After rebuffing Duncan’s offer to buy her out, Harrison is forced to turn to her handsome neighbor to learn the ropes of ranching.

Duncan tells himself he’s just being neighborly, but their immediate attraction soon deepens. How can he convince her that he wants her even more than his beloved land when she’s already been betrayed once before?

Julia Justiss grew up breathing the scent of sea air near the colonial town of Annapolis, Maryland, a fact responsible for two of her life-long passions: sailors and history! By age twelve she was a junior tour guide for Historic Annapolis, conducting visitors on walking tours through the city that was a hotbed of revolutionary fervor. (Annapolis hosted its own tea party, dispensing with the cargo aboard the "Peggy Stewart," and was briefly capital of the United States.) She also took tourists through Annapolis's other big attraction, the United States Naval Academy. After so many years of observing future naval officers at P-rade and chapel, it seemed almost inevitable that she eventually married one.

But long before embarking on romantic adventures of her own, she read about them, transporting herself to such favorite venues as ancient Egypt, World War II submarine patrols, the Old South and, of course, Regency England. Soon she was keeping notebooks for jotting down story ideas. From plotting adventures for her first favorite heroine Nancy Drew she went on to write poetry in high school and college, then worked as a business journalist doing speeches, sales promotion material and newsletter articles. After her marriage to a naval lieutenant took her overseas, she wrote the newsletter for the American Embassy in Tunis, Tunisia and traveled extensively throughout Europe. Before leaving Tunis, she fulfilled her first goal: completing a Regency novel.

Children intervened, and not until her husband left the Navy to return to his Texas homeland did she sit down to pen a second novel. The reply to her fan mail letter to a Regency author led her to Romance Writers of America. From the very first meeting, she knew she'd found a home among fellow writers--doubtless the largest group of people outside a mental institution who talk back to the voices in their heads.

Her second goal was achieved the day before her birthday in May, 1998 when Margaret Marbury of Harlequin Historicals offered to buy that second book, the Golden-Heart-Award winning novel that became THE WEDDING GAMBLE. Since then, she has gone on to write fourteen novels, three novellas and an on-line serial, along the way winning or finalling for historical awards from The Golden Quill, the National Reader’s Choice, Romantic Times, and All About Romance’s Favorite Book of the Year.

Julia now inhabits an English Georgian-style house she and her husband built in the East Texas countryside where, if she closes her eyes and ignores the summer thermometer, she can almost imagine she inhabits the landscape of "Pride and Prejudice." In between travelling to visit her three children (a naval officer son stationed in Washington, DC, a textiles and design major daughter who cheers for University of Texas at Austin, and a mechanical engineering major son also at UT Austin) keeping up with her science teacher husband and juggling a part-time day job as a high school French teacher, she pursues her first and dearest love--crafting stories.

To relax, she enjoys watching movies, reading (historical fiction, mystery, suspense) and puttering about in the garden trying to kill off more weeds than flowers.

It was fine. Nothing to worry about here. Scuzzy ex-partners causing trust issues, trust issues discussed, trust issues eventually overcome. Some kissing, an occasional undoing of a button, a relatively straightforward trajectory towards holy matrimony. A couple of coyotes thrown in for good measure. Cows.

And a few visits from brothers and potential romantic interests for the rest of the books in the series. Would I read them? Depends on if they were on offer on Bookbub or not. I don't think I would deliberately hunt them out but that doesn't mean others won't find the series utterly charming and unthreatening to the wider moral order.

Will their past hurt determine their future ...

I know the author for her historical romances, why I was curious about her foray in the western romance world. I liked I was able to find some common ground with those finally not so different worlds, honor, respect, patience.

This is the story of Duncan and Harrison second shot at love. Both had been deceived and had their trust shattered, having put their hopes and love in some not deserving or unworthy being. But for Harrison the wound is still raw and bleeding. So much she doubts of herself as a woman. In her line of work she was good, yet she now wants to fulfill her father’s dreams.
Not easy when it is far away from what you usually do. Yet she is not a person to be easily deterred, she got a level head to accept help when it is necessary. If only suspicious thoughts did not creep into her mind about her rescuer’s true motive. The same man who awakens desires she thought she has buried deep.
Duncan despite his dreams to regain one day his family’s land, is a honor bound and honorable fellow, never he will act disloyally to get what he wants. Yet he is somewhat caught in a web of his own making when he falls for the woman who hold part of his dreams in her hands. Still, every day with patience and respect, he tries to show her he is no cad, just a man who will wait for her until she is ready to love again, if she is willing.

