I've riled the beast, and now he's out for my blood, but what could I do when he crossed a line that should never have existed? He pushed me over the ledge and left me to my inglorious fall.
It's my senior year of high school. I should be learning how to live without my mom and enjoying the last of my freedom before the responsibilities of being an adult hit me. Instead, I've been battling the inner demons of a beautiful boy with a tin heart.
But I got my revenge, exposing him for the lying cheating jerk he is – except now, he's coming at me more passionately than before, and despite his hate, it's hard to look past the pain behind his beautiful eyes. He's the boy I might have loved, and I'm the girl he threw away.
I guess it doesn't matter because bad boy Colton Theroux never could understand that I'm not who I was, and I will never back down again.
He hates me so bad? Good…because I hate him too.
Can Finn forgive her bad boy? Buy Hate So Good today to find out!
★★★Author’s Note: This is book two of a trilogy (book 1 – 2 are Finn and Colt’s story) and contains strong language, violence, and sexual situations some may find triggering.
Hi! I’m Nina. I love to read. Obsessively. No joke. Just ask my husband. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Pursued a graduate degree in Forensic Psychology in the great NYC and settled in Phoenix.
I’m an avid Elvis Presley fan, a Tudor history aficionado (or at least I like to think so), and a zombie/end of the world junkie, who happens to also be a sucker for a happy ending! Yes, I see the contradiction.
On those rare occasions when I am not engrossed in a good book, or writing my own, I can be found cuddled up to my furry companions (the dogs not my husband) and relaxing with my best friend (my husband not the dogs).
I love books across all genres and can’t seem to keep myself in a single lane when I create my own stories, so if it seems as though I can’t make up my mind, it’s because I can’t. Heh.
Holy heck-ums! Nina Lincoln continues with the crazy and her obvious love of all teen horror/slasher/psych thrillers (especially the campy ones).. You have bully(ies). You have games within games within games (which was actually well done as you really can’t tell how involved everyone is with the lies). You have secrets galore. You have teens camping in the woods overseen by incompetent faculty. And we ALL know nothing good comes of teens in any type of woods. We even get an iconic horror image late in the book of Finn walking down the road…I shall say no more. OMG, we even have cackling villains!
OK. It could be that my take on the story is VERRRRY different from others who read it. I didn’t go down the emo road with these characters. Instead, I felt like breaking out the popcorn and watching the OTT dramatics unfold and cackling along with the villain.
I see there’s a third book in this series that deals with one of the side characters, Ramie. We know she went through a lot (off screen) so going into her story I suspect will actually be a darker read. Hmm. Not sure how I feel about that. It’s hard sometimes switching tracks from the tone of one book to another. I may try out another Nina Lincoln book first just to get an idea of her writing style. These first 2 books could simply have been out of the norm.
Still I thoroughly enjoyed these first 2 and would def re-read at some point when I need a good laugh...(maybe it is just me...I wonder).
This is a review of the duology which are Finn and Colt.
The writing is fine but the story is weak and goes around in circles with repetitive dialogue. The reason for the initial bullying was never provided. Then there's a sudden reversal by Colt towards Finn and then suddenly a U turn where he goes against her and then another turn towards her, it was a bit ridiculous in the end. How many times does Colt have to "freeze" out Finn? What exactly were the games being played - everything seemed to be a game and it was unclear why. The ability of the characters to switch between schools was dizzying - really, you can just pitch up at a different school at the drop of a hat? Colt's backstory seemed to be more for shock than anything else especially the "twist" with the stepmother. It was underdevelopped and didn't seem to really go anywhere
The story seemed to lack depth. Unfortunately I could see the ending and who the "fan" was a mile away and the climax was too contrived, like a bad horror movie.
