Broken Chains

Rate this book
Everything in Demetria's life was shattered when something powerful and evil possessed him. No one in his village, including Demetria himself, could understand why he began to menace his neighbors and his own family. One day, when the villagers had had enough, they chained Demetria and led him to the local graveyard and forced him to live among the tombs. Alone, afraid, and abandoned by his wife and children, he languished among the tombstones. And in time people in the village began calling him the Dead Man. This dreadful moniker was a fitting description for the man who lived among the dead. But living among the dead wasn't the worse thing he suffered. The evil force that destroyed his life with his family in the village, tormented him night and day in the graveyard. That changed when the prophet from Nazareth came across the Sea of Galilee to Demetria's village in the region called Decapolis. No respectable Jew from Israel would dare set foot in the region of half-breeds governed by the Romans. But Jesus and his disciples weren't ordinary Jews. They were always on a mission to preach the good news about the kingdom of God.. And in Hippos, there was a man who desperately needed some good news. Demetria, the poor soul who lived in a graveyard bound by chains and tormented by demons was a prisoner to both. When Jesus met Demetria among the tombs, he broke Demetria's chains, and cast the demons into the Sea of Galilee. From that moment on, Demetria, now a follower of Jesus, lived to tell the story about the day Jesus broke his chains and set him free. Broken Chains, is a fictional story based on the biblical account of Jesus and the man in the tombs as found in the Gospel of Mark 4:1-20. Although Broken Chains isn't a Bible study or a theological work, it is written to reflect the truths of the Bible and encourage readers to strengthen their faith in God.

True historical fiction

I enjoy imagining the lives of people in the Bible of whom we are only given glimpses. Bro. Dan has taken that real Biblical person, the man with many demons who was bound in chains and living in a graveyard and freed by Jesus, given him a name and told a plausible fictional story of his life. The life of the Dead Man certainly could have been like this. I enjoy all of Dan Panter’s books. Each one is unique. He is a writer of Biblical fiction, a children’s book, poetry, and even a 3 book series of spies. Read and enjoy.