I loved how their relationship is slowly built, from defiance to respect then trust and patience. And when a grain of sand disrupt their fragile equilibrium, they try to figure out a way to patch their bond. A sweet second chance story.

One of my favorite aspects about cowboy romance is the picturesque scenes the author paints in my mind. Living in the suburbs, close to everything, I more than appreciate the beauty of the landscapes in places such as the Hill Country in Texas where this story takes place. I love the idea of owning land that has been in the family for hundreds of years. Where I live, that isn't the norm. That said, I find myself longing for some of the places I read about. And The Rancher did an incredible job of bringing me there.

This story is about the love of the land, legacy and loyalty. It is a story of two people who will have to learn to trust again in their decisions and each other if they want a truly happy and fulfilled life. This book is about carrying on a legacy.

Duncan McAllister grew up on land such as I described. Having lost his mother at a very young age, and then his father while barely in his teens, Duncan takes on the responsibility of running the ranch. Through financially tough times, Duncan's stepmother had to sell off some of the generations-old McAllister land. Growing up, Duncan's only goal was to buy the land back but unfortunately the gentleman who bought it loves it just a deeply and refuses to sell. And when he dies unexpectedly, the land is left to his daughter Harrison.

Harrison is devastated at what life has thrown at her recently. Her heart is overflowing with sadness. Because of recent events, Harrison is no longer a trusting person. Despite her inexperience, Harrison is determined to carry on the legacy her father has left for her. It is not going to be easy and she knows that. She also knows that there are people who want to buy the ranch property from her and she worries what they'll do to make that happen.

I'll tell you that the relationship between Duncan and Harrison builds steadily, but slowly due to Harrison's as well as Duncan's trust issues. Although I felt Duncan was sincere, there were more than a few times I became frustrated on his behalf because of Harrison's behavior. I felt she gave off too many mixed signals. In the end, both Harrison and Duncan became the couple I knew they would be. Their love for each other was believable and they each put the other's concerns before their own. Both seeming to make sacrifices for the other but in the end both gaining everything they dreamed of.

The Rancher is book one in The McAllister Brothers series in which I was given an advanced reading copy. This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. :)

This is the first book in a new series & I loved it. I don’t read many cowboy books but love a good one & this is a very good one. Very well written with lovely descriptions of Hill Country & Whiskey River, a very well paced story & strong characters added to my enjoyment. I loved both Duncan & Harrison, both aren’t afraid of hard work, both have been hurt & both are attracted to each other. I loved how their attraction grew but also how their friendship grew & grew & how they fell in love. I also loved how Harrison overcame her insecurities. I look forward to the rest of the series

An engrossing novel, this story kept my interest from the opening chapter. One could only feel for Duncan McAllister as he sees the land that had belonged to his family for so many years, being taken over by someone else, albeit a good steward of the ranch. When his neighbour suddenly dies and his number-crunching daughter takes over the property, Duncan feels sure that she won't be sticking around. Unfortunately, he manages to anger her when he makes his approach, not realising that she is dealing with far more than her father's death. Harrison has been betrayed by the man she thought would be her partner for life, and Duncan's offer knocks her off-kilter. However, when she is caught in a tricky situation, it is Duncan who comes to the rescue. Dealing with the prickly rancher's daughter makes for interesting times, but Harrison comes to realise that under the cowboy hat there is a good man who willingly looks out for his neighbour, that is until a snake in the grass stirs up trouble. This well-written Western romance has a good plot, keeping one entertained throughout and the novel closes on a happy and romantic note. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Duncan McAllister is a hardworking cattle rancher in Whiskey River. He loves the land. His goal is to buy back the acreage that hard times forced his family to sell. Mr. Scott now owns the property. With his sudden unexpected death, his daughter, Harrison, is struggling to take over for her father. She's struggling. The loss of her Daddy and the betrayal of her live-in boyfriend has devastated her. Duncan agrees to help her I love how honorable and caring he is. After a rough start Harrison and Duncan grow close. I love the attraction that sparks between these two. I sighed when he called her "Cowgirl". Harrison is intelligent and passionate about learning to be a rancher. I admired her strength of character. I was sorry that she lacked confidence in her ability to find love. Unfortunately Duncan has learned through a broken engagement that he needs to guard his heart. I wanted them to trust each other and take a chance on the future. Julia Justiss made me care for her characters. I wanted them to find happiness. I hated to think that someone might be trying to force Harrison to sell her ranch. I knew that Duncan would protect his lady. I can see that the McAllister Brothers are going to be a handful. I can't wait to see what happens next . The oldest has found his HEA. Now it's Grant's turn.

