Sometimes heat can find you even in the depths of winter.

A couple of weeks ago, I was stolen from my home and forced to take part in an ancient fae ceremony; only someone made a mistake because I'm not fae, and if Winter's Prince finds out, I'm dead.

When an unexpected twist suddenly narrows the Royal Selection to a razor's edge, the best that I can do is put my head down and try to survive, but the Prince has other plans.

Part of me screams for me to keep him at arm's length, but the other part draws me closer to the brutally gorgeous fae, and it's going to get me killed.

He thinks I'm his soulmate, but that's impossible because I'm not even supposed to be here. So, why am I infuriatingly attracted to him? I need answers, only to get them, I'll have to play with fire and hope it doesn't burn us both alive.

2.5 stars (rounding up as I do plan to read the next one)

I was pulling out my hair so many times while reading this book. Dahlia was just annoying on a whole different level. We already know there’s mean, bitchy girls in the competition to win the hand of the prince: one girl in particular has already tried to intimidate and get Dahlia into trouble and thankfully just as it was about to escalate the Prince arrived. Dahlia decides not to say anything to him despite his asking as she’s no snitch. 🙄 It was annoying but I let it go. Then the mean girl ups the anti and she with her cronies actually cause her physical harm, Prince comes in to rescue her and again Dahlia refuses to tell him who did it.🤦‍♀️ Ok, I can even get behind this IF it meant Dahlia would get her own back (take care of the girls herself). But does she? Nooooooo. And then the mean girl murders someone and frames Dahlia for it and what does our heroine do....yes you’re right...she doesn’t tell the Prince who actually was behind the death when he asks her. 😐 I just can’t....🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

It was also strange how all of a sudden Dahlia started getting hot and heavy with the Prince...it came out of no where and so out of character for her.

It is still refreshing to read a book where the heroine doesn’t excel in the competition but alas even that didn’t last for long and we find out she is “special” 🙄🙄🙄 and not like anyone else in a thousand years! 🥱

I have no idea why I still plan on reading the next book...maybe I live in hope that the mean girl will actually get her comeuppance. 🤷‍♀️

DNF 41%. I don't do well with unintelligent heroines. It wasn't nearly as much of a problem in the first book but in this second book.................The penalty for her being eliminated is potentially her death and the death of her Pixie bff. Why on Earth did the Heroine think that getting plastered/drunk around her competition and RIGHT BEFORE being around the Prince was a good idea? You're barely getting through these trials fully sober, why would you risk your life and the life of your best friend by being that inebriated? That was the first moment that I started to dislike her. I can even maybe forgive her just risking her life like that but to risk the life of her best friend in that way was unacceptable.

The second strike, and what made me DNF, was her refusal to tell the truth about her bullies. The author tried to write it as this noble thing that she refused to "cry wolf" but it wasn't. For one thing "crying wolf" implies lying , which she wouldn't have been doing if she told. More importantly, saving bullies and abusers from the consequences of their actions is not heroic, nor does it make you a noble martyr. It makes you an enabler and helps them continue their abuse against you and others. In the first book she took responsibility for their bullying and that only led to them amping up their attacks in this book. Not only that but their actions led to the Heroine destroying the aviary of the palace and letting out birds that can't survive on their own in the wild. She's in deep trouble and quite frankly this is something that could lead to her being eliminated (death of her and her friend) but she refuses to tell what the bullies did, bc she's SUCH a GOOD person and telling on bullies/abusers is BAD, even with your life and the life of your friend on the line. What kind of thinking is that?!! Very unintelligent heroine and selfish to boot. DNF.

This series is the best Fae series I've read in years! Stolen is the continuation of Dahlia's story, where she finds herself stuck in the Winter Court of Arcadia, a fae realm. Not only is she stuck there, but she's competing for the hand of the handsome (and very sexy) Prince Cillian's hand. But all isn't what she thinks. Something's up with her sexy Prince, and Dahlia's entire understanding of who she is and where she came from is knocked off its axis. This book is exciting and sexy, and you won't put it down. So make sure your chores are done and family's fed before starting. Dinner? Who needs dinner?!

