Armageddon Day. That is how history will remember the date when two Overlords clashed amidst the war-torn streets of New Whitehall. The disastrous duel its explosive conclusion wreaked heavy casualties on the two armies present, rendering both the Ishigar Republic and the Lodrak Empire unable to continue to fight. And yet, it was no stalemate. With one Hero defeated and another revealed, the balance of power is sure to shift in the elvish nation’s favor. The Republic’s leaders will surely not hesitate to seize this opportunity, as they had already paid for it in blood and gold. Meanwhile the Lodrak Empire is gripped by unease overnight as their Goddess mysteriously falls silent.

Boxxy doesn’t care about any of that at the moment. Mostly because the confrontation with Teresa has left it in a comatose state at a most inopportune time. With the Hero status of its public persona revealed, it will be forced to rapidly adapt and escalate its plans. Whereas before it only had to worry about keeping its true identity a secret, it will now have to worry about its alter ego being targeted. Each chosen of the divines is a controversial figure, and the suddenly revealed Hero of Chaos will surely attract a lot of attention.

And, as the shapeshifter’s primal instincts are well aware, too much attention can and will lead to a surprise meeting with Death itself.

(Audiobook Review)

4.5 stars

The first little while was somewhat uninteresting but things quickly picked up! Great action and development. Fantastic narration, as always, by Jeff Hays and the Soundbooth Theater crew!

Now having withdrawal issues from finishing the book.

So so SO good. One of the best ones of the series.
I love the crudeness, evil, over the top characters and how it fits all of my twisted sense of humor.

I fully want to see Boxy get more and more evil only to finish when he has every shiny and tasty item in the world.

Soundbooth does an incredible job on this story, if you've read it I would recommend listening to the audiobook as it really brings it to life.

Where did that curve ball the size of the moon come from?

I have read every single one of the books in this series and can safely say that they are getting better and better. This book decided to be Wiley Coyote in the form of twists, turns and pitfalls tossed about.

The cameo of Edward and his clique lead me to believe that he was going to be the Roadrunner in this installment of Boxxy’s Quest of Chaos. But no, they were but a tray of birdseed for what is coming later and a wonderful bit of foreshadowing of this installment’s climax.

I won’t go into detail about the twists and turns in this book, but Neven, you are both an arse and a masterful storyteller. When you decided to run off the cliff, you really ran off the cliff. Nicely done, I was impressed with the immediate aftermath of that canyon drop.

Fizzy....thank you for what you are doing there, I wasn’t too happy with her in Teresa and your plan seems to be a great way of realigning her into tip-top shape.

Arms and Carl....that bit screams foreshadowing.

That Primus Underwood who was the point of contact for Sandman...why does it seem like there is an undercurrent there?

Anyway, fair warning to anyone looking to read this book: I must of laughed out loud at least a dozen times before the halfway mark. Do NOT have anything breakable near you during that part....I had to make a trip to the grocery store because of a LOL moment that induced an introduction between the coffee creamer and the patio.

Another great read

The author once again has done an outstanding job of weaving a great story. Sometimes when a series hits 4,5 or even 6 books it becomes stale. That is not the case here. The MC faces a significant challenge and learns more about itself. It grows the story and adds more depth. I cannot wait to see what happens to Boxxy and the crew in the next story. Highly recommend this series to any adult that was something fun, fast paced, and a little raunchy!

Not the worst, but it gets bumpy
From page one I was lost. I hadn't read the last one in a wile and, for the life of me I just could not remember who most of these people were.
(easily solved that problem by rereading book 5)
This book is kind of a transitional book where little is accomplished, but what little happens changes the characters a lot.
One of my big pet peeves is when the author has the MC do something stupid just to advance the plot. That happens here and I had to put the book down for a few days to get past my aggravation. Of course this is just my trip, You likely feel differently and will enjoy the epic battle royal despite the fact that Boxxy knows it's a trap before he kicks it off himself.
Well,... all's well that ends well, and I can only see one or two dozen ways the author could have brought about the same result with out the stupidity, but Boxxy would have lost agency,... So I guess it's better to be proactively stupid, than passively smart? even if you are a ambush predator monster suited to waiting, not attacking prey that is wise to your tricks. (eye-roll)
-Oh, one other odd thing here, I might have simply forgotten it over my 2 day hiatus but I can't remember a single explicit sex scene from this book, and I don't think it needed one. Oh all the characters have sex, but off camera (so to speak, because this is a book you know. not a movie)

This is where I ended up dropping this series. It was decent overall, but it's becoming more and more of a slog to read through as it stagnates. The author took too much influence from JP light novels, so there are pages and pages of fluff that do nothing but advance the pagecount. I do not want a 2-page detailed review of how Boxxy going from level 24 ditch digging to level 25 ditch digging is incredible. For every tangent the author goes on, he then goes on another sub-tangent, as the need to explain every little detail about everything seemingly compels him to do. Whenever skills, leveling up, or other insignificant details come up, my eyes just glaze over and I skip forward until the author finally decides to talk about the plot again. This problem has been here since book 1, but I was hoping it would get better instead of getting worse.