This is the first book in a new series featuring the McAllister brothers who live and work in Texas. This first book concerns mainly the oldest brother, Duncan, who works the family ranch and strives to raise enough funds to buy back the land they were forced to sell a decade ago. When the owner of that land suddenly dies maybe this will be his opportunity to get it back?

Harrison Scott is devastated when first her boyfriend and business partner runs off with their intern and most of their money. She returns to her father’s ranch and days later he dies. Unsure what to do next, she knows she has to keep the ranch viable and sets out to learn all she can about ranching and continuing everything her father has set up. . . . but can she trust Duncan to actually help her?

This is a story of betrayal, mistrust, losing confidence and new opportunities. It is a story which starts with tragedies piling up on one another and ends with a heartwarming HEA, with plenty of twists en route. It is a lovely start to a new series and I look forward to reading the stories featuring Duncan’s brothers!

Thank you to Tule Publishing for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

The Rancher begins The McAllister Brothers series with a romance that almost seems doomed from the start, but never fear, the heart knows where it belongs. Harrison has had the worst run of bad luck, the most recent was when her boyfriend (who was also her business partner) decided that the grass was greener and took off with their intern… and probably more importantly, all of their clients. Totally destroyed, Harrison returns home where even more upheaval is awaiting her. Harrison is not a woman who can trust lightly anymore, that been destroyed by betrayal. Now she has, perhaps, the biggest decision of her life ahead of her… whether to trust her heart again when all logic says not to.

Duncan has made a promise to reclaim property that was sold off years ago for financial reasons, the sale never felt right and he’d vowed to get it back but it’s always been just beyond his reach… until now. The owner has recently and suddenly died from a heart attack, his daughter is a city girl with a successful career, and Duncan can see no reason why Harrison would not sell the property to him. Unfortunately, Duncan is stepping into a situation that he knows none of the histories of, so his seemingly calculated way of buying the property immediately after Harrison was dumped, destroyed, and grieving her father’s death might not have been the right move. To his credit, this cowboy had no clue of all that, but it still factors in with the decisions made. It’s going to be a bumpy ride for these two on their way to a happy ending. Funny how actually working together, learning important lessons, and really seeing each other can change a mind or heart.

The Rancher gave me everything I need and love in the first story of a new series, interesting situations, intriguing characters, the beautiful word pictures that bring the ranch and events to life in my imagination, and the hints at what the future holds for this series. Harrison and Duncan were both emotionally wounded in their own ways, although for Harrison that was so recent as to still be an open wound. Equally stubborn and each believing they are right, this couple will go through trying times, changed attitudes, and some growing as they travel through this adventure into a lifetime love. I had an absolute blast with these characters. Annoying at times, bantering at others, swoon-worthy the next, and always right for each other if they’d only acknowledge that fact. I enjoyed myself in this world and cannot wait to return for the next brother’s story.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from Tule Publishing. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Duncan is the oldest of the McAllister siblings, he’s worked the land his family has owned for as long as he can remember, and finally things are going his way, the land that use to belong to them is almost within reach, then in one sweep all his dreams come crashing down! How can he fulfil a promise he made to get back the land his stepmother had sold?

Harrison has had enough, losing her business partner/boyfriend was bad enough, but to find out he took clients and stole money was the last straw. Going home to lick her wounds seems like the best course of action.
Then to add salt into the wound, she loses her father to a heart attack!

It’s not exactly love at first sight for Harrison and Duncan. They’ve known of each other for the last ten years, but not had an awful lot to do with one another.
But losing her father has Duncan feeling sorry for her, he lost his own father and knew how close Harrison was to her dad.
He comes to make an offer for the land that was sold to Harrison’s father. He goes away angry and empty handed!
But over time they come to an understanding, and when Harrison needs help she turns to her neighbour.
Spending time in such close proximity has them both taking another look at one another in a different light.

