Well written and relevant for anyone interested in getting pierced. Helps with knowing what to expect, look forward, ask, seek, before, while, and after getting a piercing.
Elayne specializes in intimate piercings, hence the book having quite comprehensive information on those piercings.

Comprehensive and informative, occasionally personal and funny, and very readable. I've been getting piercings for 15 years and I've done my research, and still learned a few things by reading this.

As a piercer in training, I expected more from a book that by title alone boasts itself as the “Piercing Bible”. I was mislead however, since this is solely for clients, and people who are merely interested in body piercing, but had very few to none done themselves. That in itself is not a bad thing of course, but I felt betrayed by the premise as someone who is already invested in piercings, and found that I got very little substance from it. Needless to say, I dropped this one.

From an informational standpoint and introduction to piercings this is a fun book. I have questions about the healing and stretching sections though since these sections contain contradictory material. I’m still going to default to the APP for healing guidelines and Lynne Loheide for stretching.

For example the book talks about never using porous materials to heal in but then in the stretching section recommends bone and wood for half sizes - I’ve heard too many horror stories of people stretching with wood and bone and getting fused to even think about using that advice. I’m going to stick with glass and metal for half size stretching. Also in one section it recommends following the APP for healing but then in the healing section it recommends using several options that are on the “do not try this” type of list.

Prince Albert piercingi yaptırdıktan sonra hem piercing tarihine hem de uygulamalara merak saldım. 18 senedir piercing yaptırıyorum ve kesinlikle Türkiye’de hangi stüdyoya giderseniz gidin bu kitaptaki standartları karşılamıyor. Elbette Amerika’da ve Avrupa’da farklı yönetmelikler mevcut. Hatta Amerika’da piercing stüdyolarında anjiokat kullanımının yasak olduğunu da bu kitaptan öğrendim. Ama ülkemizdeki ve diğer ülkelerdeki prosedürler ve yaklaşımlar birbirinden tamamen farklı. Kitaptaki hijyen kurallarını baz alırsak Türkiye’deki stüdyoların hepsi sınıfta kalır 😂Kesinlikle bütün dillere çevrilmeli ve piercerlar/pierceeler okumalı.

In this industry it's hard to find viable information, so I'm grateful for Elayne's existence, her initiative and altruism. It made the job much easier for most piercers who haven't necessarily had the priviledge of getting a proper apprenticeship. Great read, definitely recommend to piercers and piercees alike!

This book was so interesting and informative! And it was so easily inclusive! From using gender neutral language to explaining the native/tribal origins of certain types of piercings and materials, the author makes a clear effort not to be exclusionary and treat the topic with care.
