Cherry Falls #4

Rate this book
My parents named me Glory but I’m having a hard time living up to that name. As a reporter, I long for a meaty, fascinating story to splash across the front page of the Cherry Hills Gazette. Sadly, I’ve been reduced to writing dating tips and recipes. I know there are stories here but I haven’t discovered them yet...unless...there’s this mysterious guy who bought the big house on Secret Lane. He never eats in our restaurants or shops in our grocery store or even drinks in the pub. I think he may be my story—my big break. Hope he doesn’t mind a little stalking.

Secret Lane guy here. Stalk away. I can’t wait to lure you into my new home. A word of advice, though, once I’ve got you, I plan to keep you.

When you first meet Corby like Glory hes suspicious hes following another person to get info and thats how these two came together they both are somewhat after a story and when Glory finds out who he really is her story isn't really about him she doesn't have a story but that doesnt stop Corby from wanting her and informing her she can write about him.
But there story is cut when she finds out her car was trashed another story for them to investigate lol. It was cute and funny couple push away by Glory but glad Corby was never to far. But there some drama with another stalker.

Hilariously funny, you are on the edge of your seat when you dive into Ella Goodes latest story.

Fantastic characters whose development and backstory are intriguing and interesting to say the least. Glory’s our lead and she is full of life, I loved her banter with Corby our alpha male lead. She’s the reporter for the local newspaper always on the lookout for her latest scoop. When the mysterious Corby arrives in town she knows she’s found it.

Corby arrived in Cherry Falls he’s hoping to find his way back to writing. A best selling author with numerous awards and accolades under his belt Ives suffering serious writing block. When he discovers Glory though he realises it’s not just the writing missing it’s her.

He knows what he wants, but trying to achieve it when everyone around them appears crazy is going to take done work.

If you want an Alpha male who ticks every box then this is the story for you.

Fun engaging secondary characters and a story that’s slightly over the top then you need to grab this book.

It’s a yes from me.

HEA
I read this a long time ago and wanted to reread it. Don't like it as much as the first time I read it because my tastes have changed so my rating from a 4 to a 2.5. I hate the double standards of the virgin girl and the experienced hero. There are many stories of him avoiding the women trying to jump his bones, but what I hated is the hero's inner monologue that turned me off, and carried through the rest of the book, so I read it with a grimace. Here are some examples:
Quote (talk about how sexy the heroine's voice is and how he would love to record it),
"Something like, 'Sleep well, baby, because tomorrow you’re going to write all the words.' That would be even better than sex at this point since I’ve been blocked for over a year."
end quote
Yeah, there is the experienced hero that I hate.
Quote
"..my bag of tricks is pretty shallow. Hopefully, she’ll be enthralled with my writer status, and that will be enough to get her to the bedroom. It’s all other women have needed."
This was confusing because it gave me the impression that is what he uses to get the women he wanted to fuck in his bed, since he does enjoy sex, but the rest of the paragraph makes me think he was being sarcastic,
Quote,
" I once came home from a book tour to find a woman naked in my bedroom. She’d bribed the doorman to let her up and had lived in my apartment for three days, waiting for me to come home.
That was a little terrifying, but I’d pay a fortune for this unnamed woman to do the same."
end quote
See this makes me think that when he said that his writer status is all he needed to get a woman in his bed, he was talking about the women he was avoiding, but he is clearly not a monk so there are women he bedded that didn't need much convincing. I don't know, I hate the ambiguity of this character.
This is simple, he is a famous rich writer, secluded to write his next big hit but has writers block and she is a reporter wanting to know about who is this stranger in her town sick of writing silly articles. There is stalking, a delusional woman who wants him and a man who wants the heroine. I had a hard time feeling a connection between the two at first. He seems to want her just to fuck her, and then later he turned more like the hero Ella Goode knows how to write, one who is an alpha caveman wanting the heroine with a ring on her finger and baby in her belly. The latter part of the book was better, but the stench of the experienced hero lingered.
There are rumors about him knocking up a supermodel (he never touched her and it is that same supermodel crazy woman stalking him, I think it's the same one he found naked in his bed and it terrified him so much it sent him running). See all this makes me think like he said, he beats off women with a stick avoiding them, but he also comes across as a player especially the way he interacts with the heroine. It seems to be only physical and hard to believe he has deeper feelings until we got to later in the book, he did convince me it was far more than physical for him.
Quote,
" He’s a celebrity who thinks he can have whatever he wants. Of course he’s some playboy; I don’t know why I would have thought anything different."
See!! Even she sees him as a player, she even clued him in that she is a virgin and she doesn't want to be heartbroken by a player. I think EG wrote him as an experienced hero but not a player. He supports her trying to figure out who vandalized her car, there is mention of a wedding and kids which he loves the idea, so I started to like him a tincy bit, but not enough. My tastes have changed, I just prefer DVs. The way the hero talks about sex makes it not special when he is having it with the heroine and his experience shows, that is what I hate, he has others to compare her to. He has the nerve to hate that she calls this one random guy that he shot by his first name because it makes him jealous! Um, she has no guys in her past, so she is the one allowed to not like that he had women in his past, which he does!
Quote,
“I’d rather you not call him Graham.”....
“Because it sounds intimate. I don’t like the thought of you being intimate with another man.” My grip on her waist tightens. “In fact, that makes me feel all sorts of violent.”
end quote
I would have loved his possessiveness had it not had the double standards between them. I can really imagine loving this book, had it been a DV, because that is simply how I like my couples. It is personal preference. Since his ''this could be more fun than sex" comment, it soured the whole story for me.
I love Ella Goode, she gave us many many dual virgin romances since this book and since she didn't write anything this year 2024 and we are in June, I miss her and reread some DV favorites. I was curious to remember what this book was about, that is why I reread it, and I won't read it again.
I hope she comes back with new books soon though. I miss her and I hope she is doing well!