After four books that had their good points but really hadn’t captured the magic of the first novel, Nevin Iliev has finally gotten his groove back. He did it by remembering just how monstrous Boxy Morningwood truly is and at the same time throwing two shocks that I never dreamed were coming. This novel is everything I look for in this series. It’s funny at times, packed with action, and filled with well-developed surprises. That being said, it’s not a book that you can start the series with. If you’re interested, you have to go back and start with Morningwood.

Audible review

The sound booth theater crew are epic! Did such a great job.

Lacked the boundless humor of the previous books. Kept expecting awkward or funny things to happen but they never did.

Also wish there was more character progression. Almost none took place until the very end.

I was also disappointed in how little Mortimer was involved in this book. He is talked about so much in other books and this book was even titled after him, but his presence in the book was almost nonexistent. Thought he had the potential to be really cool to read about. Bummer.

Just okay. It's like the author decided the story needed to be turned in a different direction and so the plot of this book is all about that? There's some stuff in the beginning about how Kira (aka Boxy) is now a big war hero and trying to deal with that while still doing monster stuff. Then there's a big fight (that went on way way too long, especially noticeable as an audio book). The follow on from the fight fills out the rest of the book and the titular god of death makes a fairly brief appearance for all that the book is named after him.

For me I have found that the series has got increasingly better as the story has developed over each book.
This book was no exception, I love how Boxy has learned to not just fit into society but become so incredibly important to so many people. I wasn’t sure where the story was going to go with the ending of Morgana, but without wanting to give any spoilers I enjoyed this development and wrapping up of the war and I was certainly caught by surprise by the sudden development near the end of the book.

Hells yes it just keeps getting better

I love this author, they do great writing and I can't get bored of any of the books.

But of spoiler but not really: The demons notice something more, the goddess of chaos gets surprised, Boxxy's cover gets better, and Fizzy realized where she stands.

I can't wait for the next books and to enjoy Boxxy and his harem of crazy.

Fantastic

Wonderful! I got too impatient to wait for it to come to audible. Can’t wait to hear Zilla’s voice. Wish Neven could write faster but…quality and all. *twiddles thumbs*. I guess I’ll have to “try” to wait patiently for the next one…. *twiddles thumbs* golly this is difficult.

It was OK aside from the sound effects and music. Usually, those books are marked 'graphic audio' as a warning for people not to buy them.

The story was fine but speaking as someone who is not deficient in imagination, I don't need second rate special effects or crap music to get me in some sort of mood. The author's words are (should be) enough.

Another gem

As always this installment was as entertaining as it's predecessors. The mayhem, the seeming craziness as every domino falls into place to make the perfect disaster. The fights were great as usual and you could really feel the malicious and terror that Boxy instills in others. I look forward to more of your work.

5 stars for Soundbooth Theatre production on Audible. 2 stars for the story. The first five HOURS of this book were nearly unlistenable it was so boring. I keep hoping the next book in this series will be as good as the first three.. will give it through book 7. The author wrote one new interesting character in this novel and then killed him. So there's that.

I hope this is tasty as previous books.

I just love how Boxxy hams up the acting to the max, and everyone eats it up.
This is so messed up, someone aping emotions that they don't actually experience. What does it say about me that I like such a character?

I got a few chuckles out of this book. I hope the sequel improves on this.

When will it end?

Every installment of Boxxy just get better and better! Neven takes chances most writers wouldn’t imagine, much less take. I think the next book will fit a mold and then I find myself upside down wondering how I got there. Anyone that doesn’t take time for this series is missing out on a true epic.

Excellent fights, and finally an author who’s not lazy. Writing up a char sheet for a massive fight with 10-30 abilities where many were used in fight AGAINST mc for an epic showdown. Main fight 10/10.

Still, it has some themes in this book that I find boring to read. Gotta stop imprisoning MC’s, it sucks.

I both enjoyed and hated this one

The first half was excellent Boxxyness, the second half irritated the **** outta me. But the afterword put it all in perspective and I had to agree in the end that what happened needed to happen.

Continued silliness

I'm really enjoying the continued story of Boxxy and his band of idiots. The story maintains the same level of excitement at book six as it did in the first book. Will continue to keep up with this series.

It feels like a new direction is being set up.

While the subterfuge has been quite enjoyable, I am ready to get back to monster business. This feels like a good transition to what could be another excellent arc.

The series started with a mix of litrpg and depravity, but it feels like the author changed, perhaps listened to the rebuke of other offended readers too much, and almost completely stepped away from the parts which made this series unique.

It's fun, I'll give it that. But there are some points where I'm like "aw man, what the hell am I listening to?" So yeah, fun, but I don't think I'd ever read this if I didn't like the Lit-RPG elements so much.

I hate when an Author feels like the MC needs to be taken down a peg and weaker. For a character who is inventive and fighting for their life it seems dumb not to use the skill that he got from killing another hero. Or ran away…

Dumb decisions to move the plot.

A nice little self-contained, locked room, adventure. A bit shorter and less bombastic than the last one but thoroughly enjoyable none the less. I very much liked the characterization of Wardrobezilla and Mortimer, although it would have been nice to see more of him given he is the title character.