Omggg!! This author has completely blown me away! Book 1 was amazing but book 2? Holy moly! Magnificent! Of course we get some amazing steamy build up, and the adventure will have you swiping full speed as you read as fast as you can to see what’s happening next! But that isn’t even the best part! I’m serious! I know you doubt me, because what could be better than nonstop action and smokin scenes? Well, the twists my fellow reader! The twists! It was like a lightbulb firing off and exploding when I hit that end piece and. I. Am. In. Love. If you thought you knew, you were wrong. If you thought book 2 couldn’t be as good as book 1? Boy are you about to get slapped in the face with a masterpiece. Feel free to ping the author with the yelling when your lightbulb explodes too, because she has packed this book from cover to cover with EVERYTHING!

I was reluctant to start this series because I admit I wasn’t sure I was going to like it. After reading this second on the series, I am so very glad I started it. The first one was great, but this second one just blew me away. Filled with steamy non-sex (yes, you read that right!), action (not the sex kind!), character development, and secrets galore, I couldn’t put this down. I was, like I said before, blown away by the end of this book, and I really can’t wait to find out just what the heck is going on. Each book is different in its own way, and I love that didn’t see what was coming with this book. Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Meh.

I tried to like it. I wanted to like it. The story and world itself were actually quite fine, but I simply couldn't get over how much I HATED the main character. She was whiny, annoying, and frustratingly ignorant at best. Either way, a slow, dim-witted girl who is somehow simultaneously is the "damsel in distress" and the "super powered heroine" really doesn't do it for me.

Sadly, since the book is written in first person EVERYTHING revolves around this character and it makes it difficult to enjoy the actual story because of it.

Giving the book 2 stars but I'll admit - another reader may really enjoy it. It just wasn't for me.

With the scene set, this book continues from the cliffhanger of book one and develops really nicely, I thoroughly enjoyed working up to the twist in this instalment and I can’t wait to see how that pans out in book 3!

More of the same a touch spicier but still does have that YA feel to the writing

I enjoyed this more than I did book 1... more action and more revelations. It started right where book 1 ended which was a pleasant surprise. Suspicions in book 1 were kind of confirmed but more secrets and questions arose in book 2... let's see what book 3 brings!

Read this as a part of a TBR challenge since I bookmarked this series when if first came out. I really enjoyed this series. I liked the fact that although there are trials, there is more to the book as this character is finding out who she really is and where she comes from.

Two of the biggest plot twists in this story, I already knew or at least suspected. That still didn't stop me from enjoying the story or how it all came out. I love love Mira, Gullie, Melina, and Aronia! They are amazing friends to Dahlia. And they've risked much for her. The showdown is only beginning, and I feel like it's going to be a mess. There is so much to unravel about Dahlia. And I've got to know what those markings are and who she really is. I know Radulf is up to no good and I pray that Cillian can fight him! I'm so nervous for the next book because I know there are two books left. I pray my favorites survive this disaster.

Dahlia is trying to survive the Royal Selection. Dahlia is drawn more to the Prince more she is around him. Dahlia also sees a difference in the Prince at times. She doesn't know what is going on with him. Dahlia is also avoiding the truth about things that are happening to her. Dahlia has more than the competition to worry, Dahlia is more danger than she knows.

There is so much that goes in this book, I honestly don't want to spoil it. Dahlia is going to learn more about herself, the prince and everything going. There were scenes that were so hot with the Prince, it a complete non-sex scene. This book will pull you in from the first page until the last. You will want book 3 so much. I highly recommend reading this book, so good.

Dahlia's journey into the heart of Winter continues, fraught with mortal peril and the soul shattering pain of deep revelation. As she advances in the Royal Selection it becomes clearer that there is far more lurking below the surface of the mirror than can be seen with a glamoured eye. With the rise of the White Wolf, can Arcadia survive the Storm?

Words escape me. After devouring this part of Dahlia's journey, I am stunned and desparate to read on. Katerina Martinez is an artist, a master wordsmith. She has created another world that ensnares the reader, running through my mind like an eloquent designer drug and I am just another junkie desparate for the next chapter.