This was a great little read. I love how all the characters interlink, it makes it feel like you’re part of something bigger.
I loved the intrigue and plot twists in this story, as well as some great sweet steamy scenes. Colby fell fast and hard and I loved his alpha ness.
I can’t wait to read more of the series.

I read the books a little out of order and read Glory’s character in 209 Wedding Lane, and didn’t like her much, she was pushy and meddling with Willow. I know she was her friend and was trying to watch out for her but she caused her trouble with the dating app dates she set her up on and then she accuses the hero of manipulating Willow. Seriously, pot meet kettle.
She is a reporter who wants a good juicy story, but their town is small and nothing exciting ever happens there. And she won’t write something that would hurt people in town. When Corby a best selling crime novelist moves to town she wants the scoop on him. He has written a multi book series that Hollywood has made movies of. But he’s hit a writer’s block wall. Hasn’t written anything in 18 months. The internet is abuzz with why he left New York, some say he murdered someone, another rumor is about a woman who says he abandoned her and her son. She’s a crazy stalker who we see later in the story. The two meet when Glory is meeting a guy who she thinks is giving her a story, Corby has been following the guy to use him as a character in his next book. Turns out the guy is obsessed with Glory and wants her for himself. Corby’s instantly attracted to her and wants her. He entices her with his story if she will spend time with him. They eventually act on their attraction, she’s a virgin, don’t know Corby’s history, he does spend a lot of time talking about women who approach him and how they all want to sleep with him. Drama with his stalker, a little boy, her stalker, the paparazzi and then a shooting, police, lawyers and finally a happy ending. They say their I love yous, they adopt the little boy the stalker was using and years later two daughters.

The couple: Glory and Corby

Romance genre: insta-love
Part of a series: Yes (Cherry Falls Romance)
Length: 106 pages

Plot: Glory is a local reporter who thinks she might be on the trail of a story when she comes across the town's new resident, Corby, who is a famous author transplanted from New York.
Corby knows that Glory is meant to be his the first time he sees her, but he doesn't want to spook her. So he keeps enticing her back to him, and pops up around town where she is. The two of them have more problems than they realize though, because someone's out to get each of them. Love's a killer, yeah?

Character development: I don't see the attraction of being a hard-nosed journalist, but I see that pop up in more than a handful of books. I guess it's an easy way to explain a heroine's movements. In this case, both the h and H were writers and could justify their movements through wanting to catch a story/book idea. I did like that Glory was a huge fan of Corby's, but didn't act like it. That's the exact opposite of what he needed. And the addition of the little boy at the end was really sweet. I don't read fosters/adoptions that often in romance books. This was a sollid entry in the series!

