Cricket Kendall moved to Colorado expecting to learn more about her magic and heritage. Since befriending three hot werewolves from the local pack, things haven’t gone exactly as planned.

As her eighteenth birthday looms closer and closer, her magic and abilities grow stronger than she ever imagined they could. Theo, Hollis, and Cas do their best to help and support her, but tensions are high between the long-time friends. Between miscommunication, keeping secrets, and the tentative hope that one—or all—of them might end up being Cricket’s mate after her birthday, they can barely keep control of themselves.

However, a witch’s intuition is her greatest power. When Cricket learns to trust herself and her magic, she realizes things might not have to be so complicated.

UPDATE: I seem to have been blocked from the author's Facebook group? Literally just because of this review?

When I click the link for the group (which I was a member of) with my own account, I get told the page can't be displayed. But when I log in to a friend's Facebook account and try searching for it, it easily gets displayed. I'm not torn up about not having group access because, I mean, that's hardly necessary to read a book. BUT if I really was kicked out just for leaving 3-star reviews (which is actually a really positive rating, I've one-starred plenty) then that's childish and unprofessional.

I got an ARC of this book, but any author worth their salt would know that's NO guarantee of a positive review. If, as I suspect - I could be wrong - I really was removed for my review, I recommend the author grow a thick skin fast. If she thinks a 3-star review is a bad one, she won't last long in the writing world.

Right, back to the original review, which (as you can see) I even bloody rounded up. Sometimes I just ignore the laws of maths and round down, you know.

2.5 stars, rounded up.

Okay, so I haven't FULLY read this version of the book. Let me explain. After I finished the first book, I discovered that the author had a first draft of the sequel up on Wattpad, so I went there to continue the story. Eventually I got bored, but I got through quite a few chapters first. I think those chapters pretty much are what's in this book, barring some editorial changes I presume have occurred.

This book, I couldn't finish. But I did read around 30% of it, and all my criticisms on Cricket's character come from this book.

My #1 problem is that Cricket is THE MOST MARY SUE HEROINE TO EVER MARY SUE. I cannot stress this enough. Literally cannot. Every time we enter someone else's POV, which happens fairly often, we see them gush over how perfect/beautiful/amazing [substitute superlative compliment] she is. She basically has no flaws, minus the 'cute' kind like Bella Swan's clumsiness.

GROWN WOMEN (the heroes' mothers) get into PASSIONATE ARGUMENTS over whose house the lovely French-speaking Cricket is going to have dinner at first. This is not normal behaviour... unless you're a Mary Sue. I don't mind if my heroes think the heroine walks on bloody water, I just don't want it shoved constantly down my throat. 'She's perfect' is a phrase repeated multiple times and just... no.

This is a shame, because apart from that I could have really enjoyed this book. I like that Cricket is very comfortable with her sexuality, and that the heroes are well defined. I just can't deal with this level of heroine-worshipping. It feels like the definition of wish fulfilment fantasy in a way that makes it hard to maintain suspension of disbelief.

I was so excited for this sequel and it did not disappoint! It starts off right where the first book ended and Cricket and her guys are just as awesome!

As we get closer to Cricket’s 18th birthday things heat up between her and the guys, with the same silly antics and sweetness they’ve had since the first book. I’ve reread Cricket multiple times and I know I’ll be doing the same with Wildflower.

Willow is able to write characters that draw you in and give you all the feels as a reader. Cas is my favorite, but I’m a sucker for an unexpected romantic. It’s definitely slow-burn romance, but the amount of interaction between the characters doesn’t make it feel like you need things to move faster.

I can’t wait to continue the series and am anxiously waiting the third book now!

**I received an ARC in return for an honest review. All these opinions are mine.

The 2nd installment of The Cricket Kendall series, Wildflower is every bit as sweet and hilarious as Cricket was.

Willow is my 'insta-buy' author who I've had the privilege of reading since Wattpad, her writing style is so easy to read and so sweet in her stories.

This series definitely has me hooked, I need more Theo, Rainer and Emerson in my life!

Ok so. I wanted to like this more than i did, tbh. I love a light and fluffy read as much as the next person, but for 500+ pages and practically nothing happens??? Everyone is just super obsessed with the FMC and her three guys? I found that a bit too much.

