#1 bestselling author with the US-based Lucky Shores romantic suspense series and the Ryan Kaine military action thrillers, and creator of the popular DCI Jones Casebook series of police procedurals, Kerry J Donovan was born in Dublin, before spending many formative years in West Wales.

Kerry earned a first-class honours degree in Human Biology and a PhD in Sport and Exercise Sciences. A former scientific advisor to The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, he helped UK emergency first-responders prepare for chemical and biological attacks in the wake of the 9/11 atrocities. This background adds a keen scientific edge to Kerry’s writing.

Kerry’s life experiences help him add an extra layer of realism to his stories and his characters. For example, readers will discover the water-borne adventures of his action hero, Ryan Kaine, a former member of the Royal Navy’s Special Boat Services, as authentic and exciting as a night-time dip in the Bay of Biscay.

As the owner of a “pristine” Honda NC750X, you’ll often find him touring the less well-known regions of Europe in search of interesting locations for his novels. A life-long sports enthusiast and open-water swimmer, the moment Kerry catches a glimpse of the ocean, it’s off with the bike leathers and on with his wetsuit.

A citizen of the world, Kerry recently returned from spending two decades living in the heart of rural Brittany and now lives with Margaret in a recently renovated bungalow in Nottinghamshire, UK.

When not writing, Kerry enjoys riding his motorbike, jogging, swimming, spending time with his four wonderful grandchildren, and travelling the world.

Book number 4 in The Ryan Kaine series, and my fourth in a row this year by the author.

An innocent woman is attacked. An underworld kingpin and his brutal thugs close in. One man can deliver justice to them all.

When a stalker threatens Angela Shafer’s life and the police aren’t interested, a frantic Angela contacts the only people who might be able to help—an organisation who reached out to her after her sister died aboard Flight BE1555—The 83 Trust.

After reaching Angela's home too late to prevent a terrible atrocity, former Royal Marine and international fugitive, Ryan Kaine, swears to bring the people responsible to justice. He calls in reinforcements in the form of his most trusted men, Danny Pinkerton and William Rollason(Rollo).

Kaine and his team can’t simply take down the vicious kingpin and cut the head off the snake, or Angela and her daughter will never be safe. They’ll need to dismantle the entire criminal organisation, brick by evil brick.

Using his intolerance of bullies, the special talents of his former colleagues, and the compassion and medical skills of his country vet, Lara, Ryan Kaine is … On the Attack.

A great addiction to the action author that I so love... This character Ryan Kaine is so likeable, yes as explained so well by Mrs Shafer... a man of two halves a soft true gentleman, but also a tough son of a bitch to the baddies, and the villains in these books are really so easy to hate.

The author Kerry did something in this book that I had hoped would come the characters coming out more and here more time to get to know Lara, Rollo and Danny as also we get to know the softer side of Ryan Kaine.

This could be the first series of books that I read in one go.... Starting number 5 and bought number 6....Ordering number 7, I hope the author and I live long enough for book 83 !!

I do highly recommend these books if you like the books I like a good action thriller from great authors like Lee Childs, Tom Wood, Mark Dawson, Simon Kernick, Ben Coes, Mark Greaney.

Ryan Kaine is busy again, protecting The 83 and making the criminals pay big-time. This story is gripping from the off and when Captain Kaine gets involved, things turn ugly. I have come to the conclusion that these books are addictive. I read the first one on the recommendation of my husband who said it was brilliant. Since then, I find I have been totally captivated by the rest of the series and am working my way steadily through them. Okay, to a certain extent they are very similar but, on the other hand, they are also very different. Each one tells a different story of brutal thugs getting their own way and beating up or killing innocent by-standers. That is, until Ryan Kaine comes along and turns the tables with his unique way of dealing with these extremely nasty people – then the action hots up and starts to get exciting. Right from the beginning the plot is gripping and, with a fast-paced ending, you will feel like you have been on a rollercoaster from start to finish. I love these books and highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys excitement and tension.