The first book in a trilogy of McAllister brothers.
Beautifully written, you could imagine yourself riding out and viewing the magnificent countryside. Seeing all those bluebonnets and watching as the cattle graze.
The scenes just came to life through the authors writing.
Duncan wasn’t really making me smile at first, he gave me the impression of an arrogant landowner, yes his family might have owned all the land, but he gave off a entitled vibe!!
Harrison I really liked and felt so sorry for. Being taken for a mug by the boyfriend was bad enough, losing him as a business partner stung, all that she could cope with as long as she had her father to give her love and support. So when she loses him, your heart just breaks.
I did like how they worked together, the snarky comments and witty comebacks.

So can Duncan really show the woman he’s fallen for how much she means to him? Or will the past get in the way of Harrison really trusting Duncan?

A really good read, and one I’d recommend happily.

And now I’m eager to read the next book in this trilogy......

This is Duncan McAllister and Harrison Scott's story.
Bringing his Chevy pickup to a halt in front of the locked cattle gate, Duncan McAllister set the brake and climbed down.
Stones crunched under his boots as he walked down the trail that ran along the ridgeline to a small, flat plateau overlooking the valley below.
He tipped his hat back, gazing up at the cloudless, late-February sky, its fierce blue punctuated by the backlit figure of a red-shouldered hawk riding the thermals over the valley.
“Beautiful day, isn’t it?” Scott said, dismounting by the fence to hold his reins loosely in his hand.
“You remember my daughter, Harrison, don’t you?” “Yes. Nice to see you, ma’am,” Duncan said, to which she replied with a cool nod.
which she replied with a cool nod.
“Honey, you’ll recall that Duncan’s the McAllister who runs the Triple A— I’d call him the handsomest of the McAllister brothers if he weren’t always trying to buy back my land.”
I recommend reading.

First book in the trilogy. Love of land, life, and legacy.

Duncan McAllister, oldest brother, runs the ranch that has been in the family for generations. His mother died when he was young and his father in his teens. His step mom had to sell of part of the ranch to pay the mortgage. This never say right with Duncan who swore to get it back, however, he still has not been able to afford it yet. Duncan was engaged to a spoiled "city girl" as he calls her. She broke off the engagement when she knew he would never sell the ranch and move to the city.

Harrison Scott, bought the portion that was sold as it has been his dream to retire to a ranch. Now with his wife dead and his daughter, who has the same name, a successful tax accountant.. Miss Harrison just got dumped, in a dear John letter along with her business partnership resolved and her bank account. So back to dad's ranch she goes only to lose her dad from a heart attack two days later.

Wanting to keep her dad's dream going she decides to run the ranch. When her ranch-hand gets hurt Duncan offers to help and teach her what she needs to know. The two have their ups and downs due to past hurts and having to learn to trust and believe again.

As things go good something always happens to make them take two steps back. Then she gets an offer that makes it clear what she wants. And if Duncan really wants her.

In the end both get their hearts desire. The bumps along the way just shows how they overcome the obstacles out before them. The banter and sarcastic remarks the throw out to one another are great. The wooing Duncan does in the end is awesome for an old fashion gentleman cowboy that he is.

I know you will enjoy this story and all the creative description of the town and ranches. It will have you feeling as if you are right there with them.

The Rancher is the first in The McAllister Brothers Series taken place in the Hill Country of Texas. The Hill Country land is such a lovely backdrop to this story of family, legacy, and love. Written by Julia Justiss it is a heart felt story of two people who want to honor the past and make a new legacy for the future. Duncan McAllister wants to repurchased family land sold off to save the ranch, while Harrison Scott wants to make a go on the land that her father bought and loved. Two worthy ideas but ones that are at conflict with each other.

These two are wary of each other so a trust must be slowly built before a solution comes to be. Harrison especially has been hoodooed in the past so I don’t blame her for being concern about the motives of others. Still everyone is not like her ex so shouldn’t be judged as such. The author draws you into their story with you wanting them to find not just a dream but a love too.

An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I liked the first book in Julia Justiss' McAllister Brothers series. In The Rancher, readers are introduced to Duncan McAllister. Eleven years ago part of the family's Triple A Ranch was sold to Harrison Scott. It's Duncan's dream to some day buy it back. Mr. Scott's twenty-eight year old CPA daughter, also named Harrison, moves from Dallas to Whiskey River to take over the ranch when he dies. She knows she can't sell it because it feels like home and she can feel her father's presence all around her. Unfortunately, her ranch hand Juan, was butted by a calf's mother when they were tagging newborns. So, Duncan agrees to help her out on the ranch until Juan feels better. Duncan and Harrison have both experienced rejection by people they loved and aren't looking for romance. But there is an undeniable attraction between them that they do their best to resist. This is an entertaining book with interesting/likable characters. Justiss makes it easy to immerse yourself in the story. I am ready to read The Cowboy, the second book in the series!