In those 500 pages, there’s only like a week a half of day to day plot. There’s no action. We still haven’t reached her birthday. And like I said, everyone is obsessed with Cricket. The way people talk is OTT cheesy. I’ve never described a character as a Mary Sue, but she is. Everything about her is perfect. She has no external flaws. Everyone wants to be her friend, and the way the people who become her friends talk, it’s like they’re trying to make friends in elementary school. Seriously, what 17/18 year olds talk like this?

I remember really liking the guys in book one, and while i didn’t hate them in this one, there were a few instances of OW drama that just grossed me out. Theo still has panties in his car from girls he used to hook up with before he met Cricket, and since that’s been a month, I found that still to be gross. Cas still has nudes on his phone, and Theo mentions he deleted his after Cricket saw Cas’s phone. Just not my cup of tea.

Also, the fact that Cas makes a joke that Theo, a 17/18 year old boy who just started his senior year of high school, has a body count of 200 (even if it’s less), is just soooo unappealing lol. You can make your teen character be a manwhore but to that extent? And it’s all because they wanted to enjoy their time before they met their mates, but of course now that they know Cricket, is when they start to feel guilty about it. So if their mate were to be another random girl, she deserves to have a mate who slept with anything with legs just to enjoy themselves before being tied down?

Cricket also has a body count, and she enjoys sex, which is great, but she also slut shames herself a whole lot. I can understand internalized misogyny, but it just doesn’t make sense with the way her character was written for her to call herself slutty all the time.

Cricket also never gets jealous. Ever. The guys get jealous of any guy who talks to her, but a girl throws herself at Theo and kisses him against his will, and she sees, and she gets angry at the girl for doing that but never jealous and never holds on to any anger. Or when she sleeps over Theo’s house and at 3 am a past hook up knocks on his door. She welcomes the girl and then invites her to her party, talking about introducing her to her brother. Even though this girl has hooked up with two of her guys. It’s just not my cup of tea at allllllll.

Also, the random POV chapters from some of the side characters just didn’t seem fitting.

I would’ve loved this just to have more action, less cheesy “I’m so in love with you” dialogue every chapter, and less OW stuff, no matter how minor. In a fluffy read, I really don’t want to see past hook ups from the guys. I guess I’m not understanding why it’s being dragged out for so long, but some people enjoy that, so kudos.

I did like the world of the witches and werewolves, though we didn’t get to see much of them this book, but finding out Cricket needs to present herself to the coven and she’s powerful, and why don’t the supes know about each other? I feel like I’ll read the next book just to find out what happens with this.

This is my second time reading Cricket's story since I first read it on wattpad. It just gets better and better. I am so glad the author took a chance and is publishing this series. The book continues to be slow burn with hot makeout sessions. We get a few new pov and I love it. The characters are so rich with depth. I love the side characters and stories as much as Cricket's story. This ends on a mellow note but not without the craving of wanting more.

Smile Like You Mean It was my introduction to Willows books (if you haven’t checked it out yet, go get it as fast as you can) and after reading her other work on Wattpad she quickly became one of my one-click authors. This sequel did not disappoint and you should definitely give it a shot if you enjoyed Cricket.

-This sequel pretty much picks up from the end of book 1 and the gang is still trying to figure out their relationship situation and get to know each other more.
-More characters are introduced and we get chapters from a few of their POVs. I didn’t particularly love some of the new characters but I hope they eventually grow on me.
-The book picks up on the level of steam but is still a slow burn. So worth it though.
-There is of course some angst and drama that contributes to the plot. You learn a little more about the world of witches and werewolves
-I adore the harem members in this book but they sometimes stink at communication. It’s my biggest issue with them but you have to also remember they are high-schoolers.

Things I’m excited to (hopefully) see: Rainer 😍, more steamy times, learning more about Crickets powers and the witch world, learning more about Alpha powers, and the harem just generally being cute together and their bonds growing stronger.

Love these characters!

