I don’t even know how to rate this. While I’m enjoying the story and want Leah and Ishakan to somehow get their happy ending through all of this royal family nonsense….I have a lot of critiques.
The biggest being…..this story is majorly developed around serious racism. I don’t need to be reminded every 5 pages that the Kurkans (who have dark skin and hair and live in the desert) are “barbarians” and “savages” and no more than beasts and “are not even real humans”. Yeah…we get it ……damn. And they are sold into slavery by the white people? You can write a compelling story without targeting a real ethnic group that exists. It’s made very clear these people are of some Middle Eastern/South Asian decent. While yes it furthers the story, it’s so BLATANT. I don’t even feel like I’m pulling this comparison out of my butt….because it is said so much. Like. SO MUCH.
And the main character? So white she’s so pale. She’s so small and tiny and thin and frail. And she literally can’t grow hair on her body??? Literally what now? And don’t even get me started on the incest….
The smut is wild though. I’m here for that. Ishakan is a 10/10 green flag disguised as a red flag. So yes, I will continue reading this.
