The WAIS-IV is an individually administered assessment, comprised of intelligence tests in a battery format. The developer of the WAIS-IV intelligence test, David Wechsler, defined intelligence “The global capacity of a person to act purposefully, to think rationally, and to deal effectively with his/her environment.” This work is an overview of the WAIS-IV intelligence test, with a look at its administration, normed group, reliability, validity, information provided, cut scores, cultural concerns, ethical issues, and the methods of interpreting and communicating results. This work is ideal for the student who is seeking a brief analysis of those aspects.