I am a huge sucker for a friends to lovers romance. Add in a reverse harem and you have all my attention. I also trust this author to give a sweet and swoony romance. I love that there’s sex positivity and no slut shaming. I love the way the characters really get to know each other, and their relationships builds slowly and authentically.

This is a very character driven series so far, which is great for me, but not for everyone so I wanted to mention it. I love that all the characters are complex and distinctive, even the side characters.

There was one thing that made me roll my eyes. It feels like Cricket is sometime put on a pedestal. Like someone asked her and one of her guys if they could take a selfie with them because their friends would be so jealous. Not sure why everyone is so obsessed with them, they were treated almost like rockstars but it made me cringe a little. That was the biggest moment, but the book had these little moments where the side characters just though about their admiration and love for Cricket.

Anyway I can’t wait for the third book! I’m excited to see more of the relationships grow.

Where is the conflict?

I am kind of confused. Everyone loves Cricket except a few people, everyone admires her, the guys like her, she can do no wrong. Like it’s cool, I like the niceness of the book, but what is the point? Where is any conflict? Why are we taking so long to get to her birthday? Is it so we gain an understanding with the guys? Because I feel like that could have been established in book 1....there’s no major plot imo. We hear a lot about what they might become but there is nothing truly driving the story forward, it’s literally the day to day with Cricket and the guys.

While I do like the story in some areas, I’m getting incredibly frustrated with this slow pace toward Cricket’s birthday. I think a lot of this could have happened in book 1 and could have gotten to her birthday by then. Then after that is how they all deal with whatever happens.

I’m not quite sure why the things are playing out the way they are. I am still invested bc it is a cute simple story but I keep waiting for a shoe to drop or someone or something crazy to happen and it’s an annoying build up.

I was reading Wildflower on wattpad right before it was taken down, so I was really excited when I got the advanced copy so I could finally finish the book and write a review before it is released on Amazon Kindle. I loved the book but I was disappointed to find out that it didn't get to the part in the story I left off on so now I'm dying for the 3rd book to come out! For those of you who read Cricket's story on wattpad, there were some minor details and changes added in that I think made it worth it to re-read again since it seemed to work better following the Kindle version of the first book. I noticed some scenes when reading the wattpad version where it didn't make sense following the Kindle version of the first book so that's a plus for this new version! One thing I didn't like about the new version is that some scenes were cut out from the wattpad version where we got to see side plots from non-main characters POV. I generally don't like too many POV changes in books because I just want to know what happens to the main character, but in this series I actually enjoyed them and wished they were included in the new version or maybe if another book were to be released with the "deleted scenes" that would be cool! So overall, I love this series and I think Willow does a good job in giving each of her characters their own unique personalities that make us fall in love with them. I love how sweet the guys are on her and how nerdy Cricket is. I think Willow also does a good job of showing the insecurities Cricket and her guys have with their relationship and the challenges they will face with society while also portraying Cricket as a confident FMC. I can't wait to see what happens next when we see more into witch society and when Cricket finally comes into her full power! BTW this is my first book review ever so sorry if I'm all over the place with this review and I don't believe anything I said is an actual spoiler? So sorry if it is and I didn't check the box to hide the review because of it... 😅

Swoon!

About half way through this second book I knew this was going to be a series I needed to own, so I purchased both books and finished both in two days time (despite how hefty these books are). While this is a slow burn, the heat and chemistry between the characters is off the charts and you can tell this is heading towards some seriously steamy times. I loved every single page of the building love and lust and deep connection between these four characters. Book two ends in a safe place. I wouldn't really call it a cliff hanger but that doesn't mean I'm not going to be eagerly stalking this author now, awaiting the release of book three! I'm a little terrified for what comes next. Book three has the potential to completely shatter my heart depending on how Willow handles the upcoming birthday. Beyond the build up to the birthday, which is only a few days away in the timeline, there are several mysteries developing with Cricket's aunts' visions, the upcoming Maybon (witch convention) plus all the side characters and their struggles to find their place and acceptance with their peers and their families. I'm excited to see how this all shapes up but even more anxious to see some confirmations for Cricket and her guys. They are trying so hard to forge a new path and go against the crowd. I'm hoping whatever happens next doesn't break them. I'm "shipping" these four so hard. Lol

