to him and the town but decides to take things slow because of her ex-husbands betrayal.
They soon seem to be having strange things happen around them. After some scary events Penny decides to throw caution to the wind and stay and give Logan her heart.
Please get the next book with her sister Helena as the lead. The two books are really one big story.
Wanted to really like this, story concept was good, execution was greatly lacking. Dialogue was weak and cringy. Huge negative, inner animal talking like it’s another human person to the human it inhabits. Full on back-and-forth conversations is too much. The wolf speaks in an extremely too human manner, like it’s another human being and the human speaks as if he’s the animal. VERY off putting. One to a few words, or interpreted feelings is so much better. Wolf having full long conversations with the human side reads cheesy and cringy. It’s very overdone. If it wasn’t a full moon the night Penny left from home, definitely made zero sense for it to be one when she happens upon Wishing Moon Bay. Is protected by barrier magic, not on another universe, or even in another pocket of time. Milo is indicated to be much younger than his speech. Yes children can have a good grasp of language, but Milo’s was too much. The insta-love was cringe. World building needs work. The villain story was actually pretty bad. It just didn’t make sense and was very out of place. I downloaded the second book, the description isn’t promising though, so I’m on the fence on reading.
A very enjoyable first book in a new series by a much liked author. Characters you get to know and more importantly like and a good entertaining storyline. One sex scene which flowed as part of the story, which is a nice change from some books today which are nothing but sex with little story. Looking forward to reading about the rest of the brothers meeting their mates too. Even Jeremy was a decent character despite his actions. Loved Milo, what a lovely young boy, full of enthusiasm for everything new. I expect we will get some more information in future books as there were a couple of things left open ended. I was kindly offered this book for an honest review but chose to read it through Kindle Unlimited.
Erm this book. Wasn’t really a book where you couldn’t put it down and wanted to know what’s happen but it also wasn’t a bad book.
Penny and her son Milo needed a fresh start after having a broken marriage penny was on way to her sister to start over fresh with her son. After having car troubles penny pulls into a small town so she can get her car Foxes and carry on traveling to her sister. By the time they find a garage it’s late and the garage is closing so penny and Milo have to spent a in a local hotel. Penny just though this place would be somewhere warm and dry for the night.. never expected to find the love of her life there.. a man that claiming that’s penny his is mate.. that’s not the only thing this man has to explain.
Penny and her son Milo are on their way to live with her sister when her car breaks down and she has to take a road that doesn’t appear on the map. It’s leading her to the town of Wishing Moon Bay. After dropping her car at a shop to be fixed she and her son are walking to the hotel when a guy coming down to rad scares her but he is from the hotel. Logan just know something is coming he just doesn’t know what it is. After stepping out to take a break he feels a pull to go down the street that when he sees them and knows right away that’s what he felt his mate. So enjoy this very good read and see what happens and how they get to their HEA !!
Yet another great story from Harmony Raines! Logan has resigned to the fact he will, probably never meet his mate. Then one day, she just shows up in Wishing Moon Bay after her car broke down. Penny and her son Milo are headed away from their broken life, headed to her sisters house in the city to start over. However, car trouble has her ending up in a town that can’t be found on her maps. Something is amiss here, but she is unsure what it is. Danger lurks around every corner, and she fears for her son and how to protect him. Asked to stay by Logan, for some reason, she knows it is what she needs to do, and Milo loves it here. This was a sweet, slightly sexy story about a three people who just might make the perfect family. Check it out today!
Logan and Penny are meant to be with each other and Fate plays the role and lands Penny in Wishing Moon Bay which is a town with all the supernaturals (witches, warlocks, vampires, shifters, fae...) It is protected by the magic casted by the witches and warlocks to protect all the supernatural from the outside world. Fate brings Penny to Logan when she and her son Milo needs him the most. It's lovely to see how much accepting Logan is towards Milo and not just him but his complete family. Absolutely love the mystery of why Penny was drawn to the town and found it familiar(which will be revealed in book 2 of the series). Valerie, Ivan and Rift are some of my favourite characters from the series. Loved the read.😁
This story introduces the reader to a town cloaked from the outside world. Penny and her son Mario stumble upon it, not quite by accident and meet Logan. He is one of six adopted, non related shifter brothers who had been brought up by Valerie the hotel owner. Discovering that Penny was his gated mate, Logan needs to find a way of making her stay. Date intervened and all brothers band together to aid Penny. The story is ok, but not gripping. The acceptance of Logan by Penny seemed to smooth and unreal to me, with no action or depth to the event. Anomalies occur eg Penny is in her bath robe one minute and fully clothed in the next without having moved? Annoying.
