Serenity has reluctantly settled into her new role as queen, and to her surprise and other’s dismay, she is flourishing in it. But with the threat of war looming closer and closer and the country desperately trying to stave off a famine, things are getting more and more dire. To make things even more complicated Serenity's hopes of returning home may actually come to fruition.
Kang-Dae begins to struggle with the knowledge that he will have to let her go and the effects of it all take a heavy toll. Serenity juggles her duties as queen, her feelings for Kang-Dae, and her devotion to her family. She keeps her focus on getting home, but little by little the idea doesn't sound as sweet as it once did.
There are still those within the palace who wish to remove Serenity and will stop at nothing to do so. Their manipulations could turn not only the country against her, but Kang-Dae as well.

Drawn to supernatural, romance, fantasy and science fiction, L.S. loves to incorporate a little bit of it all in her writing.
Book 2 in The King's Seer series has even more grammar and punctuation problems than Book 1. The author deserves a good scolding for publishing what could be very promising work without the benefit of an editor, or even a simple proofreader! The only thing keeping this book at 4 stars is the tale itself. Without giving away too much, I can say the ending was both pleasing and disappointing. Book 3 is on the horizon, and I feel it's predictable overall, but I'll still look forward to reading it. To the author: GET AN EDITOR!
This was definitely an ‘unputdownable’ book for me. Seriously. I stayed up ALL night reading it. Foregoing food and liquids until I had finished. That’s how good it was. I must say, it’s a series, I started reading it not knowing there was a book before of the same name and immediately went on Amazon to grab it, read it and moved into this one. All in the space of 1 day. That should tell you how highly addictive this story was. It’s for this fact that I’m combining my review of both books into this one.
First of all, I loved the characters. Kang Dae, Jung Soo (who is my favourite because I have a thing for quiet, loyal and brooding characters) Amoli and of course, Serenity. The story was captivating. Like I said, I ignored sleep AND food in favour of reading this series and I REGRET NOTHINGGGGGG!!!!
I truly enjoyed the relationship between Kang Dae and Serenity even though at points it got a bit repetitive and frustrating. At certain points I was like, “Really guys, are we really doing this again?” Also wanted to strangle them both numerous times in the book, but they worked through the issues after Jung Soo managed to make them see that they are pig headed bastards who are terrible when they’re not with each other.
The relationship between the servants, guards and Serenity was welcomed too. She wasn’t instantly liked, but gradually earned their love, loyalty and respect and that made for a warm read.
That being said, Serenity, we need to have a talk. Was was I mad at her for her final decision? Yes & no, because I imagine how taxing it would be to truly give in to your happiness when you know your family is suffering from your absence, not knowing if you were dead or alive. Yet, in the same breath, I’m irritated that she couldn’t try to rationalise that she was perhaps where she was is where she was meant to be.
I must add, the romance scenes were so tasteful and still steamy. I appreciated it greatly. A lot of times I find that authors tend to have too much sex scenes and no story. It was truly quite refreshing to see that you could have too people madly in love with each other and not have romantic scenes overshadow the story.
Loved it so much! I am anxious for book 3 and would want to see how Kang Dae would handle being in Setenity’s world. Heck, bring Jung Soo & Amoli along for the ride too. Lol.
I loved this book, but I wish the author would've said that there was going to be a book three. I HATE when authors do this. Just say it straight off the ripple that this book is a 3 part story. Now I 've got to wait for how ever long before I can read what happened. Anyway the book was good but way to do with the footiez action. I love me some bedroom action but this book didn't have it. Nevertheless of was a good story. If you like the between the sheet action this AIN'T IT SWEETY😐
More mistakes. This novel was way longer than the first. The author could have made the first book a little longer by incorporating the novel's beginning. This series has three other books, and I've started the 3rd. I cannot see myself finishing the third novel because it has even more grammatical and spelling errors, which is okay sometimes. However, it starting to become difficult to read the books.
I've burnt out on the storyline because I finished this in two days. Maybe one day, I will finish the series.
I actually enjoyed the story concept but dislike Serenity. In this sequel Serenity is married to the king. He protects her and is secretly in love with Serenity. Yet Serenity in her ignorance would rather give up this comfortable existence to go back to her time period because of her family. What I have an issue with is her supposed belief in God. Why would the creator send her to a place she wasn't meant to be in. After all is said and done Serenity learns this lesson in yet another cliffhanger.