Would I read more from this author/in this series: Yes
Next book in the series: 202 Cherry Popper Way

Wonderful!! This was a nice quick, short read. I absolutely love it.

Corby meets Glory when he is spying on the next person he plans to write into one of his books. Corby follows him to the beach, when the guy gets out of his car he starts searching through it. Glory finds him rummaging through the car and questions him. Soon the other guy is there asking what Corby is doing. When Glory snaps a picture of Corby he takes her camera away from her. Glory finds out that the other man had her come to the beach because he wants to date her, he told her he had a lead for her. Glory tells him to go home, then she tries to find out who Corby is, but he won't tell her. Corby tell her where he lives and tells her she has to be blindfolded to come to his home. The next day Glory goes to the real estate agent who sold the house and finds out that Corby O'Neal lives in the house, he's a famous author. Glory does a little investing on Corby but he know all he needs to know about her. Glory wants the lead on the reason Corby came to Cherry Falls, so she goes to talk to him. Glory asks him questions when she goes to his home, but Corby wants her, he kisses her. He tells her that all of the rumors about him aren't true. Glory leaves Corby even though he wants her to stay. Three days later Corby goes to find Glory at the diner, he feels he gave her enough time. When he finds out she is filling out a dating app he tells her she's his. Glory goes back to Corby home, they talk and he makes her dinner. Corby tells Glory he needs her around him, he gets a buzz in him when she's near. Corby tells her to stay the night with him, she tells him she will if he sleeps on top of the covers. Soon they are kissing and he asks her if he can make her come. Glory's mom calls her and lets her know someone vandalized her car, so Corby takes her home. Soon Corby and Glory are trying to figure out who did this to her car. After they asks a neighbor they find out the man she met on the beach was there. Corby and Glory decide to go and comfort the man, they think he's not home so they check his home out. When he comes home he takes a shovel and tries to hit Corby, he tells Glory he wants her to himself. Corby shots him in the leg and then calls the police, he gets arrested and is taken to the station. Corby calls his agent and lawyer, and they arrive he is released. Corby asks Glory to move in with him, they head back to his home, she isn't sure she just met him. Corby pleasures Glory then they make love. The next day Glory wakes to several missed calls from her boss, when she goes outside to call she is bombard by papparazzi. After Corby's agent arrives, Glory sneaks off and heads into work. Corby is kidnapped by the stalker lady who thinks he is the father of their child. When Glory is finished with work, she tries to text Corby when he doesn't answer she knows something is wrong. Glory comes to find out the stalker lady has a five year old upstairs and had tied Corby to a chair. When the stalker lady tries to make him drink something, he bust the chair and makes her fall down. Glory is standing behind her and she wrested with her until the cops come. The description of the book sounded interesting, especially the last line:
Secret Lane guy here. Stalk away. I can’t wait to lure you into my new home. A word of advice, though, once I’ve got you, I plan to keep you.

Buuuut it wasn’t what I expected and kind of like a bunch of stuff coming at you at once.

Corby is a famous author and he moved into Cherry Falls 6 months ago. Glory, who we were introduced to in the last book, is a journalist and runs into Corby trying to stalk and snoop in another guy’s car for inspiration for his next book.

Glory and Corby have an interesting first meeting and I’m not too sure how to view Corby’s character. He says/thinks/does some random weird stuff when he first meets Glory, like:

Glory: "I am not going to some strange man's house blindfolded, no matter how attractive he is."
Corby: "You think I'm attractive?" I mull that statement over with pleasure. "I find you attractive, too. It seems like we're on the same page."

This sounds like consent to me. I clasp her wrist and begin dragging her toward my car.

Corby: "Under what circumstances is kidnapping acceptable?"
Glory: "Never?"
Corby: "Sounds like you aren't sure. Let's test it out."

Hahhh okay.

But I kinda warm up to him later on in the book. It’s just all the other things going on around them that have me feeling a little disoriented, especially for being a shorter book. There’s 2 stalkers, one for Glory and one for Corby, who team up to stalk them both. All kinds of drama happens and it escalates super quickly. I’m just like... what is going on right now??

There’s a cute epilogue so I guess I liked that. I just didn’t feel all that much about the middle 75% of the story.