Her car starts acting up and signs to Moon Bay showed up. She goes there and the car back fires and stalls out in front of the garage. The mechanic points he towards the hotel. He was help with the hotel fir his mother and needed a break. He finds them walking and says he from the hotel. He knew she's his fated mate and she human. She wasn't all that scared when she found out he's a shifter, her son well that was awesome. They're taking it slow so she can get used to a town that's mainly shifters, witches, warlocks and other beginnings. An evil witch who kidnapped them, a warlock with no magic, and 3 brothers helping to find his family. The witch in custody, the warlock might be working for the hotel and his family safe.
This book is in a new world created by this wonderful author. I enjoyed the time spent reading about Wishing Moon Bay and people that live there, especially the main character Logan. He is one of six boys that was adopted by a single woman who now runs a hotel. Logan is in charge as his mother recovers from surgery. Penny has just gone through a divorce. Her and her son Milo are en route to stay with her sister when her car starts acting up and she discovers a town that isn't on gps or any map. I love this town and all of the supernatural story possibilities that exist. I am excited to see that book number two comes out very soon!
This book started out pretty typically. The heroine and her small son are starting a new life after the cheating ex loses all the money. What's cool is that end up at Wishing Moon Bay, which only appears for the right people. It's for the various supernaturals, but it allows Penny in because she's the fated mate of Logan, a werewolf.
Logan is the first beta hero in a shifter book that I've ever read. It really made for a nice change. There is no posturing or breast beating. Penny is really great. She is brave and smart. She thinks things through and works on solving her own problems.
This book is longer than most of the Harmony Raines's books, which is a good thing.
New to me author. She writes well but I'm bored. Very repetitive and definitely full of unnecessary details. I'm not sure how I feel about the dialogue yet. Someone else mentioned the dialogue as flat. That's how I feel. A few inconsistencies, like Logan was all incredulous when Ivan talked like the house was a living thing but later on says he always felt like the house was a living tool Another author who does the "should I stay or should I go" routine a million times. We don't need longer books if it takes a lot of repetition and flip flopping in abundance is how they achieve it. Less is more.
It took me awhile to wonder why this book was not great. I think the book lacked depth. The characters were elementary, there was instant love in 1-2 days. The shifter recognized his mate and she within hours was into him even though she went through a divorce recently.
They both were so kind and it read like a children’s story. The scenes were spliced together with little transition. They ate breakfast, went outside, had a conversation and then ate lunch.
I thought it was a sweet book but then there was one sex scene. The villain was easily defeated. It read like a teen new author.
When I saw the cover I thought yeah. This was my previous choise for next series. Firstly, the main character was ani orphaned werewolf Logan so it was ok, then there came Penny with her son. So every good story neeeds a heroine ( or the dame in danger).Secondly, the story was boring and predictable, dialogues were mixed, where small child was more clever than his mother. Thirdly, the action scenes happened at the end of book, so I was disappointed and disillusioned. I hope, that the second part od series will be better.
I really enjoyed this story. I have to say that the story reminded me of another story I read. For the life of me I can not remember specifics other than it was a holiday story of some sort. I enjoy Milo and the excitement he had about everything. I also enjoyed the fact that there are different shifters in the story. It's a nice read and I recommend you enjoy the story. I wish I could taste the food!
As always Harmony has skills maybe new style of storytelling but her creative genius. Hot shifters and family oriented second chance for Penny and Milo. Always an adventurous ride filled with drama ,plots and surprise. Love reading her stories. Characters are to fall for and their personalities want you to make friends with them. Love the shifter inner animals personality and POV, like talking to your BFF or your Jim-e-ney cricket haha
Loved the premise of this story... hidden magical town ,only seen by special people. Penny and her son Milo are drawn there with car trouble. She meets Logan and is introduced to his adopted brothers. A mutual attraction, surprise revelations of shifters and magical beings and it looks like a simple love story. Then throw in a totally unexpected danger. Wow. Great characters can not wait to read brother's story. A definite read.
this was fun, interesting and I gotta say I spent most of the time laughing. That boy was some kind of cheeky! I have noticed kids getting more and more cheeky as time goes on and from what I read here I am not alone in my observation. Though too short for me, because I so wanted more, this is a great read. All the characters are great, the family bonds between mother and son or adoptive brothers were especially wonderful. They poke fun, snarl, and always support one another. Just how a family should be. I will be reading more of this series as it comes out.