I'm really disappointed with the ending of this book and it's really ruined the story and series for me. The only reason I gave it a 4 star is because 85% of the book was great....but then it was ruined in the end. The book is left hanging with no resolution to the story, which leaves me impeccably frustrated. Poor Kang Dae sees her being stabbed and then falling into the lake, disappearing - she then wakes up from a coma surrounded by her family, back in her world. Ugh.
I will admit, Book 2 was much better written (including the editing, thank goodness) than Book 1, which I am so grateful to. But I just can't get on board with Serenity insisting on going back home. She ignores her visions if they have to do with her and it's impeccably frustrating.
The blurb for Book 3 implies that Kang Dae is going to go to Earth to try to get her back and that Serenity is all depressed being back on Earth away from him. Boo. I'm not interested in reading about him in modern day nor am I interested in seeing her wallowing in self pity over her own stupidity. For the ending of Book 2, I wanted to see Serenity make a firm decision to stay with this man that she's supposedly in love with - when she realized she didn't want to leave, it was too little, too late. 🙄😤 Book 3 could have been them ruling together and getting rid of the crazy overlord trying to take over Xian. But nooooo, now they're going to be all emotions and distract for the real issues of the Xian empire. Ugh.
This story reminds me so much of the 1990's manga, Red River, which is one of my absolute favorite stories, but Chie Shinohara wrote that story so much better. I guess I've got to stick to the originals rather than wannabe remakes.

This book is just too good to put into words. I was a big fan of L.S. Bethel after reading the first book in the series, but this one... too good! Read it.
Wow this series has really fallen for me. I really loved the first book but this second installment just grinded my gears. Sorry.
I love a slow burn, but this was just too slow for me. Especially from the first book to now two books where Serenity and Kang-Dae’s relationship was starting to feel more like a really loving friendship. Sure they say they have attraction for each other and kiss once or twice but that was mostly about it until the last 20 pages. The romance just kind of fell off and for most of the book felt nonexistent.
Serenity’s obsession with getting home quickly became annoying. Like I understood, but the whole book just became consumed with it at some point; especially when she claimed to love Kang-Dae and had so much to lose if she left just as she did when she came, it felt like she was being really unreasonable and made her words about loving Kang-Dae feel contradictory.
**SPOILER**
And now with the third book being set up as her finally being home like she wanted but now wants to go back to Kang-Dae, all this back and forth is just too much and I’m over it. I don’t think I’ll be reading the third book honestly. It started off strong but I think the author wanting to stretch out the series, second and third unnecessary subplots, and the back and forth of Serenity’s indecisiveness was ultimately its downfall for me.
I have a love hate relationship with this story. The premise is great. But it is also a long drawn out drama. I ended up skipping about half of the book with the hope that it would be nicely wrapped up at the end. But no, it is not. And the addict that I am will tune in for book 3.
I was so frustrated with Kang-Dae and Serenity in this book. One conversation as adults would've gone a very long way but of course not, it makes too much sense. Instead, they spend so much time off in their corners pouting like children, it's a wonder they're semi able to run their territory. Serenity too was hyper focused on getting home to her family I couldn't understand her stubborn insistence to get back damn any consequences including the one where she might die. Just sighs though she manages to get home by mistake after falling in the water after she's stabbed. More plots by trusted advisors and allies are discovered but like the first book, they're not quite believable. Emotions are sudden and unprovoked, Kang-Dae isn't behaving like an experienced leader, and Serenity is all of a sudden an experienced war general. Still, can't stop myself wanting to know what's next.
Things are moving along now. A bond has been formed between Serenity and the King as well as trust. But behind the scenes there are conspirators that want control of the kingdom, want her gone, and the kings power to be forever tempered by the council. There are spies, sabotage, negligence, and more happening even while great change is happening. People who are afraid of change will always fight it especially if it gets in the way of personal gain. The things that were done to the King and Serenity by the hands of others and the blind foolishness of themselves was shocking. I have to know how this all ends. So much has happened in this book! Lives have been forever changed and some not for the better.
Such an amazing read! Can’t wait for book 3! Kudos to the author on this series because I am in awe! Wow!
