Great little book, working with the elements, interesting to read, some useful information. For ex. There is magic of intention, but there is one more kind of magic which will give you more freedom. In just few places more explanations are needed. This is one very uplifting occult text.
Mood Magick is a spirituality book that offers simple techniques, advice, and tools that help you manage life’s challenges. North shares simple rituals and spells that are rooted in the elements. We are reminded of the importance of grounding ourselves so we can feel a connection to our souls and bodies once again.
I love the affirmations/incantations in this book. They remind you that you are in control of your own reality and to let go of what no longer serves you. I enjoyed learning more about the elements which are fire, water, earth, and air. I found the lists on how to bring a certain element into your life very captivating and informative. For example a symptom of too little Earth in your space could make you feel unfocused and disconnected. To bring more Earth into your space, you can carrying your favorite stones in your pocket or display nature on your walls.
I’ve always been a very spiritual person, however I had never attempted any rituals or spells. I’m not sure whether I’d start, but overall I really enjoyed this book. I found it very eye opening and magical. If you are a beginner and are looking for a guide, I would definitely recommend Mood Magick. Thank you to NetGalley and New Harbinger Publications Inc. for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.
This book was interesting. I really liked the concept, and the idea of magick to help with mental health issues, but outside of the basic broad terms... this wasn't really addressed. The book itself ended up being incredibly repetitive, which in dealing with rituals is understandable... but in all honestly - I believe it could have done without. Not to mention the sly mentions of "god" and broader, wiccan terms. This really dulled the book for me, and while it was beautifully written, I don't believe I would recommend it to anyone that's not versed in their practice.
Mood Magick by Ora North gives a much needed new perspective on self care using elemental connections. I have wanted to explore using elements in my daily self car rituals but never had a simple plan on how to start. Mood Magick helped me with that and so much more. I found so many suggestions on how to journal, finding your triggers, deep diving to do some emotional shadow work, and explaining in great detail the benefits of using each element in a personal and powerful way for your mental health and emotional landscape. The author writes in such a kind and caring way, which really helps when someone is trying to work through the mental imbalances of everyday life. Mood Magick by Ora North is such a positive and informative self care book. I highly recommend it as a valuable addition to your self care routine and library. While reading Ora's book conclusion, I felt as if someone had literally lifted a weight from my shoulders. Beautiful from beginning to end. #MoodMagick #NetGalley
Ora North's beautifully written book "Mood Magick" is a unique compendium of spells and rituals for novice and advanced magickal practitioners. I'm grateful North's book is geared to readers with mental health challenges, especially since I have bipolar disorder. Yet, "Mood Magick" benefits anyone interested in exploring simple, powerful elemental magick. North inspires one to re-engage with life through thoughtfully designed witchcraft ranging from grounding and healing to creativity and passion. "Mood Magick" is a brilliant, innovative work!

This book offers a strong psychological perspective on modern magic with an emphasis on elemental work. What impressed me the most was the authors open discussion on mental health and important reminders to the readers. She doesn't advocate against medicine/treatment and encourages the reader to use these rituals in addition to them. She even makes note of how different conditions react to the exercises differently, something I wish I had read a long time ago. The author also encourages the reader to customize their rituals and even explains how to do so. I particularly enjoyed the exercises that gave me more insight on my own connections with the elements.
I think the last few years have taken a toll on quite a few of us, mentally and emotionally. Lockdowns, loss, upheaval - it's been an emotionally charged time. I don't think I could've read this at a better time. North does an excellent job of guiding the reader on a spiritual journey, and providing tools to help you navigate difficult times. I found this easy to read and informative, without making you feel overwhelmed as you read. If you're looking for some spiritual guidance that isn't based in Abrahamic religion, then I highly recommend grabbing this!
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I have struggled with mental health for a long time and I found the activities in this book to make me slow down and think of what I need to do for myself. That is not something I often think of on a day-to-day basis. I have started using it with my daily journal and I have seen that I have more good days.
As someone who suffers from chronic anxiety and relapsing depression I think that I could make good use of the rituals presented in this book to help me understand and stabilize my emotions. I haven't tried any out yet but I do intend to soon.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for giving me this eARC to review.
I liked the grounding techniques described as they can be used in day to day life. The intentions and spells seemed interesting but it does worry me about relying just on these spells or on these spells too much.
I really liked this trauma informed, level headed "recipe" book of rituals to connect with nature and work with moods. North gives plenty of good advice while also making room for the reader's individual needs and beliefs. I especially dug her idea of working out a spell or incantation to go along with taking a new medication. While I've always struggled to believe "thoughts and prayers" could effect anything outside of my own mind, I can get behind using a little magick to affect anxiety, anger, or any difficult emotion.