I remember when I was like that.. liked a boy who pushed me into the ground for no reason. But I was maybe 5-7.. The MFC was soo silly. The back and forth. The pain I felt with every betrayal was real but at the same time my inner self is shouting “you set yourself up, girl.” Once a cheater always a cheater… have some self respect. I know Colt had demons but seriously the cruel way he and his friends played with people was sick. Why didn’t Finn take the option to just move.. 🤦♀️ because there wouldn’t be a story. It’s like watching a scary movie where the obvious next death is the girl running up the stairs instead of the opposite direction.. except in this story she naively does it again and again. I almost was psychoanalyzing the girl calling it “daddy issues” And the constant beat downs… two ⭐️ ⭐️ because I actually wanted to know who it was… even thought I suspected Teddy the whole time.
It’s not that the h is dumb - it’s that she ended book 1 with such YASSSSS BITCH vibes. So anticlimactic seeing she takes him back at like 20% of book 2. Grovel? Lmao, this wouldn’t be high school bully romance if there was grovel.
Won’t bother with the spoilers tag - that’s how obvious the stalker is. But seriously, and I’m not trying to be a dick.... but... Teddy’s ability to basically build his own little army was weird and kinda funny.
Anyways I AM going to finish this series but only because... well fuck, I’ve come this far.
I knew who the stalker was in the first book. This book was sooo drawn out. Still not a big fan of the boyfriend. MC was alright. Only told from one perspective, I have questions that were never answered about the boyfriend among certain things. I don’t want to knock the author, she did a pretty good job keeping her plot in order. I guess this series just isn’t my scene. *shrugs*.
It is my first book read by this author. The first book was better than the second book. Many facts do not add to the reader. The plot is all messed up, meaning there is a stalker and a girl. The stalker is a teenager with a disability. How he convinces his minion to do his dirty work is a mystery, and above everything else, it is not realistic. Although the stalker Teddy blackmails his minions into doing his work, they must be mindless for the things that he requests them to do. Then there is the camping; Colt is hurt, and his friends Hayden and Dirk tell Finn to run. She runs in the middle of nowhere in the forest by herself. The boys stay with Colt. Why did not one of the boys go with her? It did not make any sense. At the same time, a disabled boy gets the upper hand in all of this. The police might not be doing anything the first couple of times Finn called, but when the threats get more serious, I believe the police should be more concerned. Stalkers are well known for criminality. They are dangerous and unstable. Nowadays, the police take serious consideration regarding stalkers. The foundation of book two is based on idiocy. I gave it three stars because I liked better the first book. Book two was not necessary. I wasted time reading an unnecessary book. I skimmed throughout the book.
This was definitely a rollercoaster! I knew who the “fan” was!! I wasn’t surprised on that front but I was still like wow how it played out! Fin went through soo much, and I felt like honestly she should’ve just left m, but i know that wouldn’t have made the story!! I get that she loved Colt and pf course i’m glad they got together but I wish she would’ve protected her heart more. Like at times I felt like she shouldn’t have forgave him so easily or just push stuff to the side. Like she would see his reactions and brush it off, only questioning it as long as the look last and then be in total bliss. I get when you in love that can happen, but if happened repeatedly and I feel like she missed the signs. Even though Hayden is a Ho, I actually liked him. I still wonder if their friendship really ended because of the games like is that really why their hate ran deep? But overall I couldn’t put either books down.
I was less interested in this book than the first. I was extremely disappointed with the “big reveal” of the Villain, which was no surprise as I already had figured it out a long time ago. It was very anticlimactic. Like really the guy in the wheelchair was able to break in to the house, do all of this shit, order other people around—like over 10 people with blackmail?! This would be extremely difficult for him in my opinion, even if he was ripped as hell. Mmmmmm….come on now if they were up to killing people to hide their secrets for this dude….then why wouldn’t they just kill him?!?! It makes no sense unless he was easily able to physically harm them himself as well. Just did not work in the end for me. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Sorry, not sorry.