The Rancher is the first in The McAllister Brothers series. This is a sweet, old-fashioned cowboy romance about finding the importance of family, love and legacy. Harrison loses her fiance, home, business and her Daddy all in the matter of days, leaving her reeling and facing a new future. She sets her heartbreak aside and is determined to maintain her daddy's dream of ranch life alive. Duncan McAllister's goal is to reclaim the family land that had to be sold off and carry on the family legacy. Duncan approaches Harrison with an offer thinking she wants to return to her city life but instead he faces hostility. When Harrison finds herself in trouble, Duncan rushes to her aid and so begins their friendship. The story that follows is one of overcoming grief, finding comfort in friendship and discovering a true passion for the land and cowboy love.

I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.

The Rancher is a phenomenal western romance by Julia Justiss. Ms. Justiss has provided readers with a well-written book populated with a fantastic cast of characters. Duncan wants the land they lost when he father died back, but at least he knows the man that owns it now is a good steward for the land. Harrison returns home after visiting her father to find the locks have been changed, her partner has cleared out the business account and stolen all their clients. She no sooner returns to her father's ranch and he passes away. Duncan offers to buy back their land from Harrison, only to offend her in the process. Duncan and Harrison's story is packed with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I totally enjoyed reading The Rancher and look forward to my next book by Julia Justiss. The Rancher is book 1 of The McAllister Brothers Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

The Rancher by Julia Justiss, book one in her McAllister Brothers series, was an enjoyable, sweet, heartwarming tale of ranch and small town life. Duncan McAllister has worked hard to make the family ranch profitable, so he can buy back the portion of land hard times forced them to sell a decade ago. When the owner of that land unexpectedly dies leaving the land to his city-based daughter, Duncan believes the opportunity to regain his land has finally arrived. CPA Harrison Scott escaped to her daddy’s Hill Country ranch after her business partner boyfriend ran off with an intern and all of their clients. Her father’s sudden death leaves her floundering, trying to figure out what to do; rebuild her professional career or keep the ranch, her father loved, going. Despite his offer to buy her, Duncan agrees to help Harrison learn the ropes of ranching. Though it started out as just being neighborly, Duncan and Harrison find themselves attracted to one another as they work together. This magnetic attraction grows, the more time they spend together, setting off sparks and fireworks. Duncan finds himself falling her, wanting her more than the land; now to convince her of this. After recently being betrayed, it is going to take a touch of magic and a grand gesture for Harrison to believe him.

Ms. Justiss wrote a sweet, heartwarming tale of ranch and small town life filled with strong magnetism, sizzling chemistry, wonderful dialogue, and endearing characters giving Harrison and Duncan a chance at forever love. I highly recommend The Rancher to other readers.

This was a fun story. Duncan was trying to balance his love of his land, the desire to repurchase what had been sold, and his feelings for Harrison. Her past had her running for a place she always felt comfortable and found a desire to work the land and love it. Misunderstanding almost kept these two apart. With the strength to believe what they knew of each other to be true, they found their way to a happy ending. I loved the sweetness of Harrison, felt her pain of rejection, and admired her determination. Duncan was so protective of Harrison, and he had such a big heart even when he thought he would lose his dream. I recommend this story and look forward to the next in the series.

I received an ARC of this story, and this is my unsolicited review.

This sweet cowboy romance takes readers to a ranch near Whiskey River in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Both Harrison Scott, a maths nerd named after her father, and Duncan McAllister, born and bred a rancher, are decent, hard-working people whom I admired from the first. Both have been betrayed by people they thought they loved and both are protective of their hearts, Harrison particularly so. I loved watching Duncan using old-fashioned techniques to slowly and gently woo her. I also loved learning a little about cattle ranching through Harrison’s eyes as she and Duncan worked to tag and record the newborn calves on her property. This has been such an easy book to read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to the next in the series.