Sooo cute!! *** contains some spoilers ***

I enjoyed reading this second book the series and look forward to reading the next book. I am sad to say I binged read this book and didn’t sleep a wink, lol. I kept telling myself after this chapter or after this cute scene. But I couldn’t put it down. Because you can’t help but fall in love with these characters. I should be sad and anxious that the author still hasn’t gotten to the big event. But not really because of the way the author writes. The flow is awesome of this storyline. You can’t help feel like your there with Cricket, her guys and friends as they get closer to what is going to happen. The suspense is there but it’s ok because even though eventually you think that your wave length is with the author. I think that there could be so many different turns the author can take the next book. So many new characters that can change the course of the storyline you think will happen. I can’t wait to see how it all turns out! Anyways, super cute and adorable characters. I enjoyed this read and really look forward to the next one.

The second book in the Cricket Kendall series is every bit as good as the first one. So if you loved the first one, don’t hesitate to buy it!

Wildflower continues where Cricket left off, and you can really follow the relationship between Cricket and the guys. In this book, you also see a growth in her friendships with other people (like my favourite, Brennan). I just totally love the dynamic between everyone.

However, if you are looking for an action packed story, you should look elsewhere. I personally love that the story is so focused on the main characters and that you can see how they grow together, without having some big fight or climax at the end, but that’s not for everyone.

Anyways, I’m so happy that I got the chance to read the ARC, because I love all of Willows books/stories and am so happy I discovered her writing on Wattpad. The biggest reason (for me at least) to read Willows books (and to buy them without a second thought), is because I’m smiling all the way through and the stories genuinely make me feel so happy.

Book two of the Cricket Kendall series was just as well written as book one, with the added bonus of being even funnier with just as many adorable moments between Cricket and the guys. I was constantly laughing and absolutely ADORED reading this book.

Each character has depth, and the multiple perspectives really fill out the world around Cricket. The latest installment of this slow-burn series only cements Willow Hadley as one of my favorite RH authors.

I especially love the focus on how the world around the main characters reacts to their poly relationship. It all feels very realistic and adds believability to the story.

As an added bonus there was so so much LGBTQ representation in the minor characters and Willow has really created a diverse world.

*I was given an advanced readers copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. I HONESTLY think you should read this book*

I need more...like yesterday

So, I loved Smile like you mean it(the authors other book series) and for some reason I put of reading the Cricket Kendall series, believing it wouldn't be as good. Girlllllll...Boyyyyy... was I wrong! This series is better and I'm kicking myself for not reading it on watpad when I had the chance! I now have to wait until she releases it all here and I have a massive book hangover! Please Wilow, don't leave me hanging here. I loved Cricket and her men, I loved the way people reacted to Cricket which I feel is rare for RH; the MFCs are normally seen as negative society outcasts. I mean Cricket has experienced negative reactions to her love life but she's also seen as a kind popular person with a great personality. People gravitate towards her. I enjoyed that. I can't wait for her birthday, her auditiing for the musical and deepening her relationship with her men.

I am obsessed with Cricket and her boys. This is super low burn. I think that I am going to die from the amount of sexual tension happening between them. There’s this low key secrecy about becoming mated and the vision that Cricket’s aunt saw that I’m really interested in hearing more about. I love their relationship and how sweet they are together too. Cricket’s magic is ramping up fast and I can’t help but wonder what will happen when she turns 18. This is a must read ! This is the second book.

The cutest fourway ever

Could these three guys be any cuter. Cricket is amazing and I'm loving seeing her feelings for each of the guys grow and develop. One of my favourite things about this series is actually the background characters. I would love to learn a little more about Aurora in the next book. I cannot find fault in this series whatsoever. It's keeping me hooked. It's slow in such a good way, allowing for depth behind each person and their relationships. Cannot wait for the next book.

Tedious

I hate when authors use a phrase and don’t consider what it means. “Bare your teeth.” It’s not a normal human thing to do - it’s like what a dog would do. The boys are werewolves, but they’re in the human world. And Cricket? Isn’t. She bares her teeth often. If people see that? They wouldn’t quite think her nice.