The one with the paper crane. This book picks up where the first left off. There’s repetitive dialogue incase you missed it. There’s also the frequent use of descriptive words that annoyed me. Finn is back on her bullshit with Colt. Hot and cold behavior that leaves you wondering “wtf is she thinking??”. There’s a “fan” also known as a stalker. It’s pretty obvious as to who it is, but you’ll be thrown around for funzies. Lots of unanswered questions surrounding Colt and the history of this whole “game”. Not to mention how he’s propositioned by his stepmom and all that entails. Lots of flimsy side characters that leave loads of character development to be desired. Not going to read the last book in this series.

Oh sweet Jesus! Finn and her spit fire mouth! I love her strong persona. She wasn’t taking any shit from Colt. She was so hurt by Colt but instead of drowning in her pain and misery, she battles with Colt and I love the back and forth banter between them, and how she always gets the last laugh then first to walk away... She has this take no-shit attitude and I love love it! I had a lot of fun in the beginning of this book then at about 40% I got a bit bored after realizing three FAILED attempts on her life. I mean talk about cat lives... It kinda dragged from there for me since I already had a good hunch on who the FAN was early on so it kinda became meh. I’m rating this a 3 star...
I KNEW IT! I called that. Finn and Colt grew a lot in this book and I loooovveeed how Finn stood strong against him when needed. She is a strong character which obviously showed in the first books (the unheard of amount of fighting) but she she thinks things through and it was beautifully written all the hard choices she had to face. Colt was Colt but damn when his emotions come out to play its a page turner. Overall a brilliant read. A different take on your average bully read series, which is hard to come by so I'm very happy I found.
Hey Nina, even though I figured it out, the journey there is a tension-filled rollercoaster. I don't think I have read any other story like this before. Talk about a push and pull. I love the HEA, but there are times where I thought, "it is not going to happen." The spice is just as good as the first book, but it's really the storyline that drives this romance. Enjoy.
Ok so the two books about C and F was a rollercoaster… so much happens and I loved the pulls and twists and everything in between 😌
For some bits the story was slow and a bit repetitive but I actually feel like that helped the story along.
Not to spoil anything but I figured out who the fan was in like the first introduction BUT I felt like no it can’t be true… it have to be that one or that one …!! But F me I was right 😅😅
I guessed the fan from book one. I thought it was pretty obvious. With that said I still read both books because I wanted to know the why and how. We did get that.
I liked the main couple together. Wished the epilogue was a little longer. I want to know what their future holds.
Overall okay series. I liked the author and no editing errors that I found.
First books I have read by this author and I finished both in two days and I can not wait for Hate so sweet! Definitely check these books out you will not be disappointed!
Woah i have never hated a character and loved them at the same time. Colt was awful in so many ways to Finn but you could also see just how much he lived her. I really didn’t see the identity of the stalker coming at all, such great writing. Cant wait for Remie’s book
I love these books as they have everything in one . Bully romance, sexy bits , rollercoaster of emotions and a thrilling darkness that brings you to the edge of your seat. It truly is amazing .
Omg is all I can really say, it’s got everything a good books needs but of suspense, romance, smut, I was literally crying at the right scenes, loves the little breadcrum hints at the stalker. Honestly such a good read
HIW MANY TIMES DO YOU HAVE TO BE KIDNAPPED TIL YOU LEAVE?!?! WTF!!! This the dumbest crap I've ever attempted to read! This gurl deserves everything that she got! Oh she have money but doesn't leave or hire a p.i? STUPID!!
In the beginning it was good, really entertaining. However, about 40-50% in, I was almost ready to call it quits. With the going back and forth between Colt and Finn it started to get down right annoying.
Stalker alert, I had this person picked at the start of this book, but there was so many red herrings, that it threw me off. Absolutely crazy. Great book, you get to know more about the characters and what they were about. Do heed TWS.
I feel the story could have wrapped up in one book. I think it was Finn’s constant monologue in her head that prevented this. If it wasn’t for persistent main character monologue this book would have definitely been 4.5 stars.