I loved the period travel vibe of the story. I loved how the writer took the time to develop the characters and never rushed into anything sexual with them. Even though it might have been on Kang - Dae's mind.. In the beginning I was on Serenity's side with wanting to go home, missing her family. As the story progressed I saw that she was starting to become selfish, she saw how Amoli, cared for her. She even began to have a positive effect on Jung- Soo . Kang -Dae adored her, he did his best to make her feel comfortable, happy. Loved when they were at odds with one another it showed . I can't wait to read part 3.
Well, these books just keep dragging the tears out of me. I'm very curious to see how all this turns out, and I'm wondering how much suffering will be had by Serenity and Kang-dea while they're separated. It's nice to see Serenity come into more confidence in her abilities. I've also noticed the many mentions of God and Serenity being embarrassed by her wonton behavior 😒 it's cool though because it didn't really detract from the story and I don't feel like there's been enough put into the story for it to be overly sexy and make you think they're really sweating out the sheets.
This book had a lot of drama going on. Serenity was making great progress in becoming a great queen for the people. I liked her character development and how she was getting better with her duties and learning the language. The relationship between Serenity and Kang-Dae was messyyyyy. The definitely need to work on their communication skills. The growth of their relationship has their ups and downs but their relationship is still beautiful. I can’t wait to see what happens next and what other secrets are gonna be revealed. Would recommend.
Excellent Great part 2 A page turner, you didn't know what was going to happen next Sometimes you wanted to shake Serenity it seemed she was whining too much about going home while it was understandable, but she was Queen You own it and move on ( lol) That's my story and I'm sticking to it Can't wait for Part 3 which I hope does not take forever to come out, hint, hint Loved both books, you definitely want to read them you will not be disappointed
I had a hard time putting the book down. Overlooking the grammatical errors, I enjoyed the book overall. I will admit to being super annoyed and lacking empathy for Serenity at the end because I really didn’t understand her decision to leave considering their relationship. I hate that it’s a series and we gotta wait for lord knows how long to find out the ending. I’m pretty sure I know what’s it’s going to be but I’m looking forward to reading it.

I couldn't wait to delve into book 2 book but too much was going on. I pushed through cause I wanted to know what would happen to our could be lovers. Conflict is good to drive the story but man, they just couldn't catch a break! I feel compelled to keep reading cause will this tale end in happiness or heartache?
Nothing good happened in book 2. It was hard to read as the couple grew further apart. Serenity was unbearable the whole book. I don’t know why she wanted to get back home so badly. She was sickening. Now, that she’s back home, I guess we’re going to have to listen to her whine about wanting to go back to Xian. I’m about through.
This one is even more intense and exciting than the first one. I thought the undercurrent of schemes was obvious, but there were more hidden twists before my eyes. It's tragic, exciting, an emotional rollercoaster of angst as their relationship is twisted and tested to the depths of hell (no cheating) - but never fully broken. There is lots of violence and some assault, but all isn't as it seems, so i'll just leave at that. This writer knows what she's doing and I ran to the next book.
When I first started The King Seer, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it; however, it grew on me as the story progressed. Kang-Dae and Serenity's relationship is a slow burn, so you can really see them falling in love. They're quite cute together.
Will there be a book 3 ??? I was so into this book I forgot she fell, I'm not going to say anymore you have to read the books for yourself to make your own conclusions book 1 and book 2. I could not put this book down... good read 👏
I loved this book. The characters were believable and endearing. The relationships were heartwarming. A true struggle between past and present. I am beginning to love this author. This series is a great love story. I can't wait for the next book.
Please tell me when the next book is coming out! The story was engaging and we'll written. I enjoyed the story build up, the though trend of the characters were realistic. Please tell me the third book is on its way.
I have read the first two books in this series. This is the first time I've read this author's books and e am impressed. The storms line reads like a good movie. I can't wait for book three.
I liked this one. But be aware this sequel had more typos than the first one. I liked the romance between the mc and the li, but it was all the subplots that kept me engaged. If you looking for smut though, this is not your book. I am looking forward to #3 in the series

I read both books in this series, and look forward to reading the third installment. The only issue I had with these books, was the need for a really good editor to correct mistakes, such as missing words and clarification of who is speaking.
I am upset because I didn't know there was a third book. I hope it comes out soon. I can't wait to read if the king going after the love of his life. The Author have me invested on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens next.
Back into where she came from. The end justifies the means of deception, treason, and desperation to achieve their goals all for another. And yet I'm still hooked but I've already read book 3 first. Intriguing story plot of romance.