It’s almost as bad as when authors use the phrase “smash our lips together.” Do you not even know the meaning of the word?

But I digress. This book. Is tedious. It’s juvenile. It has shining moments of interest and the turns into something so incredibly unhealthy that I worry about the people who read this.

I’m not talking about the polyamory. I’m talking about the ease with which they all control one another. How they fight one another. How they one up one another. It’s not a healthy dynamic and it’s built upon distrust. You can’t have a healthy polyamorous relationship without open communication. These are kids. They do stupid things. Cricket being unpopular and bullied is so laughable and the whole weird stalker thing the school seems to have is just so idiotic I’m not quite sure why I’ve wasted my time.

Writing is amazing as always. The balance between different character's points of view is masterfully done and in a way, you get a much deeper understanding of the characters.
Again, what I love the most about this book are indeed the characters.
You can feel them. How they act, speak, or even what cars they drive is really in line with their personalities. They have their differences but still fit so well together, balancing each other.
I like how it’s shown that their relationship is unconventional in this world and that most people will never fully understand how it works. But there is a difference between understanding and accepting it.
The relationship between guys and Cricket is so precious and inspiring. They try hard to make it work -as all relationships require work. It isn’t always perfect (which’s normal) but it isn’t toxic.
It is also really interesting to learn about this supernatural world with the characters and I hope we will see more witchy things in the next one! Super excited for the next one!

I stumbled upon this series by chance and read the first book “Cricket” and was blown away, I fell in love with the plot and the the characters. As someone who live paranormal and reverse harem romance this is definitely a must read!

I was so excited for this book to come out to see where the story would go, and how Cricket would develop in her relationships with the guys. I loved how you got a deeper look into witches and werewolves in this book. It is a slow burn, but it makes you giddy and excited to see what’s going to happen next between Cricket and her men. Honestly loved this book maybe even more than the first! ❤️ I can’t wait to see what happens in book 3 and where they will end up.

Definitely 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is so sweet. It’s the second book in the Cricket Kendall series and Willow Hadley does an amazing job bringing the series to life. If you haven’t read Cricket yet....well what are you waiting for?!

This book picks up right where the first ended. I just love Cricket and her guys. It’s hilarious to see the boys fighting over her and trying to win her over. I love the multiple POVs and the insight it provides in how the other characters are thinking. We get to see more of Cricket building deeper relationships with Theo, Hollis, and Cas individually. We also see relationships grow between Cricket and her new friends. The story is so colorful and vibrant it makes you feel like you’re there with them. This is a fantastic read and I’ll anxiously be waiting for book 3...

While looking for a new book to read, I stumbled upon Willow's Smile Like You Mean It and enjoyed it. Which lead me to this series and boy was I not disappointed. This slow burn series focuses on the characters' backgrounds and provides readers the opportunity to watch their budding relationship grow into something more before MFC's birthday. In the meantime, we are able to see more into the world around them and their side stories. This book further develops the world we were introduced to in book one, while delving deeper into the characters we've already grown to love and introducing us to new, soon-to-be-classic characters. While all my questions from book one haven't been answered yet, I will be patiently waiting for Crickets return in book three.

I am so happy I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Wildflower! This has got to be one of the sweetest reads ever, you guys! After reading a bunch of dark/bully romances I can’t even tell you how refreshing it is to read a well written, soft, fluffy book with a confident yet kind FMC and boys who treat her like an absolute queen and adore her. Cricket and Wildflower are both very very slow paced which ordinarily would bother me but you can’t help but enjoying all the little interactions and things that happen with a smile on your face and a wish for more. Can’t wait to read more of this series, I shall be waiting with bated breath.

"Every time Cas or Theo make a throw, I use my magic to make their balls shift just very slightly off course so none of them land in the cups. The most hilarious part is they’re too drunk to realize what I'm doing."
As the second book in the Cricket Kendall series, Wildflower did not disappoint with its sweet and engaging storyline. If you loved the first you would love this, if you haven't read Cricket and want a book to make you smile go read it now!
Be prepared that this book does not give all the answers! They take this time to develop a real connection and open up for backstory. Some other questions are introduced and book 3 cannot come soon enough.
