What happens when you mix a Hawk Shifter and a Fire Witch together, you get one HOT READ! I'm so loving this series!
This story had a few Oh F@ck moments when you are left wondering what is going to happen next because that cannot be happening, but in true Carrie Ann Ryan fashion she has gifted us with one breathtaking....or should I say fire breathing story. Between the chemistry raging around Jaxton and Laurel and the fighting against necromancer that is attacking the little town of Ravenwood it's hard to tell which one leaves you more breathless.
Laurel Christopher is a fire witch that lives with a family curse that causes her to burn within herself every time she casts a spell so what will happen to her fated mate Jaxton Dark, the wing Leader of the Ravenwood Wing, if the worst case scenario happens when they are attacked again? Or will the Coven be able to save her and stop the attacks? So many questions swirling around and some of the answers will surprise you.
This story focuses on the fated mates, Laurel and Jaxton, but it has an underlying story that runs through each of the books so I would highly recommend reading them in the order they have been released. I would also suggest having some tissues handy because you'll need them....oh and a nice tall glass of ice water too because when these two are together they are HOT!

I finished this book about a week ago and it's taken me that long to get sober from the book hangover. It wasn't a decision I took lightly, because I want to literally live in Ravenwood forever. The way Ms. Ryan creates this world, making you see and feel and just be surrounded by it all, speaks volumes to this writer's talent for PNR fiction.
But her strongest trait is in the storytelling--and there NO emotions unturned in this lush, lovely, sexy, and sensational read. Though many times there's an ensemble cast of characters on page, you never lose sight of anyone's personality. Every single character is richly drawn and beautifully realized in every scene they're in--which, of course, leads to conflicts inside a plot that is better than page-turning. These characters lived with me. (Oh yeah; that's right: Jaxton was helping me scrub the shower one day and he LOVED it...)
An unforgettable world from an unforgettable author. People, you MUST get lost in Ravenwood NOW. Go on. You'll thank me, I promise.

Book 2 in Ravenwood Coven series by Carrie Ann Ryan
Laurel is a witch and knows Jaxton is her mate but with the curse and issues with her powers they haven’t admitted there feelings and mated.
Jaxton is shifter, Wing Leader and struggled with his feeling towards Laurel but when things get series he knows they can’t keep hiding.
Absolutely love this series and love the mixture of witches, shifters, necromancer, mermaids etc in the town of Ravenwood looking forward to more in series

Was NOT a fan of this story. There was a lot of repetition and was boring. I didn't get the chemistry between the two probably because they were circling each other for longer than the book timeline was. Then there was reference after reference to poor Trace who was killed in book #1. Laurel was whiny and didn't come across as wanting to fight for the town/coven, just that it hurt, and she was resolved to die. The main male character (I can't remember his name at all) didn't come across as an alpha. First, he let his 'wing' walk over him for so long and second it took him long enough to stand up to Laurel. I truly skimmed most of it and am in awe this is so highly rated. I won't be continuing this series.

Laurel and Jaxton
I looked forward to this book alot. It was good but I found myself losing interest alot with just how whiny Laurel was. She claimed to want to work through her curse but she never wanted to appreciate the time she still had. Jaxton was a good guy but kind of weak alpha/leader. He took way too much BS.
Also there was alot of repetition the first half of the book. Trace wasn't their third but they thought he was, over and over. I was disappointed when he was killed off in book 1 but he got a bit too much time here. I would have appreciated a flashback to the 'goodtimes' though to really appreciate what this couple had and was capable of.

I recently listened to Dusk Unveiled by Carrie Ann Ryan and Loved it. This is book 2 in the Ravenwood Coven series. I would recommend reading book 1, Dusk Unearthed, before reading this book as the story continues with interconnecting couples. Narrated by Aiden Snow and Victoria Mie, they trutly brought Laurel and Jaxton's story to life for me.
Laurel is determined to help those that matter to her, even at a high cost to herself. She is determined, strong and loyal. Because of the curse, she is determined to keep everyone at arm’s length, even her mate. But Jaxton will not let her. It is destroying her bit by bit. How can the coven and all the magic around them save her, if they can at all? Lots of action and angst throughout this story, and so much love. This is a sitting on the edge of your seat kind of story waiting to see if it all works out. No spoilers here. It’s a good read if you want to find out.