Ryan Kaine is a misunderstood man, who sets out to right an injustice that he himself committed. Ryan with his small group of ex-military buddies and his Doc, are out to help the families of those that died in the plane crash.
This book is fast-paced, exciting, with characters you will cheer for and others you will despise. The author takes us on a real journey of heroics, incredible saves and Ryan definitely puts himself in danger time and time again.
"A stab of fear returned to halt her heart, as the thought of the long drive home to her quiet, empty, exposed little house suddenly terrified her."
"Fear gave way to confusion, and this in turn gave way to relief as the information fell into place like the pieces of the jigsaw puzzles Bobbie used to love as a child."
"A good man. A good, good man. Kind, sad eyes, in a rugged face that had seen hardship."
"An almost imperceptible zephyr barely had the strength to move the haze, birds chattered in the bare chestnut branches and overhead a few white clouds dotted the sky."
Beautiful writing and the suspense of the story kept this reader on the edge of her seat and wondering what could possibly happen next.

After Angela Shafer has a run-in with a hoodlum, she calls the police. However, they don’t believe her so she contacts an organization named “The 83 Trust”. The group was established to help survivors of Flight BE1555. Her sister was one of 83 passengers killed on the flight.

Ryan Kaine arrives on the scene to save her. But the brother of the attacker is a relentless kingpin killer of a local crime syndicate responsible for drugs, smuggling, and human trafficking. And he has promised to continue threatening Angela. So Kaine decides need to bring justice for Angela by taking on the crime boss and his entire organization.

It’s a great, thrilling story. Besides Donovan’s smooth story line, he has taken time to intermix the tension with comic asides from Cain and his teammates. It definitely adds to the flavor of the story.

I have been with Ryan from the very beginning and I think this is the best one yet....except maybe the original. Seeing Ryan with his righteous anger at full throttle was wonderful. He is the very best kind of hero: he is utterly ruthless when he needs to be but he has a heart and compassion that he can never completely hide. Sounds like I'm talking about someone I know, doesn't it? I feel like I really know all of these characters. Mr Donovan has developed them so fully that after the first book I felt like these were people I had known for quite some time. And while the character development is spot-on, let's not forget the action part of these books. It is not overly graphic or gratuitous, but hits just the right note. I have totally devoured all four of the previous book and am impatiently awaiting the next!!!

My Favorite

I loved this book the best so far!!
We all need love in our lives. I had my love for 54 years , although my love is in

heaven now..I have so many memories to hold me until I see him again!
There was So much love starting in this book. I'm going to be happy to watch it grow!
A lot of killing and fighting really bad people
.so many decisions to be made for those who hate the the thieves and killers. The turmoil of killing someone when you don't want to use the only choice if you can. This book is more than taming the unforgivable in war and violence, it's about people's morales, their way of life. It's about wanting to love someone but don't feel you deserve it.
Love, love loved it.

Protect The 83 has become Ryan Kaine’s life mission - and mantra. The 4th book in the series starts violently and continues to build on the previous three books. Will Ryan ever be able to forgive himself for someone else’s barbaric plan? Now back in England, at least for a while, Ryan and Lara’s relationship continues to develop. Once again, I’ve been left eager to find out who, from The 83 Trust, might require Ryan’s assistance next; but because he’s vowed to protect them, does not mean all 83 will deserve it. For those, there will be no mercy; but, for. now, he’s still a wanted man in the U.K.

I have really enjoyed this series and look forward to the next ones. I do have one critique that may not even be reflective of the author. The are in England. England uses the metric system exclusively. There are no MPH or measurements in feet, yards, etc. Yep. Just a small little inconsistency. Never enough to change the rating but if the author reads any reviews please take a look at that. BTW, mid way through the book one of the villains was armed with his trusty Glock and pages later fired his Sig, 🤦🏻‍♂️

Good Thriller.

A good thriller that has Kane and a fellow comrade arriving to late to prevent the rape of a woman who witnessed the dumping of a body by associates of a gangster who also shot her dog. After dealing with the rapist the lady and daughter were taken to safety and an operation to bring down the criminal organisation swung into planning. Plenty of well planned activities to achieve the downfall with an underlying hint of love, affection and romance bubbling below the surface.