*Thoughts*

Stolen is the second installment in author Katerina Martinez's The Coldest Fae series. Dahlia is a human seamstress raised by three mages after she was orphaned by unknown parents. In the first installment, Dahlia was stolen by Fae to participate in a competition called the Royal Selection against women who have worked hard all their lives in order to win the competition. The winner gets to marry Prince Cillian Wolfsbane & become the commander of the Winter Courts military.

Bringing the "A" game to the Fae game!

I cannot say enough about this book! Continuing less than a week after the end of the first book TAKEN, STOLEN keeps the momentum going strong and pulls you right back into the wintery depths of Arcadia. The plot thickens, secrets are revealed, and truths are hidden. Relationships grow stronger in both friend and foe and the trials take another, more terrifying, turn. Be ready to keep your eyes glued to the pages from beginning to end because you won't want to put it down once you start!

OMG! I though book one was awesome but book two is simply fantabulous and just blows your mind. Dahlia is a fantastic kick ass character dealing with what ever is sent her way during the trials which continue. There’s more action, danger, drama, mean girls, surprises and twists and turns that will simply make your head spin! There’s heat and quite a bit of steam in this second book but also dark and sinister magic at large and then there’s friendship found in the most unlikely fae. I loved this and am really looking forward to reading the next book!

There's A few mysterious reveals, TONS of adventure, snarky comments, and an awesome female at the center of it all. Prepare yourself as it ends with a doozy of a cliffhanger! 4.5 rounded up

This is a fun, well flowing series that hits all the right notes, and imbues plenty of humor along the way. The way she interacts with Mira and the other contestants alone is hysterical well worth the read.

This series just gets better and better. I love how Dahlia is developing into an epic FMC. I love how her and Cillian's relationship is blooming. The girl gang, however, is a wonderful touch and I can't wait to find out what trouble they get into next.

I liked this more than the first.
What can I say, I'm a sucker for well done sexy scenes.
I just wished she wasn't such a special snowflake, but it is expected from these kinds of books.

This review covers all the first 3 books of the series.

book one: 4 stars
book two: 4 stars
book three: 3.5 stars

I’m not even sure where to start with all of this because I have a lot to say but I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll try and keep this as short as possible!

WRITING: could this be a new favourite indie author? I think so! Everything about this book had me clawing for more (so much so I finished all three released books in 24 hours) so that’s gotta show some talent, right?
PLOT: book one and two were definitely my favourites but that’s primarily because it focused on the selection & the trials they had to face were really interesting. I liked book three and for our main character to go on her expedition of finding answers. I have a feeling I will like the fourth book more as we are going back to where it started.
CHARACTERS: so Cillian has my heart and I honestly loved all our secondary characters! Gullie and Mira were hilarious and their interactions were great and I really liked the build up with the romance.

The only thing I can critique for all three books is that I wanted more world building and explanations for things and we didn’t get that. I was confused at some parts and wanted some more depth regarding the history of the fae world.

Overall, l would definitely recommend this series so far!

Absolutely Utterly Obsessed with this series, not only is the cover of each book beautiful but the story is sooooo good!

Dhalia is just so freaking witty and her banter with all the characters cracks me up every time. She’s so relatable and I love that about her.

This is an extremely and I mean extremely slow burn, but it doesn’t bug me at all!! This story is soooo good and I can’t wait to dive into the third book (I bought all four and I’m very glad that I did!!)

The chemistry between her and Prince Cillian is HOT 🥵! And I LIVE FOR IT!!!

The way that Katerina Martinez writes really wraps me in and I will be purchasing and diving into more of her series as soon as I’m done with this one!

Well then, book 2 just took my breath away! It was fantastic. Knocked me for a loop because I totally didn't see that coming. I mean I didn't even know what to look for. I was so focused on her I missed it. But it was awesome. I can't wait to see how it plays out. It was a beautiful thing really, Katerina wrote an amazing sequel. I absolutely love this series and I’m here for it! I love it!

So, more Survivor meets Bachelor...With a dash of that lovely slow burn romance! Still a lot of the cliché YA novel crud, but still enjoyable! Also, I want a pixie...