This series is saving my reading this month. I finished the first book a few days ago and had to continue on with these amazing characters. The plot just keeps getting crazier and Carrie finds a new way to rip my heart out with each book. I can't wait to read Rowen and Ash's story and get the conclusion to this amazing, wild ride.

Shifters, Fae, Magic and a Curse that burns from the inside out. Throw in a love story and you have the second book in Carrie Ann Ryan's latest paranormal series. Dusk Unveiled gives you all the feels. Romance, action, danger and I couldn't put it down. Looking forward to Ash and Rowan's in the final Ravenwood Coven Story.

Diving into book 2 without reading book 1 may have been a mistake. I recommend reading perhaps the first book to get a better grip on the numerous characters in this book. New to me author Ms. Ryan's paranormal romance doesn't quite do it for me. I see many others love her writing.

Too much repetition; didn't hold my attention
My main problem with this novel was the repetition in both phrases and themes. They both annoyed me immensely, but it was the constant rehashing of the main heroine's situation that aggravated me the most.
This novel's main female character is a fire witch who has been cursed to burn (and eventually die) each time she tries to use her magic. This was explained very well in the first novel of this series, so I didn't need chapter after chapter of discussion in THIS novel about how the witch was dying and how she was distancing herself from everyone who loved her to keep from causing them pain.
Because of this, I ended up becoming bored with the novel after reading less than a third of it, but I was determined to finish. It took me much longer to read than is normal for me, and I finally became so frustrated that I skimmed and skipped my way through after the halfway point.
My other problems with this novel included feeling that the villains were too cartoonish and feeling that there just wasn't enough background detail provided - for both the town and its inhabitants.
All of this is making me shy away from reading the third and final novel of this series. It's going to be returned unread and unrated...

I really tried….
But I couldn’t get past around 20%. The writing is so disjointed, choppy and just plain hard to read. I DNF’d the other 2 installments as well, but I really wanted to like this one. I like this author, but I don’t think she wrote this series. The characters keep saying the same things over and over: “I don’t want to do it. But I have to.” “If I do this I’ll die, but if I don’t do it I’ll die.” Everyone is constantly wiping their hands, or pushing their hair, or leaning forward as they talk - nobody ever just SAYS something. I finally gave up. Sorry.

