She doesn’t love him anymore. But if she leaves him, she might pay the ultimate price…

Alyse Wilson can’t remember the last time she felt safe in her own home. And after years of her abusive partner laundering money through her business, she doesn’t see any way out. But when rough seas threaten to sink her small craft, she’s stunned when she’s plucked from the waves by an old high-school friend.

Marine Rescue Officer Kim On will never forget the day he lost Alyse. And when he unexpectedly finds himself pulling her into his arms from the depths, he can tell she needs saving from more than just choppy waters. So he vows to do whatever it takes to help her escape, unaware his rival is willing to employ deadly force to keep her in his power.

Gaining a glimpse of a life outside a toxic relationship, Alyse prepares a case to ensure her cruel partner’s arrest. And though he realizes he’s falling for his former crush all over again, Kim worries the closer they get, the more peril she’s in.

Can Alyse and Kim break the hold of a controlling man without it costing their lives?

Claire Boston fell in love with romance and romantic suspense at eleven when she discovered her mother’s stash of Nora Roberts novels. Like Nora, she writes series set around families or groups of friends with a guaranteed happy ending.

She loves travelling and learning about new cultures and interesting vocations which she then weaves into her writing.

When Claire’s not at the computer typing her stories she can be found creating her own handmade journals, swinging on a sidecar, or in the garden attempting to grow something other than weeds.

Claire lives in Western Australia with her husband, who loves even her most annoying quirks and is currently learning how to knit.

A second chance romance with a lot more to it. 💞❤️🥰💞

Alyse and Kim had been friends since high school but Kim missed his chance to take their friendship to more. And then he had to watch her life fall apart. But he can't stand by and watch her suffer anymore and tells Alyse he'll help her any way he can. Alyse wants to trust Kim but she's spent the last few years just trying to survive Mark, her abusive boyfriend. When she finally hits her wall and decides enough is enough, Kim and her new friends are right there waiting to help. But that doesn't mean it's going to be easy. 💗😲💕

This is the third book in the First Response series and it can easily be read as a standalone. But be prepared for an emotional look at one woman's escape from a brutally abusive relationship that doesn't happen behind closed doors. It was tough to read but it was so worth it to see how she not only survives but begins to thrive after she escapes. ❣️

This book is about a young woman named Alyse, who has been physically, mentally, and emotionally abused by her partner (Mark). She can't leave Mark because Mark is engaging in many illegal activities and has made it seem that Alyse is involved. So he has threatened to make sure Alyse ends up in jail if she doesn't do what he says. A young man named Kim has found out about Mark's abuse of Alyse and wants to help her, and eventually they have the police investigating Mark while Alyse tries to dig up evidence of his crimes (which are even worse than anyone expected). The story builds to a very dramatic conclusion, while the love between Alyse and Kim grows. So there is a lot of romance and suspense - a great book!

Alyse is trapped in a relationship she can't get out of. Her boyfriend uses her company to launder criminal activities. When Mark forces her to get into the small boat, knowing her panic about this, she is convinced they will drown. She turns to the only friend she has left, Kim On. His faith in her, his love for her, saves her from destruction.
Powerful to read how a woman who is abused by her boyfriend, forces her to participate in criminal activities, can survive above all else. Being seen and heard are important elements for daring to trust again and eventually daring to love again. Strong main characters, realistic storyline. Highly recommended

Wow. That is all I can say about this book. It kept me on my toes waiting to find out what came next. I was left wanting more and I am very eager to read anything written by this writer. This book had everything I like in the fantasy/romance genre. It was well-written with a lot of character and world building. I would definitely recommend this book.

Harbour is set in the fictional town of Blackbridge in Western Australia and is the third book in the Blackbridge series. The main characters, Alyse and Kim are well developed. The story is exciting and fast paced, the suspense and the romance work well together. I thoroughly enjoy Harbour and look forward to more books from Claire Boston.

I absolutely loved this book. It's very poignant and strong and I love these types of stories. You are thrown into Alyse's nightmare of a life in the first paragraph of the book and this is always a good thing for me. With these kind of things I do not like the build up. Worth the read. Alyse is in an abusive relationship, and has no friends. She'd like to leave, but Mark has her accounts mixed up with his illegal deals. Kim was her friend in school, before she met Mark. He has a tight circle of friends, and they're all concerned about her. After he rescues her from a small boat during a storm, they reconnect, and he beings to plant the seeds of hope that people care about her, that they will help her get away from Mark. This is a fast-paced story that hooked me in the beginning. We know who the bad guy is from the start, but the suspense is all about what he does and why. The characters, especially Kim and his friends, are wonderful and caring people. Kim's sisters are a riot. I especially enjoyed seeing Alyse learn to trust again, and allow Kim to help her out of a hopeless situation. This is my first read from this author, but certainly not the last (I just bought the first two books in the series).