Kaine and the Shafers

Shafers mother and daughter found themselves in danger after Angela the mother witnessed some men with a dead body at a local quarry whilst walking her dog. Ryan Kaines hacker come intelligent data finder had sent him a message informing him that one of the 83 family was in danger. jumping into action immediately along with Danny who was with him before altering their plans returning from another job, they were now in rough sea on a ship. Excellent book, 5 stars.

This story grabbed me by the throat, shook me around and left me breathless. I absolutely adored this story. I loved the plot, I loved characters and I loved the use of the British vernacular which kept me aware that the action was taking place in the UK.

The suspense was spine tingling and some of the scenes were so unexpected I would gasp out loud! This author always writes an interesting and enjoyable story which keeps me wanting more! Outstanding, Mr. Donovan!

The action once again is non-stop in this story. Ryan Kaine arrives too late to prevent a terrible atrocity against a family member of the "83" victims of the plane Kaine destroyed. This time a woman witnesses a terrible crime and even reports it to the police. Because there is no evidence remaining the police dismiss her. Kaine does help her, but he needs to call in reinforcements from his old navy regiment.

Again, a Rather Simplistic but Thoroughly Enjoyable Robin Hood Romp

Donovan has done it again. I admit, I’m hooked. If you enjoy RobinHood/revenge stories, and don’t mind simple, fun reads, you might like this series. I do. I read one on a plane to Europe. Excellent diversion!

It transcends its flaws with great heart and pure “bad guys get theirs” fun. Ah, if the author’s imagination was only true. The world would be better off. By a long shot.

Ryan Kaine has taken a vow to look after the families of "the 83" & Angela Shafer and her daughter become part of this. Angela has seen a couple of men dump a dead body while out walking her dog & becomes a target for the people responsible. I am a huge fan of this series & this one didn't disappoint. Well done Kerry

The 83

The continuation of Ryan Kaine's mission to look after and to protect The families of The 83. Meaning the number of passengers aboard airline, BE 1555. A woman is terrorized after witnessing men burying a body in the woods. Kaine and company come to her rescue but not before she is victimized. This book moved at a steady pace and introduced some unique characters.

A Little Too Tidy

Getting the balance of action and dialogue right in a thriller isn’t easy. Donovan succeeds for the most part, but the repartee leans toward hokey a few times. After a solid setup and middle full of action, the ending is a letdown and a little too tidy. Looking forward to the next in the series however.

Another cracker!

Another of the 83 call out to Ryan and the team for help. Having witnessed a murder, she suddenly finds her life in jeopardy from a South Coast gangster. All takes off from this point in the usual organised chaos by Ryan when he decides to take this organisation down. A great novel, again, from the author.

Just as good as the last few books, even if the third person grammatical errors do grate on me. However I spent the first third of the book wondering if I was reading the wrong sequel. No explanation was made as to the end of the previous book, it didn’t really need it but the others followed suit so I kept having to be sure I hadn’t missed a book in between

Another exciting read.

Enjoying the Ryan Kaine series. The character development is to slow. I do enjoy the British setting. I have traveled to England many times to visit and hike. I easily visualize the setting and roads. Took one star off for poor editing. There are several awkward sentences throughout the book. Would recommend this series to friends.

Hated it. . . except for a few of the good guy parts

The language was terrible, the writing really sad, and when the good guys started in with the "effing" I had a real hard time getting thru to the end. This author cannot be compared with Mr. Child and it's nothing like the carefully researched material in every Jack Reacher book. Not worth the money.

Very aggravated beginning

I enjoyed the story, but I cannot stand anything about rape! And the details that the story goes into just really upset me. Once we got past that part, the rest of the book is amazing and full of excitement. I still have a lot of problems with the slang of British. What baby?

Still going strong

Book 4 continues the story as Ryan continues his mission to recompense extended family members of those who died on BE1555. The story moved a it slower than I would have liked, as extended conversations were numerous.

Four In & Enjoying

Pure escapism enough detail to keep you interested, good characters, more appearing with each book along with highly improbable plot lines mean that these books are pure entertainment.
I read them between the more 'serious' reads and enjoy them.

Excellent Ryan Kaine story.

There’s plenty of tension and very good interaction between Ryan, his team, and the people he is protecting. Ryan faced a formidable foe and his skills were challenged.