But she needed to save her town and those she loved from the evil that wanted to destroy them all. She found her mate and now she would die before they got a chance to enjoy each other fully. Fate couldn't be so cruel to her, could it!?
Jaxton Dark, an avian shifter and the wing leader of the Ravenwood wing who'd lost his best-friend to an evil necromancer who wanted to destroy their town because of someone's greed. He wasn't about to let his loved ones perish especially his mate, Laurel Christopher. She was everything he'd ever wanted in a mate and much more.
But before they could get their HEA they would have to take care of the evildoers. Laurel didn't feel she wasn't strong enough to fight the war that was heading their way yet she was willing to risk everything for those she loved. When someone from Jaxton's past threatening them all. Together with their allies and loved ones, she fought to keep their town safe.
Loved how Jaxton was right there by Laurel's side every step of the way even when she tried pushing him away for his own good. Nelle in action was a beautiful thing to read, loved that she didn't let anyone keep her away from her family. Love always wins over prejudice.
OMG I really loved all the twists and turns that the main characters and second characters had to go through. Jaxton and Laurel's mating bond was way overdue, they were such a formidable duo. So happy for the both of them.
DUSK UNVEILED is the second book in Carrie Ann Ryan's RAVENWOOD COVEN series. It was fast-paced, heartwarming, intoxicating and fascinating. It had me on the edge of my seat. Carrie Ann Ryan did a mind-blowing job! 5🌟🌟🌟🌟
P. S. I'm looking forward to Rowen and Ash's journey, I know those two are going to pull at my heartstrings. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Dusk Unveiled is the fast paced and thrilling second installment of the Ravenwood Coven Series.
Laurel, on top of fighting a battle to save her town, is fighting another battle within herself. A cursed fire witch whom with every bit of magic she does the flames kill her a little bit more from the inside out. Her magic has her trapped in a dangerous loop keeping herself at a distance from those she loves.
Jaxton is wing leader of the hawks. He’s a natural and powerful leader. He shoulders not only the responsibility and safety of his own people but also to the inhabitants of the town. He’s a fighter and a believer. Jaxton has a Determination that is so strong that he’s determined not only to help his friend but turn their relationship into what it could be.
Dusk Unveiled was fantastic. Carrie Ann Ryan delivers non stop action packed, fast paced, unfaltering to termination and a love that survives the flames. My goodness this was a very intense story. Intense in action and emotion. Laurel may just be the strongest female character that Ms. Ryan has written. I will not say she’s in denial, she's just being realistic as to what her situation is. She gives every bit of herself to protecting the town before she will be able to do more. Jaxton stands his ground with his wing while trying to do all he can for Laurel. He knows they are meant for one another. Through the danger and self-sacrifice they not only manage to save their town but they both gave themselves to save themselves. They were perfect for one another; it just took them a bit to get there.
I have been reading Carrie Ann Ryan for about 10 years now. When I found out she was doing a story about witches I was so ecstatic. Never in my wildest dreams did I think this trilogy would be what it is so far. The world building is outstanding. The characters are amazing. Ms. Ryan has taken figures from legend and lore that we have come to love over our years of reading, giving them her twist and making them into something new and fresh. Dusk Unveil Is a fantastic paranormal read.

Dusk Unveiled was fantastic. Carrie Ann Ryan delivers non stop action packed, fast paced, unfaltering to termination and a love that survives the flames. My goodness this was a very intense story. Intense in action and emotion. Laurel may just be the strongest female character that Ms. Ryan has written. I will not say she’s in denial, she's just being realistic as to what her situation is. She gives every bit of herself to protecting the town before she will be able to do more. Jaxton stands his ground with his wing while trying to do all he can for Laurel. He knows they are meant for one another. Through the danger and self-sacrifice they not only manage to save their town but they both gave themselves to save themselves. They were perfect for one another; it just took them a bit to get there.
I have been reading Carrie Ann Ryan for about 10 years now. When I found out she was doing a story about witches I was so ecstatic. Never in my wildest dreams did I think this trilogy would be what it is so far. The world building is outstanding. The characters are amazing. Ms. Ryan has taken figures from legend and lore that we have come to love over our years of reading, giving them her twist and making them into something new and fresh. Dusk Unveil Is a fantastic paranormal read.

My review is written voluntarily after listening to the audio version of this book.
Since I listened to Dawn Unearthed I have been looking forward to this one, would the coven be able to protect the town, would they be strong enough if Laurel doesn't use her magic? They may have defeated Faith, a necromancer in the previous book but a new and even stronger necromancer, this time with the power of fire, is now leading the attacks.
In this second visit to Ravenwood, we meet everyone who survived the previous attacks but this story concentrates on Laurel and Jaxton, a fire witch and a hawk shifter, they are mates but they haven’t mated because of Laurel's family curse. Every time she uses her fire magic she is one step closer to her death and she believes that if they were mated the Christopher curse would kill Jaxton too.
Because of the curse, Laurel tries to keep everyone at a distance, even her brother who is also a victim of the Christopher curse. She's been through so much but she's strong and keeps fighting and despite searching unsuccessfully for years for a way to defeat the curse she continues to fight but now believes that she hasn't long left. Jaxton's determination to help Laurel may have stopped him from pushing her to form a mating bond but he refuses to let her go or to fight the curse alone. His love is strong and he's prepared to go to any lengths to keep her safe. But the curse and the necromancer aren't all Jaxton has to contend with, he's the leader of the Ravenwood Wing, the elders of which fear his alliance with the witches and Laurel in particular, and do all they can to keep them apart.
This is an ongoing storyline and does end on a cliffhanger so I would recommend that you listen to the books in the order they are released but be aware that you won't be able to listen to just one because the more we discover the more we need to know.
The narration of this book by Victoria Mei and Aiden Snow is so very well done, most of the characters were already familiar and recognisable - these two work so well together.