2.75⭐️

When a series releases a new book each week, well who am I not to keep downloading them onto my Kindle? 🤣 This week's selection is brought to us by Ella Goode and tells us about the best friend of our heroine in last week's book. Glory is an aspiring reporter who is always out to find a story... until she becomes part of one with the handsome writer who just moved to town. Corby is a suspense/mystery author who's got a case of writer's block... and a crazy stalker, which caused him to pick up his life in New York and move to Cherry Falls in hopes that would kickstart the creative juices again, but nothing works until he meets Glory, who's got her own issues with the opposite sex... in the form of a stalker. While they have some insane chemistry, they need to get this stalker issue taken care of before someone gets hurt or killed.

I loved meeting Glory in the last book and I'm glad we didn't have to wait long for her story - but honestly, my favorite character in this book might have to be her mom! 30 seconds after meeting Corby and she's asking him about weddings and babies. Glory's embarrassment is palpable and hilarious! 🤣 I had issues with the suspense storyline because it just seemed like it could have been fleshed out a lot more... but if it'd been a whole novel, I probably would have complained about that as well. Heh. I know myself well.

This series is so catchy. The couple in this book meet in weird circumstances, and it's all a rollercoaster from there.

Glory is a sweet and resolute reporter in a quirky town. She seizes the day in search of worthy news, but instead finds this big mysterious man. They tease each other and share funny situations.

The wry humour lives up to the man's profession which gives the plot an increasingly melodramatic flare. I liked that Corby gets his zest for life back when the meets her, and tries to take things slowly but firmly to show her he's serious about their bond.

It is a deliciously funny little romance, filled with good friends, cute dialogues, hot passion, an exciting town, and surprises to feed a reporter's life for a while.

I found it adorable when an unexpected character is welcome into the fold, and the epilogue is the perfect brooch. A series to fall in love with, no doubt.

Ella Goode has been a must read author for me from some time now but this book only adds to that distinction. Ms. Goode has a way of drawing you into her books from the 1st page to the last with her amazing storytelling and world building, and that's not always easy to do with a short story. Her characters are so delightful that you can't help cheer for their happily ever after. Corby and Glory's story is one of finding your soul mate even in the middle of trying to get a story to write. This book has everything that you could want; comedy (I laughed so hard), action, drama, danger, joy and of course hot, hot romance (by what do you expect, it is a Ella Goode book after all). This delightful book is part of the Cherry Hills series and you will definitely be sorry if you miss it, as well as the others in this gem of a series.

I thought that this was an awesome book. I loved Glory and Corby together. These two are kind of adorkable together. These two have a chance meeting but that this all it takes for them to be drawn together. There are some great "Say What?!" moments but also a lot of suspenseful moments that had me on the edge of my chair! I truly loved this book. I loved how caring Glory was at the end of the book and how alpha Corby was throughout the book. I really hope to find out more about Willow! I would highly recommend this book and Ms. Ella as an awesome author and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!

I received a free e-book copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Cherry Falls doesn’t disappoint

Author Corby O’Neal doesn’t make it too difficult for small town reporter, Glory to make him her big scoop. In fact, he cleans up his house and leaves the door open for her.

It’s insta-love for Curby when he lays eyes on Glory and she isn’t far behind. Cherry Falls finds itself the center of some drama when the reclusive author, it didn’t know it had in its midst, comes out of hiding to claim his woman.

This is the first book I’ve read by Ella Goode. I enjoyed the story, although I found it a bit disjointed at times. I loved Curby’s macabre humor and Glory is a sweetheart as she figures out she’s not writing the story, she is the story.

Looking forward to Book 5.

This book is very cute. I loved Glory and Corby. They were both writers who chose different mediums, and I loved that they had that in common.

Honestly, it was a bit slow for me. While it was a very entertaining story, it wasn’t my favorite Ella Goode book. I actually put it down...twice...which is almost unheard of with her novellas. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike it or regret reading it. At the same time, it’s not going to be one of her stories that I immediately want to re-read.

Overall, I recommend it for Ella readers and those reading the Cherry Falls series. So far, I’ve only read a couple Cherry Falls books. While they are a fun read, I can’t say I’m loving them. I’ve read Ella’s and MINK’s at this point and frankly, their individual work is superior.

Adorkable is right

Glory's got gumption, and Corby's got sex on his mind. Thankfully, that's not all this book has to offer.

