I'm currently reading this to my children ages 6-2 years old. We don't normally read adapted versions because I find them too watered down and I think children are much more capable of understanding than we give them credit for. However, we were given a copy of this for free and my children have enjoyed the illustrations immensely. I don't know that I would have read Heidi to them yet if they hadn't asked me to read this, just because we don't have a copy on hand and I forget about it! Definitely still worth a read aloud if you don't have the full version. I will still read the original book at some point, we still have many years of reading ahead of us (Lord willing!).