Holy hawk babies at all of the angst in this book! I am not even kidding about the amount of angst, but considering that Laurel and Jaxton are mates that haven’t mated because every time Laurel uses her magic she comes closer and closer to death, it’s not at all surprising.
Laurel is such a strong character. She has been through a lot in her life, but she keeps fighting. Because of her family curse Laurel is determined to push away everyone that she loves, in an attempt to protect them. She’s been searching for years for a way to defeat the curse, with no luck and it’s finally getting to her. Lucky for her, Jaxton is not easily scared away. He knows that Laurel is his mate, and while he won’t push her to form a mating bond, he also refuses to let her go. Nothing makes me melt faster than a male character that threatens to burn the world down for the person that he loves, and that’s exactly how Jaxton feels about Laurel. Add in politics from the Ravenwood wing, which Jaxton happens to be the leader of, along with constant battles to keep the town safe and it makes it finding time to figure things out and finding a way to save Laurel very difficult.
I’ve been intrigued by this ongoing story since I read Dawn Unearthed. While each book is about a different couple there is an ongoing storyline between all of the books, and the more I learn the more I want to know. And can I just say that the revelation toward the end of the book was something that, while looking back it makes sense, I still did not see it coming. I read so much that sometimes I feel like I can guess all the twists and turns that are coming in a book so I give full kudos to any author that can surprise me with one of their twists.
If you want a fast paced, quick read, with sexy shifters and badass witches that will keep you interested from start to finish, then read this series.

I loved the second installment of the Ravenwood Coven trilogy, and reading Laurel and Jax’s story.
There was an ‘unexpected’ twist at the end of the book—and I’m looking forward to the third and final book (Rowen and Ash’s story) to see how the coven handles the twist and to see Rowen and Ash get their happily-ever-after.
I’ve always enjoyed paranormal romance books, and the Ravenwood coven books have been hitting it out of the park across the board—though I hope that there may be a novella (or novel) for Nelle and Aspen as well in the future.
I give ‘Dusk Unveiled’ five out of five stars and highly recommend it to anyone who likes idea that ‘others’ live among us.

I loved this story! I loved getting to know and see Laurel on a more personal and deeper level in this book. This is the second book in the series and I would highly recommend reading the first book prior to starting this one due to them fighting the same bad guy and problems that are introduced and continued from book to book but this one does follow different main characters (though there are a core group that are always primary) and can be read as a standalone for the most part. I loved watching Jaxton and Laurel finally start coming together. They knew that they had the connection but due to Laurel's curse and other factors they never acted on it and kept some distance between them because of the danger and worries of what the curse could and would do. I loved seeing them work through things and become partners in this book. They have a lot of obstacles to overcome as a new necromancer (not the head one in charge) and traitor come to light to fight them and wreck havoc on the town as they are trying to figure things out. There is plenty of action and intrigue in the story and I loved how things developed and happened. It keeps you pulled in and engaged from beginning to end. I loved getting to see more glimpses of Rome and Sage progressing in their relationship (from first book) and the bits and pieces that we see of Ash and Rowan. I can't wait to get their story and see what occurred between them that has caused such a rift. There are so many great characters beyond our main ones that we get to see and I can't wait to find out what is going to happen with Jaxton's sister as well in the next book. I am super excited for the next book and can't wait to get my hands on it!