This is the first book in the McAlister Brothers Series. Duncan runs the family ranch, over the years they had to sell off some of the land to make ends meet. It has always been his dream to buy back the land some day. When said landowner suddenly dies he starts to make plans. Harrison has come to Whiskey River to decide if she wants to sell her daddy's ranch or run it in his honor. What started out as a struggle of wills turns into a flirty friendship. When Harrison needs help on the ranch Duncan helps her himself. He teaches her about ranch life and she introduces him to the wonders of good wine. Both are guarded because of past heartbreak. Can their hearts win out over a ranch they both want? Great read!

Duncan
Harrison

Harrison has returned to Whiskey River to her Dad’s ranch after her boyfriend left her, dissolves their Partnership and cleaned out their business account. Shortly after returning her Dad passes away suddenly and Harrison is trying to decide if to stay and run the ranch. Duncan has the ranch next to Harrison’s Dad’s, and actually a part of his ranch was once in Duncan’s family’s. Duncan starts helping Harrison and what starts as friendship could build to more. This is a very good book that is a fast, sweet read. Duncan is a gentleman and helps Harrison as she heals from all that has happened to her recently. Harrison is a very honest and appreciative of Duncan’s help. I liked both characters. I would read more books by this author and in this series.

Julia Justiss’ first book, The Rancher, in The McAllister Brothers series is filled with heartwarming moments...juxtaposed with moments that were also heart wrenching...Harrison’s journey of heartbreak on several fronts and then her self discovery of her worth and finally her belief in Duncan was rewarding and left me with a smile in my heart for the couple.

This is a clean and sweet romance that will surely leave other readers with a smile in their hearts as well. I’m definitely looking forward to Grant and Brice’s stories to complete The McAllister Brothers series.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Duncan McAllister is a hardworking rancher of the Triple A ranch. He lives and breathes the land he works. Harrison Scott's family owns a section of land that used to belong to the Triple A ranch. When her Father passes away unexpectantly she finds herself wanting to keep her daddy's dream alive and run the ranch. After a failed relationship and CPA business she decides she's going to dive in and keep the ranch running even if that means accepting help from Duncan her neighboring rancher. I absolutely loved this small town cowboy romance and all of the characters! Can't wait to read book 2 in the series.

3.5 STARS - ROUNDED UP

I dislike when a story leaves something hanging. In this, it was who was damaging her ranch? It is hinted at who may be causing the destruction, but no closure. As another reviewer stated, maybe in one of the other brothers stories.

A touch of drama, likable characters, misunderstanding that didn't last long, clean with only kisses, romance builds slowly because of trust issues for both. Some "ex's" cause some ripples.

No cheating by our MC, no cliffhanger except what I stated, HEA, and clean. I can't improve on the blurb but just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase. (ljb)

I really had a hard time with the lead female character being named Harrison, every time I read that name I am thinking man, when I finally got used to that it got more enjoyable and I really liked the characters but wished each of them would quit comparing each other to their ex’s who had done them wrong and expecting them to do the same thing to them.
But I keep reading and waiting to see if there would be a HEA or if the Ex Factor Hangup would break them up.
I was given an ARC in exchange for my review.

Duncan has been working hard making the family ranch profitable so that he can get the land back they were forced to sell years ago. The owner of that property dies and leaves the property to his daughter. Harrison comes home after her boyfriend steals their home and ending their accounting business. Duncan and Harrison begin to spend time together and sparks fly. Will she choose to stay or head back to the city. Great characters with plenty of steam. An entertaining and emotional read. I liked it.

This was my first read by this author and from what I can determine these books can be read as standalone stories. This was Duncan and Harrison’s story.

The preview gives a pretty good overview of the premise of the story so I don’t think I need to elaborate any further on that. This story was pretty uneventful in my opinion. It was about two people with trust issues finding their way back, together. There was some romance, an ok storyline, likable characters and no sexy time…kisses only. Overall it was just ok for me…⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great Western Romance

This was a great example of Western culture and romance. It is a clean romance that has a handsome man and a woman who has been hurt by a handsome man. She was made to feel like a nerdy bookworm who doubts her worth! This book brings two heart broken people together with a shared love of the land. You will love the way it brings them together. Well written by the author and it comes in a series involving the hill country of Texas. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

I enjoyed this book. It was an easy read, and I feel like the main characters were pretty relatable. Both Duncan and Harrison have been through it with crappy exes. Harrison is brought (forced?) back to Whiskey River, where she starts getting to know Duncan more. I feel like there was a lot of back and forth, that could’ve been left out, and given us more of both characters. But I still thought it was a good read and will try to read the rest of the series. I found myself wanting so much more throughout the book.