Glory, small-town reporter dreaming of big news, runs into the new guy in town, Corby, who's doing research for a new novel. Sparks fly, but Corby is a gentleman (despite his constant lust for our heroine) and doesn't go all growly alpha on her immediately. When he does go alpha, he does it adorkably and casually.

There's a story for Glory, and it's not what she expects, but she (and Corby) work together on it.

That's about all I can say without spoiling anything. I love this because it's light and fun without losing the usual steam or making it seem out of place.

Another hit from Ella. I love her style of writing so much.
Like so many of her other books, this one has a possessive, a little obsessive, a little socially awkward, OTT, instantaneous kind of love. With a little thriller action bonus prize thrown in the mix.
I really enjoyed the little tidbits of humor and sass thrown around, the chemistry between the characters, the sex was hot, the ending was so sweet and satisfying.
I just love this style of romance so much. Short, sweet, and more than a little sexy. And Ella does it so well, I just can’t help but read every word she releases.
Can’t wait to get my hands on more from her.

Another adorable read from Ella Goode! Glory loves her home town but not much happens in Cherry Falls. That makes it hard to be a reporter. So a lot of her time and energy is spent looking for a story, any story. What she finds one night is a mysterious and intriguing man who just moved to town. Corby left the big city looking for something, hoping that something new would spark his creativity. What he gets is way more than he could have hoped for. These two really clicked the moment that they meet. They are perfect together and loved every minute I spent consuming their story, 5 stars!

Mystery in Cherry Falls

Ella Goode’s contribution to this series is a wonderful read. We met Glory on Mink’s story 119 Kitty Lane. I was looking forward to reading her story and it’s a great story. Glory is a reporter looking for a great story and she stumbled on a mystery man Corby. Corby is a writer how moved to Cherry Falls to get some inspiration since he’s been dry for 2 years. They met in auspicious circumstances but they both find themselves attracted to each. You have to read the story to find out how they got their HEA.

Good book

Interesting and funny. I enjoyed reading this. The MCs are likeable and fun to read about. I normally don't like to read about reporters because they always seem to be only getting close to the other person to expose some big secret about them, which seems too conniving for me. But not this reporter, which I liked. I liked her whole attitude about just wanting to be a small town reporter out to get story but not embarrass or hurt anyone.

The steam was detailed and hot but nothing adventurous. 3/5.

A fun ride

I loved this fun exciting addition to the Cherry falls collection. I have really enjoyed this series so far and loved this book.
Glory and Corby are perfect for each other from the first second you see them on the page together, they are fun together. They flirt, they bicker and they come together explosively. I really loved the intrigue to their book as well. It was engrossing, I read it in one sitting.

This book had it all ... a sexy hero, a sassy heroine, a stalker, a mansion on a secluded lane - so much fun. I don't usually like stories with reporters as main characters - not a fan of the pushy, do anything for a story trope - but Glory was great. And Corby has that whole mysterious, rich guy thing going for him. I love how these two met and that Corby was all-in from the start.
I am really enjoying the Cherry Falls books and look forward to the next.

Glory is always looking for a good story and then she stumbles into Corby O'Neal. Little does she know that meeting him will change her life for the better. Maybe she will finally open her heart.
Corby moved to Cherry Falls to help with his writers block and he may have just found the solution, Glory. But will his past come back to ruin everything?

I liked the two characters a lot but felt the story was a bit choppy in places.

126 Secret Lane was quirky, romantic, and such a sweet read! Glory was hilarious and such a boss. I loved how she was on the move the whole story to get the all the juicy stories of Cherry falls, and she still had the time to fall in love. Glory was the best part of the book for me, but her and Corby were so hot together & he was a great support for her writing/sleuthing.😂 This was a fun addition to the Cherry Falls romance series!

Wow...

I was pleasantly surprised the way this book this book turned out. Didn't see it going down the way it did. Totally didn't play attention to any if the clues at first. Loved the way the cover didn't give it away either. Even though, the cover doesn't reflect the description in the book- pet peeve of mine. But still this was a good story. I'm trying not to give too much away if you want to be surprised. It's quite steamy.

This is a good novella. It even starts out with some suspense.
Glory is a writer for Cherry Falls. Corby is an author that left the big city to try to get his writers block to go away.
What happens when they meet and they have chemistry from the start? Will all of the articles about Corby be too much?