This is book 2 in the Ravenwood Coven series and I would absolutely read book 1 before reading this one as I feel like this book builds upon the first book. Not only that but we meet these characters in the first book. There is definitely a much bigger story happening on top of the mates in each book. In this one we get Laurel and Jaxton's story. Laurel is a fire witch with a family curse. Every time she uses a spell, it pushes her closer to her own death by burning her from the inside out. But she will never stop trying to protect not only her town but her fated mate. Even knowing that will mean her death. Jaxton knows that Laurel is his mate, and he is not willing to lose her to this curse. He is the leader of the Ravenwood Wing which has it's own issues along with the issues with the town being attacked, he knows he will stop at nothing in order to keep the people he cares about safe. And he isn't afraid to stand beside the one woman meant to be his.
There were so many different things happening in this book that I just couldn't put it down! Laurel is this strong and caring woman. She knows that the more magic she uses the more she pushes herself to her own death, but she refuses to back down and not protect the people she cares about. And I loved that about her. Jaxton has already lost his best friend, and he refuses to lose his mate. But he also isn't the type to force a mating on someone. I loved that about him! The fight continues in Ravenwood in this second book of this series!
This was a good read that I enjoyed from the start. Where the battle continues and the storyline picks up at the end of book one, I would recommend reading book one first so that one knows what is going on and the relationships of the supporting characters that play a large role in the continuation on this tale.
Laurel, member of the fire witch coven, starts the story unable to use her powers completely due to the curse that has been placed on her family. She has resigned herself with the knowledge that in order to break the curse, she will most likely have to die. She continues to fight and mourn the one that she thought was her mate until she accepts that she possibly had not found her mate until she opens herself up to her mate being right in front of her all along in Jaxton.
Jaxton, leader of the hawks, continues to fight along with the others of the magical creatures of the town. He is torn between protecting his hawks and his being drawn to Laurel. He fights for her and those that matter against evil and convinces Laurel that he is her mate.
This was an action packed read that I was hooked on from the start. I needed to know what was going to happen next and with the twists that were thrown in I now can't wait to see what happens in the last installment of this series.

Book 1 Dawn Unearthed drew you into a suspenseful mystery that made you want to know more. Book 2 gives you more and still makes you want more. Laurel and Jaxton’s story is both heartbreaking and Joyful. “My world was fracturing around me, and I wasn’t sure how to fix it. All I knew was that I loved a woman who I knew loved me back but was afraid to do so.”
You become so emotionally involved with the characters that you can’t help but cry and cheer with them.
Ms. Ryan makes you think you know where she is going and then throws a complete curveball.

Sometimes You Have To Die To Really Live
Something that Laurel and Jaxton have to learn ... the hard way.
This work is full of all kinds of fun, interesting and wonky twists and turns. But it's also full of love and devotion and just pure awesomeness.
The town of Ravenwood is having problems. Part of those problems is keeping some of the secrets that Ravenwood carries. It's hard work by quite a few people that is keeping it from completely imploding at the moment. Laurel and Jaxton are facing a few problems of their own. And are fighting some pretty basic and fated urges. But Laurel is also trying to figure out how to deal with what is happening to her.
To find out what the secrets are, if Laurel and Jaxton will work out their problems, if Ravenwood is safe, and how does Laurel deal with her future you'll have to read the book. I can't tell you everything, after all :)
What I can say is that I recommend reading the first book in this trilogy (this is book 2) before reading this one so you're all caught up on what's happened so far. It's ok if you don't, but I personally think there's a better understanding if you do.
Carrie Ann Ryan is an amazing author who I have been reading for well over 10 years. I keep reading her work because it's so well done. Whether it's paranormal or contemporary the world building and character development is just phenomenal and keeps you reading well past your bed time.

Dusk Unveiled is the hot and steamy book two in the Ravenwood Coven series. I’d recommend that you read book one, Dawn Unearthed first…because while each book features a different couple, the storylines blend into one another and create a continuous arc. Plus, it was darn great as well!
This time, it’s Laurel Christopher, the fire witch, who’s getting her story told, along with Jaxton, the Hawk shifter who loves her. The curse of the Christopher family is revealed, but nothing can be done to break it. Laurel’s flame is slowly eating her alive, but Jaxton and their friends are not about to give up on trying to break it. All while trying to fight the “big bad” that’s intent on taking over the town.
New friends, and enemies, are introduced into the fight, as well as a familiar face, long gone from Ravenwood. That’s a fun addition that will lead into the final book! I would highly recommend getting Dusk Unveiled and the other book in the Ravenwood Coven series by Carrie Ann Ryan. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
